The New YEAR 2022

Good Saturday Morning ALL! Well it is bright and early. I hope this finds you well. First Alvin had me up at 4:30 to go outside for a pee and for his glucosamine chew then back to the sofa we went. Next we woke up just before 6:00 a.m. to see flashing lights out front of our house, I jumped up and there was a first responder vehicle down the street from us. I gave Alvin his breakfast and went out to the backyard with him as it was just beginning to get light. Dark clouds lining the sky and WIND, was thinking we may blow away, lol. Back in the house, I watched out front at the flashing lights. Then the lights stopped flashing and I realized it was an ambulance as the attendants opened the side of the ambulance and then got in and left the scene. At that point, I thought that we would lay back down on the sofa for some more zzz’s because really who needs to get up at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday with no good reason. Well that lasted for about one minute and then I decided to just get up. I am wide awake. So I put on some coffee, dried the dishes that were in the sink and put them away, changing the bedding on our bed, am doing this post now and then I am going to do some other things before going to Gillian’s for coffee at 10:00 a.m. Kind of cool to be up and already checked off some things off my list at this time of the morning. The dark blue clouds are beginning to dissipate and I can just barely catch the sunrise. I will say that the wind is drying things up and perhaps I brought this on myself as I wanted so desperately for the backyard space to be dry for Alvin and after my tumble last Sunday. By the way, I am fully recovered. I am so grateful for that.

I can smell the coffee downstairs waiting patiently for me to go down and grab a mug. I am really excited to be up and about this early. It has been awhile since I stayed up at 6:00 on a weekend. Funny thing is I didn’t even turn the lights out until after 11:00 p.m. last night.

Sometimes we do not realize the direction we are going until we are on our way. I guess that is the case for this Saturday.

I was reading some affirmations from my SECRET SUPER APP and earlier I happen to see: Your thoughts become things and you just have to keep thinking those thoughts and “that thing will become your reality.” After all, that is how I moved to Edmonton and bought this house. I am not sure that it would have happened had I not been filling my head with thoughts of owning my own house in Edmonton near my daughter. I remember while in Regina – checking Real Estate ads in Edmonton. Thinking I could afford this house and I could afford that house. I put the wheels in motion and what happened, I got a house near my daughter and son-in-law. So I know it works. I just have to start thinking that one thought of what I want and keep going toward it. I know it will happen.

Well I should go for now. I hope that you have an awesome Saturday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilties.

P.S. there are always possibilities if we focus on gratitude.

2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you this very windy Thursday morning? Or at least it is windy here in Edmonton, Alberta. I have to apologize (which I have already done) for forgetting to shout out Happy Birthday wishes to my younger brother. I completely forgot that yesterday was his birthday when I was doing this blog and then I got sidetracked when Alvin and I had gone downstairs after I got dressed and wrote my blog to find an Emergency Vehicle, Firetruck and Ambulance parked outside my house. The Head vehicle turned around and left leaving the Firetruck and Ambulance. The Emergency staff from the Ambulance were outside donning their COVID19 gear of gown, masks and gloves. Kind of through me for a loop. I had no idea where they were headed. As they were not coming to my house, they were next closest to Humphrey & Bogart’s house, my heart sank. When they walked past her house, I quickly texted Sonja. My heart was racing. I know most of my neighbours …. some obviously better than others. In a matter of minutes the “phone lines were hot” with people checking on me. They were in the house for what seemed forever but as this was a work day for me, I could not stand at the window gawking out. At some point the firetruck left leaving the ambulance. A bit later I checked and they were back at the ambulance removing their gear. They did not place anyone in the back. I hope that all is well. Not like you can knock on their door and ask. I am not nosey just concerned. So that started my day. Not long after that the wind got up and it started to rain. I could only think how grateful that I was for making Alvin’s vet appointment for Tuesday and not Wednesday. After some rain the rain turned to fluffy snow. So the sidewalks are icy where the wind blew the snow away. I found that out when I went to shovel last night. We did not go for a walk as we had a mini blizzard happening. I did some walking on the spot to get some steps in and of course up and down the stairs several time. Mr. Alvin is now whining at the doorway to the office so I had better get going.

So it was quite the Wednesday. I had a nice chat with my brother last night. He had a good day. Said it was raining in Calgary …. raining for his birthday. The first time he can remember that happening.

Oh and President Trump was impeached for a second time. How could I forget that. This Wednesday will not be forgotten anytime soon.

Time to get this day going.

I hope that you have an awesome Thursday. Hoping you are well and take care, be safe.

Continuing to live our lives with kindness, respect and compassion.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 17th day of December 2018.

Another quite nice day on the way – weather wise.

Yesterday I was feeling more energized after the tooth extraction on Friday.

Dental Assistant did say to relax for 48 hours.

So I did a few things on Saturday and the remaining chores yesterday.

Got a real workout vacuuming all three floors one right after the other.

Usually I do them different times.

Cleaning things as I went.

Poor Alvin ….. he just always wanted to be on the side of the vacuum cord beside me.

He definitely is a “Momma’s Boy.”

House is clean, yay.

Last night we went to the Christmas Zoo Light Event at the Edmonton Zoo, of course.

My son-in-law was not feeling well so we asked my friend’s daughter to go with us.

So we three girls hit the Zoo.

The Zoo is a quick drive from my house.

My daughter who has the car – had a bit of a drive – but not too bad.

When we arrived at the Zoo parking lot we were greeting by a ICE RINK.

Seriously it gleamed in the lights.

Very carefully with small penguin steps we walked to the Zoo.

Inside the Zoo area it was icy but at least there was sand/gravel in places.

To be fair there was a bit of sand/gravel in the parking lot near the entrance.

We were greeting at the entrance by OLAF from Frozen.

So cute.

I even had a hug from OLAF, I am in love.

Next stop was the REINDEER.

There were two of them out and about with their Zoo Assistants.

Talk about beautiful antlers.

I noticed a chunk of snow stuck to the side of one of the REINDEER and made a comment (not too loud but hoping that perhaps one of the staff heard and would brush it off).

Thankfully they did not allow the people including us very close.

They “drew” a line in the snow actually it was a row of rocks and asked everyone to stay on the other side.

I love the Reindeer.

During our first few minutes at the zoo we heard an announcement about someone falling on the ice – calling for an ambulance.

Sounded serious.

I never heard the sirens.

There was a bridge covered in flashing lights.

So pretty.

We walked around and my daughter took some photos of us near some of the light displays.

A couple of the large trees were covered in lights and were so pretty.

We happen to walk by the housing for the Eagles.

One of them was out and my daughter and I happen to walk over.

We just admired him/her.

Right behind us comes a couple of women and a child.

Wouldn’t you know that they would be out with their cameras and on with the flash.

The poor Eagle was traumatized by the light.

I tried very nicely to say something but nope they did not stop.

My heart feel low at that moment.

What is wrong is people?

I could not believe the stupidity.

How would they have liked someone shining this bright light in their eyes.

Honestly…. lately I am never surprised by the lack of common sense in people.

We walked to the IGLOO (not a real one) to warm up (actually for the young one).

We saw Santa and Mrs. Claus – waiting to have their photos taken with the children.

On the way back to the exit – we came across the gift shop.

Wouldn’t you know it – it was open.

We went in and both the girls did some shopping.

My daughter picked up a couple of items for a gift for one of her friend’s baby.

Our young friend picked up a few things.

When we left we once again walked very carefully to the car.

Once in the car, I said to our young friend to sit in the front so she could have the “bum warmer.”

Just after we were all in the car ….. she turned to me and gave me a Reindeer card and then one to my daughter.

I had seen her purchase them in the gift store and did not know that they were for us.

What a sweetheart – so thoughtful.

Well I am catching the bus so have to get with it.

Might be icy so am wearing my ice picks.

Have an awesome day.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to:  Everyone …..

Always, Carol & Alvin
