Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 26th day of June, 2017.

Cooled off overnight and sky is a bit overcast this morning.

Grateful for the breezes.

What an awesome weekend.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walks.

We even had two walks yesterday.

We worked and we played, does not get better than that.

My neighbour gave me:  patio set with umbrella and four chairs, garden hose and hand sprinkler (which I really really needed), small food processor (which is great because I lent my big one to my kids), two cookbooks, cast iron casserole dish with lid for the oven, Magic Bullet with all the attachments (now I have two which I love), Pampered Chef newer version of the chopper that I use for garlic.  How lucky am I?

Definitely was blessed this weekend.

Coming up weekend is Canada Day.

We celebrate our 150th Birthday this July 1st, 2017 – which is Saturday.

I remember Canada’s 100th Birthday back on July 1st, 1967.

We even had a song written to celebrate Canada’s 100th Birthday.

It was great as I was school age back then.

Looking forward to watching some festivities on television and looking to the sky for the fireworks.

It is a reminder on how blessed we are to live in such a great country.

We should never take it for granted.

I always try to give back to the country that has given me life …. a great place to be born and to live.

Well here we go again another work week.

Promises to be great.

Special Hello to: my sister …. getting closer to your visit.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday, July 1st, 2016.

Happy Canada Day.

This morning the sun is shining brightly and there is a coolness to the breeze that is blowing in through the office window.

Canada Day is on a Friday this year which makes for a nice long weekend.

Me and Alvin are just going to lounge and enjoy the day and evening.

I might do a few things around the house but today will be a fun day.

After all we are celebrating CANADA on this day.

Memories linger in my mind of all the places that I have visited in Canada and to all of the others places I wish to visit someday.

We truly have a beautiful place on this planet.

I was curious what Canada Day was like last year and here is my post from last Canada Day.

*****************************************************************************************

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 1st day of July, 2015.

Today also is the day that we Canadians celebrate “CANADA” …..

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians.

I am so grateful to live in such a beautiful, wondrous country.

From coast to coast …. the prairies and the mountains and all in between.

I see new photos everyday that remind me of the beauty.

I am grateful to live in a country that is free.

I am grateful that I have choices, and can make my own decisions.

Just on my way out the door to go, and have coffee with my neighbour.

I hope that you have a great day.

It is overcast and raining off and on here in Edmonton but we need the rain, so no complaints.

Happy Canada Day…..

**********************************************************************************************

I smell coffee in my near future.

Time to turn it on ….. relax on the deck and drink in the sunshine.

Special Hello to: all of my family and friends.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 30th and last day of June, 2016.

The end of the first half of 2016.

Where did it go?

Did you accomplish what you set out to do?

Did you set goals?

Did you just enjoy the first six months and not worry about goals and such?

We all do things differently.

You might set short term goals of things to do in a short period of time.

No matter what course of action or inaction might have been we are heading into July.

I usually do small chunks of goals and mainly they revolve around finances.

I guess that might be par for the course.

In this economy or any economy finances are important.

Some months are easier than others for sure.

That can be held true for most of us these days.

But at the end of it all it has been a great first half of 2016.

We did suffer a loss in our family and some near misses.

But we know that life goes on and you must, too.

I am looking forward to July, August, September, October, November and DECEMBER.

We are fast approaching my favourite part of the year.

Any clues there ……

Well I decided as I just could not haul my “fanny farkle” off the sofa this morning after firstly rising with Alvin at 4:30 a.m. that I would just take the later bus.

I still arrive at work on time just not ultra early but I am okay with it for today.

Next week will be off to a fresh start.

Hard to change your schedule overnight ….. it is.

Well tomorrow we celebrate CANADA DAY, the 1st day of July.

There will be fireworks for sure.

Alvin and I will enjoy the day together.

On this beautiful (already 18 degress celsius) morning ….. I am so happy.

Have a great Thursday wherever you are and whatever you are doing …. just be joyful.

Feeling badly really does not help ….. I understand…..totally.

Special Hello:  to my friend “V” who might be coming for a visit ….. sure hope so.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S.  my “leader” for the Heart & Stroke Campaign picked up my packets last night.  I am proud to say I collected $85.00.  Pretty good for this economy.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 30th day of June, 2015.

Wow, the last day of June ….. officially summer now for almost ten days.

That has gone by quickly.

It has been raining here since yesterday afternoon.

It was a wet walk home after work even with an umbrella.

I never mind getting wet on the way home …..

Came home to my “Steeped Tea Party” delivery.

Three boxes of tea and accessories.

I worked on separating and packing the orders from the time I got home until 10:30 a.m.

There still are three orders to finish.

Had to get to bed.

I have never seen so much tea in my life.

Well today is my last day this work week.

I am so excited to have some days off.

Spend some quality time with Mr. Alvin.

It was a good thing that we got up extra early …. correction good thing I stayed up yesterday morning as we had our walk in the early morning hours before all of this rain.

Alvin does not so much enjoy being out in the rain.

That is always evident when it is time to out to do his business.

But his Momma always encourages him and waits at the door with his towel to dry his paws.

Well almost time to leave …. lucky to catch a ride with my neighbour.

Lugging a big bag to work would be difficult.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: all those tea drinkers out there …. try Steeped Tea …. it is awesome…..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 27th day of June, 2015.

It is already very warm …. bordering on hot already and not quite 10:00 a.m.

Alvin and I left for a walk about 9:30 a.m. and cut it short because it was already warmer than the weather channel is posting at this time.

Back home closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning.

I am so so grateful to have central air.

It definitely ranks in my top ten of things I hold in high gratitude.

Tomorrow is to be 36 with the humidity.

At the moment there is a slight breeze and it bright clear sunny skies.

Well today is going to be a quiet day.

I have a few things that have to be done and other than that …. quiet …..

Regardless of a/c the heat just does me in …..

Poor Mr. Alvin needs a hair cut …. top of my list when I have a few days off from work after Canada Day next week.

Today I am wishing that wherever you are that you are not too hot or not too cold.

That you are safe from others and the elements.

That you have enough to eat.

That you are surrounded by love and laughter.

That you have and show respect for yourself and for others.

Happy Happy Saturday.

I am also very grateful to be visiting with some of my family tomorrow.

YAY.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. only one more sleep.  I hope that Canmore is not too hot today.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 2nd day of July, 2014.

Another gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

I had a great long weekend and trust you did as well.

Alvin and I are settling into our new bedroom.

The store was slow with a few bursts of customers.

So I would like to think that people were out enjoying the beautiful day and all of the Canada Day celebrations.

I love watching Alvin as he looks out of our bedroom window.

He can now stand on the bed and look out.

So sometimes he rest his “chin” on the window ledge.

Sometimes he jumps up on his hind legs and rests his front paws on the window ledge.

He definitely likes to see what is going on in the neighbourhood.

He is my neighbourhood “watch dog.”

Nothing gets by him.

Looks like neighbours are back home from the long weekend.

I see trailers back in their spots.

So on this beautiful Wednesday morning, I am so grateful for Alvin, all of my family and friends.

Grateful for the sunshine.

I wish you all a happy day.

Take care.

Special Hello to: Hi sister ….. guess we are playing tag…… I worked yesterday …… talk to you soon…

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to 1st day of July, 2014.

Today we Canadians celebrate “CANADA DAY.”

                         ” CANADA”

TO BE BORN CANADIAN IS A HONOUR.

TO LIVE IN CANADA IS A BLESSING.

TO BE CANADIAN IS AMAZING.

WE ALL TO OFTEN FORGET THAT BEING A CANADIAN MEANS WE HAVE A LOT OF FREEDOMS.

WE LIVE IN A PEACE LOVING NATION.

WE HAVE FREEDOM OF CHOICE.

WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION.

WE HAVE FREEDOM OF RELIGION.

WE CAN CELEBRATE OUR HERITAGE IN A COUNTRY THAT ENCOMPASSES ALL PEOPLES FROM EVERY CORNER OF THIS PLANET.

WE TRULY CARE ABOUT ONE AND ANOTHER.

CANADA IS BEAUTIFUL IN IT’S LANDSCAPES AND VISTAS.

CANADA IS FULL OF HOPES AND DREAMS.

CANADA IS THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE ON THE PLANET.

MY HOPE THAT EVERYONE WHO WAS BORN HERE OR COMES HERE APPRECIATES HOW LUCKY WE ARE TO HAVE CANADA AS OUR HOME.

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE.

C Lewis, July 1st, 2014 …..

TODAY:

We slept in this morning.

Last night after we went to bed some of our neighbours set off fireworks.

I guess they were starting early.

It is against the law to set off fireworks in a residential area (I am pretty sure).

Thank goodness part way through there was a downpour so any sparks would have been extinguished.

This morning with the bright sunshine and breeze I decided just after me and Alvin got up that we should go for a nice long walk.

I hadn’t realized before hand just how hot and muggy it is already …… so alas bad “Momma” did not take water.

Another lesson learned.

We had a great walk ….. saw lots of Canadian Flags displayed in yards …. which was great.

Lots of robins, ducks and ducklings, joggers and flowers.

It was fantastic.

Alvin seems to be feeling better now.

I heard somewhere to cool them down dampen a cloth with cool water and hold it by their hind quarters …. which I did ….. seemed to help.

Also I have air conditioning so that is amazing and I so appreciate it.

Time to have a shower and work on the wedding jewellery before going to work at the store.

Happy Canada Day.

Special Hello to: my sister …… wherever you are??  …….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 29th day of June, 2014.

Wow, two days left in June ……

Then Canada Day ……

It has been a very rewarding weekend thus far.

Considering I spent 3.5 days last week with dental issues, I am happy to say all is well.

Me and Alvin moved our bed from the master bedroom to the office.

My daughter, son-in-law and grand-puppies are moving in with us in July.

They are building a new house and their current home has sold.

We are very excited.

I gladly, gave up the master bedroom to have them move in with us.

It will be wonderful having someone other than Alvin to talk to ….. although he is great company …. not much of a “talker.”

Anyway, we have our bed, night stand and computer …… don’t need more than that.

I feel like a little kid ….. so excited to have a “new room.”  ……

I want to hang up some pictures etc on the walls.

I moved all of my book cases and books and odds and ends to the guest bedroom …..

It looks actually quite nice and I was pleasantly surprised that they all fit and it looks great.

I will share photos later ….. just getting ready to go to work at the store.

I have decided to have a garage sale in a couple of weeks.

Give and sell things.

I have so much and I feel like downsizing ……

Mr. Alvin seems to have settled in as he is standing up on his hind legs looking out the window.  (on the bed which is close to the window).

Last night he wasn’t sure …..

When we went to bed …. he went into the master first and then when I said “to bed” ….. he seemed to understand.

We are happy ….. I am truly so excited to have them with us.

I am grateful that I have the room/space for them to live with us.

How very cool.

They are the best kids and so good to me and Alvin ……

Canada Day, I am working at the store which is cool ….. so anyone shopping I can “wish them a Happy Canada Day.”

It is overcast and windy at the moment.

Mr. Sun is trying to come out from behind the clouds.

I think Alvin really like the new bedroom ……. some new views for him to look at …..

Last night I baked a rhubarb (from my friend) and apple (from my brother) crisp and also tried a new recipe from my friend, Val – a rhubarb (threw in a few apples) upside down cake.

Between the moving upstairs, some cleaning and laundry ….. baking down at 11:00 p.m.

Nothing like baking and then going to bed ….. the house smells amazing.

Well I hope you all have a great Sunday.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing – play and work safe.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello: to my cousin “J” …… thank you.  I am feeling much better now that I got my “mouth” tended to and also getting the bed and stuff moved.  Haven’t tasted the crisp but I added brown sugar …. smells amazing.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 27th day of June, 2014.

Bright, sunny with a bit of a breeze, the perfect morning.

Well I am on my way to the dentist for a checkup.

Reminder to all, do not put off going to the dentist because you are busy at work.

Your health is more important.

My daughter will come over in a little bit to pick up Mr. Alvin and he will spend the day and overnight with them.

He loves to visit.

We had a glorious walk last night …..

Oh my goodness …. the ROSES were so heavy on the branches ….. that they were leaning onto the ground.

So pretty ….. the pinks and the SMELL …… heavenly.

I wish that they could bottle that fragrance.

It would sell a billion bottles for sure.

Well time to get this show on the road.

With this being the long weekend – the roads will be busy.

So drive carefully.

Enjoy.

Catch up with you tomorrow.

Have a great Friday.

Special Hello to: my sister …… SKYPE this weekend?  I should be home all day tomorrow.

Always, Carol and Alvin
