Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 31st day of January, 2017.

Wow, the last day of the month.

I am back …. was down with a “bug” yesterday but am feeling AWESOME today.

Sure was windy yesterday.

Woke up this morning to a nice thick layer of snow.

It was still snowing at 5:00 and at 5:30 when I was out shovelling.

Had to shovel a path for Mr. Alvin ….. so he would go “poop.”

Today feels like the day to see how I started this BLOG …. my very first blog.

How have things changed …. well that will be tomorrow.

This is written on April 5, 2010 ….. wow.

I managed to write most days since that time.

Which is a huge accomplishment.

Here is how it all began:

Hi Everyone,

I want to share my “world” with you.  Writing has always played a major role in my life in one way, shape or form.  My dream is to be a published writer, a creator of works to share with the world.  This is my beginning.  My New Life @ 51 will start going back almost two years.  It was just after I turned “51” that I decided to retire after near thirty years with the same company, and  move to a new city in a new province.  Lots of surprises and gifts along the way.  Being “50” something is a bit different from “30” something especially in this day and age.

My life has always been near chaos to some degree.  I decided it was time while I was still young enough to make some monumental changes, to just go for it.  Needless to say my decisions caused much speculation amongst my family and friends. Playing a major role in my motivation was having my only child, my daughter living hundreds of miles away.  We only saw each other a couple of times each year.  She moved in August of 2002 to further her education, and this was the summer of 2008.  We missed each other terribly,  and I missed so many birthdays and just days.  Well, it was time to make some changes!

They say that timing is everything but I think you make your own.  Timing that is. Staying positive, and being optimistic are important tools to living your life.  They certainly have helped me during the past year and a half.

I hope that you will enjoy my “BLOG” and that perhaps I can help to inspire you to make changes, and try something new.  It doesn’t matter how big or how small a change is but spreading your wings is a good thing.  Learning something new keeps your brain alive and functioning. Keeps you young.   Also I want to share some of the things that I have learned during my almost “53” years on this good old planet Earth.  Maybe a recipe for my favourite cookies (everyone rants and raves over) or how to entertain a two year old.  Just the stuff of life.

If you follow my adventure on this BLOG, I promise to entertain you, educate and inspire and above all, make you LAUGH. Laughter is so important in our lives, and we should all laugh more often.  Belly laugh…… till your eyes fill with “water” !!

Anyway, here goes …………  🙂

Special Hello to: all those folks who took the time out of their busy schedules to read my works.  I am so thankful for your time.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Evening and it has been Monday the 28th day of September, 2015 all day.

I was away sick from work today ….. some bug got me but I feel much better after resting most of the day.

Mr. Alvin likes to keep me up …… always going to the door.

I am grateful that by sleeping for several extra hours and just resting the worse is over.

The sun is shining and I can tell you it has been a beautiful day ….. because Mr. Alvin spent a lot of time in the back yard.

So in the remaining hours of this Monday I am writing my blog.

Did you see the moon last night?

I saw it at the half way point but unfortunately the highlights of the evening were out of my sight.

I guess I might get to see it in 2033 ….. I will only be 76 so a date in the future.

Well I should go and check on Mr. Alvin ….. we won’t be walking tonight ….. as much as I think the fresh air would be good .the

walk is better left until tomorrow….. just going up and down stairs can be tiring.

Have a great evening and I will be back tomorrow.

Special Hello to: all those folks who are surrounded by four-legged friends ….. always treat them lovingly and with respect.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good morning and welcome to Thursday the 23rd day of July, 2015.

The sky is dark blue to the south and I can see the sun peering over the houses and shining brightly on my neighbour’s garage.

This morning while I was putting on my makeup – Alvin stood by the register – looked down – barked – kept starring down.

Sniffed …. took his hunting posture.

He did this for a few minutes and then gave up.

Oh, please GOD that it only have been a bug …..

It is with a heavy heart that I write these words.

I have mentioned on several occasions about my neighbour’s cat, Miss Aussie.

Miss Aussie passed away yesterday.

She had some health issues, and in the end just stopped eating.

Miss Aussie lived a great life.

Her favourite treat was “halibut” ….. yes, her Momma would buy her that fish.

She loved it …..

She kept us all hopping, literally …..

She would always swat at me when I came to the house.

Alvin loved her even though he never was able to get too close to her.

I will miss seeing her sitting on the living room ledge watching the world go by.

She really was a beauty ….. so pretty.

Gorgeous long hair.

After six years of being her neighbour, she was finally starting to warm up to me.

One time when I was watching over her while her Momma was away, she jumped onto the sofa and sat about two feet away, I was so excited that I could barely sit still.  This was huge for Miss Aussie.

Another time she walked right up to me, and did not take a swipe.

She was definitely a one woman cat.

Her Momma loved her so much and will miss her always.

Me and Alvin will miss her.

All those who knew her will miss her, too.

We loved you Aussie ….. we love you.

Miss Aussie,

Born 1999 – 2015.

Rest in Peace our friend.

Special Hello to: all those folks who lost a beloved friend, a family member in their pet.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Afternoon and Welcome to Friday the 28th day of June, 2013.

WOW, 28th of June.

I apologize for not writing yesterday and earlier today.

Somewhere along the line I picked up a bug – the one with the sore throat, chills and fever.

Thank goodness the worst appears to be over.

In about 8.5 hours or so my niece and her family are coming here from Regina, Saskatchewan.

I am so excited to see them …. it has been three years since we physically have seen each other.

We have seen each other via SKYPE which is so amazing.

It makes you feel like it hasn’t been that long ….. I love that technology.  Very cool.

It is hot here in Edmonton and the forecast is for the same over this long Canada Day weekend.

I am just going to get ready for work as I work at the store tonight ….. so have a few things to do before I leave.

Oh, Alvin has the best sister and brother-in-law on the planet … guess what they did on Wednesday (which was when I day two of me feeling less than stellar).

I got to their place and found that they had given Mr. Alvin a haircut.  He looks like a movie star.  So very cute.  Very handsome my boy.

That sure helped me.

I hope that you are as blessed as I am to have wonderful family surrounding you.

So the house is clean, the yard is manicured, and I baked some chocolate chip cookies this morning.

So all ready for company.

So I hope that you have a great weekend.

Take care and I will catch you all later.

Thank you so much for reading my blog ….. it means the world to me.

“THOUGHT FOR THE DAY” ……. LOVE IS EVERYTHING….IT IS ALL YOUR REALLY NEED…..

Special Hello to: DG&S were on their way to see us …… YAY.

Always, Carol and Alvin…

P.S. the rain has done something magical to the rose bushes that surround our walkways and lakes in our neighbourhood …. the bushes are an explosion of huge bright pink fragrant flowers.  I could stand by them for hours just inhaling the smell.  Oh, how I wish we could bottle that fragrance.  OMG, so beautiful…… I am so grateful to live here.

The violas are my contribution to “flower power.”

It is amazing what a little coloured cut glass and the rays of the sun can do ….. voile little coloured squares lining my wall
