Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 14th day of September, 2016.

Still dark out but during the first part of my bus ride to work the sun begins to rise.

Yesterday morning it was the most glorious rainbow of oranges and pinks and yellows.

Breathtaking.

One of the things that I love to do on my bus rides is this little game.

Kind of perks me up and gets my brain working.

I find a word and see how many words I can make.

Example:  Edmonton

ton

one

on

to

too

mode

tone

moo

moon

met

toe

Well unfortunately I have to fly ….. running a tad late.

I hope that you will have some fun trying out this word game.

It is fun and a good way to begin your day.

Special Hello to: my friends “M” and “V” back in Saskatchewan …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 4th day of March, 2016.

I had the most wonderful evening last night with my friends from Saskatoon.

They had brought with them another friend so we four had a great time.

Instead of eating on Bourbon Street in one of the many restaurants – we opted to eat in the food court.

My old stomping grounds – I hadn’t eaten there for almost one year.

In fact at my favourite “food kiosk” they remembered me by name.

One of the girls asked where had I been?

How sweet.

So many wonderful people.

We had an awesome visit.

They took me back to their rooms to show me as I had never been to the Fantasyland Hotel.

I will also share the story from their first night.

Apparently a woman in the room above them was in the hot tub (not your back yard type) relaxing and drinking.

Not a good combination.

Now the tubs are huge and I guess she was so relaxed that she fell asleep and the water kept running.

My friends heard a dripping and found water coming through their ceiling at the light (scary).

Called front desk right away.

Saved the woman’s life.

Now that is that for your first night in town.

We ended up playing a game – memory game with tiles and I will not get the spelling correct – MAHJON

It was fun.

We laughed and visited.

My friend “G” belongs to a clogging group back in Saskatoon and an instructor from Edmonton also dropped by.

Now this lady is so interesting.

She teaches all sorts of fitness and wellness classes.

We learned how to “TAP” last night.

I was so relaxed on my bus ride home.

When I left the mall – I walked right onto the bus as it was “waiting” for me.

Coming home to a house with no “Alvin” ….. was lonely but he is with my daughter and her family so he is well looked after ……. but I still miss him.

He comes home tomorrow morning.

It is almost time to get this show on the road.

I am so grateful for my friends and for them introducing me to two new friends.

The circle expands.

Also when I got off the bus one of my friends that usually catches the bus in the morning with me was getting off the bus to come home, too.

She attends post secondary school … nice young lady.

Turns out she lives a few door down the street from me and when we go for our nightly walks we go by her house.

Small world.

Time to go.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: new friends.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 3rd day of November, 2015.

WOW, what a difference a day can make …. I feel so much better.

Funny how a sore throat can turn into something else over the course of a couple of days.

Lots of “Steeped Tea” ….. different HERBAL blends, sleep, and of course, cuddles with Mr. Alvin.

A winning combination.

I missed writing yesterday as I was feeling pretty miserable.

Yesterday it was raining here, and at times you could see snow flakes in the air but by the time they made touchdown, melted.

So pretty but we would be happy if they waited until December to make their stay official.

Well back to work today.

Always feels like the first day after I have been away even if it has been only one day.

Strange?

I would like to think that Mr. Alvin liked having me home but perhaps not as I messed up his routine.

Who knows …. he would never let on.

He is just that way …. does not wish to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Well almost time to leave for the office ….

Another wonderful ride on City Transit.

Actually the bus ride is pretty good.

I only wish that when people were sick they would stay at home.

People sniffling and snorting, coughing and sneezing ….

I know it is not always possible to stay at home but sure would make less other people sick.

Okay that is my rant …. wish for the day.

I wish that you all are feeling wonderful and are surrounded today by love and laughter, kindness and respect.

Special Hello to: family … yours and mine.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 26th day of June, 2015.

YAY, it is the weekend.

It is a gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

Few clouds clearing up from our rain and lightning storm overnight.

Sun rising.

Breeze keeping it cool for now.

Forecast is for another hot day.

Yesterday on the bus ride home ….

Several times over the radio a female voice announced to the drivers “that another driver was pulled over and sick to their stomachs” …. she also reminded them to keep hydrated and if they feel faint or sick to PULL OVER.

Our bus driver comments “they are dropping like flies.”

That is a great reminder to everyone in this heat “KEEP HYDRATED” ….

That is also a HUGE REMINDER to those people who have children and pets …. KEEP THEM HYDRATED.

I was kind of upset as I noticed on my bus ride home all of the people out walking their dogs in this heat.

Honestly some people do not think before they act.

Hot weather is not great for anyone, and can you imagine with a fur coat.

That is why animals in the wild stay in the shade during the heat of the day.

Hopefully today people realize that and keep their pets cool and hydrated.

Also not one of those people owners had water with them.

Well it is almost time for me to leave to go to work.

I am so grateful that I have central air.

I am so grateful that Mr. Alvin will be home and comfortable.

We always wait and walk later in the evening although I am sad to say that we have not walked the past couple of nights.

But better to be healthy than suffer from heat stroke.

Animals get heat stroke, too.

Same as us.

Special Hello to: my sister who is leaving Regina for Calgary this afternoon …. safe drive, you guys.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 11th day of May, 2015.

Beautiful morning after a beautiful day.

So great to see the sky beginning to lighten as me and Alvin arise at 5:00 a.m.

Alvin and I now have a routine, I would say.

Routine are good most especially for pets.

During the week we keep pretty much to a regular schedule.

Do you have a schedule or is every day different?

I am lucky because I have one job now, same hours every day. Upon arriving at home it is let Alvin outside, feed Alvin and then get changed, go for a walk, and then have supper.  Most evenings just do bit of tidying up and anything that requires immediate attention, and other than that we relax on the sofa.  By relax I mean watch a bit of television.  Sometimes I just get lost in the moment gazing out the living room while snuggling with Alvin.

Most of us working folk only have a few waking hours at home during the week.

It is crazy how many hours we spend away from home, at work ….

To have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies and to pay the bills.

I like to get to bed during the week at the same time.

I tend to leave the big jobs for the weekend.

Now that the lawn requires attention I would rake it and water it during the week of course.

Perhaps leave the mowing for the weekend.

We all do what works best for us.

You never know what the day will bring.

I am hoping for a quiet day that I can accomplish everything on my TO DO LIST (at work).

Well here it is almost time to leave and looking out the office window I can see the sunrise ….

It is going to be a glorious day ….. the sky is clear with a slight breeze.

I do kind of enjoy the bus ride to work …. mainly because I get on one bus and go all the way to work.

Sometimes in the evening it takes three buses to get home if you miss that one.

Oh well, life is pretty great on this end.

I hope that you all had a great Mother’s Day ….

I was absolutely spoiled ….. huge ( BIG ) bouquet of roses, gerber daisies, carnations, hydrangeas,  and several other flowers who names elude me at 6:00 a.m. …… the most beautiful card, and the company first and foremost of my daughter and grand-puppies.

We even went out for a bit to run some errands and I picked up one of Mike Dooley’s book (started to read last night), some wooden spoons, couple of cool place mats for the kitchen table and some groceries and a pot of flowers for the deck.

WHAT a great day.

Still excited ……

Okay gotta go ….. have a great Monday.

Clear skies ahead.

Special Hello to: all my friends and family ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 5th day of February, 2015.

Not sure where this great morning evaporated to but it is almost time to leave as I type these words.

Just wanted to share an experience with you:

Last night I met two different women on my bus ride home.

One on the first leg of the trip …. an older woman.

Face filled with beautiful lines and you could just tell she had a good heart.

She shared stories and I as well.

We found in our 20 minute trip together that we both clean up our neighbourhoods for Capital City Clean-Up.

I so enjoyed our conversation.

The next woman got on later after the other woman had departed.

She had her son with her in a stroller.

I found out during our conversation that her family had come to Canada from Iraq about one and one half years ago.

We spoke of many things but I was interested to hear that learning the English language was the hard part because it is filled with adverbs, adjectives and the like.

She said words that sound the same but mean something different.

This was so interesting to hear coming from a woman who was highly educated in her country; a teacher.

I so enjoyed our conversation ….

I must run to catch my ride (before they leave the house …. they won’t leave without me.).

What a glorious ride home.

I am so blessed to met some incredible people and listen to their stories.

The little boy sat in the stroller meticulously eating MacDonald’s french fries with ketchup and with the other hand some ice cream.

His mother explained he does not like the meat and bun and just throws it.

Okay time to go.

Special Hello to: all those people who leave their countries for new beginnings elsewhere.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 15th day of August, 2014.

Wow, yesterday it was August 1st and then it was my birthday and now it is the 15th.

How crazy is that time seems to go by so quickly.

I guess if it is going by quickly I must be doing something right.

If I were bored or really unhappy it would go very slowly.

Or at least that is my theory.

Today is my kid’s Friday off from their jobs …. oh, how I wished that we still had every second Friday off.

It was so nice.

Oh well ….. life goes on.

On the up side when I have to catch the bus now that I start at “8:30” – I won’t have to catch the 6:00 a.m. one or earlier……

We are having an office “barbecue” today at noon followed by some fun.

Then tonight I work at the store.

I haven’t been there for almost two weeks as I took last weekend off while I was on vacation from the office.

So will be nice to see my friends again …..

The sky seems overcast …..

It is definitely a bit cooler out there this morning which will make for a comfortable bus ride to work.

I hope that you all have an amazing Friday.

Just remember whatever you are doing whether it be your dream job or something that you tolerate because it pays the bills and you have not as yet found your dream job ….. have FUN.

Everyday throw caution to the wind and be silly.

Life is so much better when you are having fun.

Crack a joke …. make a funny face ……. watch a stand up routine …..

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings that are just getting by …… get out there and find your passion ….. dream ……. go for it.

Always, Carol and Alvin
