Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 4th day of June, 2018.

The sky is overcast this morning.

Last night both Alvin and I were suddenly awaken by a crack of thunder.

Followed by some rain.

Not any breeze that I can see.

Not raining this morning but looks as though it may.

We are still dry here and every bit of rain helps along with the sunshine so that all the plant life will grow and flourish.

We had another wonderful weekend.

Just working and relaxing and relaxing and working.

We enjoyed our walks together.

I am puzzled by something.

A couple of weeks ago I saw this man and woman while we were walking.

We have bumped into them on occasion.

They had a baby with them and I said “Oh, you had your baby” and replied “Yes, five months ago.”

I replied “Seems like only recently that I saw you.”

Which it does seems like well within the last month that she was expecting and now the baby is five months old.

We saw the Mom and baby out for a walk yesterday afternoon.

Perhaps I am in some time of different dimension or something.

Time warp.

I do not know.

Pretty sure it was not five months since we saw them and she was expecting.

Yikes, pretty freaky if you think about it.

Time goes that quickly?

Argh, AGE?

Mm, I do not know.

Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience?

Funny just how fast time does pass.

Funny, strange and scary.

Well almost time to go downstairs and finish getting ready for work.

My ride will be here shortly.

Enjoy each moment because at the rate they appear to be passing …. you know what I mean.

Have an awesome Monday.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. talk to you soon.

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Sunday, July 23, 2017 and it is the 18th day until my 60th Birthday.

What makes me happy? joyful?

Simple things, actually.

I love walking with Alvin in the earlier part of the morning before it gets warm (in the summer).

I love reading a good book.

I love sharing a good cup of coffee with my daughter and all my friends.

I love snuggling with me Alvin on the sofa watching a movie.

I love good food, nothing complicated, simple, honest food.

I do love chocolate (try to do in moderation not always successful).

I love to laugh with my sister and my brothers.

I love ALL time spent with my daughter.

I love doing creative projects with my daughter whether jewellery making or something else.

I love good conversation with my super knowledgable son-in-law.

I love sitting on the deck in the summertime gazing up at the stars.

I love the simple things in life.

The smell of a baby.

The smell of the roses that line the pathway to our parks.

The touch of a cool breeze on my face.

Walking through puddles of water and splashing (just like a little one).

The list is a mile long but always simple things.

Always, Carol

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Monday, July 17, 2017 and it is the 24th day until my 60th Birthday.

I will say that picking out a memory from each of my almost 60 years is not easy.

2000: Came in without most of the problems that were forecasted regarding the computers, which was a huge relief.

2001:  ???

2002:  My beloved daughter moves to Edmonton, Alberta and two days later I go on a vacation to the U.S. with a friend.  It was perfect timing so I would be moping around the apartment missing my girl.  Still missed her but was not at home to be reminded every moment.  Visited Las Vegas and area and went to San Diego and the day trip to Mexico (the crossing was out of a movie and not a good thing). A close family friend’s daughter had first of her three children.

2003: My first great niece was born ….. such a cutie pie.

2004: ????

2005: My first born great nephew and the apply of his “Anta’s eye.”

2006:  ????

2007:  Elton John concert?  or was it 2006?  Regardless of when it was amazing.

2008:  My first born nephew marries, I retired from working at same company for 30 years and my daughter marries all within a couple of months.  Attend Celine Dion Concert in Edmonton.

2009: Buy my first house, 1/2 duplex in Edmonton close to my daughter and son-in-law and grand-pups and move to Edmonton at end of March.  My beloved J passes.

2010:  Enjoying semi-retirement.  Back to Regina for a visit with my girl.

I may have to locate my daily journals to find out what was going on in 2001, 2004 and 2006.

Obviously, I do not remember anything specific.

YIKES.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 18th day of April, 2017.

Well I saw a few mini snowballs escaping from the sky and coming down to earth.

It is dark with the overcast sky.

They are forecasting more snow ….. ARGH.

All I can think of is the poor little ROBINS in all this snow and colder temperatures.

I hope that they will be okay.

Well did you all have a wonderful weekend?

Mine was very nice …… mostly just hanging out with me Alvin.

Nothing wrong with that …..

To be honest I could have done things around the house but I chose to just do the necessities and to just relax.

It was great to have HODA KOTB back to the Today Morning Show with Kathie Lee Gifford.

She is one happy Momma.

So happy for her and Joel.

So back to work this morning.

Back to our routine.

Nothing like a routine.

Well it is almost time to leave for work.

I will be wearing my winter boots and coat (be prepared, I always say).

There is the potential for lots of snow and I do not wish to ruin my shoes.

Happy Tuesday ……

Special Hello to: my family and friends all over the world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of March, 2016.

WOW, they are forecasting +5 degrees for today.

I do believe spring is even closer than we may have thought.

I do hope so.

Last night it was not dark until almost 8:00 p.m.

Oh, what a welcome change from December and dark at 4:00 p.m. or so.

I can hardly wait to see if my spring flowers will come up.

I hope that they survived the winter.

When our temperatures go from the + degrees to – double digits it is hard on the trees and other plant life.

We have snow and then it melts.

Then it gets colder.

More snow.

The cycle continues.

Melts …. snows…..cold….

Been a crazy winter for weather.

Well here it is Tuesday and almost the middle of the month.

Tomorrow is my great niece’s birthday.

I believe that she may be a teenager – if my calculations are correct.

OH my goodness.

Truly the time flies.

Well the time is almost near for me to don my outside apparel and hit the road.

Catch the bus and go to work.

My bus ride is about one hour in length.

I usually take the time to snooze, relax, meditate and think about my day.

If you take public transportation ….. other than checking out things on your phone.

You could snooze, relax, meditate and just ponder life.

Somedays I think that in future generations children will be born with bent necks and thumbs.

Maybe that is because I do not have a phone ….. no, I am certainly not jealous.

It is the constant contact that people seem to need with that rectangular box.

Food for thought.

Gotta run.

I hope that you have an awesome Tuesday.

Just try and put your phone away for a period of time.

There is a whole other world out there just waiting for you…….

Special Hello to: my sister ….. Sunday ….. SKYPE, well YES.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 6th day of March, 2016.

It is about 8:00 a.m. and the sun is coming up ….. another beautiful morning.

Yesterday from what people tell me the temperature was 15 degrees celsius here in Edmonton, and that would greatly explain why people were out and about in shirtsleeves.

In fact, I had several windows open yesterday and the furnace did not even cut in that is how warm it was in the house.

My daughter brought me Alvin home in the morning.

He looks so handsome with his new hair……my kids did such an amazing job.

We had coffee before going to the Vet.

Lucky for us ….. we got to borrow the car because she had a lunch date with one of her friends a bit later.

I topped off the morning by a trip to the grocery store.

There was a group doing fundraising in the store …. they were located inside the store just past the entrance.

A small boy approached me and asked me if I would like to buy a box of chocolate almonds.

I told him that I did not have any cash on me but would get some from the cashier on my way out.

I guess it was the Boy Scouts ….. but how could you say no to a nice little boy.

So guess who purchased “2” boxes on her way out of the store.

No wonder a trip to the grocery store is expensive.

There are always so many things “not on your list.”

Oh well …… good to support these groups.

I finally can check a semi large job off the list or at least half of it as I “cleaned my main floor blinds.”

They are a pain but now they are clean.

Well this morning I am going out for a short while with one of my neighbours.

It would seem that once I got home and was unpacking groceries I found that I forgot two very important items.

After all that …….

Later today one of my friends from Regina is coming to stay with me for a bit as her grandson is in the Children’s Hospital here in Edmonton.

She will be watching the older grandson while his parents stay with the new baby at the hospital.

I haven’t seen her for years so will be nice to reconnect.

Well I guess time to get this show on the road.

To remember …. always lend a hand when you can.

Sometimes it is only a “bed.”

Have an awesome Sunday.

Most of my work is done so it will be a nice relaxing day …..

Special Hello to: those people who give of themselves and ask nothing in return, may abundance follow you always.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of August, 2015.

Wow, can you believe it …. only two days left till the end of August.

I do love the end of summer and the months that follow named “AUTUMN.”

The colours …. the air …. mmm.

Well I had an interesting day yesterday.

Mr. Alvin had some mysterious illness.

He wouldn’t even eat some banana in the morning …. his eyes were glazed.

Definitely not feeling good.

Just over one hour after we got up he tried to throw up but did not.

He yelped whenever he jumped off the sofa.

I booked an appointment with the vet and by the time we could get in he was almost back to himself.

It scares me when he is not feeling well ….. if he could talk ….

I didn’t want to leave him alone ….. after all he is my baby.

Later in the afternoon my daughter and grand-pups dropped by.

They had been to an appointment with the vet (we go to the same one).

Poor Penny did not have a great report.

Elton is doing good.

With our Miss P …. well I am certain that with medicine and perhaps change in diet she will be okay.

She is a strong girl.

I popped out for groceries … borrowed the car.

They stayed for supper ….

After supper my neighbours down the street popped by to drop off their shop vac so that I can finish cleaning the dust from the dry wall.  I already wiped the walls down but there is yet another coat of dust so will wipe down again and then use the shop vac.  Hopefully soon I will be able to move everything back into that room.

We also debated about my tree.

The roots have decided to come to the surface.

Now this did not happen over night.

Unfortunately for me, I did not realize what it was until this year.

I do remember bits of something hard coming to the surface and then breaking through.

But it never occurred to me that it was the roots of the tree until this summer.

Anyway my neighbour went back to his house and got his axe.

We had a good laugh about him carrying the axe down the street (he put it in a garbage bag for transport).

He joked about how strong my swing was …..

We chopped the roots that were closest to the sidewalk at the front porch and the one closest to the retaining wall at my flower bed.  Pulled them out.

I will probably have to cut the tree down in the spring and rip up the lawn to pull up the roots which are all over the place.

They really seemed to have grown this year.

I guess I will be landscaping in the spring.

After we chopped and pulled some roots we all went for a walk … Mr Alvin, too.

It was a perfect evening.

So what a day.

Well I am having company for coffee shortly so better go and have a shower.

Mr. Alvin gets a hair cut today and bath.

Lots to do.

The sky is hazy here with smoke.

Blocking out the brightness of the sun’s rays.

I am grateful at the end of the day that I have good friends and family.

I am grateful for this beautiful weather.

I am very grateful that Alvin is feeling better.

I am grateful that Miss Penny will be feeling better soon and that Elton is good.

My grand-pups…..

Enjoy your Saturday.

Keep your eyes open and question things that are out of the ordinary.

I wished that I would have mentioned those hard spots in the ground sooner.

Alas …. that is life.

Everything happens for a reason.

Special Hello to: all of my friends and family everywhere and thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 28th day of May, 2015.

Overcast this morning.

Guess what?

We finally got a bit of rain last night.

Very much needed.

I hope that this dark blue sky filled with rain clouds brings us some more throughout the day.

It is windy outside.

Makes me want to go back to bed and curl up with Mr. Alvin.

I am working on showing my happiness this week.

So much of the time we walk around looking “mad.”

For some reason smiling does not seem to be a natural facial expression.

Or at least with me.

People often ask, “Are you okay?”

I reply “I am great.”

So now I have to make my outside match my inside.

It is a process……

I AM HAPPY ….. SMILING.

Thinking of something that makes me smile.

A puppy ….. Mr. Alvin.

A little baby ……

CHOCOLATE …..

FLOWERS …..

That is my project ……

I hope that you have an awesome Thursday.

Time to go to work.

Special Hello to: my fellow bloggers …. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 15th day of March, 2015.

Today is the Birthday of my great-niece “S” …… Happy Birthday Darling.

Seems like she was just a baby a few months ago….. now she is 12.

I always loved when she would come for a sleepover with her Grandma, my sister.

I barely got over my daughter turning “35” and now this baby niece is 12 and I haven’t aged a bit.

Well okay maybe a bit …. couple years or so.

Time just has a way of getting away on us, and we forget just how important it is to take even though occasional “free moments” to tell those around you that you love them.

To remind each other that we are important……

To remember all of those shiny moments such as births…..

That is going to be my “note to self” …… try to contact in some way shape or form as many family and friends to tell them that I have not forgotten them and that I do think of them often and that I care.

Likely will be via FB or email but still I am going to reach out.

Considering that I work seven days a week now ….. but challenging oneself is always good.

So on this bright sunny awesome morning I ask you to contact at least one person that you have not been in recent touch with to say “Hello.”

Simple as that.

You can write, telephone, text, email, FB, tweet, SKYPE or any other form of communication you can think of ….. okay.

Let’s do it.

Have the best Sunday ever.

Thank you for being you ….

Special Hello to: my great-niece “S”

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 12th day of January, 2015.

WOW ….. almost my youngest brother’s 50th Birthday ….. it is tomorrow.

I cannot believe it.

Time flies.

Yesterday he was a baby…..

Or so it seems.

Yesterday one of my co-workers from the store had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her.

She is a great lady …..

You never know what the day will bring ….

I had one customer yesterday who was very mean to me.

I was only doing my job.

I hope that she realized this at some point.

Another customer even pointed out her rudeness.

Life is too short …

Just be kind.

We are all just trying to make our way.

We are all just trying to make a living.

Be kind to those dear souls working in retail.

It is not “easy” work ……

I hope that you all have a wonderful Monday.

Special Hello to: my friend “B” from the store ….. hope you are well soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin
