Last Half 2022 – September

Good Morning ALL! Another beautiful day on the way. The sky is partially overcast but I am hoping that it remains dry for the day. I am so grateful to my daughter for spending overnight on Friday with me and Alvin. She stayed until about noon on Saturday. I had a list of things that I required an extra set of hands for so she helped me out. We hauled the dresser in from the garage and it is all set up and most of the drawers are filled already. Moved things about. One of my downstairs plants has a new home atop of the dresser. She helped me trim a bit more fur/hair from Mr. Alvin’s front paws. He was squirmy so we did not get much but a bit and that is great. There was an ear cleaning (he sure sat a lot better for her than for me). We moved the heavier plant pots that had been emptied into the garage along with the base of the umbrella stand that she gave me. Well actually the base is sitting on the upper deck drying out from the last rain. I do not want wet sand sitting in the garage. The big thing was TRIMMING THE TRIM. I was amazed that with girl power how much we were able to do. We even brought out the 5 foot step ladder and got some of the higher branches, not the highest ones but enough that I feel better. We were so proud and even had fun doing it. Amanda likes to trim trees, I found out. We also found out that if we both hold onto the tree trimmer together and one pulls the rope it worked a lot better. The tree trimmer is about 8 or so feet long and has a hard core blade system at the end. It is very heavy for one person. She was amazed that I had done it by myself the past years. Well, I always say “you do what needs to be done, one way or the other.” We tossed the branches over the back gate as I needed to borrow my neighbours shorter handle tree trimmer tool to cut up the branches so that they can be taken by our garage people. So it was a great morning.

In the afternoon, I did laundry, some cleaning and later in the afternoon, our friend Pauline stopped by with a plant and some seeds. Sunflower and Brown-Eyed Susan plants. We chatted for a few minutes and then we walked her home where we had a short visit as it was time for her to prepare supper and me to go home and ready mine. I fed Mr. Alvin before she arrived at our house.

So a great day all round. I rewound and watched LIGHTYEAR a few more times and even saw bits that I had missed from Friday night. That was in the afternoon. Just left the movie playing as I did some housework. Last night it was just watching some episodes of YOUNG SHELDON and BIG BANG THEORY. Some I had seen before but I enjoy these two shows so I watched them again.

Our tree is beginning to turn yellow. I noticed there are quite a few trees that are still very green.

The grass is a mix of green and yellow/brown. The north side of the street most of the lawns have gone yellow/brown but on our side, the south side, many remain green.

Well time to go and get dressed for the day. Have some coffee and then go and chop some branches. I have to retrieve the laundry that is drying in the basement and then do a couple of loads of laundry. Have a walk with Mr. Alvin somewhere along the way and then have a quiet one. We might use BOBI the robot vacuum cleaner to clean upstairs. My daughter is lending me BOBI as her floor space is small and she does not use much and my vacuum cleaner, my beautiful ELECTROLUX is not working. I think it is the sensor according to some troubleshooting research that I did on GOOGLE Search. Perhaps at some point I will find someone who can fix it.

Wishing you a great day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities with COFFEE.

Always, Carol & Alvlin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 15th day of March, 2018.

Spring is getting closer.

The bunnies are beginning to turn that glorious shade of brown.

The sun is bringing the temperature from winter to spring.

We are on the way.

The official day of spring is not far away.

Next week.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk last night.

The sidewalks are starting to be free from ice now.

There is water in places and still lots of snow but that is mostly away from the sidewalks.

So grateful.

Alvin is doing much better.

He is still not quite his old self but he will be soon.

He is sitting in the hallway …. doing his short little whines as he does not like to walk on the floor in the office.

He does not like the laminate flooring for sure.

I guess it feels slippery to him.

At all of his favourite sleeping and watching places there are cushiony mats and rugs for him to have some security and for his little legs/paws.

As he ages I will need to find a better way for him to mount/dismount from his chair, the sofa and the bed.

There are options and we will find the best one for him.

Yesterday we had our semi-annual off-site staff meeting.

We had a great guest speak.

She has spoke about one year ago and was so popular that she was requested to return.

If you happen to live in or around Edmonton or in Alberta her name is Kim Silverthorn of TACIT Knowledge.

I could listen to her speak all day long.

She is interesting and engaging.

I also found out at our meeting that a newer employer knows my daughter.

Small world.

Well here we go.

Time to put on the finishing touches and off to work.

Special Hello to: all those folks who have aging pets ….. just love them and do what is the best for them.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 1st day of March, 2016.

Hello March …… great to see you.

Can you believe it?

It is March.

Soon we will be forwarding our clocks by one hour  ….. spring forward.

Soon the ice and snow will be melted …….

Soon the bunnies will be brown ……..

Soon the trees will be budding …….

Soon ………

YAY …..

So close ….. so exciting.

My favourite time of year ……

Okay likely a close second to Christmas time ……

After reading so many horrific stories on  last night ….

I want to keep this blog …. happy and positive.

I would like us all …. every human being on this planet …..

To take pause ….. stop for a second.

How do you treat yourself?

How do you treat family and friends?

How do you treat animals?

How do you treat the environment?

I will say that when I was typing this I was asking the question like this:

How do you treat your family and friends?

As soon as I typed that line I knew there was something wrong.

The word “your” …… this makes everything seem like a possession.

So I removed the word and it feels better.

Stop making everything a possession.

We have to be better ….. we just have to.

One of these days there will be a “bigger threat to human beings than ourselves.”

I always look to the sky and think of how we would feel if another species would find themselves on our planet ….. would they eat us, beat us, torture us, throw us in cages, and kill us?

Just because one is “bigger” does not mean to say that we should be threatening all around us.

Come on people ……. can we please be better and treat all other beings with respect?

Well I guess it is almost time to finish getting ready for work.

I hope that everyone takes pause today ….. stops for a second and goes in a different direction.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 24th day of February, 2016.

Appears to be another beautiful day weather wise.

Alvin and I sure enjoyed our walk last night to the park.

The ice is melting and it is easier and much less dangerous to be out walking the past few days.

So happy about that.

Spring is on the way ……

I did notice a couple of bunnies out and about yesterday morning on my walk to the bus stop AND wait for it …… drum roll please.

THEY ARE STARTING TO TURN BROWN.

That is always a great sign.

Spring is on the way …..

February sure seems to be a month for birthdays.

I seem to know a great many people celebrating birthdays this month.

Happy Birthday Everyone.

I kind of twisted the muscles in my neck when I was going to bed last night.

Wouldn’t you know it.

Anyway it was difficult to get comfortable and certainly is a bit painful this morning.

Unfortunately I do not have anything to take …. I did find one bottle with one tablet ….. but the bottle had an expiry date of 2014 …..

Not sure if the one tablet was that old but did not wish to take a chance.

Oh well ….. hopefully throughout the day it will work it’s way out.

It is truly funny/sad/strange how easy it is to hurt one’s body with no malice intended.

Age …. likely …… probably ….. maybe not.

Oh well ……. I will just suck it up and get on with the day ….

I hope that you enjoy this Wednesday …. middle of the week.

Special Hello to: all those folks out there celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, finding a job, finishing school ….. anything that makes you feel happy.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 18th day of February, 2016.

Wow, here we go ….. more than halfway through the Heart month.

Valentine’s Day is a recent memory.

I have completed my route canvassing for the Heart and Stroke.

March is just around the corner.

I love March because my daughter was born in that month.

March for me marks the beginning of spring ….

Although this year February feels more like spring.

The ice is melting on our street in the neighbourhood which is great.

The forecast is for snow so less ice underneath is always a good thing.

Today I was just thinking that sometimes you just have to let go ….

There are some things that come up in your day to day life, and although you would like to change them – they are just not worth the fight …. the energy.

So life carries on …..

Put it out of your mind and get back to living life without that crap.

I have not seen a bunny as of late …. wondering if they are starting to turn brown.

I know that some of the birds were confused with this weather.

I guess even Mother Nature gets things mixed up.

After all she is getting to be of an age …. like me …. only older … much but she is so graceful …..

Sometimes when I look around at the young stuff that surrounds me I do feel incredibly not with it and old.

Other times I feel young and alive and “with it.”

I guess that is life ….. do the best that you can in every moment and for the ones that lack your best ….. well there has to be a few of those around to keep things “interesting.”

Okay almost time to get this show on the road.

I seem to say that several times in the morning.

I guess I am the “show.”

Pretty funny …. don’t you think?

I am grateful for me Alvin, my daughter, my son-in-law, my grand-puppies, my family and friends, for my home, to be employed and to be healthy.

All the basics are covered ….. so life is good.

Have a great Thursday ….

& oh, today is payday so that is always a good day.

Special Hello to: my sister back in Regina ……and to my brothers in Alberta.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 26th day of February, 2015.

Did I not just say Good Morning and Welcome to the 1st day of February, 2015 …. like a few days ago.

Oh how the days zip by.

It is very cold here in Edmonton.

The temperatures fluctuate from plus to minus on a regular basis.

I am going to close my eyes and visualize that spring is here.

The snow and ice has all melted.

The streets and sidewalks are bare but wet.

There is only a bit of snow on the north side of my house.

The bunnies are beginning to turn brown (always a good sign).

The birds are starting to return and so great to hear their songs.

There is a sense of birth and renewal in the air.

This is what I am going to concentrate on during breaks today.

SPRING.

I would like spring to come, please.

Find what you love and visualize ….. just a few moments everyday and make your “dreams” a reality.

Have a wonderful Thursday.

Time to go…… to work.

Special Hello to: my sister

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 22nd day of September, 2014.

Wow, “FALL” is here.

The leaves are changing steadily and with every gust of wind more end up on the ground.

I wished that the coloured leaves would remain for a longer period of time.

Longer so that we could enjoy the wonderful colours that Mother Nature shows off this time of year.

I saw a rabbit the other morning and thankfully it is still brown.

A good sign?

I guess me and Alvin had better book our photographer and have our photo done sooner than later.

Our household kind of slept in a bit so I must cut this short this morning.

I hope that you are enjoying the weather and that it is nice where you are living.

Supposed to be 28 degrees celsius here in Edmonton today.

Crazy for the last full week of September.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: all those people who are following my blog, thank you so much.

Always, Carol and Alvin
