2021

Good Morning All, How are you? I, We are great. Today is Tuesday, January 19, 2021 and the 12th Birthday of my partner in crime, my housemate, my companion in all weather, my shadow and my beloved Alvin.

What better way to say Happy Birthday to my buddy Mr. Alvin than with some photos over our time together thus far. Alvin has so many friends, he makes them wherever we go which to be honest is as far as our legs will take us. His angels Sir Elton, Miss Penny, Master Casey and Miss Abi watch over him daily. Surrounded by family and friends. Miss Aspen and Milo; Best friend Teddy and his little sister Kobi; Best friend and neighbour Humphrey and his little brother Bogart; and Baby Bailey who is the newest little one to Angel Abi’s family. I have attached photos of all of these friends with us and those who have passed. Unfortunately I do know have photos of the following friends: Georgie, Rio, Jack, Bear, Eddie & Bruno, Jazmine. Aussie who is an Angel used to live next door. I cannot even begin to name all of his, our friends as we are so blessed.

To all our two legged family and friends who are too many to mention, thank you for your love and support.

Thank you Alvin for the best eleven years of my life.

Happy Happy Birthday buddy.

We are looking forward to your birthday party this coming Sunday with your BF Teddy and his little sister Kobi and of course your sister, brother-in-law and Miss Aspen and Milo. Alvin’s sister picked up a “doggie” birthday cake and some other items for your party so that I would not have to go out shopping.

Life has never been the same since you came into our lives. You comfort me when life is giving me a moment or three. You are always happy to see me. You are a foodie and will eat five seconds after your breakfast or supper. You always treat everyone whether two or four legged with kindness and respect. After all Humphrey the cat next door is a good friend. Bogart will be in time. You have little or no patience when it comes to having something you want. You are great company. Always my shadow. You stay out of most things unless it is food or underwear. Not sure why the underwear! I keep mine out of sight, lol. You wag your little tail when in the company of all your friends and family. You love to walk but do not like to get ready to go for walks. What a guy, our Alvin. I love your snuggles and I love you.

Wishing you a great many more healthy happy years. Happy Birthday Alvin Charlie Lewis

Wishing you all a great day.

Happy Birthday Alvin.

Living with kindness, respect and compassion for all.

Love Mom

It is a NEW YEAR.

Yes, here we are at the 22nd day of the New Year on this Wednesday.

I just realized this morning that living with Alvin is the longest time that I have lived with a guy, a male.

We just celebrated our 10th Anniversary together.

I have found no matter whether you are canine or human; all relationships require work, consideration and patience.

Respect and love fall into every relationship.

Happy 10th Anniversary Mr. Alvin ….. I love you buddy.

We so enjoyed our second regular walk last night.

We also stopped by to see Abi’s Mom.

Abi passed one week ago today.

We will miss that little beagle … she was so beautiful and kind.

Last night on a newscast from the United States it was reported that China is banning ALL single use plastics by the end of 2020.

They also are refusing to take the recycled materials that the United States currently ships to them.

I am thinking if one of the highest populated countries on the planet can make this statement and do this; why can’t we?

We need to work quickly on this issue.

Plastics are filling our oceans and soon will fill us as they are marine life.

Then it is only a matter of time.

Life cannot survive filled with pieces of plastics and microplastics.

This morning at 3:00 …. the air was warm.

At 5:00 a.m. the air was warm and it was snowing.

Now we have quite the snow accumulation.

Well I am running late.

How did that happen?

I just had to have that extra of 30 minutes on the sofa snuggling with Alvin.

Oh, well I would not change a thing.

Wishing you a great day.

Be safe and warm.

Treating yourself and all others with KINDNESS and RESPECT.

Happy Wednesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and we awoke to much warmer temperatures.

I went outside with Alvin and I did not lose my breath.

I am, we are so grateful for this change.

Yesterday was both a day of incredible highs and incredible lows.

We woke up to the day being Alvin’s 11th Birthday.

Thank you to all of our Facebook friends for their birthday wishes for Alvin.

A short walk in the afternoon as it was still too cold for a long one.

We relaxed and enjoyed the day.

Later in the afternoon I waited for Teddy and his Mom to arrive.

Teddy to stay with Alvin for a visit on his birthday and me to go with his Mom for groceries.

Just a few minutes before she arrived; there was a knock at the door.

I opened the door to see our friend “A” from down the street and her Mom.

There was something about her demeanor and the fact that Abi (Alvin’s longtime girlfriend) was not with her.

I knew in my heart that something terrible, horrible had happened.

We stepped into the house and they told me that Abi had passed a few days ago.

It was sudden and so unexpected.

She was 11.5 years old.

I, We loved her so much.

She was the cutest beagle on the planet.

Everytime we were out for a walk and she spotted us/me, she would pull on her leash and cry out to come see me/us.

I always received kisses.

Sometimes I would be on my way home from work and she would spot me and come running with her Mom is tow.

Alvin and Abi would roll about on the lawn obviously to those around them.

They hit it off right from the start.

Oh my gosh how we loved her …. hard to say loved …. we love her.

I cannot locate a photo of her at the moment.

These flowers are for her.

Fly with the angels, Abi.

Many kisses to you our darling friend.

We miss you today, tomorrow and always.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, back to work as it is Monday morning.

What a grand weekend!

Happy Birthday Wishes going out to my niece on her 35th Birthday.

Alvin had his best friend sleep over on Saturday night.

We enjoyed Humphrey’s company for the day on Saturday.

We had the distinct pleasure to meet the newest member of the extended family “Miss KOBI” on Saturday afternoon.

The weather held out so we enjoyed wonderful walks with an extra long one today with Teddy (one hour even though the wind was cold, we held on).

The laundry and cleaning was completed.

I had tea with Teddy’s Mom not once but twice this weekend.

Texted with my brother J.

Put a serious dent in my Christmas cards.

All of the cards to be mailed are addressed, some letters written and should be finished by end of this week so that I can pop them into the mail.

Even enjoyed a few shows on television.

I am gloriously happy and content at this moment.

Life is wonderful and I am so grateful.

I even submitted a good sized STEEPED TEA ORDER which was nice.

Sometimes, no most times it is the small things in life that are the most wonderful.

Like tea with your friends.

Meeting a new member of the family.

Walking in the sunshine.

Being Alvin’s Mom.

Writing letters with Christmas cards.

Meeting up with Alvin’s girlfriend and her Mom when walking with Alvin & his best friend Teddy.

I hope that you had an awesome weekend.

Be it filled with love, kindness and respect.

Mine was.

Have the most wonderful Monday.

Always, Carol & AL

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of March, 2019.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to Everyone.

I love my “green” roots, er I mean heritage.

Someone might think I dyed my hair, which could have been a possibility.

The sun is slow to rise this morning but gradually the sky is clearing.

Happy Birthday to all of our friends who celebrate a birthday today.

TW, DH, BW and AD.

What a great day to have a birthday …. St. Patrick’s Day.

Today we are celebrating my daughter and Alvin’s sister’s birthday.

We are a few days late but sometimes schedules clash.

Excited to be celebrating her birthday today on St. Patrick’s Day.

I am making a fruit pizza for the party so will be getting that going in a little bit.

Have to relay some Alvin and Friends stories from yesterday.

Yesterday was a busy day with Alvin’s regular vet appointment, grocery shopping, laundry and cleaning around the house.

I just happened to be outside trying to chip away at some ice later in the afternoon (as had just spent two hours cleaning out my INBOX on email, argh) when I spotted Alvin’s girl friend Abi.

Abi was with her Aunt “A” and they were coming down the sidewalk out for a walk.

We chatted for a minute and then Alvin saw them from inside the house.

I asked if they would like to come in for a minute to say hi.

After a quick visit, I decided that we should just suck it up and go for a walk.

We found that walking on the other side of the street from our house; well it was not too bad.

A bit wet but very little ice.

We ended up going for a really long walk.

The first one of this length all winter.

It was great.

Alvin was so happy to see his girl friend.

Must be an age thing as he was less “engaging” as he used to be in his young.

At the vet they said he is like a 60 year old based on his years and the chart ???

Anyway they walked side by side.

Comfortable.

Just arrived home and received a call to see if it was okay for Humphrey to come now (5:15 p.m.).

Absolutely.

I took some cute photos of the boys (this time was more prepared to get those shots that don’t always come around).

Who knew ….

I was not quite fast enough to get Humphrey drinking out of Alvin’s water bowl.

The boys resting on the sofa.

Alvin, thinking well I guess he’s laying on my sofa.

Every visit they become more comfortable with each other.

Yesterday Humphrey walked up to Alvin and just lightly touched his face.

Alvin was a bit nervous but it all worked out.

All under the careful watch of the MOMMA.

Can you believe how close they were laying to each other.

Best Saturday night company ever.

Oh these boys.

Alvin and Friends.

Well time to get this show on the road.

I have toast and coffee to make and drink and a FRUIT PIZZA to make.

Whoops, I had better get out of these pj’s.

Have an awesome St. Patrick’s Day.

Special Hello to: anyone celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 21st day of November, 2018.

Another beautiful day on the way.

Alvin and I enjoyed the most wonderful walk last night.

The air was calm and warm.

The sidewalks were about 80% clear of ice and snow.

We walked slowly where need be and took in our whole walk.

On the way home we bumped into our friends “A” and Abi (Alvin’s girl friend).

She squealed when she saw us.

She is so cute.

Abi always jumps up and gives me a kiss.

She always makes my day.

It has been awhile.

I had forgot that Abi and Alvin were the same age or pretty close.

Four-legged buddies.

We caught up in each other’s news.

Then on our way home.

Tonight is the Guide Christmas Cookie Sale.

I am going with my friend “S” and her daughter.

Should be fun.

There always is a bit of waiting to get into the sale and it is always packed to the rafters.

But one manages to find some cookies and then on our way.

I heard on the news last night that CANADA POST says that the strike could go into the New Year.

They were talking about the effect on small businesses whether in stores or on-line; parcels and Christmas cards.

If they are on strike, I am going to wait and mail my cards in January.

It would be a waste of money as there is always the possibility that they would not reach their destination.

Better late than never.

I send cards, photo(s) and letter.

Time spent is not to be wasted.

Well here we go again.

Time to leave for work.

How are you doing today?

Are you on your way out the door to work or to school?

Do you work from home?

Stay-home Mom? (hardest worker of all)

Whatever you do.

Wherever you go.

May you have a productive, safe, happy day.

Special Hello to: my friends all over the world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 17th day of January, 2018.

Well interesting turn of events.

One reason that warmer temperatures in the winter time is likely not all good; freezing rain.

Alvin wanted to get up extra early this morning (3:45 a.m. to be exact).

After the little guy ate his breakfast and had some water, I opened the door for him to go outside.

The deck was wet, the culprit, rain.

Not certain what exact time it happened, but it happened.

Now I have a dilemma, do I add my ice spikes things to my winter boots, for traction.

I guess better to be save than sorry.

On one hand they help a person to stay upright when it is icy and on the other hand any places where there is bare sidewalk, well let me just say they make a scraping irritating noise.

Also slippery in the office in the places there is no carpet.

Do I or don’t I?

That is the question of the day.

I have 5 minutes to decide.

Likely will and will need a couple of minutes time to get them on my boots.

Oh well, could always be worse.

I do love the warmer temperatures.

Be safe to all the drivers and walkers out there today.

Cute story from last night:  Alvin and I were out for our walk.  Enjoying it, I thought.  Just a few minutes into the walk I hear this dog crying and looked across the street to see Alvin’s girl friend “ABI.”

She was out for a walk with her Momma and noticed us.

Abi bolted to cross the street but was gently pulled back until the traffic cleared and then she ran like a LION was chasing her.

Abi came right over and gave Alvin some attention and then to me, she gave a “kiss.”

I love ABI and she loves us.

We had a little visit and both the doggies were lifting their paws, which was strange for Alvin as we had only been out for a few minutes and it was warm out.

Anyway, I decided if for whatever reason he was ready to go back, we would just walk back home with them as they live on the other side of us.

So we did.

Always love seeing Miss Abi, she is gorgeous.

Well time to run and get ready.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  if icy or wet or whatever the weather is, stay safe and warm.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 16th day of May, 2017.

The SUN is SHINING and the sky is a pretty much that gorgeous powder blue with a hint of pink.

There appears to be a bit of a breeze.

With hope of a beautiful day.

We needed the rain but now we could use the sunshine and some warmth.

I have held on and have not turned the heat on in the house.

This morning it was 60 degrees F ……

Not sure how Alvin feels about the coolness but if he did not have a toasty warm fur coat on – I would not have put him through this….

I will say one thing both of us are sleeping better.

Alvin has been sleeping past his usual 3:00-3:30 a.m.

So perhaps it is hypothermia …. not really …..

But definitely the cool temperature is good for sleeping.

Cute story.

Last night on my way home from work – I bumped into “A” and Abi.

Whenever Abi sees me she gets so excited.

“A” let go of her leash and with firm instructions said “Go see Auntie Carol.”

With her tail flying madly she raced toward me.

Ready to give me a doggie kiss.

Once she arrived at her destination I grabbed the leash.

She is so cute.

We walked and talked on the way to my house where I invited them in ….. advising that Alvin would need to go outside first ….

But first thing he did was to look at Abi and then run upstairs.

He brought down his chew treat and proceeded to hop up onto the sofa.

His little tail wagging all the way.

Then he was down and then up and then ran to the kitchen.

I let both of the pups outside.

Alvin did his business and they were back inside the house.

He did not really give her much attention as he was not quite sure what to do as usually I come home, he goes outside and then has supper.

Oh bad Momma.

After a few minutes and a treat for Miss Abi …. they left.

Alvin had his supper and I got changed into after work clothes and we were on our way out the door for our walk.

We did not get very far and we saw the girls coming back ….

It had just started to rain BIG drops.

They were on the other side of the street and Abi pulled making a bee-line for us.

Carefully looking for traffic they crossed to us.

We had a short visit before going on our way.

This time Alvin greeted her properly.

Our walk was cut short as it started to rain hard ……

A fun start to the evening.

Happy Tuesday.

Sometimes it is good to change things up ….. does not have to be anything big.

Special Hello to:  YOU, today.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 25th day of January, 2017.

Another foggy morning …..

Happy Wednesday.

Last night when I got off of the bus after work and was walking toward the entrance to my neighbourhood; I spotted my friends one of them being Alvin’s girlfriend “Abi.”

When her Mom saw the bus she wondered if I was on it and when she saw me …. they started walking toward me.

It was only a few seconds when Abi saw me and came running full speed to me.

Her Mom let the leash go and Abi ran to me.

Jumping up and giving me kisses and all the time making her Abi “happy to see me” sounds.

I was so taken.

What a great reception.

They joined me on the walk home.

Abi and her Mom live only a few houses from me and Alvin.

Such a great walk home.

Well I am running late somehow.

So have to cut this short.

Just wanted to share my happy story.

Special Hello to: Miss Abi and her Momma.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 14th day of January, 2016.

Last night we received a skiff of snow crystals ….. so pretty all these super mini snowballs.

Over the next few days our temperatures are going to drop and it is going to be cold again.

We have been so lucky as it has been only a few days here and there.

Last night after work while on our walk we bumped into Alvin’s girlfriend “Abi” and her Mom.

I am not sure what he was thinking about but he barely gave her the time of day …. not much interest.

It was sad.

Usually they frolic and play and it is so much fun to watch.

I teased perhaps he has to “poop” and that is all that he can think about ….. one thought …. focused you know.

Abi had kisses for me even though Alvin all but ignored her.

We had a nice visit and carried on our way.

It was just after we reached the last house and the entrance to the park that someone “pooped.”

Perhaps I was right ….. maybe he had to poop so badly that he could not think of anything or anyone else.

Possible I guess.

Or perhaps he just was not into her at that moment.

We all have that …..

Sometimes when a friend calls or you see someone and you just do not feel like chatting.

It does happen.

Well it was cause for conversation and a smile by both Moms.

I am sure that Abi still loves Alvin.

Well one more day of work this week and it is the weekend once again.

I hope that you have an awesome weekend.

Cold or Warm ….. stay safe …. have some fun.

Special Hello to: FRIENDS …. FAMILY …..

Always, Carol and Alvin
