Living … One day at a time

Good Morning and we are nearing Christmas and the end of 2019.

Thursday today.

Yesterday we had our Christmas Brunch at work, it was good.

We also toured our newly renovated old office space.

There were mixed comments and feelings as per usual.

Not everyone is going to be happy.

Me, well although our workstations are just that a place to work.

Mine is located by a window which is great.

Most businesses are going to small non-personal work spaces.

Some folks are feeling like a hamster on a wheel with nowhere to go.

At this point it is difficult to say what it will be like without actually spending time on a daily basis in our regular routine.

Will there be changes, yes, definitely.

We are going paperless and I think that “they” believe we should work with no paper at all.

Unfortunately it does not quite work that way but it will iron itself out as it always does.

I look forward to the New Year and will adapt as I always have.

There is no point “crying” or “stressing” or “losing sleep” over a situation that is not within your control to change.

Although we have control, we really do not.

There is always someone or something pulling at those strings.

You can change things to be more suitable.

I am not trying to be negative as mostly I am positive.

We have to find a way to pay the bills doing something that we love.

Now that may be doing a job that pays the bills but affords you a home life that you love.

I think that is acceptable.

Now that job has to be something that you can live with, of course.

You cannot or should not spend hours, days, months or years at a toxic environment just because it pays the bills.

I am not saying that ….

There has to be a happy mix.

Anyway I am listening to a BLAKE SHELTON Christmas song as I am keying these words.

Alvin laying on his blue blanket and the world is good.

One of my friends called last night to invite me to go with her next Monday (I am off work) to see the movie CATS, her treat.

How wonderful!

Well here we are …. almost time for me, for us to head back downstairs.

I had a hard time going to sleep last night and then Alvin was awake at 1:13 and finally after trying to convince him to go back to bed …. we went downstairs.

I gave him his glucosamine chew and he went outside to pee, which he did.

Then we laid down on the sofa and slept until about 4:30 and then up for him to eat and go outside, again.

Then back to the sofa and then up at 5:15 a.m. …… argh.

Might be a long day but I am going to stay positive.

I, we are going to have an awesome day.

Quiet in the office (meaning few phone calls) and my appointments on time.

That would be nice.

Happy Thursday.

Thank you Blake Shelton …. love your voice.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 15th day of December, 2018.

I was quite lazy this morning so will now have to get to it.

The wind is howling outside.

Listening to Blake Shelter singing “Winter Wonderland.”

Alvin lying on his blue blanket beside me.

Sipping on almost cold coffee.

Visit to Dentist went well.

It has been a long time since I have had a tooth extracted.

So am taking it easy on the eating and drinking front.

Last night for supper after not eating since breakfast at 5:30 a.m., I feasted on scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese and followed by yogurt.

Perhaps that was a bit on the rich side as I felt a bit sick for a few hours.

After supper and once my stomach calmed down, I started making the sugar cookies for my friend.

I was happy when the last one was iced and placed in her container and into the fridge.

She was going to pick them up and then plans changed.

They are ready for pick up today.

All baked and iced.

They are her favourite.

Baking officially done.

I will be happy once 1:20 p.m. rolls around so that I can rinse my mouth.

I very carefully brushed my teeth last night and this morning but not a thorough job as I did not wish to disturb the extraction area.

Oddly enough today I am not really hungry and I am quite certain that the banana that I shared with Mr. Alvin earlier is not quite enough sustenance to get me through until supper.

I have some soup and that will be for supper.

Not feeling like chewing much.

I cannot believe that Christmas is a week away.

Where did the time go?

Today I must get laundry done, clean the bathrooms and regular cleaning.

Also at some point must get some grocery shopping done.

Which then begs the question?

What is the final menu for next Saturday’s Christmas party.

Normally I would not be so all over the place but it is co-workers.

Some of them are hard to please.

I know.

It really does not matter.

Do what I usually do and it will be wonderful.

I know.

Some people just have a way of playing with my confidence.

I guess if they say anything ….. it will just reflect poorly on them, right.

Tomorrow night, so excited as my daughter, son-in-law and I have tickets to take in the ZOO’s Festival of lights.

It has been years since we partook in a Christmas event.

I am so excited.

Years ago, when I used to visit them here in Edmonton – we would take in the Light Shows at different venues.

Well I guess that I had better get going.

Lots to do.

Alvin and I are both missing our walks.

So icy out here.

Now with the wind the sidewalks will be even more slick.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Saturday.

I am grateful to have a day at home with just regular stuff to do.

I did take a peek at the gifts that I have put together for this year.

Time to wrap.

I love to wrap gifts for Christmas.

Have an awesome day.

I am starting to feel recharged.

Special Hello to: my family and friends ….. Wishing you all Silver and Gold ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 22nd day of January, 2016.

It is a beautiful glorious morning here in Edmonton.

I turned on some music as I was getting ready and it has made me feel so wide awake and wonderful.

What a great way to start the day with some of your favourite songs playing in the background as you wash your face, comb your hair and slip into your clothes.

I have always loved a little bit of everything ….. a variety of music and artists.

Much the way I have lived my life with variety.

Always good to like a bit of everything.

I am 58 and I love the “boy band” – One Direction ….. most especially the song “The Story of My Life.”

I am 58 and I love “Disturbed’s” version of “The Sound of Silence.”

I am 58 and I love Andy Grammer’s, Honey I’m Good ….. makes me want to dance.

I am 58 and I love Meghan Trainor and John Legend.

I am 58 and I love Elvis and Gordon Lightfoot.

I am 58 and I love Tina Turner and Aerosmith.

I am 58 and I love Bing Crosby and Alicia Keys.

I am 58 and I love Elton John, Johnny Cash, Adele, Celine Dion, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga, Pink, Taylor Swift, Neil Diamond, Rufus Wainwright, Kelly Clarkson, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, David Bowie, Van Morrison, Vance Joy, Lorde, Sam Smith, Jordan Smith, Bon Jovi, Cher, Madonna and the list goes on.  I love new and old and everything in between.

Mix it up with your music, with your food, with your life.

Try something new and do not be afraid.

If you love Rock try Country.

If you love Pop try Rap.

If you love Rap try Pop.

If you love Alternative try Gospel.

New is good.

Well it is almost time to put the finishing touches on before heading out the door to work.

Just listening to Hello by Adele ….. who else…. she has the most amazing voice.

Have a great day filled with new things and great adventures.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: all my music lovers across the planet ….. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 19th day of January, 2016.

It is a Tuesday morning and I am listening to some tunes as I get ready this morning.

There is something about listening to music to get you in the rhythm for the day.

I bought some singles from iTunes on the weekend and transferred them to my iPOD and have been enjoying them.

Some of the songs are:

Honey, I’m good …… Andy Grammer (listening to it now, has a good beat – I sound like my Grandma).

Hello ….. Adele (of course, I love her)

The Sound of Silence ……. (Disturbed – remake of an old classic)

Heart of Gold …… Neil Young (always must have a Neil Young song on your iPOD)

Have You Ever Seen the Rain ……. Creedence Clearwater Revival (just because I can and I love it)

More than a Feeling ….. Boston (another classic)

Story of My Life ….. One Direction ( I like the words and really enjoy listening to these young guys – I get what the young ones see in them)

Blown Away and Before He Cheats ….. Carrie Underwood (because she is so talented and I like to mix up the genres)

Halo …… Beyonce (why not, she has a good voice)

Like I Am Going to Lose You ….. Meghan Trainor featuring John Legend (now that man can sing, love him)

Now I have over 100 songs on my iPOD ranging from Rihanna to Katy Perry.  Neil Diamond to Sam Smith.  Taylor Swift to Maroon 5.

Miss Christina A.  and Blake Shelton (have to have them)…. love their duet.

Basically any song that I love …… nice to have a variety.

Listening to “More than a Feeling” right now ……

Music is good for us and we should listen to more.

I guess that is what everyone is doing with all of the different types of buds in their ears these days.

Now to finish off before I leave …. Miss Carrie Underwood.

She has such a great voice.

I hope that you enjoy some music today …..

Will get you excited about your day …..

Put something on with good words and a beat and get on with your day.

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings …. Hello ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 6th day of November, 2015.

Dark outside at this time just as I am about to leave for work.

It will be this way until after Christmas when it will begin to lighten just a few minutes each day.

YAY…

Although I will admit that I like it dark early in the evening as it is easier to go to sleep.

But then I am going to bed at 9:00 p.m.

ARGH.

Not so many hours spent at home during the week – at least not many WAKING hours.

That is the way with most of us – working folk.

Oh well …. such as life.

Well this is short as I am running a bit late …..

I think it may be a tad icy outside so I want to leave in plenty of time ……

I hope that you have an awesome Friday.

“Always give yourself enough time.”

This can be said for everything.

P.S. I am disappointed that Blake Shelton is “not single” ….. no chance for me now.

I do like Gwen, though.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: Blake and Gwen ….. (please no nick names)

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday, the 23rd day of September, 2014.

First off, I just want to say that Edmonton had +29 celsius yesterday and I had the air conditioning on for the puppies.

CRAZY …… a/c on and the leaves are turning colours …… seems odd…..

Well last night was the first night of “THE VOICE.”

Just when you think last year had great singers …..

You get blown away all over again.

There is a huge talent pool out there, and so great for them to have a forum such as The Voice.

It is my top show ….

I was wondering how the new “coaches” would do but they fit in as if they have always been on the show.

I always have loved the chemistry between Adam and Blake and nothing has changed.

However, I have added Gwen and Pharrell to on screen chemistry …… she is such a lady and Mr. Williams quite the gentleman.

They rocked the first show.

I was very impressed with them both.

This season could very well be the best one yet.

Definitely something to look forward to and thank goodness for the ability to record ….. just in case …

So on this Tuesday, I hope you are well and ready for another day.

Smile and always put your best foot forward so to speak ….. be happy …. it is the way to go.

When you have a time when things may not be going quite right …. think of something that makes you bend over laughing and makes you feel so good.

I often think of the song “HAPPY” by the new Voice Coach …… love it.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my sister …….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of November, 2013.

YAY, the skies are clearing and the snow has stopped.

We were all shovelling maniacs yesterday.

Good exercise, though.

I had a very productive day yesterday which is always good for a Saturday.

Today I work at the store.

I am grateful to have time at home with my Alvin.

He sure enjoys the snow.

I think he is a snow bunny.

Oh, there are ice crystals coming off the roof and the sun just started to shine and it looks like diamonds falling past my window.

So gorgeous ….. delicately falling.

I love these moments.

Enjoying coffee, listening to Blake Shelton’s Christmas Album from last year …. life doesn’t get better than this.

I am so grateful for my life.

Thank you.

I guess the thought for this Sunday is all about gratitude.

No matter what is going on in your life….. always find the time to be grateful for what you have …..

I am ….

Happy Holidays to you all.

Special Hello: to my nephew “J” … I forgot his birthday was on the 15th….  Happy Birthday Buddy.

All-ways Carol and  Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Afternoon and it is mid afternoon on Saturday the 16th day of November, 2013.

Wow, what happened today.

Alvin slept over at his sister’s house so I slept in of course.

I woke up about 6:45 and decided to go back to sleep and then the phone rang and it was 9:00 a.m.

My daughter on the other end of the phone …. wondering if she could bring Alvin home.

WELL OF COURSE…..

So I jumped out of bed, washed my face, brushed my teeth and jumped into some clothes.

As I opened the living room blinds I saw one of my neighbours out shovelling ….

We always shovel each other’s walks.

With Alvin and my daughter on their way – I wanted to shovel the walk before they arrived.

I could not believe the amount of snow that we had received in a short amount of time.

It was nice to have help shovelling ….. we made short work of the snow.

Front and back and in between on the deck.

I watch her cat and she helps shovel….

So this morning ended up being out of my regular routine.

I did not get to my blog until now.

Already been out shovelling twice and looks like soon a third time.

Always good to be able to go with the flow.

Routine changed and I went with it.

You never know what is going to happen.

Good to be flexible.

So listening to Christmas tunes…. Blake Shelton….. mmm dreamy.

Back to reality.

My daughter and I got some jewellery business out of the way.

We are having a sale soon ….. so much fun.

On-line …..

Well time to get going …. I am going to do some Christmas baking after supper.

Also have to work on my Christmas cards …. do the letter.

YIKES….. soon it will be December.

It is the very best time of year …. Wished that it would slow down so that I could ….

Oops just have to remember to breathe.

So have a great rest of your Saturday.

I am babbling ….

Smiling ….. life is great.

Love you and thank you for reading …..

You are so great….

Special Hello to:  Blake Shelton …. love your voice……

Always, Carol and Alvin
