That Girl – Just a Girl

I am that girl

The girl who smiles everyday

The girl who passes your way

The girl who has a dog

The girl who writes on her blog

The girl who loves life

The girl someday a wife

The girl next door

The girl never a bore

The girl who loves boys

The girl playing with the kids and their toys

The girl who loves flowers

The girl finding her inner power

I am just a girl who loves to dance

I am just a girl starting to take a chance

I am just a girl who loves her dog

I am just a girl reaching out of the fog

I am just a girl with a pure heart

I am just a girl whose smart

I am just a girl who loves to share

I am just a girl who even takes a dare

I am just a girl who loves to shop

I am just a girl loving a new top

I am just a girl who loves starry nights

I am just a girl who believes in what is right

I am just a girl who has a song in her heart

I am just a girl eager to bake that tart

I am just a girl trying to make this poem rhyme

I am just a girl living her life …. this time

I am just a girl who loves to write

I am just a girl who even just might

I am just a girl who thinks so much more

I am just a girl not afraid of a chore

I am just a girl whose funny

I am just a girl loving a bunny

I am just a girl taking the time

I am just a girl a song out of rhyme

I am just a girl

I am that girl….

Earth Day, April 22nd, 2011 in Edmonton, Alberta.

In Your Heart

In your heart lies the secret to your life.

In your heart lies the beat to every song and every dance.

In your heart lies the dreams for the future, and the ones forgotten.

In your heart lies every moment, every tear, every bout of laughter, every everything.

In your heart lies the gold that shines in the sunlight.

In your heart are the stars that shine like diamonds, blinding in the night.

In your heart is the strength to go where your body must follow.

In your heart is the soul that reminds you to live, love and laugh.

In your heart is mine beating like a reminder to all that we shared.

In your heart ……

In your heart I long to be…

In your heart I wonder…

In your heart I hear…

In your heart I feel….

In your heart I live, I love and I remember.

In your heart, for my heart.

My soul I do surrender.

VICTORIA

Nestled so brilliantly on the isle of Vancouver,

Is this beautiful gem named Victoria.

She is surrounded by water on three sides.

She welcomes visitors from land and by sea.

The flora and fauna are absolutely breathtaking.

Some of which I had never seen.

The coloration to favour any palette.

You must travel there to see.

People so helpful and friendly,

Make you feel like a “Queen” ….

So if you are blessed, take the chance and go see her..

The buildings rich in historical character.

There are places where the streets are lined with stone.

Even a couple of palm trees, what in Canada !!

Treasures I have found so many, antique stores aplenty.

My treasure chest was so full, just made it under by 2.8 pounds.

That’s what the nice lady told me at the airport, on my way home.

Any kind of souvenir or trinket you desire, can be found in Victoria.

Then there’s Fisherman’s Wharf ….. serving up “fish & chips” with houseboats docked nearby.

There’s the Empress Hotel,  magnificent and regal all the way up high.

Full of history and information there’s the Royal BC Museum, complete with a woolly mammoth & real ice.

The home of writer and artist Emily Carr with beautiful gardens, and close by Beacon Hill Park, rich in colour

If you take the double decker bus you will see the shoreline with water so blue and the cruise ships approaching, coming in, too.

You will pass by beautiful homes and gardens on your way …..

Then there’s Chinatown, Fat Phege’s Fudge Factory and OMG, Rogers Chocolates.  Mmm, so good.

Then there’s the Spa at the Magnolia Hotel (place where I stayed) …… heaven

Did I say flowers, trees and such nice people.

Oh, I almost forgot they even have a castle, the Craigdarroch….

I am certain I might have forgotten ….. but oh Victoria !!!

You are a brilliant gem shining bright in our glorious country, Canada.

I am so grateful that you were so gracious and opened your door and heart for me to visit.

Thank you, Victoria.

Inspiring ……

Inspiration comes from the oddest of places, at the strangest of times.

Inspiration can arrive with a knock on your door, say around 4:00.

Inspiration can take you places that your heart has always wanted to go.

Inspiration can make the day so much more fun.

Inspiration can come from watching the neighbourhood children running down the sidewalk.

Inspiration can come from catching one’s smile in the bathroom mirror, at just the right time.

Inspiration just sometimes arrives.

Inspiration can come from watching your dog meet his first love.

I am inspired each and every day by something.

It can be a dragonfly flying in my back yard.

It can be the scent of the roses on a summer’s day.

Making me wish that I was a maker of perfume and could bottle that heavenly scent.

It can be from watching the clouds float on by.

It can be from life – such as it is – such as it will be.

Inspiration gives us wings – gives us wings to fly.

Be inspired.  Whether it by something big or something small or nothing at all.

Just be inspired.  Be inspiring.  It is inspiration after all.

To have uplifting influence on ….. I like this dictionary meaning.

Each Birthday ….

When I awoke this morning from my bed

I awoke to a renewed feeling

The feeling that you get on your birthday

Each birthday

The feeling that hope runs anew and life is worth living

Each birthday

Is grand

Each birthday is about another year

Perhaps chocolate cake if you are lucky (and I was)

Thoughtful gifts and birthday wishes

Each birthday

Brings me great joy

Each birthday

Well, simply “each birthday” …… so happy.

Thank you…

Today

Today is a great day

Filled with love, laughter and promise

Love of family and of course, Alvin my dog

Laughter as he licked an orange popsicle

Promise when I booked my trip to Victoria

Promise of a yummy supper out tonight with my kids

Love of my flowers and the blue sky

Laughter as I watch Alvin chasing a butterfly

Promise when I let Al out of the house without his leash

So many good things I am lucky  to see, do and have.

My Amanda just dropped by with the most beautiful flowers & a card for my upcoming birthday.

Isn’t life just so grand.

Well the doggie is barking and I must go

But today, well today is just the best day …..

Thought for the day …..

Is there anyone out there?  I am not sure if anyone is reading my thoughts and words but if you are please know this:

Even when the skies open up and sprinkle raindrops down upon your head,

Even when you stumble, tumble or fall out of bed,

Even when you stub your toe,

Even when you think that you know,

Even when life gets you down,

Even when you try to be a clown,

Even when you know what you should do,

Even then, at the end of it all, you are LOVED.

I love you for today, tomorrow and always.

You are the best person in the whole Universe.

You can do and be anything you wish.

Just wish and live your dreams.

Smiling now…….. Always be true and DREAM BIG.

My Christmas Wish

The tree stands decorated and glowing brightly.

My wish for this Christmas,

My wish is for us all to be together.

It has been too long — near twenty years.

Oh,  please bring us all home this Christmas.

The cards and letters have been mailed.

The sugar cookies iced in green and red,

The aroma of the mincemeat tarts fill the room.

Soon it will be time to fill the stockings,

Soon it will be time to roast the turkey.

My wish is for us all to be together

We would gather all around the tree

Presents all different shapes and wrapped so right.

Singing Christmas Carols.

If all I could ever have in this world,

It would be for us to be together,

One and All, Young and Old.

We would remember those Christmases gone by.

This is my wish.

Missing my family and wishing that we could all be together for Christmas.
