2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you on this fine Sunday morning? Alvin and I are doing well. Went to bed a bit early for a Saturday night before 9:30, the boy slept until I believe it was around 4:00 and then we were up at 7:00. Now that would have been a great time to get up and start the day but I just felt like snuggling on the sofa with Alvin. I feel asleep and the next thing I knew it was almost 9:00. WOW. I was grateful for the extra sleep. Nice to wake up to bright sunshine. Another windy day but perhaps it will subside. I am not sure why it is so windy in Edmonton. Is there an actual reason or just because? Yesterday we had an awesome day, up and did most of the things that I had planned to do, had a nice walk with Alvin and one of my friends that lives nearby came over for a deck visit. Oh it was so wonderful. I made coffee and we sat and chattered away for about two hours. By the time we finished up it was almost time to feed Mr. Alvin (4:20 p.m.). What a great day. Work and Play. Does not get much better than that for sure. I am grateful to my friend for coming to add some “play” to my day. Thanks “G.” I have one more load of laundry – Alvin’s blankets to wash and then continuing on the washing of my daughter’s baby/little girl clothings and baby blankets. I am removing the chemical smell from them. It is taking a few washings of each load but it is working. I then want to snap photos of each item so that my daughter has them. Will perhaps get them printed into a book for her. That way if she chooses not to keep them, she has a photo as a reminder. I am thinking that she will keep the special blankets. The clothing is in mint condition and I am sure that some little girls out there would like to wear some of the items. Most little girls clothing does not change much over the decades. Also was thinking that I should be deleting photos from my computer as I have them backed up with a company that I am paying for to do so. Makes sense to get them off the computer. Perhaps not all but a good portion. I am still going through my phone as well deleting duplicate and poor shots. Why is it so difficult to keep up and to do this. This is high on my TO DO LIST to accomplish before the end of the summer. Likely should have been doing during the winter but that did not happen so summer it will be. If I just spend one hour each day doing this ….. it would get done. Perhaps from now on, one hour before we would go to bed, we could come upstairs and I could work on it otherwise get up earlier and do it in the morning. Either would work. I need to get it done. It is much easier to keep putting it off until you can no longer. I am quite certain it is the 40,000 some odd photos on my computer that is slowing it down. I would be slow if I had that many photos in my memory. Whoops, of course I have that many and more and perhaps that is why I am so slow some days, lol. Oh well.

I watched part of one of my all time favourite movies “Black Panther” last night. It was on television so I set the PVR and recorded it so that I can keep watching it over and over and over again. Love that movie. So we will be watching from the beginning this evening my favourite movie. It is three hours long with commercials.

Time to get this day rolling. Mr. Alvin is being extra patient this morning. Lucky Momma. My flowers are looking beautiful and I am over the moon full of gratitude that they survived our recent “late spring storm” and look forward to enjoying them until September or so. I must make a note of spending more time on the deck. Taking my coffee breaks on the deck during the week would be a great idea. At lunchtime we go for walks.

Life is great. I am so grateful for each and every moment. Even the ones on the sofa like this morning where I had the oddest dreams with family that I have not seem for a long time. It was great.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 25th day of February, 2019.

Well appears that we are in for another cold spell.

With one day this week possibly in the single digits.

But time will tell.

In the meantime dress in layers, wear your toque or hat, scarf, winter coat (if you don’t have a heavy one wear sweater underneath), mitts (warmer than gloves) and BOOTS.

Always keep your heat, feet and hands warm covered when outside.

Watch your children and your pets.

Keep them protected.

Well the OSCARS, the 91st Academy Awards were on last night.

There were definitely some surprises but then again I am used to seeing that….

Green Book won for Best Picture.  My favourite was BLACK PANTHER.

Black Panther won for Best Costuming and Best Production Design (Doing the Happy Dance).

Roma won for Best Foreign Film.  I did not have a favourite in the category as usually I have not seen any of these films.  But happy they won.

BlacKkKlansman won for Best Adapted Screenplay.  Spike Lee’s first Oscar.  So well deserved.

Bohemian Rhapsody won for Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.

Original Song – SHALLOW – Lady Gaga (very happy)

  • BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR – Mahershala Ali in “Green Book”
  • BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS – Regina King in “If Beale Street Could Talk”
  • BEST ACTOR in LEADING ROLE – Rami Malek in “Bohemian Rhapsody”
  • BEST ACTRESS in LEADING ROLE – Olivia Colman in “The Favourite”

There were so many well deserving movies and people and I was pleased to see that a wide diversity of winners.

Really enjoyed all of the original songs performances.

Well done.

Most especially enjoyed Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s performance of SHALLOW.

Even the Devine Miss M ….. well done.

Not just one sweeping each category.

I was a bit disappointed that some of my favs did not win but the winners were well deserving.

I will admit that I only saw BLACK PANTHER and saw it many times.

Definitely going to watch some of the others.

Footnote:  they went less than 30 minutes over, not bad.  I will admit that as soon as they announced BEST PICTURE, I went to bed.

But that was the last award for the night and that was about 9:10 p.m. – so likely not much after that but the credits.

Well looks like almost time to go and pick up the poop, yup one of my morning chores.

Somedays wished that Alvin could use the indoor toilet.

OH well, hope this poop story brought a smile to your face.

Thankfully it is winter and the poop freezes almost as soon as it touches the ground.

Making it easy to scoop up.

Another good use for my “ice pick shovel thingy.”

Whoops gotta go.

Have a wonderful day.

Keep warm and save.

Smile as often as you can.

Be kind to yourself and to others.

Special Hello to: all those who love movies.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 24th day of February, 2019.

The sky is clear and the sun is rising.

It is beautiful looking out the window.

Outside it is cold.

So dilemma, walk or not walk.

I will be giving Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath in a little while.

So afterward I won’t take him for a walk not with a fresh hair cut and bath.

Will check the temperature before making a decision.

We had a great weekend thus far.

I did not realize just how many people I know have birthdays on February 23, 2019.

My sister, my sister from another mother, neighbour and friend down the street, a co-worker from SGI and I think that I am missing someone.

Popular day for birthdays.

Yesterday we cleaned the house, er actually I cleaned the house.

Mr. Alvin is a great Supervisor.

He follows me from room to room to ensure that I do it right.

After supper, I even whipped up a triple batch of RAISIN COOKIES.

They are so full of yummy raisins.

I love raisins.

We did start our Saturday with messaging my sister for her extra special day, followed by changing bed, hauling laundry to basement, preparing coffee and then going to the Vet

to have Mr. Alvin’s stitches removed from his eye area.

He was not too happy about the whole thing but then again if someone was coming at your eye with scissors, you might squirm and cry, too.

But they are out.

Dr. K said the incision has healed well.

They remarked too on how well he comes out of surgery, and wants to go home right away.

Oh, I started a tea order and will submit it shortly.

So few things to do before the OSCAR programming begins.

They have the RED CARPET and the PRE RED CARPET.

WOW, crazy hey.

The OSCARS or the ACADEMY AWARD program actually starts at 6:00 p.m. – Edmonton time but the “fashion stuff” starts at 2:30 or 3:00 p.m.

Oh, we love our MOVIE STARTS.

I sure hope that BLACK PANTHER wins for best picture.

I have seen that movie about five times, no six (including twice yesterday).

LOVE that movie.

Well I suppose it is time to get this show on the road considering I have been up for over one hour and most of the time has been spent on the computer.

Time flies when you are sitting in front of this magic box.

Doesn’t it?

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing that you are in good health, warm and safe and surrounded by love.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: ALL those folks who take the time to read these posts / my blog.  I am eternally grateful.  Still working on reaching one million readers/followers , have a bit to go.  LOL.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of May, 2018.

Today we celebrate “Queen Victoria Day” with a statutory holiday.

A day at home with our loved ones.

How perfect is that.

Another simply gorgeous day has already begun.

The sun has been up for a few hours now and the sky is sprinkled with with a few clouds.

There is a BREEZE, a cool one at this time.

I have opened all of the windows to keep the house cool.

Later this morning I will close them unless the breeze stays cool.

Sure has helped to keep the house comfortable for me and Alvin.

Well three days of my extra long weekend have already passed.

Certainly I did get a few things on my to do list completed but still a few left to do.

I figure while it is cool, time to get the floors washed with my steam mop.

It has take a couple of days for me to recover from staying up all night.

I guess that is something to do while you are a young one and not when you are over 60.

Although it was great at the time.

Sometimes one just feels lazy and just wants to putz about.

Yesterday a good portion of my day was giving Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath.

Followed by a shower for me after being covered in his hair.

I baked some chocolate chip cookies and we went for a walk.

Oh, there were dishes washed and put away.

Some small chores.

I patched a pair of PJs that I love, and wish to keep.

Oh, I watched “BLACK PANTHER” last night.

It was one of the best movies that I have seen as of late.

The house is quiet as is the neighbourhood.

It is about mid morning now.

Soon the children will be up and outside.

People will be out walking their pups.

Me, after a quick breakfast and sharing coffee with my neighbour it will be on to getting those floors all washed.

I also feel the need to tidy up the garage.

I have stacked a few empty boxes in there and they must be broken down to put into the garbage.

Tomorrow is garbage day.

This morning before it gets hot I will get that housework done.

Sometimes it is just a matter of being in the mood and then I can zip through that list in no time flat.

I kind of feel like housework now.

So better get to it.

Mr. Alvin had some drops from his Doctor for his ears as they are a bit inflamed but not infection.

OMG, you would think I was doing something dreadful to him.

He clearly is becoming more difficult when it comes to his ears.

Not good for the Momma.

I could barely hold him still.

ARGH, my boy.

Well folks time to spring into action.

Actually there appear to be some clouds blocking the sun and this is a good time to get things done.

Then one can relax in the afternoon when it is warm or something like that.

I had some interesting dreams that at the time seemed like a good idea for a book and now they have evaporated from memory.

Have an awesome day.

Enjoy the time.

Each day is special.

Every moment.

Each one only comes once.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. we have to chat.

Always, Carol & Alvin
