Last Half 2022 – November

Good Morning ALL! I hope that you are feeling and doing GREAT this Wednesday morning. Today I work from the office so I am trying to keep my energy levels high and positive. To be honest I love working from home and being with Alvin and going to the office well it is okay but there is no comparison. The air is warm outside this morning. Hard to believe it is going into the last week of November. Although I did hear on the weather channel last night something about “our temperatures being close to normal,” I guess they should know as they keep track of these things and I do not. Alvin and I went for a lovely walk during my lunch break. So nice outside. I love my ice tracks.

I made my list, well sort of all how much baking I need to do to cover Christmas 2022. There are three parties of various sizes, friends and neighbours and family on the list and of course some for Christmas. Trying to keep it down to a dull roar this year. We really do not need that much “sugar.”

I learned that a fellow coworker from my SGI days passed away and her funeral was yesterday. She was the age of my sister. How incredibly sad! Always a reminder when someone passes away – that we need to live and love our lives each and every day. You never know. Be kind and have fun.

Still pretty dark outside at 6:09 a.m. – we are running ahead of time this morning. We will have time to do some cuddling before my ride arrives.

Well I suppose we will head back downstairs. I do want to ensure that Mr. Alvin goes outside again before I leave and that he drinks some water.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: just a tad over one month until Christmas Eve!

Living … One day at a time

Bright blue sun filled sky this morning.

Welcome to the weekend.

Last night we had rain.

This morning we have “black ice.”

I have a decision to make regarding Alvin’s 10:00 a.m. appointment with Dr. K.

It is a regular one for nails and anal glands.

I am thinking that I should ask to see if I can push it to a later time today before they close at 2:00 p.m.

Our sidewalks are a skating rink and even with the ice picks on your boots, it can/could be dangerous walking to the clinic.

Some photos from last night.

Humphrey joined us for a couple of hours.

He loves Alvin’s bed curled up looking at the Christmas tree, so cute.

Then the rain.

Yes, it was.

Raining last night.

I was so wishing that I had left my downspout connected.

Now you see about the black ice this morning after it froze.

The temperature is not cold but enough to make it dangerous for walkers and for driving of course.

I threw in some photos of my Snowman and Snowwoman, just because they are so cute.

Yesterday at work, we said goodbye and congratulations to a friend on her retirement after 27 years of work at our office.

It was very sad and exciting all at once.

I am happy for her as she looks forward to some major changes.

Well I guess this will be short as it is almost time for the clinic to open and I want to see if we are able to change Alvin’s appointment time.

I wish you all an awesome Saturday.

Be safe.

With kindness and respect, always.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 26th day of February, 2019.

Another COLD blast of winter again this morning.

Yesterday though the temperatures did warm enough and we managed to get a walk in after work.

Alvin and I walked over to see Teddy and his Aunt J.

It was good to go inside and visit and warm up.

I am always happy to see them.

Teddy lights our world.

He runs and is so happy to see us.

Sometimes he jumps into my arms.

This morning was the fastest that I have ever seen Mr. Alvin “pee.”

I know that is perhaps a bit personal or too much information but gives you an idea of how cold it is this morning.

Forecast was for minus 44 with windchill this morning.

YIKES.

He wants to go out but every time I open the door he breathes in the cold air, I see his breath, and comes back.

So might have to put on his winter coat and go out with him.

I wished that he would wear boots.

Perhaps I should try and put some socks on his paws, just to see what he will do.

I am making an assumption that he wouldn’t like little boots/socks but perhaps he wouldn’t mind.

He will need to “poop.”

Okay, sorry, too much information.

But even though it is serious business there is an element of humour there.

Sorry Mr. Alvin …..

We will ALL be so happy to have spring.

I can only imagine what the wildlife are going through at this time.

Between frigid temperatures and so much snow.

I wished that I look after them all.

The bird, the bunnies and the deer.

Now once again they are stating that during the day it will warm up again with tomorrow being minus 3 or 4.

I would say that might feel like “shorts” weather if I were so inclined.

It has been such a long COLD winter and I am afraid that I need to get some exercise in but it is hard to get motivated.

Well I should go and see if I can get him outside to do his business.

Poor guy.

Thankfully he wouldn’t let me trim his paws too much.

Please ensure that all PUPS are indoors on these cold days.

If you have a neighbour or know someone who leaves a doggie outside, please report this to the authorities.

This is not acceptable behaviour.

Thank you.

Have an awesome Tuesday.

Please keep warm and safe.

Special Hello to: my friend “W” …. thanks for reading.  Drop a line.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 8th day of January, 2019.

Brrr, it be COLD out there.

Poor Mr. Alvin wasted no time going outside to do his thing and back into the house.

I really did not even need to call him this morning.

This is the COLDEST morning this winter so far.

Make sure that you dress warm and have mitts, scarf and warm socks in addition to your coat and boots.

Always be prepared.

I was thinking of how people communicate.

In my “travels” I came across a young woman who is a non-verbal due to medical reasons.

That does not stop her from TALKING or getting her thoughts across to others.

Cell phones are a great tool for someone who has the ability to use their hands and fingers; but just not able to speak.

I still remain one of the three folks on this earth who do not have a cell phone.

Actually I think it is down to two; as I forgot that Kathie-Lee Gifford now has one.

We all communicate in one way shape or form.

As long as we are able ….. how wonderful.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

I am on my way out to pick up poop from my No. 1 little pooper.

We all poop.

Just glad that I do not have to pick up mine.

Okay, perhaps this is not the topic for this place but I actually love that word.

Poop.

Just giggle and laugh.

Poop.

Just poop.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” who makes me laugh and works so hard, thank you for being my friend. (PS will get that info to you tonight).

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 6th day of December, 2018.

Well I guess we had better start the countdown.

Right!

18 Sleeps until Christmas Eve Day

That means 19 sleeps until Christmas morning.

YAY …..

I have been a pretty good girl this year so I think that Santa will swing by our place.

Now I cannot be so sure of Mr. Alvin.

“Alvin, have you been a good boy this year?”

Nothing, no sound.

I will take that as a resounding “Yes.”

That means the jolly old elf will be stopping by.

I will have some of my world famous, okay Western Canada famous SUGAR COOKIES ready for him to snack on, along with a glass of “milk.”

Can hardly wait.

I could set up a camera and take some photos of his arrival?

Surprise, Santa.

Well today is payday, a dental checkup and mail Christmas cards day and work, of course.

A short work day as I have a visit to the dentist in between it all.

Well the carpool is coming early again today and then tomorrow.

So better sign off and get downstairs.

Cannot go outside without a coat and boots and stuff.

I saw a recreational vehicle with a snow blade on it go by.

It actually looked like a supped up golf cart with a blade to push snow on the front.

He was steaming down the road.

Wondering where he was going?

Our roads are a mess.

It will likely be awhile before the City plows them.

Keep warm and stay safe.

Be kind to others and to yourself.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. hope you are warm, my darling sis.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 20th day of April, 2018.

Another beautiful day in the forecast.

Alvin and I are so enjoying our walks.

Soon the sidewalks will be dry and then our walks will be perfection.

Here is something that I noticed last week and kept forgetting to post.

Last week while riding on the bus I noticed a sign that had a most unforgettable message:

VAMPIRE FACE-LIFT

COMING SOON

Wow, I wonder what that is all about.

It was on a sign at the street side of a strip mall parking lot.

Kind of creepy, scary and curious, all at the same time.

Sometimes you never know what you will see on a sign.

Perhaps I should GOOGLE that phrase and see what I get.

OR maybe not.

Well today is Friday.

I am hoping that it will be a quiet, productive day unlike yesterday.

I love the morning sky.

Tonight after work it is repair the downspout.

Oh, I have something else to share.

Yesterday my direct line rang at work.

I looked at the number and it so of looked familiar and then not.

But not many people have that number so I quickly picked it up.

It was my friend who is vacationing in Florida with her daughter and parents.

They were at NASA.

When she had mentioned that she was going to NASA, well I had to ask if there was any way that she could pick me up a tee shirt (which I would gladly pay for ).

She said “yes, of course.”

She just is that kind of friend.

So she was calling from NASA.

I could not believe it.

So excited to have her calling from NASA and for the tee shirt.

I was so excited that I immediately sent her a note on Facebook, the only thing being that I spelled NASSUA ( the other one ).

So funny ….. I could not believe it.

Well here we are almost time for me to finish getting ready.

So happy that I can now wear shoes and not boots to work.

Light jacket instead of big heavy coat and scarf.

I wear mini gloves in the morning to protect my hands not because it is cold.

The air is cool in the morning and my hands still are splitting from the coolness.

Will be happy when it is warm all day long.

Have an awesome day.

I hope that someone calls you long distance from a cool place.

I am still smiling.

Special Hello to: my friends who are having a blast in Florida.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 22nd day of January, 2018.

Weather wise another good weekend except for the ice on the sidewalks.

This week to be pleasant as well.

Here is hoping that the ice goes away before spring.

We had a great weekend, me and Alvin.

Yesterday we hosted coffee with the girls.

One of our friends was sick was coffee with the “girl.”

We had a great visit.

Shocker this morning.

We went to bed just after 9:00 p.m. last night …. by the time actually crawled into bed closer to 9:30 p.m.

I set the alarm clock for 5:10 a.m.

Alvin did not get up until 4:50 a.m.

Just 20 minutes before the alarm was to go off.

This is amazing for him as he usually gets up about 4:00 a.m.

Is this a new chapter in our never ending saga of up during the wee wee hours of the morning.

It would be so nice if he would sleep longer.

I do understand that he sleeps all day (or at least that is what I think as I have never set up a camera to check).

Anyway on this Monday morning, I am one happy Momma.

He seems to be feeling good as that is the first thing that I thought about.

This is a great way to begin the week.

We are doing well and hard to believe that once again it is time to go to work.

Where does that time go?

Wouldn’t it be nice for the five day work week to seem like two days and the two day weekends seem like five days?

Now that would be GREAT.

Well almost time to go downstairs and finish getting ready for work.

I guess I will leave my ice pick things on my boots.

It is still icy out there as far as I know.

I know our front walk and due in part from keeping all of the snow shovelled.

Sometimes a bit of snow is a good thing.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Special Hello to:  my friends and family all over the world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 19th day of December, 2017.

Our weather is beginning to change and start to look more like December.

The temperatures coming up are in the double digit minus celsius range.

Oh, fun.

We will have to once again wear the warmer coats, hats, bigger scarves, bigger mitts and the works.

Oh well, thankfully we have those items to wear.

I sure hope that all Canadians have warms items to wear at this time of year.

If you know someone who is in need or if you have items that you do not require, perhaps you would like to contact one of the agencies like Salvation Army and make a donation.

It is the season for giving.

I hope that you all are doing well.

My hand is sore this morning and that could be due in part to the drop in temperature.

Well folks time to fly ….. decided that I needed a few more minutes of sleep this morning.

I know better …… do you guys lay back down and then at some point end up running a bit late?

I do and most especially at this time of year.

Well time to fly.

Have an awesome Tuesday.

Remember to always take the time for you.

To be still, quiet and just breathe.

We all need to take time to be quiet.

No multi-tasking.

No answering your phone, no texting.

No conversations.

Just be still.

It is just as important to be still.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to:  my family and friends all over the world.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 7th day of November, 2017.

Well I guess whether we like it or not WINTER is here early or earlier than some years and definitely earlier than last year.

By summer we will have forgotten about the exact date that winter arrived but we will remember if there was a lot of snow and if it were cold.

Those things we never forgot but yet we do.

Anyone living in a climate that is cold for more than half of the year ….. has to either love winter or forgets the magnitude of the cold.

Likely that is part of the reason why the population of Canada has remained many times smaller than the United States.

Their Northern States that border with Canada also share the winter but not always to the same degree of cold.

I do not mind the winter ….. after all Christmas comes in the winter…..

As long as you have a warm winter coat, boots, scarf and mitts you will do okay.

Whenever you are outside in the winter ….. frostbite is always something to watch out for …… especially with the children.

I even watch Mr. Alvin as he likes to bury his chew treats in the back yard and sometimes loses track of time.

That could be dangerous if you are not keeping track of the time yourself.

Dogs do lost track of time …… something to keep in mind.

Children lost track of time …… something to keep in mind.

We are responsible for these little ones so always keep them in your mind in the winter.

Pets do not belong outside for long periods of time…… ….

Well looks like it is almost time for me to don my coat, boots, scarf and mitts and head out to the bus.

Have an awesome Tuesday.

Stay warm and dry.

Have a fun day.

Special Hello to:  Remember to be mindful.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 3rd day of January, 2017.

We are back in a deep freeze here in Edmonton.

Dropped to minus 25 degrees celsius overnight.

Oh joy …… at least no moisture, er snow.

Back to work today.

I had the most wonderful Christmas break with my family and friends.

Alvin and I enjoyed extra long walks on the nice days.

Thank goodness cause this is way too cold for me Alvin to be outside longer than to do his “needs be.”

January is off to a great start.

Had visits with one of my girl friends yesterday and my daughter the previous day.

2017 is a year of patience, more kindness, patience and laughter.

I mentioned patience twice because quite often it is the lack of or not enough of patience that drags us to a bad place.

If we had the patience then the rest might fall easier into place.

For me patience is a big thing …. keeps me in a better place.

So in a few minutes I will be donning the longest winter coat, big scarf, mitts and tall boots.

You need to be covered in good layers on a day like today.

I sure hope that the first few days of this New Year find you well and ready to have the best year of your life.

We have to at least start in that great place and hopefully this will be the one that goes as smoothly as life can.

To good health, great joy and an abundant 2017.

Special Hello to:  my Family …… this is our year.

Always, Carol and Alvin
