Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of December, 2016.

Skies are clear as I gaze out of my home office window.

The sun rise is beautiful.

Love to see blue sky and the SUN.

Chimneys throwing out smoke as the furnaces work to keep our homes toasty warm.

Another cold day in paradise.

I have waited for at least a couple of months since I first decided to do this Christmas Shopping Event.

I am so excited for people to come.

It is today from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Last night I was up until 1:30 doing preparations.

Getting the treats ready.

I iced 68 sugar cookies, made a Garlic Chili Cheeseball and my Key Lime Coconut Dip.  Both the cheeseball and the dip are made with Steeped Tea mixes and additional ingredients.

So excited.

I cleaned and I cleaned.

Set up the Steeped Tea table.

Set up the Dear Stella Jewellery table.

I removed almost everything from my kitchen counter to make room for the treats and stuff related to the “party.”

My kitchen looks so different.

Put things away ( will be fun remembering where I placed them ).

I must admit my house looks darn good.

All ready for people to attend our Christmas Shopping Event.

One of my friends from work makes all Natural Bath products and she will have a table. (Love to Scrub).

So three vendors.

So exciting.

I also did the prep work for my dinner party which is tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Well I have a few things left on my list to one being a relaxing shower before I get dressed.

Wish me luck.

I hope that you all are doing great and are having an awesome Saturday.

Stay safe, keep warm and do something nice for someone you know or do not know.

Spread the kindness.

Missing my baby boy.

Mr. Alvin is spending a couple of days at his sister’s house.

Too much excitement for him to be home.

He would be too stressed.

Special Hello to: my sister, yes we are to Skype tomorrow after supper.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 6th day of September, 2016.

The long weekend is over and it is back to work for me and many others.

It would appear that it rained overnight.

I thought that I heard it rain last night.

Well it was an extremely productive weekend for me.

I accomplished everything from laundry to mowing the front and back lawn to defrosting the fridge to picking up trash in the neighbourhood.

Busy but good.

It was nice to have so much time with Alvin, too.

After waking up to cool temperatures in the house and it not climbing after several hours, I broke down and turned on the heat.

With the temperatures being the mid teens this weeks it would have been too cool for the boy.

During the self imposed break from writing I did not plan on where I wanted to go from here.

So it will just evolve over time.

I guess that is a decision that I must make.

I am debating whether or not to catch the earlier bus this morning.

My regular time is back on the schedule.

Back on schedule because the kids are back to school and they added more times to the routes.

YAY.

It will be good in the winter when the bus is usually running a few minutes late.

I do not want to be late for work.

It leaves every 15 minutes so I have wiggle room.

I was inspired to write more poetry so that is for certain.

Something that can be done anywhere ….

Just have to have a pen and paper with me.

I hope that you had a great weekend.

Time to go and finish getting ready.

Thank you for reading this post and my blog.

Special Hello to: all my friends and family.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 30th day of May, 2015.

It was sunny earlier this morning but now as they have forecasted the skies are beginning to fill with dark blue clouds.

I have a couple of chores in the yard to do but if it rains before I get out there then they will wait for another day.

There is always enough work to do when you own a house.

And so it goes.

I hope that you are doing great on this fine Saturday morning.

I am so grateful that I am able to now have the evenings and weekends at home.

So nice to actually have the time to do things.

There is a long list.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with the TO DO LIST?

I hear you …..

Sometimes it is better to have a MASTER List, and then each weekend or evening, take a couple of items from the list and do it that way.

It seems to me that I keep adding things to the list and not taking any away.

So having a few things to accomplish each day makes it more manageable and much less stressful.

We all have to remember to take time for our ourselves, our families, and friends.

Well as I sip on my delicious cup of coffee I am thinking it is time to get this show on the road.

I always have to run out to do a couple of errands.

It sure feels cold today compared to the beginning of the week.

Ah, spring.

So happy second last day of May …..

Have a blast.

Take time for you.

Do one thing at a time.

Don’t fret ….

Sing out loud ……

Dance like you know you want to …..

Happy Saturday everyone.

Special Hello to: FAMILY, FRIENDS and STRANGERS.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of November, 2014.

It is a frigid cold morning here in Edmonton.

On the plus side the SUN is shining.

I worked last night for Black Friday at the store and just got to bed around midnight.

Seems like I just went to bed and Alvin was wanting me to get up to give him his breakfast.

So just after five a.m. we were up and then when he was done it was back to bed.

Although I have already washed one load of laundry, put in the second and hand washed the ‘tupperware containers’ and miscellaneous odd chores it feels like I just got up.

Well I am off for my me time …

Having coffee with my friend “G” …. I love chatting with her and catching up.

I am still feeling a bit of the “boot camp’ from Tuesday night.

Not too much but a little bit in my legs when I bend over.

Another busy Saturday ahead …. laundry, going to visit my nephew in the hospital, grocery shopping, housework and finishing my Christmas cards (meaning 2/3 of them).

I hope that you have an awesome Saturday.

Remember to take some time for yourself.

I am right now.

Take care.

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings ….

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 28th day of June, 2014.

It was bright and sunny and windy when I first got out of bed this morning.

The sky has now become overcast with some dark blue rain clouds and a few drops of rain.

Over the past couple of days I have noticed that people all over our city have packed up for the long weekend.

Whether they are just taking a road trip for the long weekend or starting their summer vacation, it is always interesting watching people pack up.

I noticed people in the neighbourhood packing up their cars and SUV’s ….. packing in all of their luggage ……

Most interesting when there are kids and pets ……

I am always surprised as to how much “stuff” we take while going on vacation.

In recent times, we have such a thing as laundry facilities …… at most places.

But we still tend to pack everything but the kitchen sink.

Oh well, that’s the life of we, humans.

So on this long weekend I am working and relaxing and relaxing and working.

I am doing the regular house stuff like cleaning and laundry adding in working at the store and also preparing for my kids move.

So exciting to have company for a few months.

Will be easier to cook for three than one.

Will be nice to have someone to talk to other than Mr. Alvin …..

No offense, my buddy.

Oh well ….. time to get things underway ….. ┬ámmm, first on the list start the LAUNDRY ….

Thank goodness for modern machines ….. when I was little laundry was an all day or two event.

I remember having to use a wringer washer …. oh, that was fun.

We put the laundry on a clotheslines to dry ( but the smell was amazing ) and we ironed everything.

Those were the days.

I hope that you have a grand Saturday.

Special Hello to: all my those people out there going on vacation ….. I hope you have safe travels.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 14th day of June, 2014.

Bright and sunny with a hint of a breeze that cools the early morning ….. it is almost Nine so not that early.

Well today is going to be a huge day for me …. I have a TO DO LIST about one mile long.

Have you ever had that day when you made out your list and it was almost scary the amount of chores and things you had to do?

Today is that day for me.

It is almost daunting as to where to start.

But all you can do is make that list.

Start at the top ( put something on the top that you can do quickly).

Once you have finished or completed a task – cross it off with a marker or highlighter – something that will stand out.

You will feel so much better that way.

It shows up as you complete the items.

If you get near the bottom or even half way and still too many things to do in the course of one day …. then see what you can do later.

We always get carried away thinking we are SUPER “WOMEN” or “MEN” …… sometimes we are.

So deep breath …… consult the list that I started and write that list.

I will tell you one thing ….. it feels so amazing to cross things off of a list and see what you have accomplished over the course of a day or two compared to just buzzing around trying to think of what you have to do.

Less stressful and I believe wholeheartedly that you accomplish more with a TO DO LIST.

So let’s take off ….. get things done ….. what you cannot easily accomplish today save for tomorrow or perhaps ask for help.

I know that Alvin has had his heart set on mowing the grass for his Momma … and who knows I might get his help.

Now wouldn’t that be a sight ….. watching a doggie pushing the lawn mower.

Which is a push one powered by “muscles” …..

Happy Saturday.

See you back here tomorrow.

Special Hello to: all those people who are looking around and seeing tasks to do and do not know where to start …… write your list ….. have fun.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 28th day of November, 2013.

WOW, less than one month until Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving to our neighbours to the south.

I hope that you all have a safe and wonderful holiday.

Can you believe it, less than one month till Christmas.

They are already starting to televise the Christmas shows.

YAY.

Some years it is the middle of December before they come on t.v.

This year early ….. I am happy about that.

Gets us all in the holiday spirit.

So on this day …. I hope that with lists in tow you can begin to tackle your holiday tasks.

Just remember …. TO DO LISTS …. are a good thing.

You can see what you have done and also you do not miss anything.

Happy Thursday …..

Special Hello: to my fellow American bloggers ….. Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol and Alvin
