Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 16th day of June, 2018.

Fast approaching the official FIRST day of summer and the longest day of the year.

Already it remains light at 10:30 p.m.

Bright and sunny this morning.

I had some unexpected company from Saskatchewan last night.

My nephew stopped by over an overnight visit on his way to work up north on a oil rig.

I love this guy so much.

He is 20 years my junior and feels like he has always been in my life.

First born nephew.

He is smart and funny, handsome and good-natured.

So much fun to be around.

He even took his “old Aunt” for groceries with no complaints.

We went for supper together.

Watched a movie at my house and visited.

Alvin loves him, too.

We gave up our bed for the night as he is a tall guy and the spare room bed is only a double.

Anyway he left earlier this morning.

The house feels empty.

We are on our way to get food for Mr. Alvin and possibly a bag of chew treats.

Then home to do laundry and prepare food for my kids who are coming for a visit and for supper.

Fruit pizza is for dessert so I have to get on it after returning from the Vet.

Supper is roasted root veggies: potatoes, carrots and parsnips lightly coated with olive oil, sea salt and pepper.

Roasted chicken breasts.

If desired can place some RENEE’s Caesar dressing and sliced avocado.

Time to fly here.

Gotta get things done.

Certainly been a WONDERFUL weekend and is going to get better with my kids coming over.

PS:  my son-in-law came over while waiting for winter tires to get changed out on their car and spent the afternoon with Mr. Alvin.  They even did a walk together.

Have an awesome weekend.

Lucky here.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. so nice to see “T”

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 12th day of June, 2016.

It has been overcast and raining off and on this morning.

There have been slight moments of brightness appearing out of small cracks in the deep blue clouds, sun I presume.

It was cool in the house when we first got up this morning.

But no need to turn on the furnace at this time of year.

I just returned a bit ago from cleaning up part of the neighbourhood.

A particular walkway to the 62nd Avenue.

One side is our residential neighbourhood and the other is a very main street and on the other side a bunch of fast few restaurants and a strip mall.

So quite often meaning all of the time there are a vast array of cups and fast food wrappers from Starbucks, McDonalds, Dairy Queen and Boston Pizza.

I have asked for a garbage barrel to be placed there but to no avail.

I guess as long as someone like me will pick up the garbage why would you pay for a barrel, bags and someone to empty them.

Oh well.

I do not mind ….. I am helping out my friends and neighbours.

The only one that truly minds is Mr. Alvin as I have to leave him at home and he does not like that.

He likes me to be at home on the weekends.

I cannot blame him.

Well I guess time to go and enjoy my coffee while it is warm.

The first cup earlier I only drank a bit of it as I wanted to get out before the rain arrived.

Funny thing it rained a bit when I left the house and started to come down a bit harder on my way home.

Just gave me the perfect time to get it done.

YAY.

My neighbours that have been here since I moved to Edmonton are moving out tomorrow into a brand new house that they had built.

Not too far away so I think we will see each other but likely not quite as often, I suspect.

I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know the new people.

I shall miss my neighbours.

“S” was here alone when I moved in and two years later got married.

Nothing last forever and change is a learning process or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Mr. Elton is coming over at 3:00 p.m. to spend a few hours with his Grandma and Alvin.

We look forward to spending time with him.

Did I mention that my irises are blooming?

The most perfect purple.

Well time to sign off.

I wish you an awesome Sunday.

Thank you for reading.

Special Hello to: “M” longtime friend ……

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 10th day of November, 2013.

The snow is coming down softly and Alvin is laying outside our bedroom door waiting for my nephew to wake up.

My nephew stopped by from Saskatchewan on his way to work on the oil rigs in Northern Alberta.

He took me out for a nice supper shortly after he arrived last night.

I love my nephew, he is such a interesting and funny young man.

We always have a laugh or ten, and share some stories.

Hard to believe he will be “37” next year and I will be “57.”

It seems like only yesterday that he was born.

We have shared a lifetime together.

I am so blessed to have so many great family members in my life.

I also learned of a cousin who recently passed away – another great man.

He was about my “Dad’s” age and they were first cousins.

Always in our thoughts and prayers.

Time has a way of grabbing you by the hands and pulling you along for the ride whether you want to go or not.

You just have to learn to be go for it.

There is nothing currently on this planet that will stop time other than passing away.

Maybe in the future we will be able to stop time or at least play with it more effectively but for now we just have to go along for the ride.

Make the most of each moment and live with no regrets.

So on this Sunday as I begin to get ready to go and work at the store …. I am so reminded that I have been very blessed throughout my lifetime.

I have lead a very interesting life and am looking forward to the rest of the ride.

There have been a few twists and turns along the way but without them I would not have had this ride, my ride, my life.

I am so grateful for it all.

I hope that you enjoy your ride and hang on and go.

You never know where the ride will take you.

Special Hello to: Happy Birthday “J” – hard to believe it is “50” …..

Always, Carol and Alvin
