The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! I hope this finds you doing very well. We are doing well. Another successful night with our visitor. He is a much better sleeper than Mr. Alvin. The boys are patiently waiting for me to finish as I just had a shower and had them contained in the bedroom and now they are waiting near or in the office while I write this post. Georgie is at this very moment sitting on my lap. He is definitely a lap dog. So cute. I downloaded some photos so I will share them with you all. Looks like another beautiful day ahead. We had two walks yesterday in between laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, garage cleaning (yes I did it, almost done) and cleaning out of some kitchen drawers. A good day all in all. Today, in just less than two hours two of our friends and neighbours will be coming for a coffee visit. Oh, how I love these times. So nice to chat with them and catch up. I am so grateful to have friends of all ages. Poor Georgie was to rest on my arm but not while I am typing.

I apologize as there are some photos that I was not intending on posting but alas they are there and I cannot find a way of removing them. You used to be able to click on and delete the photo but not any longer.

Time to go and prepare for company.

Happy Sunday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

Always, Carol, Alvin and Georgie.

P.S. 58 days until my 65th birthday.

Living … One day at a time.

Merry Christmas ….

The sun is already up ….

We were up late last night and slept in this morning.

I managed to keep Mr. Alvin in bed until about 7:00 a.m.

The pups were up shortly after that ….

My daughter went back to bed and my son-in-law is still sleeping after an extra long day (he had to work).

We had a great Christmas ….

Had some late night snacks just after they arrived from an earlier Christmas feast with my son-in-law’s family.

Opening the gifts after that …

Mr. Alvin was the unintentional star of the night.

He absolutely loves opening gifts.

First he opened his gifts, Aspen and Milo’s gifts and then mine.

He does so great …..

There were toys and more toys and treats for the pups and a bandana each.

The boy got his duster with extender that he wanted and more.

The girl got some jewelry as what girls do not love some bling and more.

The Mama got spoiled.

I needed kitchen towels and a stir fry pan and those were two items that I received.

Along with scratch tickets, crystal ornament, HONEY, more kitchen towels, single serving Tupperware food chopper, Magnolia & Vine bracelet and extra charm and more.

I was so spoiled this Christmas.

Thank you to my family and friends.

Here are some photos and then I better go clean up some more and make some COFFEE.

Merry Christmas.

Oh and make some phone calls.

Bit of action shot so blurry

Some of my gifts.

Alvin enjoyed opening his gifts and mine.

Aspen and Milo just enjoyed their gifts.

We had a great Christmas Eve and now it is Christmas Day.

I went and spent over one hour with Humphrey and Cynder.

Giving them fresh food and water.

Cleaning the litter box.

Everyone wants a clean one of those ….

Time to go downstairs and make me some coffee.

Then call some family before I start to make brunch which I am thinking will be kind of like “lunch.”

There are no rules on this day.

We just go with it.

Whatever happens, happens.

I hope that you are having an awesome Christmas.

Merry Merry Christmas To You and Your Family.

Always, Carol & Alvin

I guess I should upload our newest photo.

Living … One Day at a time.

Hello,

Wednesday morning and the sky is blue with bright sunshine.

The air is filled with the hum of cars on the nearby highway as people go to work.

Last night, Teddy’s Mom asked if he could stay with us for a few days as her two-legged son was in the hospital.

He lives several hours away and I totally understand about wanting to be with your child.

We said “yes” without hesitation.

Teddy arrived last night.

We ended up not going for a walk due to humidity and threat of storm.

So with Teddy’s arrival …. Alvin got some exercise and time outside with his friend.

I am happy that I got up when the alarm went off as with an extra body it does take longer.

The alarm these days is on my phone and it is the sound of birds chirping ….

Some mornings when we “use” the alarm I actually have to stop and think about where the sounds are coming from.

But we are almost ready.

One more trip outside after this post.

I have some photos from a few minutes ago to share.

What a great way to begin the day with these two cutie pies.

They bring me great joy there is no doubt about that ….

Teddy likes to turn down the blanket …. or rather play under it …

Acts of kindness filled with respect are always in style.

Time to fly.

We are grateful to be of help to our friends.

We are grateful for this amazing sunshine.

We are grateful for all things green.

We are grateful for our health, very important.

Most of all we are grateful for each other.

Me and Alvin…..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Overcast skies.

Due in part to rain in the forecast and likely some due to the smoke from the fires up north.

Alvin is resting on his double thick blanket on the floor beside me as I write these words.

When I was a little girl – I dreamed of phones that you could both see and speak to the person on the other end.

Remember I was born in 1957.

These thoughts were not brought on by a television program as we did not watch much television other than Walt Disney on Saturday or Sunday nights.

Too much to do on the farm.

As I got older and saw the way that technology was going – I knew that it would happen in my lifetime.

So today …. I am happy that I can sit in front on my computer and video chat with my sister.

See her in real time.

Hear her voice ….. hear her laughter.

Such an awesome way to connect.

Who would have thought that a person, me, could key the words onto a keyboard and they would appear upon a screen and click on PUBLISH and they would go out to the world.

Certainly not me.

What a life.

I am so glad to be living this life …. now ….. One day at a time.

Has not always been this way.

Seems to be an age thing.

Make the most of each day ….

Last night after work Alvin and I went out for our walk.

We were disappointed not to see the geese and those darling baby goslings.

They were likely swimming out of our sight.

We were just walking into the park and going round the bend when I heard “Alvin, Alvin.”

Turned around to see two small boys coming towards us.

One on a bike and the other running and ended up falling.

They were coming down a hill.

Not a big one but a hill all the same.

Neighbour boys were out with the sitter.

They got ahead of her and their smaller brother.

So cute.

They were so excited to see Alvin.

Bike was dropped close by.

Came over and gave him some love.

Alvin is definitely loved by all.

So sweet.

We chatted for awhile …. waiting for their sitter to come.

She must have been quite a distance behind them.

The older boy ran up the hill to the sidewalk to check but did not see them.

I gave them instructions to go straight home and to the younger one to stay on the sidewalk with his brother.

The elder of the two said that they walks him home ….

So off they went and off we went.

Well time to fly.

We slept in a bit this morning.

Glad to see brighter sunshine.

Have an awesome day.

Living in the moment or one day at a time does not mean that you can not look back from time to time.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 1st day of FEBRUARY, 2019.

Well winter is now upon us.

Snow, snow and more snow.

Temperatures taking a dip.

Was out shovelling the back deck for the pups about an hour ago.

Should have time to do some of the front before my ride arrives.

So what does one do when the snow is blowing and the temperatures are a dipping?

Answer: You surround yourself with puppy love.

This was my Thursday night.

Now poor Mr. Alvin even though he loves his best bud Teddy very much, he cannot seem to get past Teddy having a chew treat.

Even though he has one of his own.

Teddy just laid there all calm and Alvin was not calm.

Despite my valiant efforts to calm him, he just had to wait until Teddy decided to let him have it.

What a friend.

Alvin, what a spoiled guy.

Alvin finally ended up with both …. Teddy is way too easy going.

Out of site out of mind??

Teddy on the bed with a chew treat AND

Mr. Alvin in the hallway by the bedroom.

Oh, isn’t life grand.

Thankfully the boys slept well last night.

I had a great afternoon ….. teeth cleaning …… received my permanent crown, now I feel like ROYALTY.

Then had supper once the freezing came out.

Had a lovely evening with the boys.

My furry four-legged boys.

Well time to leave for work.

So grateful to one of my co-workers for coming to pick me up.

Taking the bus home tonight will be pleasant, I am sure.

Glad we have food and a warm place to be this weekend.

Hunker down and keep warm.

Special Hello to: all my friends in the west …. hope you are safe and warm.

Always, Carol & Alvin & Teddy

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 13th day of November, 2018.

Alvin is sitting by my chair in the office as I key these words and Teddy is sniffing around the office checking things as only a couple of days ago, I changed some of the furniture around.

Only a few minutes ago as I was getting ready in my bathroom with Alvin at my side; Teddy was on the bed playing.

He scooped the pillows and ran under the blanket that lays on the foot of the bed.

Pillows flying in every direction.

He likes to play under the blanket.

When he came out from under his hair was electrified and was flying in all directions.

It was then that I realized that my camera was downstairs.

I missed such a cute photo.

But running down to grab the camera would have brought the subject in hot pursuit.

So I decided that tonight I will make sure that I have the camera with me at all times.

OMG, such a cute sight.

Oh, the boys.

Every morning Alvin gets a little less vocal and a bit more patient.

He is getting used to having a bit of Teddy’s chicken with his food.

ARGH.

They shared blueberries and a bit of banana when I was having breakfast.

Except there are always the moments like just now when Teddy wanted up on my lap and Alvin got between him and me.

He likes his BFF but there are parameters, I guess.

They are so cute.

Black and white, White and black.

Even this morning one of the times they were outside …. it was evident….. Alvin when coming toward the house turned to see where Teddy was.

Alvin came in but still watching for his Teddy.

Yesterday when we were out for a walk we came across a woman and a puppy.

We all stopped.

The puppy was a Tibetan Terrier.

Black and so cute.

So full of energy.

Woman said puppy was her daughter’s and she was looking after him.

Both Alvin and Teddy played together with the new friend.

Later after supper, I paid a visit to Humphrey the Cat.

He still wears the “cone of silence” as I call it (after GET SMART) or most commonly referred to the “cone of shame.”

I was pleasantly surprised when arriving that he was laying on the sofa.

After I took off my coat and shoes, I walked to the sofa and sat down.

Humphrey plunked himself on my lap.

Strange for a cat.

He sat there for a good ten minutes.

I stroked his neck and gently rubbed his back.

He got up and moved about and then returned to my lap.

He did this three times over the time I was visiting.

So cute.

What would I do without these babies.

So cute.

Such great company.

Still wishing that I had some photos from earlier.

They would have brought a smile to your face.

I am certain of that.

Well another beautiful day on the way.

It will be dark when I get home and the pups will be hungry as I am catching the bus today.

Both ways.

But we will go for a walk even if it is short.

Have to take advantage of this beautiful weather.

Well time to run as I have to catch a bus.

Will let the boys out again before I leave.

Have an awesome Tuesday.

Special Hello to:  my sister ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 12th day of November, 2018.

Remembering my Dad who would have been “85” years old today.

On this overcast Monday morning I am hanging out with the pups.

Alvin and Teddy.

Yesterday had a visit with my girl and a trip to COSTCO.

So many folks at the store…..I thought 1.5 hours before closing time it would have been less busy.

I picked up some lights for my Christmas tree as sadly some of the “pre-lit lights” burned out.

So many so that it was beginning to look odd despite a couple of extra sets added.

So last night while supper was cooking I stripped the decorations from the tree and added the new lights.

Then started to place the decorations back on the tree.

I finally called it quits well into the night and took some time to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie and chill with the boys.

Here are some photos of the pups from Saturday.

I will have to study the photos if I want to decorate it more closely to what it was.

Or perhaps just let it go.

Well lots to do.

Last day before back to work.

Happy Monday ….. I can smell the coffee …… YAY.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of July, 2018.

There is a nice cool breeze coming in through the office window as I type these words.

The sky is overcast with rain clouds.

Yesterday Master Teddy spent the day with us.

We had a quiet day just me and the pups.

Enjoying the thunderstorms off and on all day long.

One minute there was thunder and lightning and downpours.

The next minute the sun was shining and it was lovely.

We enjoyed every minute of it.

My flowers are doing well.

Even with the constant pounding of the rain.

Just some photos from our day.

Pups and flowers.

A great combination.

Happy Saturday it was.

Now after having a quiet, relaxing day it is time to get some work done.

Finish laundry, bake some cranberry oatmeals muffins with perhaps some raspberries, some house cleaning, update my financial records, have a shower, go for a walk.

That kind of thing.

STUFF that needs to be done.

The house is quiet this morning with only me and Mr. Alvin.

The boys together can sometimes be noisy.

Alvin actually played with one of his toys yesterday.

The boys played tug-of-war for about 4 seconds but it was cute.

Then each one ran after the toy when I threw it across the room.

They are good for the soul, those boys.

Made me smile and once or twice gave me a moment of “argh.”

Mostly made me smile.

You might notice that Master Teddy has a bandage on one of his front paws.

His Momma told me that after his bath on Friday he ran around like a house on fire, like he usually does (as does Mr. Alvin) and somehow managed to tear his “dew claw.”

So his Momma took him to the Vet where they put on some antiseptic and clipped it off so that it would not catch on anything.

Then bandaged so that it would heal (get hard).

His Mom brought the roll of bandage over – just in case it got wet.

The bandage is the coolest thing ever.

It is gauze but is sticky so it does not require tape or pins.

Not really sticky as in glue but it stays in place.

Poor little guy.

That must have hurt.

Well I had better get this show on the road, so to speak.

Have an awesome day.

I hope that you are able to spend some time relaxing whether with someone or one your own.

Enjoy this day.

Special Hello to:  my daughter and sister, two of my favourite women on the planet.  Kind and good and supportive.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 27th day of May, 2018.

Another gorgeous day has begun.

Yesterday with the cool breeze was comfortable and most enjoyable.

We had Master Teddy spend the day with us.

After supper we went for a walk which went well.

Not too much one going one way and the other.

We bumped into one of our neighbours out with her three small sons for a walk.

The family was on their way home as were, we.

They were happy to see PUPPIES so we finished our walks together.

Nice to visit.

The kiddos were so cute.

One of them placed his hands on the sidewalk and bum in the air was trying to race Teddy.

Oh, how we giggled.

Both of us wished that we would have had a camera along.

This family has a doggie named “Miss Daisy” and she had stayed home due to illness.

She is in kidney failure and on medication.

Her Momma asked if we would stop by as she would like to see Alvin.

Daisy and Alvin get along famously.

Alvin is like this social butterfly that everyone just loves.

Miss Daisy was feeling lots better due in part her Momma thought to a change in meds.

Momma is a nurse and has been given her IV fluids which helps keep her hydrated.

Daisy, Alvin and Teddy ran around their front yard and sprinkled in between where the two old boys as the youngest one was in the stroller as he is 1.5 years old.

The boys are 8 and almost 5 years old.

This Mom works as a Nurse at a nearby hospital.

Busy lady.

Daisy is in our thoughts and prayers.

She is 13 years old and we hope that she has many good years left to live.

Her Momma was worried about her and as her Husband is working out of town; she certainly has her hands full.

I volunteered to help out if she needs me.

Any time day or night.

That is what friends and neighbours are for?  Right?

Yesterday was just one of those great days.

Days are always better when surrounded by puppies, a kitty, a gecko and CHILDREN.

I also spent time with Humphrey, the Cat and Cinder, the Gecko.

They are in my care while their Momma is away on vacation.

The right amount of work, fun and relaxation and exercise.

Perfection.

Well almost time to hit the shower as I am invited to a birthday party this morning.

One of our trio of friends is celebrating a birthday (early as it is on Thursday) and the other one is hosting.

So I get to just show up.

We have such a great time.

I picked up a bottle of wine for her and a turtle for her yard.

Not a real turtle, of course.

I love turtles.

Something a bit different.

Looking forward to chatting and laughing.

I hope that you all had the most perfect weekend.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to:  my sister and all of my girl friends all over the world.

ALWAYS, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 17th day of August, 2017.

Another gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

Just off the phone with my friend “V” who celebrated her birthday yesterday.

First chance we had to speak to each other.

She is one busy lady.

My company has come and gone.

We, being my daughter and I met them at West Edmonton Mall later yesterday afternoon for supper.

Had a nice visit and then we (my daughter and I) drove the boys to the Metallica Concert.

Lots of traffic and construction, OH My Goodness.

After the mall the girls (my niece and two daughters) came back to the house.

We visited and then left the girls with Alvin and I went to pick up the boys from the concert.

The boys loved the concert along with lots of other people.

Back here just before 12:30 a.m. and then up at 6:00 and they were on the road by 7:00 a.m.

Hard to believe they are gone already.

So nice to see everyone.

What a crazy wonderful vacation I have had ……

Well time for coffee and to relax.

Today will be a quiet day ….

Special Hello to: all those folks celebrating a birthday.

Always, Carol & Alvin
