Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

August 2nd, 2020 and a beautiful morning.

We were first up at 5:00 and Alvin had his breakfast.

Then back to the sofa for some extra zzz’s.

It was so hot in the house yesterday that I was really wishing that I had the A/C working.

But we made it through with the help of some electric fans.

I had the windows open with a breeze coming in earlier and have already started the fans.

I can only imagine what our electric bill will be next time.

We slept until 7:00 and then were up and got ready to go for our first walk in over a week.

One of neighbour’s down the street, Norbert was already out trimming his hedge that lines the sidewalk before their fence wraps around the yard.

They are on the corner lot and have a huge yard.

All of the neighbours are envious of their beautiful yard and flowers and the trees.

They truly have one of the most glorious yards.

We stopped and chatted of course and when I said that Alvin has a pulled muscle in his neck, he thought something must be wrong as they had not seen us out walking.

We walk like clock work unless one of us cannot.

After catching up we were on our way.

One of the people down the street from us had not cut his grass at all this summer.

I was surprised to see it finally cut.

Norbert said he had three people out cutting the grass.

Now that person is in half of a duplex so the front yard is not huge and likely the back was in as bad shape as the front.

So I could see multiple people.

It looks like a real bad haircut.

On the upside, the weeds are cut down.

Hopefully he keeps it cut.

Another neighbour, in fact, a young woman had some work done in the front yard.

She added some shrubs and some beautiful little solar lights and wood chips in the front lining the sidewalk from her house to the street.

Looks so good.

Man, so many changes since we were out last walking.

I miss seeing everyone’s flowers and chatting with folks.

We saw a couple sitting on their front porch enjoying “breakfast,” I would assume.

Although this morning Norbert was the only person we knew out.

There were a couple out for a morning run and then on the way home, a lady was out for a morning stroll.

Funny story, while we were out, we or actually I noticed this squirrel with a white belly on these huge rocks in the front yard of a neighbours a few blocks away from our house.

The squirrel was sitting and then would run a bit and then stop and then I noticed there were two black cats watching him with anticipation of what …. well who knows.

Likely not good.

They were on long leashes out enjoying the cool morning air.

So no immediate danger to the squirrel.

But I noticed the squirrel and the cats noticed the squirrel but not Mr. Alvin.

He was just sniffing away.

We had the best walk.

Enjoying the sights and smells of the flowers along the way.

Well I am going to make pancakes for breakfast before the heat really sets in for the day.

I guess this is going to be an easy not much going on kind on day.

But later our friend Alison is dropping off puppy Bailey for a couple of hours as she has an outing.

Bailey is busy so I will be busy.

I have some craft projects that I am working on so that will keep me busy for the day.

Something not requiring a lot of running about.

Well time to get this day underway ….. well to have coffee and breakfast.

I hope that you are keeping cool and enjoying your weekend.

We are so grateful to be feeling well and for the walk, it was absolutely glorious.

Another hot one on the way, 30 degrees celsius.

Then tomorrow 23 or 24 degrees celsius.

That will feel cold, wild laughter !!

Living my life with kindness and respect for all.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Mr. Alvin and Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 20th day of September, 2016.

In just a few minutes my daughter, son-in-law and Sir. Elton will be arriving.

Elton is spending the day with me Alvin and I have a car ride to work.

Lucky for all of us.

Alvin is excited to have the company for sure.

His eyes lit up when I mentioned that Elton was coming over.

I am so happy that he has some company once each week.

I feel bad that he spends most of his days alone.

I cannot imagine.

But today is a good day for him.

Makes me feel better as well.

Our mornings are getting cooler.

Soon I will go outside in the morning and my flowers will have passed for the season.

I am so happy that they have lasted this long.

This is my favourite time of year, I think I may have mentioned that before in passing!!

The colours are vibrant and rich.

The yellows, oranges and reds.

Varying degrees of natural beauty.

Perhaps it might be a good idea to check out the long range forecast so that I can figure when a good time to put away the deck furniture.

I started the clean up process of plants.

Soon I will have to trim back the bushes.

They look so amazing at the moment.

Fall is such an amazing time of year.

Feels more relaxing and calm.

Well almost time to finish here as my ride and Alvin’s company will be arriving.

Have to be ready.

I wish you the happiest of Tuesdays.

Enjoy your day.

Special Hello to:  my sister “C”

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 16th day of August, 2016.

Another gorgeous morning – a bit cooler – so refreshing.

The sun is coming up in the east as it always does.

Last night it was hot, muggy and there were mosquitoes so we opted to hang out in the yard.

We, Alvin and I snapped some photos and watered flowers.

Here are some shots that we took last night.

The second photo of Alvin should read: “Really, Momma enough already.”

Who knew roses again!

They are the most delicate pink and so pretty again.

There are photos of my back shrub/rose garden and deck.

There are photos of the front yard freshly mowed thanks to my neighbour “S.”

Photos of my front flower bed which I have dubbed “The English Canadian Garden.”

Without my friend who has the most beautiful which I call English Garden it would only be a flower garden.

Just thought I would share.

Chicks & Hens

Impatiens to name a few.

Also two of the shrubs are from another friend of mine down the street.

So my garden is truly a community affair.

Well time to get this show on the road.

I hope you enjoy some colour in my blog ….. beautiful colours.

A fond reminder to stop and enjoy all the bounty that nature supplies to us.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello: my gardener friends …. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 4th day of June, 2015

You will never guess what I saw in the sky at 5:15 this morning!

Something so beautiful and unexpected.

So much so that I ran and grabbed my camera.

Well it was a RAINBOW.

There were clouds and a rainbow on the south side of my house.

There was sunshine at the north end.

Funny how that works.

Followed by a few drops of rain and quite warm out for this time of day.

What a wonderful way to begin the day with seeing a rainbow.

Last night after I set the sprinkler to water the front lawn; Alvin and I set out for a walk.

We got to the corner and Alvin spotted our friend “I” out trimming one of her bushes.

So he pulled toward her but I held him back as we had to cross the street first and watch for traffic.

After a check for cars we made a beeline for her house.

Needless to say a few minutes later we were chatting on her front porch steps joined by her husband.

They both love Alvin and do not miss an opportunity to visit him, and me, of course.

Giggling out loud on this end.

Over half a hour later we left to have a quick walk before returning home to turn off the sprinkler.

Needless to say the ground was quite wet.

It got a good soaking.

Oh, my social butterfly …….

Well looks like an “umbrellie” is in store for today ….

So I had better get this show on the road.

I hope that you have a great day.

I wish you rainbows and sunshine.

I wish you love and laughter.

Have a great Thursday.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” ….. so great to reconnect after so many years.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 19th day of October, 2014.

It is another gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

The temperature here yesterday was 21 degrees celsius ….

Isn’t that crazy?

We were so grateful for the nice weather.

Well another day at the store.

I am excited because it is Sunday and I love Sundays.

Yesterday was great for another reason more good news about my nephew; he opened his eyes for a longer period of time.

That is definitely  good/great/fantastic/……. news.

So glad that is is on the mend ….

It will be a long recovery but that is okay.

Yesterday I raked the front lawn yet again …. so many leaves.

The colours were amazing.

They seem to get blown from all up and down our street.

It looks like most people are waiting until the trees are bare before raking.

Me, I have rakes three times.

It is good exercise and fun to crunch the leaves.

Also trimmed my front bushes.

So nice to be working outside on such a gorgeous day.

Afterwards I put in a five hour shift at the store.

So busy day.

Well almost time to leave again.

I hope that you have a great Sunday.

It will be whatever you wish it to be.

Parking stalls and all.

Special Hello to: family ….. hello….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 19th day of November, 2013.

I think it is going to be the winter of SO MUCH snow.

We almost had sunshine for a bit earlier yesterday,  and then it started to snow once again.

More shovelling.

On the up side I should have nice tone to my arms come March.

My poor Alvin got the short end of the stick as we did not go for a walk for the second day in a row.

He does love the snow.

Once he was finished with supper last night he decided to jump through the snow in the backyard into the shrub garden.

He loves to walk around the bushes and sniff about.

I am not sure what he is sniffing but he loves it.

I love watching him.

Even his sister got into the action on the weekend as she snapped a couple of photos of him out in the snow.

He loves getting his nose covered in snow.

I am so happy that almost 3 years and 10 months ago he came into my life.

Once we got passed that first 60 days we were rolling in glory.

We are inseparable.

If I am on the computer he lies on the carpet outside the office door.

If I am shovelling out front and he is in the house – he watches from his second favourite chair.

If I am shovelling out back – he is with me.

Wherever I go – he goes.

Pretty much anyway …. not to work, though.

I wouldn’t be able to concentrate if he were there nor would anyone else.

He is Mr. Cuteness …. that is my nickname for him.

Sometimes “Al” …. depends.

I hope that you have someone in your life to share your days and nights …

Whether it be two legged or four or perhaps both.

That would be nice.

But until that happens … I have my four legged guy ….

Have a great day.

Be happy and remember to be still.

Be safe ….

Special Hello to: YOU ALL after all there wouldn’t be me without you.

Always, Carol and Alvin
