Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Morning,

Another gorgeous morning.

The first full day of FALL.

The sun is shining and the sky is clear.

I was even out in my pj’s earlier and it was warm not cold.

No frost last night so am grateful for that.

Good combining weather.

I hope that the weather holds so that the harvest can get off.

As I am not currently able to show off some beautiful FALL photos from this year, I will share some old ones.

It feels like a photo day.

I love looking at photos.

I see a lot of photos in my future as everyday I go through the photos on my phone and computer.

These were taken a few years ago when my daughter did a photo shoot for friends.

The weather was gorgeous.

I think they were taken in September.

Just outside Edmonton at public gardens.

Leaves on my lawn ….. beautiful and crunchy to the touch

My tree

On one of our adventures in a park north of our home

Some of the beautiful colours of fall.

Well it is time for me to fly.

I apologize for the short post.

Wishing you all kindness and respect on this Wednesday and always.

Have an awesome day.

Take time to enjoy the “view.”

Living with kindness and respect.

I/We shall remain,

Always, Carol & MR. Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Wednesday Morning,

Alvin and I enjoyed another wonderful walk last night in the warm air.

So happy to see the sidewalks becoming more and more clear of ice and snow.

The moon has been glorious for the past few days.

Full, round and present.

I have seen some of the photos taken in New York City and the moon appeared to be sitting beside the city skyline of skyscrapers.

So beautiful.

The colour appeared different than it has here in Edmonton, a few thousand miles away.

2427 miles to be precise ( that is what google is for when we are not quite sure ).

My moon shots were not that great.

Perhaps if I played with the settings on my iPhone, I could have taken better shots but that is okay.

Not everyone is gifted with the eye for taking great, spectacular photos.

I am good at other things.

Like we all are ….

We all have our special gifts.

When you are having a moment and believe that you are not special, that just is not so.

Every single being on this planet, every spark of life, is special and holds a place within the biosphere we call Earth.

I know that it may be difficult some days to think in this way but we must.

No one person is any better than the next.

We all have our quirks, our desires, our ambitions, our creative energies, the way we comb our hair to the way we handle our days.

If we learn to stop, smell the roses, take the time to relax and just be.

Be well, be good within ourselves.

Perhaps maybe we may realize how special each creature is to our very existence.

I hope so anyway.

That is not to say that we all do not have those moments, oh believe, you me …. I have them.

We all do and that is part of what it is to be human.

We run the gamut of emotions.

Well it is almost time to head back downstairs to finish the “getting ready” process.

There be poop to pick up (as always), some last minute snuggles with my boy, lunch to grab out of the fridge.

The coat, the mitts, the scarf and the boots and remember to take my purse and phone.

I wish you the best of Wednesdays.

Happy Birthday to all those celebrating today.

May you be covered in eternal joy, good health and enjoy much laughter and abundance.

Days to be filled with kindness and respect.

Today will be …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

A bright sunny morning filled with beautiful blue sky.

Father’s Day today.

FATHER’S DAY

There are so many Fathers on this beautiful planet of ours.

Fathers in every city, town, village and rural community.

Some came by it naturally, biologically and others did not.

There are Fathers who teach their children good manners.

There are Fathers who play with their children.

There are Fathers who work far too hard with no time to give.

There are Fathers who never learned how to parent.

There are Fathers who came into the situation and treated those children with kindness and respect.

There are all kinds of Fathers on this planet.

Some Fathers play good role models to their nieces and nephews and friend’s children.

Some Fathers never had children but have four-legged babies.

There are all kinds out there.

We celebrate them all.

I have known a great many Dads of all types over my lifetime.

Some very good and others not.

We cannot say with all certainty as to why someone is not a good parent.

After all we cannot read their minds.

There are many reasons.

But some “Dads” take to it naturally and some do not.

Today,

On this day, we celebrate Fathers, Dads …..

For their contributions to our lives.

No matter what they gave or took away from us …. those contributions made us who we are today.

For this we, I celebrate them.

Happy Fathers Day ……

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 2nd day of December, 2018.

WOW, it seems like I went to sleep and woke up and we are already on the 2nd day of December.

Time is zipping along.

Well it appears that we have winter or at least SNOW.

The rooftops, driveways, sidewalks, decks, and lawns and all completely covered.

Yesterday my neighbour and I each shovelled out front once and you can barely tell.

I was already up and shovelled the deck this morning and put on a load of laundry and made coffee.

Feels good to get up early and have the day started at a more reasonable hour.

Not that I sleep until noon or anything but good to be up.

I changed my TO DO LIST yesterday and ended up giving Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath.

His front paws still are quite furry but I managed to snip some here and there.

He was shaking so bad with anxiety that I decided enough was enough.

No matter how comforting I tried to be.

Poor little guy.

I still was grooming him for almost three hours.

He looks his old handsome self.

I will snip with the scissors each night before bed.

Easier to get at his paws.

Well it means that Christmas CARDS are on the list today.

So happy that we got out for a walk before all of the snow.

Likely better that Alvin’s paws are not so short as they will keep his feet warm.

His jacket will be fitting better with the excess fur gone.

I liked shovelling the deck in the semi dark …. it was so quiet….only lights on at my friend who helps with the shovelling.

All the other houses that I could see where still in darkness.

Hopefully I did not wake anyone up.

I did try to be pretty quiet.

Was not 5 or 6 AM …..

Quite a lot of ice under the snow.

Well lots to do today.

I love writing up Christmas Cards for family and friends.

We picked up the photos at COSTCO on Friday.

So once all done – just have to mail them.

That will be on Thursday.

Well we heard a clatter out front and Alvin sprang to see what was the matter.

I saw snow flying.

My neighbour beat me out front.

One thing off the list ….. front walks shovelled.

Thank you my friend.

I am quite certain that there will be more shovelling in my future.

Still snowing …..

Well time to get this show on the road.

I hope that you are enjoying the weekend.

Perhaps you are shopping, decorating, baking or just resting as you are all done.

Perhaps Christmas is not your thing …. that’s okay.

Some keep it simple and others do not celebrate.

We are all different in our celebrations and traditions and that is okay.

Whatever makes you happy and keeps you in a constant state of joy.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to:  my sister …. we should SKYPE …. I miss your smiley face.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 25th day of May, 2018.

Last night just as I was arriving home it began to rain …. at some points it was a nice steady rain.

We certainly could use it and were so grateful for the moisture.

The trees and grass and plants are definitely a more vibrant green this morning.

The flowers were happy to have a rain from the heavens and not one from my watering can.

Everyone is doing a little happy dance this morning.

As I am sitting here I can feel the humidity.

You know after a shower and then you get dressed.

The air seems more humid and hot.

Even the temperature in the house had got warmer over night.

It cooled down with the rain but not for long.

Looking forward to the weekend after a shortened work week.

We have lots to do.

We are pet sitting for a friend in the neighbourhood.

A birthday party Sunday morning for one of my girl friends.

The usual watering, likely mowing grass, laundry, cleaning and on.

Perhaps we will get some more rain.

Another nice shower would be good.

Alvin and I enjoyed a lovely walk last night in the rain.

As we left the house it appeared to be snowing.

Some of the flowers off of our tree were raining down in the wind and rain.

Just a nice gentle rain with a bit of a breeze so not too many mosquitoes.

By the time I got home I was WARM as I had slipped on a jacket before leaving the house.

Mr. Alvin is snuggled up on his blue blanket on the floor beside me.

Well almost time to get this show on the road.

Nice to be Friday.

I hope that you are enjoying life.

Every moment is precious.

Every life should be treated with kindness.

Be gentle with the environment …. we do not want to leave a footprint.

Special Hello to: You …. celebrate life …. you deserve to have fun.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 13th day of May, 2018.

The sky is bright filled with the morning sunlight and there is a breeze.

Coolness filled the bedroom this morning.

Grateful for that on a day that will be very warm.

************************

Happy Mother’s Day.

We all play a role in Mother’s Day.

You may have given birth to a child.

You may have adopted a child.

You may have adopted or rescued a pup or a cat or a bird or a squirrel.

You may have given refuge to another human being.

It does not matter how or who you have given mothering to but it matters that you do.

To all those Mothers out there.

Happy Mother’s Day.

You arise early so that you can make breakfast for your charges.

You walk and talk with them.

You love them and comfort them.

You hope that they will be in good health.

You hope that they will be kind and good to themselves and to others.

You hope that their life will be abundant.

Above all else … you have faith.

So on this one day a year that is specially marked for us to celebrate our Mothers.

Let us do so.

Be creative.

Walk with them, talk with them, spend time with them.

Mothers do not WISH for you to bring them fancy jewellery, huge bouquets of flowers or dinners at a fancy restaurant.

They just want YOU.

Happy Mother’s Day.

To all the Mothers out there, the others that I know and the ones that I do not know.

You are precious.

There could not be life without you.

Happy Mother’s Day.

With Love….

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 17th day March, 2018

Happy Birthday to my friend “T” back in Regina.

Wishing her a wonderful day.

Happy St. Patty’s Day to all the IRISH and everyone who loves to join in the celebrations.

I am proud to be part IRISH.

The sky is overcast here in Edmonton.

I am watching my friend’s cat and gecko while she is curling in the gold medal curling game (local one).

This morning I spent about 20 minutes with Humphrey.

I gave him fresh food and water.

He had no interest …. only wanted to snuggle with Auntie C.

So snuggling we did.

He is such a pleasure to be around.

I came up with a new way of holding him which he loves ……

As I am not so used to cats, I picked him up carefully, and just the way he fell into my lap as I sat down – he was sitting backwards looking outwards.

I began to stroke him, and when my hands were just under his head,  he let his head rest on my hands.

He was comfortable.

We stayed in that position for fifteen minutes.

I will go and keep him company around lunch time and then after supper.

Now, our gecko friend named CINDER – well I wanted to give her some more water but she was on the plant close to the water dish so I decided not to disturb her and will do that later.

She has water so she will be okay.

Now for a late breakfast and COFFEE, need COFFEE.

Oh, I hear laundry calling my name and the floors saying “clean me.”

Never enough hours in the day.

Lots to do.

I hope that you all have a great Saturday.

May the sun shine in your heart even on a cloudy day.

Love what you do and do you what you love.

Happy Saturday.

Special Hello to: the birthday girl.  She has the best sense of humour, love our “T.”

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 27th day of June, 2016.

This morning the sun is shining brightly in the morning sky.

Today marks the 65th Birthday of my eldest first cousin on my mother’s side of the family.

Happy Birthday Cousin, we wish you the most wonderful day.

Today is the birthday of my life long friend “D” ….. she is one of two.

Happy Birthday to the twins.

Why is it that Monday mornings seem to arrive so quickly.

Not as usual but some Mondays I play beat the clock and this is one of them.

So unfortunately this will be very short.

I hope that your Monday morning did not arrive too quickly.

Wishing you all the best Monday on record.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Special Hello to: all my cousin and friends who celebrate birthdays today.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 29th day of January, 2016.

Wow, another three days and we will be putting another January to rest, to bed.

February is a great month ….. we celebrate the HEART.

What could be better than that …..

We do it in a multitude of ways ….. with flowers and chocolate.

By fundraising and canvassing for the Heart Fund.

We send cards and make up our own.

We take loved ones out for a nice meal.

But truly the best way to celebrate the HEART month is to give of yourself in a kind and loving manner.

So as we say goodbye to the first month of the New Year ….. what can we/I say?

It was one of those months and for the most part considering the New Year is supposed to be a new start and all – generally January is mixed.

Our weather has been mixed …… few cold miserable days …. many warm ones.

So on this third last day of the month perhaps if we think about the outgoing month we can help make the next one GREAT.

I am putting my THREE not so great events behind us and moving forward.

February is going to be the best one ever ….

I can feel it in my bones.

We are saying good-bye to this month with mild weather which is always a blessing.

I cannot say enough good things about my new “spikes” ….. “tires for the feet” ….. they are GREAT.

I love them ….. even the clicking sound they make when you are not walking on ice and snow.

Well almost time to get this show on the road once again.

I hope that you have an incredible FRIDAY ….. may the winds of change bring US ALL all things WONDERFUL.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. almost SKYPE time once again ….. YAY.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of October, 2015.

YAY, it is Saturday ….. WHOO HOO ……

Sun was shining and now is clouding up a bit but the temperature is warm.

It is this weekend that we celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving.

On this weekend, I am grateful to live in my neighbourhood surrounded by wonderful people; grateful for a wonderful City, Province and Country.

Grateful for my family and friends.

Grateful to live in peace.

Grateful that I have Alvin to see before I close my eyes and when I open them in the morning.

Grateful for good food and words.

Grateful for the medicines and the technologies that have got us to this place.

It is a great weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians.

May we continue to grow and prosper.

May we continue to be kind and generous, respectful and compassionate.

This is the weekend to reflect and remember how we got to this place.

To be grateful …..

Time to get this show on the road.

Lots to do ….. VOTE (advance polls), Scentsy party, Alvin’s bath, computer stuff, perhaps rake the leaves again (did yesterday, too) …… the list is much longer.

Special Hello to: family and friends, Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol and Alvin
