Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 13th day of May, 2018.

The sky is bright filled with the morning sunlight and there is a breeze.

Coolness filled the bedroom this morning.

Grateful for that on a day that will be very warm.

************************

Happy Mother’s Day.

We all play a role in Mother’s Day.

You may have given birth to a child.

You may have adopted a child.

You may have adopted or rescued a pup or a cat or a bird or a squirrel.

You may have given refuge to another human being.

It does not matter how or who you have given mothering to but it matters that you do.

To all those Mothers out there.

Happy Mother’s Day.

You arise early so that you can make breakfast for your charges.

You walk and talk with them.

You love them and comfort them.

You hope that they will be in good health.

You hope that they will be kind and good to themselves and to others.

You hope that their life will be abundant.

Above all else … you have faith.

So on this one day a year that is specially marked for us to celebrate our Mothers.

Let us do so.

Be creative.

Walk with them, talk with them, spend time with them.

Mothers do not WISH for you to bring them fancy jewellery, huge bouquets of flowers or dinners at a fancy restaurant.

They just want YOU.

Happy Mother’s Day.

To all the Mothers out there, the others that I know and the ones that I do not know.

You are precious.

There could not be life without you.

Happy Mother’s Day.

With Love….

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Friday, July 14, 2017 and it is the 27th day until my 60th Birthday.

So if you are a family member or friend reading these posts, please do not be offended if I missed something like your birth.

It was truly important to me but when you are almost sixty ….. sometimes you remember these things a bit later ….. like the day after..

Well let us see here ….. what year are we at …… this is not as easy as it may seem….

1978: Flew to U.S.A. with friends in a four seater airplane.  It was awesome.  Went to LA, baby ….. Saw JAWS at Universal Studios, saw Queen Elizabeth, and so much more.  Dipped toes in the ocean.

1979: BIG NEWS – expecting – was so excited.

1980: The birth of my daughter in March.  The constant that lights up my life as she did back then and continues to do now. BEST YEAR EVER.

1981:  Being a Mom was great …. once you get past the “no sleep stage.”  I even did some sewing and made us some matching outfits with help.

1982:  Living with my sister and my nephew and my daughter ….. we had fun ….

1983:  Survived major flood in Regina in July ….. we were living in a basement suite …. me and my girl……

1984: My first niece was born ……

1985: My daughter starts kindergarten….

1986: On my Fridays off from work I would walk to my daughter’s school and pick her up and we would walk to the nearby mall and have lunch.  So much fun treating her to lunch and spending that precious time together.

1987: Clearly she ruled in the memory department ….. she was my world and remains so to this day.  I do share that world with Me Alvin and my son-in-law and their fur babies but she was the first born and will always be extra special.

This is a good test of the old memory banks.

Always, Carol

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Wednesday, July 12, 2017 and it is the 29th day until my 60th Birthday.

Okay so what can I say that I have not said before ….. mmm, let me think about this?

How about one memory from each of my almost 60 years?

Some may be good and some may be sad but memories are memories.

It takes a bit of both to make a lifetime.

Okay here goes:

1957:  BORN AUGUST 9TH, – Absolutely no memory of this date at all.

1958: Still no memory comes to mind.

1959: My baby sister was born on February 23rd.  I do remember her when she was a baby (we are 18 months apart).

1960: Cooling off on a hot summer day in the shade of one of our many lilac bushes on the farm when I felt something scratching at my little bottom.  Jumped up and found that I had sat on the edge of a nest of baby mice.  Thankfully no Momma Mouse only tiny pink things ….. but scarred me for most of my life.

1961:  Sliding down a big hill of snow in our yard on the farm.

1962:  My first baby brother was born on August 11th,  two days after my 5th Birthday.

1963:  I started Grade One and my second baby brother was born on November 10th.

1964: Summer we moved into the big house that my Dad built on the farm.  Went from three rooms to ten not including the basement.

1965:  My third baby brother was born on January 13th and I turn 8 this August.

1966:   Turning nine meant another year older and even more chores on the farm.  Remember loving school.

Tomorrow 1967 …..

Always, Carol

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 18th day of January, 2015.

Overcast but relatively mild here in Edmonton.

I had a great Saturday ….

Started off by having coffee with girl friends and our hostess made us treats …. yummy.

Two of us decided to take a quick trip to our nearby Target store.

By the way they are closing all of the Target stores in Canada ….. too bad about that.

I know several people that are quite upset about losing them, including me.

We did not go to see if there were great sales or anything we went because we like/love some of the brands they carry.

I splurged and bought new bedding for when I redo my bedroom in the spring and also new shower curtain, bath mat and several sets of towels.

AND two of the most gorgeous pillows for my bed.

SO exciting … they just happened to have the right colour selection and I happened to be able to afford them.

Perfect combination.

So my Saturday was awesome.

My daughter and I took all of the puppies for a walk.

Note to self: it is slippery …. ICY out there.

With these mild temperatures ….. have to be careful.

So today it is off to the store to work a shift.

Last day of our semi-annual sale so will be busy.

We recently started to sell our jewellery on ETSY and received our first sale yesterday.

Very exciting.

So many things to be grateful for and I certainly am.

Well just enjoying a delicious cup of coffee and then have to pack up and leave for work.

Wish you a great Sunday.

Oh, tomorrow is Alvin’s Birthday we will say that he is “6” as we are not sure of his actual birth.

Five years that we have been together……

WOW.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all those artsy folks out there …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 10th day of December, 2013.

Almost time to do the official countdown ….

Still a few sleeps before that ….

We started to ponder the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Menus.

We change it up for year to year ….. but always have our old favourites in some shape or form.

Last night I had a chat with my beloved sister …

Man, how I miss her ….

She is one of the few people on this earth who have been with me since birth …. and I with her.

We have our moments and then we have our MOMENTS.

No matter what though at the end of the day WE LOVE EACH OTHER UNCONDITIONALLY.

Isn’t that what it is all about …..

She is a wonderful human being and I am so blessed to have her as my sister.

One of my favourite photos of me and my sister “Cindy” ….. she is the cuteness on the left, and me, same hair cute just a couple of years older.

I am blessed when it comes to the people in my life.

I am always surrounded by interesting and loving folks.

Who challenge me.

Who keep me grounded.

Who love me.

That’s my life.

Crazy good, I believe.

Snowing again …… WINTER ….

Fa la la ….. la la ….. la la la la ….

Special Hello to: the people in your life.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Today is Wednesday, April 4th, 2012.

On this day …. I am remembering family.

There are so many cousins, Aunts and Uncles and even my siblings.. nieces and nephews that I would love to see.

Sometimes there are things that are beyond your control …. even with all of the positive influences on the planet and beyond …

But I do wish that I had the time and means to spend more time with all of my family near and especially far.

At the end of the day …. I find in reflection that I have missed out on learning about, and being with some very “cool” people …. my relatives.

They have interesting stories and are great people.

My heart is filled with love and my soul with the richness that they have brought to me since my birth.

So my family wherever you are ….  you are and always will be in my heart and soul.

Even when I am not able to be physically with you ….. I am with you …. for now and forevermore.

Take care my loved ones…… I hear your laughter and see your smiling faces in my mind’s eye.

I shall treasure all those moments that we have had …..

Special Hello:  to my FAMILY ….. you ROCK …..

Always, Carol and Alvin
