Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 11th day of August, 2014.

Today is the birthday of the eldest of my brothers.

Happy Birthday “J” …….

The sky is clear and the sun is starting to come up and there is a slight breeze.

Back to the office today ……

I am so grateful that I had some time off from work.

Always good to recharge one’s batteries.

The puppies will wonder today why I am leaving and the routine will begin again.

Each week since they moved in it has been different.

I know for me it takes a bit of time before I adjust to changes.

So hopefully soon everyone feels like this is home besides me and Alvin.

Alvin is definitely doing better.

He is more calm ….. other than the window ….. with Penny.

But dogs will be dogs.

I do not expect them to be quiet all of the time.

Casey went home last night so we are now back to three dogs.

Casey was visiting since last Thursday night and was here for my Birthday Weekend Celebration.

I honestly do not feel any different.

I guess that is good.

Well time to go and feed Miss Aussie as her Momma is away.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day ……

Special Hello to: all those folks celebrating a birthday, anniversary or just life.

It is all good.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 6th day of August, 2014.

Another gorgeous day ….. sun shining ……. bit of a cool breeze ….. will be hot later.

I sure love being at home.

I wished that I could have this week on an ongoing basis.

This morning slept in for a bit …… then wrote in my gratitude journal and enjoyed a glass of lemon infused water.

Followed by taking my grand-puppies for an early morning walk so that they would not get hot.

Alvin and I went for a lovely walk before going to bed so fair is fair, right.

So now everyone has had exercise within the last 12 hours.

Last night my friend “G” called to say that she had to drop something off for me.

Okay, I said.

She brought me an early birthday card and a gift card to Cineplex.

Two of my friends from Bath & Body Works are taking me for supper and to a movie afterwards.

I mentioned to my friend that I would like to treat them because they are young and going to post secondary school ….. working part-time.

So what does she do gives me a huge gift card so that I can now pay for the movie.

Now don’t I have a great friend.

Yesterday in the mail I received a birthday card from my Aunt “L” and Uncle “R” ….. she always remembers.

I am so grateful.

Tonight I was invited to a neighbour’s for tea in their beautiful back yard.

I am so blessed.

I have been following the “Birthday Week” of a fellow August 9th birth and that is Hoda Kotb.

Now she is a bit younger as she turns “50” on Saturday and I turn “57” ….. how cool.

Then a week later Kathie Lee Gifford and her husband Frank celebrate.

I really enjoy the Today Show ….. my favourite talk show…..

Their sense of humour ….. their chit chat ….. even though most of it is scripted …… their guests.

How they get along.

So only three sleeps until the big “57” …… or “%&” ….. depending on which keys you hit.

I am so grateful to be here and turning 57.

I am so grateful for being in great health.

I am so grateful to be surrounded by the most amazing friends and family.

I am so grateful to have my own home.

I am so grateful to have me Alvin …..

I am so grateful to have the best daughter, son-in-law and grand-puppies.

I am very grateful for this life ….. my life.

I hope that you all have an amazing Wednesday ….

Whether at home, at work or on vacation ….. enjoy …… every moment counts.

Special Hello to: my friends and family for making this truly the best birthday yet and it hasn’t even arrived.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and welcome to Friday the 4th day of July, 2014.

Happy 4th of July to all our American (United States) friends and neighbours to the south.

I wish you all a happy, safe celebration.

To all those folks south of us who are in the midst of fires and floods and other storms, our hearts go out to you.

This morning here in Edmonton the sun is shining.

I hope that our neighbours to the east in Saskatchewan and Manitoba also have sunshine so that it can start the drying out process.

Keep safe and dry.

Always in the midst of tragedy there is cause to celebrate.

In Canada just a few days ago we celebrated the birthday of our great country.

Now the United States celebrates their birthday.

We are grateful to live on this North American continent in each of these great countries.

We hope that you all have a great Friday wherever you live.

Take care and peace be with you all.

Special Hello to: our friends in the United States ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of September, 2013 and the FIRST DAY OF FALL.

This is my absolute favourite time of year.

The sun is shining and although I do not hear them I am sure a bird is singing somewhere.

The leaves are turning the most delicious shades of yellow and red.

Mixed in with the green they bright a palette of colour that is too beautiful for words.

The grass is still green here and surprisingly enough most of the flowers are still blooming as we enter the last bit of September.

I would love for us to have a long warm lazy autumn, fall.

It is the best time of year.

With warm days and cooling as the sun goes down making sleep comfortable.

Making walks extra wonderful.

Even though I am on my way to work at the store I will enjoy this first day of fall.

I hope that you are enjoying this day, too.

May your life be beautiful.

May you have an opportunity to spend time with your family as I did this weekend.

Me and my three siblings spent some more than amazing time together.

We told stories (some each other didn’t know or remember), we laughed till we cried.

I love my brothers and sister so much.

I am so happy that we were able to spend this weekend together.

I hope that we are able to spend more time together as the time goes on.

Over the years sometimes it was long stretches in between our visits but in our hearts we are always together, laughing and having fun.

Today is a day of celebration.

Celebrate with the ones you love.

Special Hello to: my sister “C” and my brothers “J” and “T” ….. you rock and I will always love you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. just heard some birds ….. yay.

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday which is the 8th of March, 2013.

I believe that today is the celebration of WOMEN worldwide.

So for all the Mothers, Grandmothers, Sisters, Daughters, Aunts, Nieces, Great-Nieces and Friends out there – YOU ROCK.

We are all amazing, worthy and deserving.

So take the time on this Friday to celebrate the special women in your life.

Tell them THANK YOU.

Manners are beginning to become a lost art form just as is handwriting.

So on this very special day ….. in honour of my Grandmother who was instrumental in teaching me one of the most important things in life that you would ever learn … “MANNERS” ….

She was so right.

I in turn passed them onto my daughter and any other child that comes within my reach.

So to my sister “thank you for always being my rock” and listening.

To my daughter “one of the kindest and most gentle people on the planet” … I am so proud of you.

To my nieces “thank you for being such great girls ….. loving, kind and so smart”…..

To my Aunt L thank you for always remembering me, us.

There are so many women in my life that have made a huge impact that I am not able to write them all down in the timeframe ahead of me.

Also to Mrs. Taylor – my first grade teacher – she was so great.

Also to Mrs. Callfas … my best friend’s Mom and also one of my elementary school teachers …. so kind and wonderful and firm….such great memories.

Happy Friday LADIES.

Special Hello: to WOMEN.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Hey it is Friday ……. wow where did the week go.

I am finishing up the last day of my first week  of my new full-time job.

I love it …. people are wonderful (truly) and learning is always a good thing to do.

So on this day … my thoughts are simply this:

Just a reminder to be grateful for all that you have.

Take a couple of minutes each day and say aloud, or to yourself or put pen to paper and make note of all that you are grateful for:

(this is my list)

My daughter Amanda

My doggie Alvin

My son-in-law and grand-puppies

My house, yard and everything that I have including great health.

Fresh Air

Clean Water

This planet

Animals, People and Chocolate and food.

All the people that I have met through my “jobs” …

That is just a few things that I am so grateful for …

I could go on and on, but you see my point.

If you are always grateful for everything that you have …… then you shall always have …..

and flowers …..

Have a blessed Friday everyone.

Always, Carol

P.S. just found out that this is my “294th” post.  YAY.  Time to celebrate …. crack open the champagne…..
