COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Friday June 16, 2017 and it is the 55 day until my 60th Birthday.

I want these 60 days leading up to my 60th Birthday to be extra special, and that is the reason for sharing my thoughts about life.

To be honest, most of my life I have learned things the hard way.

Not much has been handed to me or has come particularly easily but that is okay.

I know that each lesson, each hard knock, each step backward, each stumble has made me grow and be the person that I am today.

Now please do not misunderstand ….. my life has been pretty amazing for the most part.

I am not perfect.

That I know for sure.

I like each, and every person on this planet has moments of sheer greatness and moments of not so greatness.

That is life.

I always start each and every morning writing in a “Gratitude Journal” which has ended up being a combination GJ and Diary.

But it is so good for the soul and for your very being to write things down.

It seems to release thoughts, and make them real.

So my day starts like this:

Alvin kicks at the blankets ….. jumps off the bed …….  stands by the closed bedroom door and sometime lets out a small bark to let me know that he is ready to get up.

The only kicker is: it is usually anywhere between 3:30 – 4:30 a.m.

Now, this would not be so bad if I worked from home or was retired but I am neither.

So I coax him to remain in bed until closer to 4:00 or a bit later …..make the bed and then we then head downstairs ….. his water dish in tow.

Turning on lights as we go and when I reach the pantry …. I grab his glucosamine (for his joint health), and then his food.

He eats and has a drink of water before heading outside.

Depending on the time I set the timer on the microwave for some extra zzz’s on the sofa.

Usually we have time for some.

This is my favourite part of the day as Alvin lays his head on the pillow right beside me and we snuggle.

I love it.

What a wonderful way to begin the day.

After that ….. write in the journal ….. eat breakfast …… shower and get ready and then write my blog before heading back downstairs to grab my lunch, shoes, jacket and stuff and say my good-byes to me Alvin

before heading out the door.

It is a busy time.

But we are on a schedule …. so that helps.

So that is our morning routine ….. then it is on the bus to work for about one hour ……

WOW, cannot believe I am turning 60.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 15th day of May, 2017.

The sky is overcast with rain clouds and you guessed it, it is raining.

Thank goodness that I have an umbrella.

I hope that all of the Moms out there had a great Mother’s Day.

My daughter and grand-pups came by for a visit.

We had a great time and even fit in a walk.

I am very grateful to have such a wonderful daughter.

Well I may have to change my mind about turning the heat back on.

It is 60 degrees F in my house this morning.

Not sure what that is, celsius but it feels cold.

Thankfully Alvin has his fur coat to keep him warm.

He also has his blankets on his chair, on the sofa and on the bed for extra warmth.

I wanted to see what the difference would be on my heat/water/electricity bill without having the heat on and before we start to use the A/C.

I will see what tonight brings ……

Our office has been cold …. hopefully the bus is warm.

Well, almost time to hit the wet trail to the bus.

Wishing you all a Happy Monday.

Keep warm and dry.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: all my friends all over the world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 18th day of October, 2016.

Wow, today is Tuesday.

Isn’t that great?

I love Tuesdays.

Day after Monday.

How often do you wish today was tomorrow?

That it was Friday already?

We always are wanting the next day or the next thing.

Too busy rushing the time to live in the moment.

I sometimes do.

We all do.

But we must take a deep breath and live in this minute, this moment.

Right now my life is perfect.

I feel great.

Alvin is cuddling on the end of the bed on one of his many special blankets.

Once I am done my blog and go downstairs he will follow.

Then I will don my outerwear and be off to work.

Animals live in the moment.

No thoughts of the future.

I am pretty sure that Alvin does not lay on his chair while I am gone “thinking maybe next year I can retire” or “what do I want for Christmas.”

That is why they are so happy to see you when you get home from work.

Now granted they have to pee and are hungry but they are still happy to see you.

All creatures just want love and respect.

Whether two-legged or four.

So if we live in the moment – be that better person – that great human being.

If you live that minute to the best of your ability then you are in the moment.

We should not compare ourselves to others.

Each of us is special.

Each of us has the ability to be the best that we can be.

We are unique.

So in this moment we are all amazing … keep up the great work.

Well here we are once again …. time to sign off and finish getting ready for work.

Today two of my friends are off to England for two weeks.

How exciting.

I wish them safe travels and a great visit with family.

Special Hello to: my friends “P” and “A” who are travelling.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of May, 2015.

It is bright and sunny outside.

It also feels warmer outside than inside my house this morning.

Guess turning the thermostat off was not a great idea.

This morning it was 61 degrees ….. I don’t have a celsius thermostat.

But blankets and sweaters helped.

No wonder all I wanted to do this morning was stay cuddled under the blankets.

It was Mr. Alvin who convinced his Momma to get up and get to it.

First thing I did was open all the blinds and the house warmed by a whole degree.

Amazing how warm that sun’s rays are ……

I had not downloaded my flowers that I bought for the deck and front porch until just now.

Flowers always make me feel great so thought that I would share them with you.

Once it warms up a bit it will be planting time.

They spent the night in the garage as it was forecasted to freeze last night and I did notice a bit of frost on one of the neighbour’s car windows.

After this blog I need to bring the pots back out onto the deck so they can enjoy the sunshine.

I hope that this flowers bring you a bit of joy on this Sunday morning as they do for me.

They always make me feel giddy and wonderful.

Smiles everyone.

Happy Sunday ……

Special Hello to: every living creature on our planet …. Happy Sunday

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Wow, here we are, another Thursday, today is September 27th, 2012.

The air is crisp this morning and the thermostat reads 68 in the house this morning.

Although that number is higher than it has been some mornings in the house, I am determined to wait a bit longer before turning on the heat.

During the day it warms up so much that it really doesn’t need to be on.  I am sure that Alvin is warm between his fur coat and his blankets.

How long do you wait before turning on the heat?  Perhaps you live somewhere that a furnace is not required?

Wherever you are ….. we always look for one of two things:  heat or cool air.

We in this country usually have both, a furnace to keep us warm in the winter and air conditioning to keep us cool in the summer.

How funny is that?

I would say that most people in this country do not have air conditioning although we do need it during the summer months.

Actually it is only a few weeks, sometimes even only days that we REALLY need a/c but I am blessed to have it in this house.

I remember pre air-conditioning days.

My days in the apartment …. well actually years….. 25 years in that same one back in Regina….

No a/c …. some of those summer days and nights were unbearable but I am here so I made it as do so many others.

Anyway, it is fall ….. are you gearing up for winter yet?

Have you started your fall clean-up?

I was just going over the list in my head and realized that I have more to do than first blush.

So guess I had better write up that list so that I do not miss anything.

So on this day before my day off from the office (I do work tomorrow night at the store) ….. I would say have a great weekend.

Lots on my TO DO LIST for this weekend as I have two days off in a row.

Friday, HOUSE AND YARD and, Saturday will be spent getting reorganized with our jewelry and hopefully making a few pieces (and fixing some for a gal at work).

Back to work at the store on Sunday …. so a full weekend.

Have a great day today, tomorrow and on the weekend.

Take Care.

Special Hello to:  everyone who is going to tackle their TO DO LIST this weekend.  Enjoy.

Always, Carol and Alvin
