It is a NEW YEAR.

Oh my how the wind is gusting this morning.

You can hear the vents clanging away.

The air is moderately warm for this time of day.

Alvin is resting on his blue blanket beside my computer chair.

I just entered the SURVEY from Save-on-foods.

It would be great to WIN a $1,000.00 gift card for groceries from there.

That would last me for months.

Keep positive thoughts flowing …. or how lovely ….. I won free groceries.

Back to work this morning.

The weekend zipped by as they so often do.

Yesterday the sun shone for most of the day and the air was warm.

However, it was so icy and messy that I elected for us to stay in the house.

I did go to the mailbox and mail a card to my Aunt in British Columbia.

With hopes it reaches her by her Birthday.

The sidewalks were so ugly that I did not dare to take Alvin out.

We both cannot afford to slip and fall.

He tends to pull a bit at times although he does seem to understand when it is icy out to be careful.

He usually walks until he sees ice and walk and then walks around on the edge of the street where there is snow.

After my one fall earlier this winter … he usually turns around to ensure that I am still there.

What a gentleman, my boy is.

Yesterday I spent some time going through this small trunk/toy chest.

Sorting through papers and things.

Also going through containers that have cards etc.

Every so often I go through to see if I can downsize a bit more.

Just trying to keep the most special ones.

I am just catching a glimpse of some cards that my daughter has given me over the years.

There are a handful that I have posted to my wall size bulletin board.

She always chooses the most beautiful ones with the best thoughts.

That daughter of mine turns 40 in a couple of weeks.

Hard to believe.

Well almost time to head on back downstairs.

I am catching a ride to work for the next couple of weeks with my neighbour.

Grateful for her.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Filled with kindness and respect and fun and laughter.

We always have to have a bit of the latter.

No fun is no way to live your life.

Happy Monday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Well folks we made it through another week.

This weekend marks the end of February 2020 and the beginning of a new month March 2020.

March is an extra special month for me as it is the birthday of my daughter.

Also is the birthdate of my Dad’s only sister, my Aunt, son-in-law’s brother, friend’s children, sister-in-law, niece in-law and some of my most dearest friends.

A busy month to be sure.

Which reminds me that I forgot to pop a card and letter into the mail for my Aunt.

I will do that this weekend and even though it may be late ….. always better to send than not to.

She is of the generation that cards and letters were important.

The largest way of communication next to the telephone.

Long before the days of email, texts and video chats and social media.

I have a good stock of miscellaneous cards as I still love to send them from time to time.

Last night on our walk …. oh, it was so beautiful.

We bumped into the gal that delivers our flyers down the street at the houses near the park.

We stopped for a chat.

The chat carried on for several minutes when all of a sudden I saw out of the corner of my eye and then did a quick spin …

To see by Alvin and me, this chocolate lab pup off leash.

There was a family coming down the sidewalk and I called out to them.

They explained as they got to us that this pup had just joined them.

He/She walked beside them the whole way.

Now as they were on a busy street they were concerned.

No one happened to have an extra leash.

As we were near the house of a friend, I ran up the walk to see if she could help us out with a leash.

She has two small dogs.

But no one was home.

Quick thinking, I thought of tying some poop bags together but that didn’t seem like a great idea, no one had a scarf (I would have given up my scarf, for sure) but I did have

my Bath & Body Works lanyard on my keys.

So I removed the lanyard and it worked perfectly as the pup did have a collar with a ring for hooking leashes.

We hooked up the lanyard and I asked if they were able to take the pup and contact the appropriate authorities and they said of course.

The pup seemed perfectly happy to be with them.

Alvin did okay with the pup considering there was no leash on the pup and hard to hold him/her.

There was a bit of growling on Alvin’s part but the pup was so good natured it did not last.

I hope, pray and wish that they found the pup’s home or the authorities did.

Such a beautiful pup.

There was no one out looking during the time we were out.

I am not certain where exactly the dog joined them.

Best of luck to you little one.

I should have carried my phone but did not have the appropriate place and my hands were full.

Well almost time to leave here.

My neighbour is feeling better and will give me a ride to work this morning.

Yesterday funny story.

I left home a few minutes earlier than what I normally would to catch a bus and when walking by my friend’s house, she was backing out.

She saw me and gave me a ride to the bus stop.

That helped greatly … no dodging ice …. yay, me.

I caught the earlier bus and was to work before 7:30 a.m. ( I do not start till 8 but like to be there early).

Well time to fly.

I hope that you have an awesome, amazing, wonderful day.

Isn’t the morning sky beautiful?

Getting more light everyday.

Take Care.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Treating the world with kindness and respect.

Trying …..

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 27th day of August, 2018.

The lightness cannot peer through the clouds.

It remains partially dark outside.

The air is crisp.

We had some rain overnight.

The house is quiet only the sound of my fingers clicking on the keys and Mr. Alvin snoring on his blue blanket.

Even my breathing is masked by the sounds from my boy.

Teddy went home last night.

His Aunt picked him up as she came home a few days early and Teddy’s parents will enjoy a few more days of well deserved vacation.

I am quite certain that Mr. Alvin misses Teddy and he certainly looked sad when he left the house.

They had a really good time.

There was playing and snuggling.

Just quiet time and walks.

Hard to believe that it is Monday already.

I sure could have slept for a few hours longer.

Alvin had been feeling under the weather but clearly feeling better yesterday and slept well last night.

I am grateful that Alvin has a friend who came come on a regular basis for a visit and sleep over.

It is great to have friends.

He knows so many dogs and people ….. Mr. social butterfly.

I guess that I had better take my umbrella with me this morning.

Well time to hit the road.

Carpool will arrive in a few minutes.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Remember to be kind to yourself and to others.

Life is way too short and we need to live it to the fullest.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to:  my friend “V” … a great friend.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 5th day of March, 2018.

Happy Birthday to my Aunt “L,” who lives in British Columbia.

Wishing you a great day.

The snow finally stopped just after lunch yesterday.

Thank goodness for that …… six times I shovelled the deck …..

We had a nice walk yesterday but the park had not been plowed so we did not get too far.

I watched the OSCARS last night …. 90th Annual.

Very impress with 94 year old Eve-Marie Saint who presented.

She was in the movie “On the Waterfront” in 1954.

Her memory and voice was crystal clear.

Well I am running late.

I hope that you all have a great day.

I know that Saskatchewan was getting the snow that we had and I hope they are all okay.

Saw a bunny run by in the snow and he/she was still WHITE ….. ARGH.

Take care.

Special Hello to: family and friends.

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday July 2, 2016.

Another bright and sunny morning although there are some clouds to the south.

I think they are forecasting occasional showers for today.

Me and Alvin had a wonderful Canada Day.

We both were startled by a loud crash when someone in the neighbourhood fired big fireworks.

I had closed the window earlier because there were smaller ones going off.

Thank goodness it started to rain and put an end to the fireworks.

I doubt very much that they had permission to set them off.

Thank you Mother Nature.

There is a bit of a cool breeze coming in through my office window as I key these words.

I am also reinforcing some buttons on a couple of new tops that one of my friends gave me so that they don’t come off and get lost.

One is a deep purple and the other is a deeper khaki limey green – both which go with a flowery cardigan that I own.

Lucky me.

I love hand me downs ….. I remember as a little girl when boxes of clothing would arrive from our cousins.

My sister and I used to love trying the clothes.

Our Mom made most of our clothes when we were small but as the boys started to come along she just did not have the time.

She also spent a lot of time out doing chores and working on the land.

I definitely did not have the time to sew on top of looking after the small ones, cooking, cleaning and other chores.

Thank goodness my sister was only 18 months younger and was a huge help with most things.

I remember we would have the odd battle but I do believe it was out of frustration as we had huge responsibilities as young ones.

We did love to go to school and even though we missed more than we went our grades were not reflective of that as we felt as though it was a holiday, it was fun.

Well enough down memory lane.

Time to get these buttons tightened and get downstairs and have my breakfast and then COFFEE.

Mr. Alvin had his breakfast earlier at 5:00 a.m.

We want to wish you a great day.

Special Hello to: all those children who grew up before their time …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 16th day of December, 2015.

Not sure if I was not counting right but this morning when I checked the calendar including day and not including Christmas Day there are “EIGHT” days …..

Really I thought there were like nine or ten….. with Christmas Eve or without …..

I think I lost a day somewhere ….

Oh well …… will have to practice my numbers ….. one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten ….. so far so good.

I guess one just has to have a sense of humour and not be afraid to get the facts/details not quite right.

Sometimes people get so hung up on the facts/details … which I do know are so  important.

But losing sight of what is truly important ….

Why debate with someone over a detail that will not end the world.

Why not let it go …. just move on.

I am a detail person but have found that over the recent years I am slowly letting things go ….

Not getting so hung up that my feelings are hurt if I have to let someone be right even though I know that I am right.

Really what difference does it make.

Something like losing a day when counting.

The fact that it did not snow on this day last year.

Or that Aunt Liz was an avid reader and your cousin thought she was into crafts.

At the end of the day ….. it really is not that important (other than being metrologist and you are really keeping track for historical purposes about the snowfall that is).

I am not sure why … now I remember … I lost count in the days leading up to Christmas.

See 277 words to explain ….

Wow, Alvin was just laying down and jumped up and is looking about ….. wonder what that is all about.

I want to keep my house with the only living creatures being Alvin and myself.

Well here it is mid week ….

I am always so excited to check the mailbox this time of year to see if I have received any Christmas cards.

I love to receive cards and letters.

Nice to reconnect with family and friends.

Catch up ….. love those letters.

Well almost time to get into the bedroom and start to get the “face” on (which is considerably less than in my youth), and dressed for work.

Thank you for reading my blog …. it truly means the world to me.

To be able to connect literally with folks such as yourself from every corner of this planet.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my friends who always will be my friends….near or far.

Always, Carol and Alvin
