COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Friday, July 28, 2017 and it is the 13th day until my 60th Birthday.

Well as the curtain begins to rise on my upcoming 60th Birthday.

I was thinking what else can I share regarding 60 years of life and experience.

Perhaps ADVICE.

Likely one of the single most pieces of advice that was ever given to me was this by my Paternal Grandmother, Stella.

Now, we did not always see eye to eye on things but likely due to the 56 year age difference.

But we agreed on a great many things.

My Grandmother was educated and very intelligent.

She rarely showed signs of emotion and me, well I plainly wear my heart on my sleeve.

Perhaps we were a good bit of YING and YANG.

I learned so much from her over my lifetime until she passed at age 97 in 1998.

So the advice was simply this:  “everything in moderation.”

It applied not only to food but to life.

If you live a life of moderation then you would live a good long life.

Or at least increase the likelihood of such.

So that is what I would like to leave with you for today….

Those pearls of wisdom from my Grandmother who was an amazing woman.

“Everything in Moderation.”

Always, Carol

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 21st day of February, 2017.

Today was my paternal Grandmother’s Birthday.

She was born this day 116 years ago.

Her legacy lives on in her daughter and grand-children and great-children.

My daughter and I named our jewellery line/business after my Grandma Stella.

She was always full of surprises.

Yesterday was a quiet day.

I had coffee in the morning and a visit with my neighbour.

Alvin loved the attention and took advantage to say the least.

Well here we are back to work again.

The days off always seem to fly by but then again so do the workdays.

In approximately three weeks we will be moving our clocks ahead by one hour.

I do like moving ahead because it means less getting ready in the darkness ….

Food for thought.

Do you have something or someone in your life that makes you crazy?

In your thoughts all of the time?

Not in a good way.

Does this something or someone lead you to cry yourself to sleep some/most nights?

My advice:  if you have tried approaching the situation head on, and nothing changes.

Simple walk away.

Life is too short to be miserable some or most of the time.

Just my approach to life in my “golden” years.

Always surround yourself with love and light.

No drama.

Who needs it.

Have a great day.

I hope that you all enjoyed Family Day yesterday.

Special Hello to: You ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 9th day of January, 2014.

Another gorgeous day….. temperatures on the rise.  YAY.

I believe that the “topic” of friends/friendship deserves a few editions on “Thought for the day…”

Friends are those special people or animals that light the flame in your heart, and make you feel warm and wonderful.

They are there to listen, to give advice, to lend a helping hand, to see things that might not be obvious to you.

They laugh with you, they cry with you and jump for joy with you.

They are mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandparents …. they all fall into one or more of those roles.

They are your friends.

If you are lucky enough to have friends then you are truly blessed.

You must remember to be there for them, as well.

Friendship is a two way street.

It is important to always give more than you receive.

I am truly blessed to have so many friends and each friendship is unique and special.

I believe that people come and go during your lifetime …. some they go because they move or because they pass on.

But each friendship is there for a reason.

They come at that time …. when needed the most either for yourself or for them.

Some are forever …. others are not.

If you sit and think about it you will notice that each time a friendship has been forged during your life ….. it has been for a reason.

Perhaps you met someone on a trip …. you just clicked …. you love to laugh …..

Perhaps your parents had friends who had children ….. you became friends when small, and remained that way your whole life.

Perhaps it was a four-legged furry little guy,  that graced your life with a friendship that you wanted to last forever.

So many variables.

Something to ponder for sure.

Happy Friend’s Day.

I love my friends.

Special Hello to: my childhood friend “D” who is always in my thoughts …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 18th day of September, 2013.

THIS IS MY 900th BLOG ….. WAHOO WAHOO ……. CLAPPING WILDLY.

Yesterday was beautiful with a slightly cool breeze.

If this weather continues it will make a bunch of people very happy or at least help.

This is gratitude day ….

Well everyday should be gratitude day.

I always write every single day in a journal …. yes, I actually write with a pen and paper.

I have filled many a notebook but I do write in a gratitude journal every morning.

It is part of my morning routine …. it is ritual.

Actually it is part of “our” morning ritual.

This happened yesterday morning and I have to share:

Mr. Alvin stood by my chair (usually he lays on the sofa until I am ready to have my breakfast – he is already done his by this time) and did his little “whiny barking thing” …..

It took me a few minutes to realize that he wanted up in my lap.

Well he isn’t really a lap dog.

I always have to extend my legs straight out on a nearby chair as there would not be room for him.

He used to do this, like last winter but hasn’t done it in months

It was nice to cuddle and write …..

P.S. this morning he just put his paw up on the chair leg asking to be picked up …. ah, how I love my Mr. Alvin.

So on this mid week morning I am so grateful that I have Mr. Alvin in my life ….. even though he cannot talk to me …. he does.

I know that sometimes and trust me I do know this for sure.

There are days when it seems like the world has a different plan in store for you meaning that things just do not seem to be going right ….

But listen to your inner voice ….. jump and scream if you have to ….. let it out. Then listen to your inner voice – it does give great advice.

Do not be afraid to ask for help or for some advice.

Well time to get travelling here…..

Have a great great day my friends.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Special Hello to: all those kind and generous people who read my blog …. you have no idea how much it means to me.  I feel like a real author.

Always, Carol and Alvin
