Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 14th day of March, 2015.

My first Saturday to work at the store in a long while.

I used to work the occasional one but not on a regular basis.

This begins working Saturdays for a while with no day off.

Wish me luck or rather give me your great energy to keep doing what I need to do.

I have a fair amount of energy, and hopefully can keep it up for as long as I need.

Lucky for me I do love to work at the store ….. my favourite part meeting new people everyday and of course, running into our regular customers.

The sun is now shining so the promise of a another melting day is great.

YAY ….. finally our sidewalks are clearing up and then me and Alvin will be walking all of the time …..

Both of us have put on a “tiny bit” in the mid section …. okay maybe a bit more than a bit ….. but we will get back to being trim and toned over the next few weeks.

It will be interesting to see how busy the mall is on a Saturday …. from other staff they say it is busy and the time flies by.

I have a short shift which is good because I have “laundry on the mind” and other stuff …..

We all need clean clothes …… right !!

I am relaxing for a bit sipping on my delicious cup of coffee while I write/key these words.

Alvin is standing on the bed looking out of the window which I opened a few inches to gather some fresh air.

I might just leave it open for the day.

Well my darlings I am going to go and get that second cup of coffee.

Thank you so much for reading my words and giving me the energy to keep doing what I love.

It is between us both that I can keep doing this …..

Thank you.

Nothing like listening to Sam Smith while you are drinking coffee …. love his music.

Special Hello to: all those people who read my blog, thank you so much.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 5th day of December, 2014.

Another gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

Only twenty days until Christmas Eve.

Can you believe it?

WOW.

I am excited to catch up on my television shows tomorrow while I am baking.

The day is planned.

Back to Friday …. well Mr. Alvin is laying on “our” bed grooming himself ……

He hears something outside and his head jerks up to look out.

Then as quickly as he is up …. he is laying back down …..

All of that cuteness is too much for me.

I feel the love for him deep down in my heart.

Embedded like diamonds in the rock ….

I am so grateful that I was able to adopt him and that he joined our family.

He is such a great addition.

January will mark five years with us…..

Last day of the week at the office …. working tonight at the store….. baking tomorrow and back to the store on Sunday.

I do especially love working Friday nights …… there is something about a Friday night.

Well I hear the rustling of my son-in-law so soon it shall be time to leave for work.

My daughter has the day off from work.

I hope that you have a most enjoyable Friday whether at home or at work.

If at home watch a Christmas show for me …… I have not had time as yet.

Happy Friday ……

Special Hello to: all of my family and friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 27th day of November, 2014.

Today marks the 40th Birthday of one of my friend’s “K.”

He is the husband of a good friend of mine.

Such a great guy …..

Happy Birthday ….

So many Birthdays in November …… even some I did not remember.

Well only three days left until December.

I was in slight panic mode until I remembered “write down everything that I have to do”

If you break things into manageable pieces then it does not feel to be so overwhelming.

You are more likely to get things completed or accomplished in this way.

With working three nights each week along with Sundays I really have to get better at time management.

There is not too  many hours that I am actually home and awake.

Wednesday and Thursday nights basically I come home make lunch for the next day and lay out my clothes and then ready for bed.

Friday nights I give myself a bit of time to unwind before going to bed.

Although I will say that I did not lay awake last night so my body is adjusting to this new timetable.

I do enjoy working at the store.

Now if we could get the puppies to follow my lead.

Alvin always hears me come into the house and wants to come down to meet me.

Everyone in the house is already in bed.

So it will take a bit more adjusting, methinks.

Oh well …. that’s life.

One moment and one bark at a time.

I hope that you have an amazing Thursday.

I look forward to meeting some more awesome customers tonight at the store.

Special Hello to: everyone that celebrates a Birthday today…

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 20th day of November, 2014.

Another beautiful morning here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It was a great night at the store last night.

Had some awesome customers.

Two Managers from other stores stopped by, and it was great to see them (used to work at West Edmonton Mall store).

There were quite a few shoppers out and about picking up things for Christmas and others getting ideas.

So another Thursday … tomorrow Friday ….. wow, it sure seems like it happened yesterday.

I guess when time passes quickly that is a good sign …… means I am keeping busy and doing things that I enjoy.

Mr. Alvin even sat on my “lap” this morning as I wrote in my gratitude journal.”

I love when he does that …… he used to want up all of the time when I was at the table writing but as of late it has been sporadic.

Which is okay ….. a Mom will take any cuddles time she can get ….. 🙂

Thank you to all those wonderful people who take the time to read my blog.

Between working two jobs, having a house to look after, my Alvin, visiting my nephew at the hospital, the jewellery business; I do not often have the time to read many of my fellow bloggers fine work but I do try, and read as many as I can.  I appreciate you taking the time for me.

Special Hello to: my fellow BLOGGERS – you guys rock – keep up the great work.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 19th day of November, 2014.

Tonight I work my first Wednesday night at the store.

Now begins the schedule of working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights and then Sundays.

I wonder how many people shop on a Wednesday night ….. guess I will find out this evening.

With it being the start of the holiday shopping season ….. I am sure there will be people out and about.

Our weather is still mild here in Edmonton which has been great.

My daughter and I had a great walk with the puppies last night.

They ran and ran …… so cute.

Oh what a life they have …….

Has this been a good week?

I started with conflicting feelings and trying to pull myself back to the light …..

I managed on Tuesday to change things around and everything worked out.

It makes a huge difference if you are feeling good and keeping your thoughts and actions going in a positive direction.

Now I know we are human and humans for some reason cannot seem to stay positive and happy at all times.

We are drawn in by our “ego self” and surroundings.

Perhaps things may not always work out perfectly but they sure can be close.

It is all a mindset.

Change your mind and change your life.

I remember a famous person stating that mantra.

It is so true.

I am so grateful to be living the life that I do.

Filled with love and laughter and so much more.

So on this Wednesday I hope that you find kindness and joy all around and if not create it.

Smile ….. open a door ….. buy someone a coffee …… help a neighbour …… LET US DO SOME GOOD THINGS ….. NO, LET US DO SOME GREAT THINGS TODAY.

Special Hello to: my friends who always stand beside me ….. not ahead or aback.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Welcome to Sunday the 2nd day of November, 2014.

It is overcast but relatively warm here in Edmonton.

I am almost ready to set off for an eight hour shift at the store.

Should be a fun day.

Yesterday was an awesome day I got so much accomplished including setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the inside of the house.

My daughter helped me as usual with the tree and it is always so much fun…..

Where should that Angel go? or is there too many red balls in one spot?

The tree looks awesome and I enjoyed looking at the lights last night as I watched a couple of movies.

The Halloween decorations came down just before the Christmas decorations went up.

Tomorrow night we girls will decorate the front of the house (we is my neighbour in the other half, my daughter and I).

That is always fun, too.

I love this time of year.

Our store is in the festive mood already …… and more to come.

Well time for a cup of coffee before I head out the door.

So grateful that my daughter and son-in-law are here for Alvin.

YAY.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Special Hello to: all those lovers of the holiday season ……. decorating and then taking it all in…….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 30th day of October, 2014.

One more sleep until Halloween and the last day of October 2014.

I have been trying to decide on a Halloween costume for the office.

I am working out front at the office seeing clients, and then from there going to work at the store.

So it has to be something easy that I can just change out of at lunch time.

I shall miss seeing all of the little ones coming to my house.

We shall see …… always time to change one’s mind.

Do you throw together something from your closet and house for a costume?

I think it is much more fun to throw something together …. put those creative juices to work.

Some news.

I found out from my neighbour that the yellow cat that has been showing up at our homes off and all for the past couple of months actually has a home a short distance away.  What a relief.  The cat has a name “Barney.”  That so suits him.  I had thought that “he” was a “she” but then again it was just a feeling as I thought that a male cat would not warm up to the dogs like it did but I was incorrect.  That is okay.  I am so thankful that the cat has a home.  Barney was a farm cat – a barn cat at that and likes to get out of the house from time to time.  Anyway we are all happy that we did not find a forever home for him or keep him only to find out that he had a home.  My neighbour even put a notice up on the computer.  Guess there was a reason.

Last night my daughter and I went to visit my nephew and her cousin.  He is now in the neurological unit.  Definitely seems to be improving although he has not come out of the coma yet.  When I mentioned his brother’s name he became very active. I will take that as good sign.  We will continue to be hopeful.

So on this Thursday I hope that life is treating you kindly, and that you are treating life with kindness.

Happy Thursday.

Special Hello to: my sister ……. will talk to you soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 24th day of October, 2014.

Dark outside ….. it does take awhile to get used to waking up to that …..

This is our reality for the next few months.

Shorter days …… longer nights.

I like the longer night part ….

Soon our clocks will be changed back one hour.

I always get a kick out of Alvin ……. because now we get up at 5:00 …… once the change happens it will be 4:00.

It does throw us off …..

Why is it that change plays such havoc with all of us living breathing beings.

Personally myself I do enjoy change …… preferably in small doses.

But change means growth.

Sometimes you just have to run with it and see where you can go.

I have had massive change in my life over the past about 7 years ….

Some of it was great and some not so.

But I did grow and learn and that is good.

So on this Friday ….

Be okay with change ….. sometimes it does take getting used to a new norm.

After all ….. whatever becomes routine is the new norm.

Well time to go to work.

I hope that you have a great Friday.

As will I.

Working at the store tonight …

Always enjoyable.

Special Hello to: people facing change ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 20th day of October, 2014.

It poses to be another great day.

They are forecasting 21 degrees celsius for this day.

What a great way to start the week.

Yesterday we celebrated my daughter and her husband’s 6th Wedding Anniversary.

I picked up some yummy cupcakes from a little kiosk in West Edmonton Mall called “Once Upon a Cupcake,” on my way home from working at the store.  The kids ordered in Chinese food.  We had a yummy supper and dessert.

As time goes on here my nephew is slowly recovering.  I hope to go and see him one night this week.

Sometimes we want things to go at a wicked fast pace and that is not always the plan.

We just have to take one second, one moment at a time.

If you are in the moment and just do one at a time they will of course roll into many more and it will become easier to live the life of your dreams.

Always dream ….. I know that sometimes we get hung up in our day to day life and forget to dream.  Dreams are a very important pat of our lives.

So on this Monday just remember to live in the moment and do not be afraid to dream a little.

I hope that you have an awesome Monday.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers …. keep realizing your dreams.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 15th day of November, 2013.

How are you this fine morning?

YAY, are you happy it is the weekend?

Perhaps you work as I do for part of the weekend.

I still look forward to the weekends.

I look forward to having coffee and working on our jewellery with my daughter and also having coffee with my friends.

I look forward to working at the store because it makes me happy.

Once in awhile there is a cranky customer and it throws me off balance but for the most part I love my job.

We have the best staff.

It is beginning to be a busy time of year for most people with the holidays right around the corner.

So remember to take time for yourself.

If you get rundown and or sick then you miss out on so much.

Remember to relax and enjoy.

Enjoy those moments that just happen.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all those folks who work tirelessly in retail ….. I wish that employers would give all of their employees a bonus for the holidays ….. something to show how much they are appreciated.  After all without them they would not have a successful business.

Always, Carol and Alvin
