Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

What a beautiful Friday morning.

The sun is shining and there is a cool breeze.

Catching the bus to work today so the walk to the bus will be glorious.

Quick story.

Last night after work Alvin and I joined our friend for a walk.

We chatted as we walked along.

When we reached the larger pond/lake to the north of us; we spotted on the path, the flock of geese from our ponds.

Yes, they are our geese.

They were just hanging out on the sidewalk and grassy area.

We walked the other direction so as not to disturb them.

They did not move as single persons walked by them.

No hissing or any movement, really.

Surprised that they are so “tame” but not really.

Not really a good thing for a wild creature.

We chatted as we walked.

Alvin did the sniffing.

As we walked along and looked back over the pond/lake we saw that they had gone to the water.

The large gaggle of geese were swimming at the far end.

On our way home on the pathway just down from where we originally saw the flock … we spotted one lone young one.

Definitely got separated from his family.

We carefully and quietly walked closer.

We watched and kind of herded him to safety.

Which meant down the sidewalk and across a busy street to OUR pond/park.

We did not wish that he would get scared and accidently walk onto the busy street.

My friend was on one side and we on the other.

Alvin was so good.

No barking or anything.

We stopped traffic to cross the street.

Me, Alvin, my friend and a young goose.

What a cute sight.

Only wished that I had my phone with me to take photos.

When we were across the street and we were parting ways.

I heard a noise and looked back to see the flock coming down the busy street.

They had cars stopped all over the place.

I could tell people were anxious.

Also by that time a woman and two small dogs came along going to cross there and we asked that she wait.

So patiently everyone waited …

When the geese got to the next street to cross …. Alvin and I blocked off the street on one side so that they would cross.

That way if anyone came … they would STOP.

I am happy to say that ALL the geese got home safely.

Did you know that they lose their flight feather in the spring/summer and that is why they do not fly.

I guess it is so that they will not fly away on their offspring OR perhaps because they have to eat lots for the journey in the fall.

Anyway it was quite the adventure.

Most fun walk ever.

The young goose …. well he was reunited with his family.

HAPPY ENDING.

Love those stories.

Well time to get Mr. Alvin outside …. for one last bathroom trip.

Then will have to take off for the bus.

SEE what kindness and respect do ….

Applies to geese as well.

We treated them with kindness and respect.

Happy ending….

Happy Friday.

Weekend here we come.

My daughter is giving me a ride home from work.

YAY.

Living … One Day at a time.

Hello,

Wednesday morning and the sky is blue with bright sunshine.

The air is filled with the hum of cars on the nearby highway as people go to work.

Last night, Teddy’s Mom asked if he could stay with us for a few days as her two-legged son was in the hospital.

He lives several hours away and I totally understand about wanting to be with your child.

We said “yes” without hesitation.

Teddy arrived last night.

We ended up not going for a walk due to humidity and threat of storm.

So with Teddy’s arrival …. Alvin got some exercise and time outside with his friend.

I am happy that I got up when the alarm went off as with an extra body it does take longer.

The alarm these days is on my phone and it is the sound of birds chirping ….

Some mornings when we “use” the alarm I actually have to stop and think about where the sounds are coming from.

But we are almost ready.

One more trip outside after this post.

I have some photos from a few minutes ago to share.

What a great way to begin the day with these two cutie pies.

They bring me great joy there is no doubt about that ….

Teddy likes to turn down the blanket …. or rather play under it …

Acts of kindness filled with respect are always in style.

Time to fly.

We are grateful to be of help to our friends.

We are grateful for this amazing sunshine.

We are grateful for all things green.

We are grateful for our health, very important.

Most of all we are grateful for each other.

Me and Alvin…..

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 4th day of January, 2019.

Dark out as it is early.

Snow mixed with rain last night.

Cooling off a bit today.

Still crazy weather for January.

Alvin joins me in the office – laying on his blue blanket.

I feel that all is right with the world when he is near me.

Where he wants to be and where I want him to be.

Close by.

I so wished that I could take him with me to work.

Definitely would be a morale boost for certain.

He is such a good guy.

I am so happy that he has a best friend in Teddy.

Those guys …. always so excited to see each other.

Bringing each other a toy.

Truly, I have not given this much thought if any before this moment but I think that the creatures that we take into our homes – actually mimic us to a large degree.

Alvin loves company; as do I.

He is always happy when company comes over; as am I.

He loves to sniff around on our walks; as do I taking in the scents and smells of each season.

He loves to relax and snuggle next to me; as do I snuggles are best with him.

He does not like to ride in cars and I do not mind.

He is an loving, excitable, anxious creature and I wear my heart on my sleeve so definitely similar.

Perhaps when we take a look at ourselves when we work on improvements – there is even more reason to make changes as they impact our pets.

Food for thought.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Oh, once again, I love my new eyebrow wax.

I mentioned it yesterday in my post.

It is the best.

ACTI-LABS.

Special Hello to: all those folks who share their homes with a dog(s) or cat(s) or another small creature.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 2nd day of January, 2018.

There is a breeze this morning and it feels warm.

Could it be that the temperatures are warming up?

Well back to work today after a nice break.

I was wondering what my thoughts were on this date last year.

I think it still applies and of course brings us only two years from 2020 and even closer to 2025, which I think seems so futuristic.

January 2nd, 2017.

Did you wonder how 2018 was going to feel being one more year closer to 2020?

It feels so futuristic …. as though cars should be flying or at least driving without human invention.

I would have thought that we would have been further along the road to peace.

I would have thought that we would have cured every disease.

I would have thought that we would be treating other species with care, kindness and respect.

I would have thought that we would be the best planetary caretakers regarding the environment.

I would have thought that greed and power struggles would not be the underlying statement.

I would have thought that we would be further along than we are ….. disappointing, yes.

I hope that during 2018 we find it in our hearts and minds to work harder toward more safe technology and make things last longer so that the landfills and eco stations are not filled to capacity with no place to go.

I hope that during 2018 we find it in our hearts and minds to work together as a planetary collective and not as individual countries to solve all the ills of the world.

I hope that during 2018 we find it in our hearts and mind to bring peace at last to this beautiful emerald planet of ours.

I hope that during 2018 we realize that each and every living organism on this planet plays an important role in our future.

I hope that during 2018 brings stabilizing change for all of us.

I wish us all the best now and in the centuries to come.

Special Hello to: all those people who work hard every day for our future.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 13th day of October, 2017.

Well the ground is dry but there is a heavy frost on the cars.

It is that time of year.

Yesterday was cool but when the sun shone it was quiet lovely.

I love this time of year.

We were asked to watch one of our friend’s doggie for tomorrow.

I am excited and I tried to explain to Alvin and he just looked at me and turned his head this way and that.

Perhaps he understood what I was jabbering on about …..

I hope that we all have a wonderful Friday.

Remember to be kind …. on the phone ….. in person ….. in the written word.

I know that sometimes I can be less than what I want to be ….. always a work in progress.

Always learning to be better and knowing that somedays it is difficult to get to that “better place.”

Have an awesome day.

I am grateful for a good week and look forward to the weekend.

Happy Friday the 13th ……

Special Hello to: all those folks who try everyday to be better than the day before …..

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 1st day of November, 2016.

Last night was perfect for the Trick & Treaters.

We had about “98” that I could count … might have missed couple.

Sometimes there would be none and then there would be a gaggle of them.

It is always fun seeing all of the costumes.

Lots of our friends from around the neighbourhood dropped by.

Alvin and I both enjoyed seeing everyone.

He loves seeing all the kids.

Each year he settles down a bit more.

I still put his leash on because I am afraid that he would join them.

We had a few people suggest that I dress him up and we go out.

So I thought that may be a good idea.

I would do things in reverse.

With not being at home and no one to hand out treats – might as well just take a big bag of candy with us and hand it out as we walk around the

neighbourhood from house to house.

We had a good Halloween potluck at work and most everyone participated in the costume contest.

The top three were awesome:  Zombie, Broken China Doll and Three Blind Mice.

Carol’s Creepy Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies were a smash, none leftover.

It was a great Halloween.

Tonight will take down the Halloween decorations and make way for the Christmas stuff.

Oh, overnight we received some snow.

Just hanging onto the lawns, cars and buildings and the sidewalks are wet so likely icy.

Snow boots with grips today are on the menu.

I am going to leave a few minutes early.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you had a safe, happy Halloween.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Special Hello to:  all my family and friends all over the world.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 8th day of October, 2016.

Well it is official ….. or at least according to Mother Nature ….. we have SNOW.

Not just a little but a lot and it is still snowing.

Time to haul out the shovel, I suppose as I see shovelling in my near future.

I knew that I was physic.

Small giggle.

I missed a tea meeting this morning because of my cold ….. ears plugged.

Kind of worked out as it is ugly out …. windy ….. and likely slippery.

Better to stay home and get over this cold thing.

All of the cars that I can see from my office window are covered in wet snow.

I did hear through the grapevine that there is warm weather ahead ….

Perhaps they were just day dreaming.

It does not appear that it is going to be leaving anytime soon.

But you never know with Mother Nature.

So in the meantime, I am happy that I put everything away and did all of the outdoor cleaning and such.

Just spoke to my daughter and we invited us for Thanksgiving to their home (she had before); just tightened up the time.

We may even spend the night.

Well we were up later than usual this morning so better get the pedal to the medal and get a bit of work done.

Will have to save some energy for shovelling later on …… have to grab the shovels …. one for the front and one for the back.

Have to shovel for Alvin.

Also have to play find the “poop” in the snow from earlier this morning as I was too “lazy” to go outside with him.

Man, I miss summer and fall.

Winter sucks in that regard.

I also have to locate my Halloween stuff as that was one thing that I had not done outside (inside has been done for a couple of weeks).

Okay I have ranted long enough …. sorry for that.

I hope that you enjoy your weekend.

In Canada, Happy Thanksgiving weekend.

To All Others just have a great great weekend.

Special Hello to:  my friends in Saskatchewan …..we share your “pain” with the snow.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 7th day of September, 2016.

I accidentally typed 2026 and gave myself a quick start.

Can you just imagine what 2026 will be like?

Will be make even more advances in science and technology?

More than the past 50 years?

Wonder if that chip implant in our arm or hand will become a reality?

With all of our information in one place.

One quick swipe and no need for five thousand plastic cards to be in your purse or wallet.

Although I do think they could have everything on one or two cards.

Personal information on one card and financial on the other.

There would have to be some kind of security with the chip or minimum cards.

Interesting though.

They have started making cars that can drive themselves.

That is likely a good thing ….

With all of the bad drivers or more like bad habits having a “chauffeur” would be more safe.

People could then text to their hearts content.

Will they cure all man’s diseases?

Will we change?

Will we become better people, more compassionate over the next ten years.

Would a few more female heads of state make a difference?

Not sure.

Anyway food for thought.

Isn’t it funny how your thoughts can change so quickly.

I was thinking about relating a story about Alvin and his girlfriend and then I accidentally typed “2026.”

Whoops.

Alvin and Abi, a story for another day.

They are so cute.

He was playing kind of hard to get last night.

Well here we are almost time to leave for work.

I started catching an earlier bus yesterday so have to leave the house 15 minutes earlier than last week.

Kids are back to school.

The bus was jammed pack full of youngsters both on the way to work and on the way home.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Special Hello to: all those bloggers out there entertaining the world with wit, charm and information.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 31st and last day of May, 2016.

It was an interesting month.

This morning is bright and sunny …… the rain of yesterday is gone.

We are appreciating the moisture as it was badly needed.

Today marks the birthday of my friend “G” …… Happy Birthday G, me and Alvin wish you a great day.

We are celebrating her birthday with our coffee group on Saturday.

I do have a cute story to share.

Last night when Alvin and I were on the homeward stretch of our walk we could see up ahead our black/white cat friend.

I had forgot his name.

There were cars zooming by on the street.

Then I noticed this young man coming up behind the cat.

I knew the cat would likely dart out onto the street because of Alvin.

I held Alvin back and hoped that he remained quiet.

Out of the blue this young man knelt down beside the cat to keep the cat from darting out onto the street.

I was so relieved that the cat would allow him to pick him up (sometimes they do not when they are strangers).

Then he noticed us and picked up the cat.

When we were within speaking distance, I gratefully thanked the young man for saving this cat.

I knew this cat.

He lives in one of the big houses by the lake and usually he is prowling about in the trees and grassy area by the water but not this time.

I told the young man about the cat.

He carried him to the next block and then let him go toward home.

What a thoughtful and considerate young man.

I am so grateful for him and his compassion for this cat that he did not know.

It was funny when we were close and Alvin wanted to say hi, the cat hissed.

I guess cat was grateful for not sure of Alvin’s intentions.

Alvin loves cats because he was surrounded by them in his foster home and we have had/have cats close to home.

This was a happy good story to end my day.

I was so relieved and grateful.

Well here we go almost time to leave for the bus and work once again.

Where does the time go?

I hope that you have a great day.

Take a peek around and I am certain that you will have your own nice story to share.

Special Hello to:  all those folks young and old who help animals, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin
