It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Monday Morning.

What an absolutely gorgeous morning it is.

Alvin wanted to just sit on the deck and take in the morning but alas I have to go to work and that just is not possible.

The bright early morning sunshine has disappeared behind a bit of cloud cover but I believe it is temporary.

The forecast is for fairly mild temperatures with some clouds over the week.

We will take that.

I was able to upload/download some photos.

My flowers and the boys relaxing.

I just ran downstairs to grab some coffee as the photos was uploading to my photos on this blog.

Alvin was certainly enthralled with something out front as he gazed out the living room window.

I took a peek and it was a bunny.

He just stood there and checked him/her out.

No barking.

No growling.

Just silent gazing.

So proud of my boy.

Tomorrow the fence gets repaired, so happy about that.

Well it is almost time to begin work.

How did that happen?

We had such a wonderful weekend.

I hope you did as well.

Happy Monday.

Enjoy your coffee or morning beverage, whatever it may be.

Living with kindness and respect no matter what.

We just have to.

I/We, shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and Welcome to Day TWO of working at home for me.

Well actually I was pleasantly surprised and most happy that everything went well.

I was able to do my work (there are a couple of jobs that we are not able to do at this time from home but that is okay).

We are able to take phone calls as we have a new phone system that we have had for a little while now.

With this phone system we are able to download their APP and set up on our cell/mobile phones.

So it is okay.

Phone calls are not my favourite thing to do but that is okay …

Our clients need to have multiple ways of contacting us and even more so since our office has closed to the public.

Yesterday one of our friends and her daughter came to take Alvin for a walk in the early afternoon.

I got him dressed including his jacket as the wind was cool.

He seemed like he was happy to be going out.

I watched from the living room window as they went down the steps and tried to go onto the public sidewalk.

They were on the sidewalk and Alvin was still half way down the sidewalk looking back at the house.

He has separation issues, clearly.

After a few minutes they walked back to the house, Alvin stood on the porch and whined.

I opened the door and his walk was over.

I felt bad as they were really excited to take him for a walk.

He knows them both really well as we see them all the time.

Anyway what can you do.

We did go for a nice walk after work.

4:05 p.m. the computer was off and I was downstairs and few minutes later we were out the door.

Sure is nice not having the commute.

The sky is clear as the sun begins to rise.

I can smell the coffee perking and am excited to have a mug of my freshly brewed from beans coffee.

It is a good thing that today marks the beginning of the weekend.

I am pooped, all of this has been slightly exhausted.

Alvin was supposed to have his regular vet appointment tomorrow however, they want to close to all non-essential visits for Saturdays (weekends) and during the week.

As Alvin goes in regular and needs to have his anal glands checked out, we have an appointment today at 4:30 p.m.

I will pick up another bag of his food and his glucosamine chews.

Well it is almost 7:30 a.m. and 1/2 hour till I officially start work although I will start a bit early.

Getting set up ….. and all.

Please keep an eye on any seniors or friends/family/neighbours that have mobility issues …. checking with them daily by phone, text or even if you set up a way to say hello

by going to their house, ringing the doorbell or knocking and they come to the window and wave or thumbs up.

Something ….

We need to keep an eye on each other.

Another new phrase “social distancing.”

Perhaps it is not new but I had not heard it before recently.

Be safe …..

Treat others and yourself with Kindness and Respect.

Watch some old movies for fun.

Always, Carol & Alvin

I got the first day of spring mixed up.

It would appear that spring officially came upon us YESTERDAY.

Oh my ……

I saw a bunny with a brown tail and ears.

That is the best sign ever.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 28th day of April, 2019.

A glorious pale blue sky greets this Sunday morning.

We have been watching a magpie out of our bedroom window with much interest.

I understand where the old phrase came from “too fat to fly.”

This little one had such a round tummy that he/she would land on a branch and the branch would break ….

To be honest they were not really branches as we would deem to be moreover twigs.

Down the beautifully coloured black and white with blue/green feathers would fall to the next twig.

Twigs snapping everywhere.

If only he would land on a bigger branch.

Finally after what seemed forever the birdie got out of the entanglement of twigs and landed on a larger branch before flying away.

Only was a few seconds but did seem forever.

Nature is so entertaining.

Earlier this morning as I was opening the living room blind before it was light outside; a brown bunny was hopping toward the house.

I guess he heard the blind movement turned around and hopped to the other side of the street.

There remains snow on the front lawn which faces to the north and some on the grass in the backyard.

I would think by the end of the day if the temperatures does warm a bit more it will be gone.

What a glorious morning we are experiencing.

I found a new battery pack and it has been charged so I was able to download some photos.

These are from our Easter package:

This was the first time that Mr. Alvin actually needed helped opening his treats from our friend V.

One of them was a toy and he pretty much had it opened but the other was a tin of wet food and he just could not get his paws and mouth in unison to work it open.

Between the unexpected trip to BON TON Bakery and the goodies from our friend and a piece of apple pie from Teddy’s Mom; I shall say that I have enough comfort food

to last me awhile …… CARB City.

The third photo in of the Easter Bunny was carrot cake with cream cheese icing …. OMG, so good.  The photo does not do it justice.

Perhaps I should have snapped it without the plastic covering.

The above two non-treat photos are from this morning.

I shovelled most of the snow from the deck yesterday and the remaining has all but melted.

The furniture looks so much happier without being covered with snow.

Well time to get this show on the road.

We had a very lazy day yesterday.

Just laundry and spending time with the boys.

Ok, I did sweep the floor and empty the dish washer.

But does that really count.

Do not think so.

The wind was so cold we opted to stay indoors and did not go for a walk.

Today there remains a few things to do and one being to hit the grocery store.

A woman can not live on CARBS alone.

Or can she?

I likely could but sooner of later my body would say “enough.”

Happy Sunday.

I hope that you are enjoying the day wherever you are ….

Special Hello to: My daughter, you will do great.  We are with you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 20th day of March, 2018.

Today is the first day of spring.

The air feels warm as earlier I was out picking up last night’s and earlier this morning’s poop.

Yes, I am a pooper scooper.

If you have a dog or even a cat.

You become a human pooper scooper.

Okay enough talk of that.

The air is warm and so far the sun is shining.

Although it does not seem to be as bright as even a few moments ago.

I am home (vacation day) today with me Alvin.

He has his second ear treatment as he has an ear yeast infection.

It seems to be working as he has not been scratching his ear.

Maybe a little bit on Sunday night but that is all.

Sure am happy about that.

I think he wonders why I am home.

With the official day of spring here.

It should not be too long.

I want to say something – last night I saw a bunny.

The bunny still had a large amount of “white” fur.

A bit of brown but not as much as I would like at this time of year.

Our weather forecast for the next couple of weeks although the temps are warmer – they are saying some “- – – -“.

I cannot say the word.

You know the four-lettered word that starts with “S” and ends with “W.”

ARGH.

I am so tired of ice …. ice and most especially the ice.

Yesterday just as I was walking by one of my friend’s house on my way to work, I slipped on some ice.

Picked myself up and continued to the bus stop.

When I got to work I saw that my pants now have a worn patch on the knee from the concrete / ice.

My knee has a the skin scrapped off.

No pain except for the fact that those are/were my favourite pair of pants.

I will find a way to fix them.

It is not a huge area.

It is not even a hole but I am quite certain that once they are laundered there will be a hole.

Oh well.

I am okay and the pants, well I AM going to fix them.

Time to go and get dressed and have some COFFEE before we head out for Mr. Alvin’s appointment.

I hope that you all have a wonderful first day of spring.

I remember when I was a child walking into the pastures and seeing fields of purple.

Those beautiful furry little flowers named “crocuses.”

I loved the smell in the air and those flowers.

These days the air does not have that smell.

Crocuses, none in the City.

Good memories, though.

Special Hello to:  my sister who will remember those little purple flowers.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 5th day of March, 2018.

Happy Birthday to my Aunt “L,” who lives in British Columbia.

Wishing you a great day.

The snow finally stopped just after lunch yesterday.

Thank goodness for that …… six times I shovelled the deck …..

We had a nice walk yesterday but the park had not been plowed so we did not get too far.

I watched the OSCARS last night …. 90th Annual.

Very impress with 94 year old Eve-Marie Saint who presented.

She was in the movie “On the Waterfront” in 1954.

Her memory and voice was crystal clear.

Well I am running late.

I hope that you all have a great day.

I know that Saskatchewan was getting the snow that we had and I hope they are all okay.

Saw a bunny run by in the snow and he/she was still WHITE ….. ARGH.

Take care.

Special Hello to: family and friends.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day.

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday, the 18th day of July 2013.

How are you doing this morning?

I am doing great.

Been thinking a lot about my thoughts over the course of any given day.

Isn’t it strange how you can be feeling wonderful and having great thoughts and then everything get all mumbled and jumbled up?

Sometimes it is where you are and what you are doing?

No matter how positive and how many good feelings it is hard to remain in that mode.

I know this is kind of jumbled this morning but truly I am feeling “jumbled” this morning.

The sun is shining and I even saw a bunny sitting on our lawn this morning just licking his face.

It made me think of things.

I was dreaming lots and perhaps even over thinking.

Anyway, that is it.

Just have to do what I say and say what I mean.

I strive to be the best person that I can be.

I truly love people and want to be thought of in that light.

I hope that you have a great day and understand what I am trying to say.

Life is always easy and all you can do is try to be the best you can be in every moment.

That is what I am going to do today.

Moment by moment.

Time to go to work.

Thanks for listening.

Special Hello to: all those people who try each day ….. keep the faith.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Wednesday Morning and Welcome to the 5th day of June, 2013.

It is a gloriously beautiful morning here in Edmonton.

Earlier when Alvin and I were out for our morning stroll the air was filled with the smell of slightly fresh cut grass and there was a crispness surrounding us.

The birds chirped and sang their songs ….. a bunny hopped by and disappeared into a neighbourhood on the other side of the lake.

As we walked the sun rose higher and higher those brilliant colours filling the morning sky.

Truly the early morning is so great.

So my thought for this day is this:  if your pet could talk …. so that you could understand him/her…..what do you think they would be saying?

I can only guess about the words and thoughts that would be flowing from Mr. Alvin.

Somedays it would be “Ah, come on.  Please play with me.”  or maybe “quit being so chintzy with the vegetables” and of course I am more than generous.

He is quite spoiled…..which is likely not a great thing but I look at it this way.  My daughter was spoiled with whatever I could give and do for her (which wasn’t lots by today’s standards).

Oh well, I can only imagine what he would say.

Likely somedays he would just be laughing ……

I know that his sneezes are when he’s not getting his way ….. or he wants something faster than I can deliver.

Maybe if we pay closer attention to what is going on we could figure out what they are thinking.

I love my Alvin no matter what he thinks or does.

He is so cute.  One quick story.  Several weeks ago I slipped on some ice ….. sprained my knee …. I went to physiotherapy and was given exercises to do which I have been doing ….. anyway some of them I do on my (our) bed ….. every time I move the pillows to lay down and do them …. he jumps up … walks over to my face …. licks it …. and then snuggles right close…… same thing every time.  So cute.  Ah, my boy.  He loves his Momma.

Well time to fly here.  Work, you know.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to:  pet owners ….. love them as they unconditional love you …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Alvin and the Snow !!

In case you were not aware …. over the past couple of days the City of Edmonton has received a TON of snow.  Yes, that white stuff is covering everything …. up, down and all around.  I have been shovelling like mad.   Alvin, my dog came outside with me while I was shovelling in the back yard.  I have a deck that goes from the house to the garage.   There isn’t much room left in the yard to actually put the white stuff.  In the beginning, I was throwing it off the deck ….. I can no longer do that …..anyway back to Alvin.  He was sniffing about as he likes to do.  He follows me wherever I go …. if I am in the living room, he’s in the living room.  So when I am outside he wants to be outside.   Alvin had been outside for several minutes, and it is kind of cold when I noticed that he was lifting up his paws (as if they were freezing) …. so I ran over to him and called him to go into the house.  I went in and wiped off his paws with a soft towel ….. poor little guy.  When I went back outside to finish the “snow removal” …. he was watching me from the back door (window).  Once he warmed up up, of course he was back outside…

Earlier in the day, about noon,  we went for a walk.  I get all of these flyers, so I usually take them to a new friend who does not  receive them.  She lives a few blocks away.  I had cleaned off our front walk earlier  but most of the way Alvin was jumping, like a bunny  through the snow.  LOL.  Unfortunately his Momma was holding onto the leash for dear life …… I got a workout, that is for sure.  He was cold by the time we got home as he would stop and look up at me …. I think that he wanted me to carry him.  I would have picked him up but he has definitely put on a bit of weight  (was 22) over the past couple of months, and I wasn’t sure that I could carry him too far.  But if it had been any colder outside I would have picked him up to warm him.  I am a good Momma (not pack leader).  Oh, Alvin also wears a jacket so at least his body stays a bit warm.

Just a little while ago it was time for a bath ….. oh, I also found this gadget called a FURMINATOR (superman kind of brush for animals that have lots of extra hair/fur).  So I brushed him downstairs before going to the bath and got a good handful of hair.  He really did stand there pretty good for me.

So now Alvin has had a bit of exercise, brushed and combed, bathed and clean …… (he is napping now).

He is tuckered out…..  Momma has to go now and finish making some Christmas presents (jewelry), and then get the crafts all in order for the little kids Christmas party here on Saturday and if time allows WRAP presents.

Well it is almost 3:00 p.m. …… yikes.

Alvin says Merry Christmas…..

Always, Carol
