Second Half of the NEW YEAR – final quarter.

Good Morning All, man is it ever difficult to get one’s bottom up and going when it is dark outside. Finally at 8:23 a.m. the sky is beginning to lighten as the sun starts to think about rising in the morning sky. As I look out of the office window there are hues of pinks, almost purple, oranges and yellows filling the horizon and above the night sky is slowing dissipating.

Well HAPPY HALLOWEEN to you all. I put together all the treat bags last night to be delivered to children that I know in our neighbourhood. As I mentioned before I have contacted each one to ensure they are okay with the plan and to make certain no one has allergies. Although I know the chocolate bars do not have nuts in them so that part is good. Chips and Chocolate. Sweet and salty. I am excited to deliver them.

Teddy and Kobie spent the day with us yesterday. We had so much fun. Alvin and Kobie actually shared Alvin’s bed in the kitchen while I worked yesterday off and on during the day. I just had to snap a photo. My daughter will be coming over tomorrow to help me with the Christmas tree so I am going to also ask her to help me with the photo / phone thing. Last time we hooked up some additional memory for the “cloud” but apparently it was not enough as I am still getting messages on my phone which is horrible as I am paying an extra $2.00 and it isn’t enough? Anyway, I am not terribly tech savvy and rely on my daughter to fill in the gaps for me.

I can hardly wait to share photos. It has been forever. Even my HALLOWEEN COSTUME for work. I went as ….. “THIS IS WHAT A HOUSING CLERK LOOKS LIKE DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC.” I just wore my regular work stuff, which consisted of a sweater and tank top and pants. Now the pants were more dressed up than I have been wearing as of late but no one really saw them anyway. We had a virtual HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST which was great. This virtual thing is actually growing on me.

Last night we had some freezing rain so the deck was a bit slippery last night and this morning but luckily we had some snow that came down and froze so it gave some grip when walking. I was very careful out there.

Mr. Alvin surprised me this morning. First off, we were in bed before 9:30 and I read for awhile, he woke up about 3:30 so I gave him his glucosamine chew and we went outside. I wanted to make sure that he did not slip and fall either although he has a much better point of gravity than me. Then back to sleep on the sofa and next thing I know it was 8:08 a.m. Just starting to get light but still dark. Deceiving and felt like earlier. Tomorrow the time changes and we will be one hour behind. Oh, back to my original point about Alvin ….. he had his breakfast minutes after we got up, he stretched first….. I was shocked that he only ate 3/4 of his food. Has to be a first. He does not seem to be feeling ill or anything. I guess he just was full.

Time to get this show on the road. Shower, then some laundry and cleaning and before you know it, we will be out delivering treats. Also have to have breakfast and coffee …. but that will be after the shower.

Wishing you a Happy Halloween. Be safe and take care. It is okay to just keep you children at home ….. dress up with them …. have a little party …… give them some treats ….. play some games. This is a different year and we must change according to the times. Better to be safe than sorry. I am wearing a mask when we go out this afternoon. Keeping everyone safe.

Living with Kindness and Respect each and every day ….

I /We shall remain, As Always, Carol & Alvin

I do not have any Halloween photos in my photo gallery to share but I have this photos of me and Alvin from back in the day. Not sure what kind of collar / harness that was as he has been wearing body ones for years. He was a little fuzz ball of cuteness. Taken in 2010.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Welcome to Tuesday morning.

At first I was thinking that perhaps the forecast was off for today but I see now that the sun is beginning to rise.

Was overcast for a bit.

Clearing a bit now but also could be smoke from the fires up north.

RAIN would be good.

Well I am feeling better but had to take something for the headache that I woke up to/with.

Some years I am bothered by allergies and other years not so much.

Thankfully it is usually not so much.

In this moment, Alvin is snuggled up on his little blanket bed beside my chair.

Catching a few zzz’s.

So cute

Yesterday, late in the afternoon we managed to get out for a walk.

I was so happy to see the adult geese with the baby goslings out swimming on the water.

They were closer to shore but I did catch a nice glimpse of them all.

That was at the beginning of our walk and on the return we saw them on the grass by the trees near the entrance to the park.

Lucky us.

Baby geese, goslings are so fluffy and cute.

Won’t be long and the fluff will be replaced by feathers.

They grow up so fast.

Do you ever wake up in the morning at the point in an odd dream?

Something that really makes no sense?

With people that you seldom if ever, see?

That was my morning dream.

We as per usual hit the sofa about 4:30 for about 40 minutes of extra sleep and I started to dream.

Part of the situation could have been related to our current circumstances at work.

Very odd.

This morning I am catching the bus to work as the carpool has appointments today.

Always seems strange catching the bus now that I carpool for the most part.

Will be catching the bus for a couple of weeks in June when she is on vacation.

Everyday I am grateful for good health, supportive and wonderful family and friends including Mr. Alvin, laughter, my home and to be employed.

Filling each day with gratitude is a must.

Positive energy and good will keep the world turning.

Well I guess ….. I see a nice walk to the bus stop this morning.

Mr. Alvin …. time to get up …..

Be kind to yourself and to others …. live each day to the fullest.

Be in the moment.

You cannot change the past, the future mainly depends on what happens today.

So live in the moment …. Living … one day at a time.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Brilliant morning but not for me.

Once in awhile I get hit with allergies.

Today is the day.

Going to go back and hopefully be able to sleep the worst of it off.

The headache part for sure.

Snuggles with Alvin will help as well.

What can you do?

Have a wonderful day.

Still Living … one day at a time.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 26th day of June, 2018.

The sky is overcast with “rain” clouds and the air is considerably cooler than the past week or so.

The house has COOLED to a comfortable temperature, thankfully for Alvin.

We did not even have to run a FAN last night.

Such a good sleep we had.

We opted not or rather I opted not to go with Alvin for a walk this morning.

We walked last night and it was great having two walks in one day.

Tomorrow will be a two walk day.

I do like going in the mornings.

The peace that fills the air.

Birds conversing as only birds can do.

I have the office window open just to provide some extra coolness to the room and can hear the squawking of crows in the near distance along with the hum of traffic

from the road that wraps around the city.

Otherwise it is quiet, no voices, no sirens, now an airplane, now a truck just started.

That has always amazed me at how many people auto start their cars in the morning and let them run for several minutes.  Why?

I understand in the winter but in the SUMMER.

People.

The sky is being to clear from the south.

A gust of wind just caused the trees to flutter.

Almost time to leave for work.

The carpool is back in action this week.

So many colds and allergies rearing up this season.

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing that you use good judgment, common sense and KINDNESS.

Can you imagine what this world would be like?

Have a great Tuesday.

Special Hello to: all those folks who read books

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 24th day of May, 2018.

Another beautiful day on the way and perhaps just a little bit cooler.

Even rain showers in the forecast which would be wonderful.

We enjoyed a walk last night with our friends.

Always nice when Alvin can walk with Presley and Vader, his doggie pals.

It would seem like this spring (not officially summer yet) that so many folks are suffering from allergies.

I count myself among them.

My tree out front has little white flowers.

I do not remember our tree to have flowers like that ….. is it possible after over 10 years that a tree starts to flower.

I suspect that other years they were smaller and not so notable.

Anyway my eyes have been burning, congested, ears plug and sometimes feel like I cannot breathe.

Crazy what “green” can do.

It looks really pretty though.

I took some photos so I will post them over the next few days.

Perhaps someone with a “real” green thumb could tell me what kind of tree, I have.

Well here it is almost time to leave for work.

What a wonderfully short work week this has been.

I could get used to short work weeks but same pay, of course (and benefits).

Oh well.

So on this Thursday …. I wish that you are in good health.

Doing what you love and love what you are doing.

Happy Thursday.

Mr. Alvin is on his blanket …. he is so cute.

Love that little guy.

Although both his Momma and Mr. Alvin have put on weight, argh.

Lots of walks.

We have to remember to cut back on portions as we are not teenagers any longer.

Probably a good thing for most of us to remember.

Portion control.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” who is one of the hardest working, most kind souls that I have encounter in my travels on this Earth.

Always, Carol & Alvlin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 30th day of October, 2016.

It is overcast and has been all weekend.

No sight of the sun.

It is on those days that one seems to lose energy.

It is on those days that one just wants to eat and to sleep.

It is on those days that you just want to bake cookies, right?

Well that I did last night.

With tomorrow being Halloween our office holds it’s Annual Halloween Potluck.

This year I decided to take my “famous” Carol’s Creepy Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.”

It is my forever Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.

Only this time as I made a quadruple batch the first ones spread out on the cookie sheet because I use butter and waited to add

a bit extra flour until after the first couple of dozen.

They are big and extra chewy, which is perfect for Halloween.

I added some more flour after that, and they were less chewy and for the final ones I added some of my “Salad Topper” which is

dried cranberries and seeds.

Decided not to take those to work in case of allergies.

But the cookies whether the first ones made or the last ones are all super YUMMY.

I have the best recipe for sure.

The past couple of days I have been trying to think of what to be this year.

Has to be easy.

Has to be something that I can make up without buying anything and voile I am going to be the “Spider Witch.”

I have black pants and a black long-sleeved top.

I have a black full length cape.

The best thing of all I have this black and purple witch hat which is unique because on the netting that comes down over the face is covered

with baby spiders.

Perfection.

I also borrowed a big spider from my daughter.

He will be placed accordingly.

I used to have spider earrings but am not sure where they may be.

If I can find them today I will be wearing them.

A bit of makeup, a couple of funky antique rings and black shoes and I am SO ready.

No current cost.

I will post my Halloween decorations tomorrow.

For Tuesday I will post a photo of me in my costume.

Hard to take a full length “selfie” of oneself.

Alvin is not too good at taking photos.

He has tried but it is not easy for the little guy.

Well time to go and have breakfast and COFFEE.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: all those people who love to dress up and decorate for Halloween.

Always, Carol and Alvin.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 11th day of January, 2014.

The wind has been howling away this morning.

The house is empty except for me.

I hear each and every creak.

Oh, how I miss my Alvin.

He slept over at his sister’s house last night as I worked at the store.

He is the best company.

Speaking of company, tonight his girlfriend and her “parents” are coming for a visit.

They are friend (neighbours) that live a few doors down.

Alvin loves his “ABI” …..

They get so excited to see each other and play and play.

We will have a great night.

Looking forward to the company.

Do you get excited for company?

Are you a people person?

Do you like to entertain?

Do you fuss and stew and make everything perfect?

Sounds like me.

Well better get the show on the road.

Have a great day.

If you are entertaining ….. keep it simple.

I have learned that over the years.

Most important thing ….. “make sure that no one has allergies.”

The last thing you want to do is to make something that will end up with an emergency visit.

Have a great Saturday ….

Time to laundry and all of that stuff.

Thank you for reading.

Special Hello to:   YOU

Always, Carol and Alvin
