It is a NEW YEAR.

Well it is Friday, end of the first week back in our old newly renovated office space.

I must say I really like my workspace.

The noise level can sometimes be a major distraction but perhaps in time they will add some paintings or something to the walls to help absorb the sound.

Otherwise so far so good.

Last night we went for a walk but only as far as the park and Alvin turned back (there was no changing his mind).

I found a bit of bile on the main floor; so he definitely had an upset tummy and gas.

I noticed he has had gas for the past couple of days.

So back to only his food, his biscuits from the vet and only small amount of banana and perhaps carrots in the evenings.

No other treats.

I think sometimes it can be too much for the “old” guy.

But this morning all seems well.

I think that excess gas is an age thing.

I will admit that I suffer from “gas attacks” from time to time, okay more often than that.

LOL.

What can I say?

Alvin is resting on his blue blanket beside my computer chair.

He is always in a hurry to lay down on his blanket.

We have a routine.

That routine will be disrupted this weekend as tomorrow the Teddy and his little sister Kobi arrive.

They will be with us until next Saturday when their Aunt J arrives home from Mexico.

I am excited to visit with Aunt J and catch up.

We always have good visits and suppers together.

Tonight my daughter is picking me up from work.

I always cherish our time together.

Post from January 25, 2011.

How long is winter?

I had been asking myself that very question up until the past few days.

It feels like spring outside.

The sun is shining …… I can see and hear the snow melting from the roof …… hip hip hooray !!!

It has been so great that Alvin and I have been going out for walks everyday.

Life is always …. BETTER ….. MORE GREAT – when the sun shines and the snow is melting…..

Have a blessed day….

Always, Carol

In January of 2011, I was still a “retired” individual.

Home with Alvin.

A few months later our lives would change again when I went back to work.

For several years I worked two jobs.

Now just one.

I was going to post a random day from years ago and found just a short little post with my logo.

Strange how today the weather is similar, almost ten years later.

Well almost time to head on downstairs.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Happy Friday.

Be Kind and Respectful to yourself and spread that to all you meet (all).

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 8th day of July, 2017.

Another hot day on the way.

Nice to have warm weather but not good for energy levels.

Last night Alvin and I were invited to one of my neighbours for the evening.

We sat outside in their gorgeous back yard.

Alvin ran, jumped, rolled in the grass and barked with delight and a bit of anxiety.

My friend said it was all too much for him.

But after awhile he settled down and we all enjoyed the time together.

We sat on their covered swing which fit me, my friend and Mr. Alvin.

He would jump up (when it was swinging) and we would chat and just relax.

After we were there for awhile – Alvin he jumped up and snuggled next to my friend.

Oh, I loved that ….

There was a beautiful breeze and it was wonderful.

She treated me with lemon pie and lemonade which was delicious and Alvin with carrots.

Alvin drank the whole bottle of water that I had brought with us.

We were talking about the heat and air conditioning and such.

She loaned me a fan which because I have central air – I did not own.

So last night we were comfortable with windows open and the fan blowing.

Isn’t it funny how whenever we need something it has a way of showing up.

Also to note that when we were first up this morning at 4:30 it was raining……

I felt like standing outside in the rain but as I had a nightgown on – decided against it.

Now I wished that I had …..

Well time to get going …. lots to do before it gets too hot.

Thankfully we have a fan to keep us cool.

I have the best friends, I would say.

Have an awesome Saturday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Who knew – ground flaxseed and stuff.

I was reading a book on eating healthy and came across some valuable information.  As I am a giving person, I wanted to share this with all of you.  Ground flaxseed, two tablespoons daily will help keep you regular.  If you are having issues with that aspect of your daily regime give it a shot, also is good to help you lose weight.  I have read this in several places that studies have shown that anywhere from 5 to 25 pounds of waste can be retained in the colon.  Now isn’t that a dreadful thought.  No wonder we have a tough time losing those last few pounds.  So I am going to pick up some ground flaxseed, and give it a try.  I will keep you posted.

Now that I have made yet another lifestyle change …… (no dairy, no meat and no fish)……. am working on the no sugar as well.  I do feel better and have lost some weight.  This past winter (quit smoking last November) saw a few pounds find their way onto my body.  I know this because when I went to wear some of my summer clothes, arg they did not FIT.  But I am pleased to say that they do now.  Perhaps a bit more snug than I would like but the pounds are coming off.  I find walking Alvin twice a day for 40 minutes each time doesn’t hurt.

Okay, perhaps I got sidetracked ….. didn’t this start out with “ground flaxseed”.  LOL.  I have found once you hit fifty – it is even easier to get sidetracked.  Although I think that my kids would tell you that I have been getting “sidetracked” for some time now.  LOL.  Isn’t life grand?

I have found some wonderful plant based recipes and will share them with you.

I might have mentioned this before but I have a doggie that loves veggies especially “carrots”, “broccoli” and “cauliflower” and we share an apple at noon.

Have a great day everyone!

Alvin and his new “treat”

Al, loves his treats.  LOL.  Actually he seems to love food period.  Oh, by the way, because Alvin and Elton (grand-puppy) are so similar with their names, and because I am always calling Elton – Alvin and vice versa; I decided to shorten Alvin’s name to just AL.  It really does suit him.  Okay, back to the story.  See how easy it is to get side-tracked.  Cannot blame on age, as I have always been like this…..  just detail oriented.  LOL

As I believe that I have mentioned before, Al has a passion for carrots and broccoli.  Al’s groomer made the comment that her dogs love strawberries and apples. So last night, I tried the strawberries.  He wasn’t quite sure at first.  I think it was the consistency. But he ate them all the same.  At  noon today, I was having an apple, and decided to cut  it into pieces to see if he liked it.   Well it ended up that he probably ate close to half of the apple.  Found out that he LOVES apples.  I think it is the crunch factor.  He likes food that makes a noise.  So as much as the cheese, strawberry and banana (yes, bananas) were good – I think he simply prefers foods that make a NOISE.

Oh, I did try just a bit of cheese.  He likes it, of course. but doesn’t everyone?  Not something that I would give him a lot of though.

He does get GAS……. yes he does.  LOL.  So funny, the first time.  Phew.

Oh, the sky is clearing.  YAY.  Nice to have the sun shining but it was nice to have a rain shower as well.  Al, is napping on his blue blanket beside my chair.  All is well with the world.  I am one happy, happy Mother.  Maybe Mom sounds better !!!
