Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 16th day of December, 2016.

Only 8 sleeps till Christmas Eve.

Time if flying by.

Yesterday Baby Milo and friend Casey spent the day with Mr. Alvin.

My kids set up a puppy cam and until I got home they did pretty well.

They make quite the trio.

One baby, one middle aged and one senior senior.

All guys ….. yikes.

Yesterday I received a surprise email from my friend “V” back in Regina.

She instructed me to check my mailbox after work.

Which I did and what did I find but a huge parcel.

It was heavy …..

Addressed to both me and Alvin.

Lucky boy.

When I walked into the house I had all three babies to distract me so I did not get to opening the parcel until about 1/2 hour later.

Alvin was so excited and kept jumping up as I unwrapped the box.

One parcel had his name on it and he seemed to know.

So I gave it to him and he partially unwrapped it but before baby Milo got into the paper I helped open it.

She gave him a toy and some treats ( I opened the bag and quietly gave him one so that the others did not see).

Casey has bad allergies and cannot have anything other than his food.

Also as of late he seems to be having a problem eating his food (the kids had mentioned that he didn’t eat in the morning).

I remembered from Alvin’s dental visit that they said to add some slightly warm water and let the food sit for a minute or so and then it will soften.

Voile, it worked.

Casey ate it all.

Well I have to run …. getting behind here.

Lots to say but not enough time.

Have a wonderful day.

I will be back tomorrow.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” – always so thoughtful.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. I got lots of good yummy treats to eat.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 19th day of June, 2016.

The sky is a mix of clouds and sunshine.

Today marks “Father’s Day” here in Canada and the United States.

Happy Father’s Day to all those Dad everywhere.

Thank you for watching over your families and for being supportive.

Thank you for everything you do …. from tying shoe laces to reading bedtime stories to teaching us to drive a motor vehicle.

I was just thinking a few minutes ago about Alvin and that he will never have his own family.

We took that from him.

Our hearts and minds were in the right place or that is what we think.

I will admit that I never thought of things from that perspective.

Most dogs when they mate do not stay together anyway because of us.

I know most times there is  legitimate reasoning behind why they do not mate and have the babies together.

But it is sad.

Most animals in the wild stay together.

The male watches over the female and the young ones.

Hunting and protecting.

Just makes me sad that he will never have his own little boy to play with ….

Perhaps that is why most dogs treat the young ones differently than the ones there age or older.

Well food for thought.

Wishing every male on the planet a “Happy Father’s Day” whether you have procreated or not.

I am certain that most males at one point during their lifetime have been protective or helped a young one.

So on that basis I wish you all a Happy Father’s Day.

After all, we should be thinking about this earth as a community, and should be helping each other and every inhabitant, every living creature along the way.

We share this place.

We share this place together.

Well time to go and start making pancakes as my daughter is coming for a visit.

I think it is a good time to make pancakes for her visit.

Have a great day everyone ….

Special Hello to:  all the Dad’s out there … wherever you may be.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 5th day of September, 2015.

Today is the day that my friend arrives to visit from Regina.

She is already in the city visiting with another friend.

Lucky gal … lots of friends.

The sky is clear as the rain clouds have moved on.

The sun is shining.

It is a glorious day.

This is going to be ultra short as I have a few preparations yet to complete.

Always last minute things …. it has to be perfect.

I am even going to bake some “Steeped Tea” confetti cupcakes and the house will smell awesome.

Well I had better hit the shower (get dressed – just ironed my jeans and top).

Still have to vacuum and wash all of the floors so that they are freshly cleaned.

Perhaps a bit of last minute dusting ……

Check each room …..

Write up her card to put alongside her little welcome gift that is sitting on her bed.

I am so excited ….. always great to have guests.

Well it is just after 8:30 a.m. and she will be here around noon.

Better fly …. the time will pass quickly.

Alvin is wondering who I am speaking about …..

Soon he will see her ….. Miss P.

YAY ….. it is a great weekend.

Oh, yesterday we had company …. Miss Penny and Sir Elton.

Penny has been under the weather and was doing great yesterday.

We are hoping that she will be better and in our lives for many, many years to come.

All of our babies …. we love them so much.

Okay …. quit babbling I gotta go …. so excited.

Coffee … drink … shower ….. dressed ….. Alvin what?  outside ….. just a minute.

Thank you for reading my blog … I hope that you have an awesome long weekend.

Special Hello to: all those folks who have company on the way to visit …. enjoy.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 10th day of March, 2015.

Happy Birthday to my son-in-law’s brother “D” who turns “50” today.

So many birthdays this month.

In two days my baby girl, my only daughter turns “35.”

Now that is scary …… really 35 ….. it cannot be.

Where has the time gone.

Well it would appear that spring may have arrived here in Edmonton.

Well at least for the next couple of weeks we will experience plus single to low double digit temperatures.

The icy sidewalks are finally melting and walking home is not such a terrifying experience.

Last night one of my friends from the bus who happens to be a neighbour from down the way ( just met on the bus ) and I walked my regular path.

It has been so icy as of late …. it is the street from which I fell a few weeks back.

So thank goodness for the little things which is pretty huge.

I am so grateful to be able to walk at a regular pace home from the bus stop.

Soon the snow and ice will have melted.

The ground will be relieved to be able to breathe once again.

Life will start to show up all around us ….. leaves on the trees …… baby bunnies ….. the birds will be back.

YAY, I love spring.

I was thinking yesterday morning when I opened my blog and looked at the photo of me and realized that maybe I should put a more recent one up.

I do love that photo but it is a few years old now.

I will of course leave the one of me at a much younger age …. 🙂

Maybe I will post one of me and Alvin …… time will tell.

Right now I have a lot on my plate …. working two jobs ….. seven days a week.

But I do want to get back into writing more …… especially some of the other categories ….

I will …..

Thank you so much everyone for taking time out of your busy lives to read my thoughts …. it is so appreciated.

Well almost time to leave for the office.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

Smile lots ….. keep the faith …… stay positive.

I try to do this everyday ….. there are some days it is a bit harder than others but I do try.

After all, we are human …..

Special Hello to: my family and friends back in Regina …… thank you for always being there.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of March, 2015.

Wow, what a glorious “spring” morning.

The sun is shining down upon this Earth spreading warmth and light.

The air feels crisp and clean.

Spring is on the way.

How I love spring.

I love the growth.

I love the new life.

I love the smells.

I love the feeling.

I love the early sunrise.

Oh how I love spring.

You just cannot beat the feeling of spring.

When I was young the crocuses would cover the fields in a blanket of fuzzy purple wonder.

I remember the baby calves and pigs being born.

Oh how beautiful those babies were ….. some brown and some pink.

So on this Sunday I look to the feeling of renewal …..

Feeling reborn again.

Ready to face the next chapter of my life.

Decisions to be made …. maybe yes …. maybe no.

I just wish that sometimes my life could be easier….

Happy Sunday everyone.

Special Hello to: my fellow over 55 club ….. with our knowledge, wisdom and work ethics we definitely rock ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 12th day of February, 2015.

Wow tomorrow is Friday the 13th and Saturday is Valentine’s Day.

Two weeks till March.

Spring is close.

I love spring.

Some of my fondest memories from my childhood are of spring.

I can recall the “smell” of spring ….. the ice melting ……

The air was so refreshing … inviting.

I remember wanting it to stay that way forever.

Crocuses would cover some of our nearby pasture areas.

The purple so beautiful.

I wished that I would have had a camera …..

I have not seen a purple field of crocuses since I was a little girl.

I remember the first time I actually saw a crocus and thought the flower was wearing a furry blanket.

The thoughts of a child.

Spring also brought the babies ….. I especially loved the baby calves ….. their fur so soft and beautiful.

Spring ….. ODE to spring ……

I love spring.

I shall treasure my memories of you forever.

I shall think of you often.

When I think of you a smile graces my face.

Thank you, spring.

Well here we are once again …. time to go to work.

I would love to be retired so that I could stay at home with me Alvin, make jewellery and write.

I would love to explore writing and take it to the next level.

Have an awesome day.

What brings a smile to your face?

Special Hello to: lovers of spring.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 10th day of August, 2014.

It is overcast and cool this morning which is a nice way to begin the day.

I had the best “57th” Birthday one could ever ask for or even dream about ….

I was surrounded by those that I love.

I received many Birthday Wishes from near and far …

We shared good food ….. some of my favourites which I prepared.

My favourite dessert: fruit pizza covered in a zillion fruits.

Received some beautiful flowers in radiant shades of pink, and unexpected gifts.

We took all of the puppies for a walk after supper.

Just before the movie one of my neighbours dropped by with beautiful hand crafted gifts including the card.

Oh and I also received several beautiful and thoughtful cards.

Ending with a movie at home with my family.

It was the perfect day.

No stress ….. just love.

Just perfect.

I am so grateful that I am able to be home for one more day before returning to the regular routine.

Who knows perhaps I hold some winning lottery tickets …. that truly would be the icing on the cake.

Now off to feed Miss Aussie …. she is the cat of one of my neighbour’s.

Oh, I see the sun coming out.

Mmmm. Nice.

I hope that you all had a great weekend and that it continues on this peaceful glorious Sunday.

Thank you for reading my blog and bringing the number to now over 500.

How very cool …..

Special Hello to:  Happy Birthday to all those August babies.  I have more family and friends with birthdays in August.  I wished that I could celebrate with each and every one of you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Oh, I forgot to download some of my birthday photos ….. later …

Thought for the day……

Today is Friday, March 23rd, 2012 and I have one word that most describes today

” S N O W”  ……

Yesterday morning when I left for work the ground was pretty much bare ….

They were forecasting a bit of snow but by the time I left work the ground was covered by a thick, thick blanket …… a very fluffy (wet) duvet, if you will.

Perhaps even two or three of them or five …..

There was a bit of a wind which made being outside for any extended period of time ….. not the most pleasant of experiences.

One good thing was that it was quite mild.

The snow was heavy and wet.

It took us two hours to get home.

The traffic slowed right down and there were several major accidents one involving fifteen vehicles.

We passed by one three car accident.

Poor Alvin, Elton and Penny and all of the other puppies that were patiently waiting for their “Moms” and “Dads” to get home to them.

When I opened the door for Alvin to go outside …. he hesitated for a moment as he look at the snow on the deck and the snow coming down and then ran for it.

By the time he figured out where he could go …. he was covered by a white blanket of snow.

When he came into the house ….. I wiped off his paws and body …. the snow just packed onto his feet and belly.

Such an experience.  I shovelled a bit of the deck and thanks to my amazing neighbours the snow out front was shovelled and blown away.

So that was so nice and I am eternally grateful.

Well here it is Friday morning and now back outside ….. into it.

Thank goodness that the roads were bare before the snowfall so our street isn’t full of ruts.

I hope that wherever you are ….. you are enjoying whatever weather Mother Nature has decided to send your way.

Have a great Friday and weekend.

I am looking forward to my day off (tomorrow) but have lots to do.

Soon will be starting to do the Census taking for our city.

I wonder how much our population has grown as of late.

There sure seem to be a bunch of babies born or being born …. hope they are born by April 1st so they can be counted.

Otherwise I guess it will be next time.

Special Hello: to my sister and her boyfriend who are travelling in the U.S. …… they will be in San Francisco right now.  Have a blast and safe travels.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

I love this time of year.

Last night Alvin and I heard some geese honking nearby.

Always love the renewal that is spring.

Babies being born.

Green grass poking up in spots.

Tulips blooming (the ones I saw were at the local grocery store).  LOL

But they will be out soon.

The warmness of the sun.

The longer days.

I love this time of year.

Happy Spring Everyone…..

Always, Carol

Nature in all its glory !

This morning  while Alvin and I were out for one of our daily walks at a nearby lake/park we came across some geese.  There were Mamas and Papas and Babies.  Oh, those babies were sooo cute !  They grow fast.  Seems like only a few days ago they were fuzzy little gaffers.  We stopped to enjoy them.  Then to my utter delight this evening while we were out for a walk we came across those delightful beings.  It has been a great day.  Nature never ceases to amaze me.   The Mamas and Papas have their formation that they take when out with their little ones.  One leads, one on each side about the mid point,  and then one takes the end position.  I might add that they had a rather large family – about “30” little ones.  This was the best day.  🙂
