2021

Good Morning ALL! Welcome to the 2nd day of July 2021. We were up at 4:30, Alvin had his breakfast and then we headed back to the sofa. Next thing I know it is 6:30, so I jumped up off the sofa and upstairs to get dressed so that we could go for a walk. No one wants to see an almost 64 year old woman in her summer nightgown, lol. Off we went. Perhaps there was a reason that we went one hour later than the rest of the week. A strong gust of cool wind hit us as we descended from the front porch steps and onto the sidewalk. It was glorious. Honestly, I could have stood for for all of time or at least until I had to pee. The sun was shining but from time to time cloud cover took hold and it was just devine. There is a 50 percent chance of rain in the forecast but I am hoping for rain. The grass and trees and everything and everyone needs some moisture. I think after this post that I am going to take the hose and give my flowers in the flower beds some water. I only gave the front bed a bit of water last night. Of course, I thought that I would have been up at 5:30 not 6:30. OH WELL. Alvin is panting as it is hot upstairs. Even with a fan. So this will be short. We are grateful that the temperatures here are decreasing. Thank goodness. I sure hope that this is the case everywhere else as well. Low to mid 20 celsius temperatures is warm enough. High 30’s is too much. We spent most of yesterday in the basement. I was arranging and rearranging and purging and stuff. Six garbage bags later and a huge box of stuff that I do not need or want and it is looking better. At least it looks like a family room. We had fans going down there as well and actually at times had to put on a light sweater. Alvin enjoyed it. When we had to come back upstairs for water and bathroom breaks it was difficult. For supper I had apple pie and chocolate ice cream. I figure that I had fruit and some calcium. We watched movies all night long.

Time to head downstairs. Alvin is warm. Fur coat and all. He drinks nearly a whole bottle of water when we walk and I am grateful that I have that travel water dish for him.

Keep safe and cool.

Have a wonderful Friday. I am off work today. So a four day weekend for me counting yesterday.

Continuing to live with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude.

Always, Carol & Alvin

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing this GREAT Saturday morning? Alvin and I are well. Going to head out for a walk after I write this post. Now I am wishing when we were up earlier that I had actually got my butt up off the sofa but sometimes you just want to snuggle under a warm blanket especially when you know that you do not have to be at work just a few steps away, lol. Anyway, no matter, a decision was made actually several times as we were up and down since about 4:35 a.m. That is the state of our household. A hot mess, most mornings. We manage to get through it and each day. The sun is shining and has been since earlier. There is a breeze but thankfully not gale force winds. So grateful for that. Getting bad when the wind blows over your flowers pots on the deck, okay only one but it was not light. I love looking at the sky. There are clouds which appear to be forming on the southern horizon and actually are taking the shape of mountains, how cool is that? Absolutely beautiful. I believe that the forecast is for 22 degrees celsius today with cloudy periods. So perhaps now would be a good time to go for a walk. The laundry and house cleaning can wait. Yesterday we walked twice which was great. We spotted the families of geese in the park snacking on grass by the trees close to the water. The goslings are no longer little fluff balls but are beginning to get their feathers. I am quite sure that I heard or read somewhere that young geese / goslings are not able to fly until they get their “flight feathers.” No wonder the adults stay close by.

There are 997 lovely souls that are now following this blog. WOW, I cannot believe it. The number has grown so much in the past year and I am grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy lives to read my posts. It brings me immense joy. I wish you great joy, much love and laughter and abundance. Thank you.

Well tomorrow is Father’s Day and the official First Day of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Two huge events.

I am going to sign off for now. Get out there and get one or two with nature and get some exercise. Getting older has done nothing for my waistline, lol.

Have a wonderful Saturday. Enjoy the day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, With much thanks and gratitude, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time

Good Morning …. New Year’s Eve Day.

Woke up earlier to being congested with a headache.

Went back to bed twice.

Mr. Alvin really wants me to get up so I am up.

Still not feeling great but will just get on with it.

The sky is partially overcast with blue cloud cover and the sun peeking through in spots.

I have things that I had planned to do today but now off to a late start.

Oh well, nothing that cannot wait.

It is the last day of 2019.

Tomorrow is a NEW YEAR and a new DECADE.

How exciting.

Well I do apologize for this being a short post as Mr. Alvin would like to go downstairs.

Perhaps he has to go outside.

I should get dressed as still in pjs.

It is almost 11:00 a.m.

ARGH.

But what can you do.

REST is best.

Not too difficult to change bedding and throw some laundry in the washing machine.

Just little jobs.

Perhaps having a shower would decongest me.

Well 2019 as every other year has seen good and bad.

There will always be births and deaths, it is life.

Work has been work.

Temporarily in a new space but our old building is now renovated and we move back shortly.

Met new people in the neighbourhood.

Enjoyed company of family and new and old friends.

Was able to go on another great road trip in the summer with my daughter.

My sister drove to visit and joined us girls on our annual road trip.

Finally had my office painted after several years of discussing and loving it.

Hung up the bulletin boards that my daughter made for me two years ago for Christmas.

The office is now a happy space

Alvin’s best friend has a new little sister.

My sister adopted a new four legged friend named RAIN.

I remain selling STEEPED TEA and NORWEX.

Summer of 2019 was wet and cool.

Christmas of 2019 was mild.

All in all it has been a good year.

I look forward to this new one starting tomorrow.

Will rest today so that I can start the new one in a good place.

Well time to get this day going.

I think that Mr. Alvin has to go outside.

Happy New Year’s Eve.

I hope that you have a great day.

Whether you go out on the town or just stay at home.

Happy New Year’s Eve.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 6th day of May, 2019.

Almost one day into the month of May and the third morning in a row that we woke up to NO SNOW so that is progress.

Forecast showing rain for Wednesday which is another good thing.

We can use the moisture.

The sun is slowly rising in the eastern sky.

As I look out of the window I can see just above my sight line patches of that pure blue sky.

There is also a bit that is hard to explain but appears to be a opening of blue sky with darker blue clouds and a wisp of white clouds semi covering with a shout out to the SUN.

So beautiful but really difficult to explain and of course, no camera to be seen at this moment.

I am not certain that my camera would capture this very delicate but beautiful sight.

I could look at the sky all day long from sun up to sun down and onward.

Nothing like SKY.

Well here we are almost time to leave for work once again.

Seems like it was just Friday night.

We have been and continue to be on watering duty and I am proud to say that the plants appear to be doing great.

My green thumb is not quite as deep a green as my friend’s but I do okay.

Mr. Alvin is resting on the double thick blankets on the floor beside me.

He is always at my side except when I am at work.

Definitely my boy.

I would not have it any other way.

We had a quiet weekend and the only human contact we had was a brief conversation with our neighbour.

Isn’t it funny how one can go that many hours with out actually seeing anyone – well actually speaking to anyone.

We did see people out and about.

Productive weekend and I even did some extra writing which I am very happy about …..

Well time to get this show on the road.

Perhaps Mr. Alvin needs to go outside once again before I leave the house.

Wishing you all a most wonderful Monday ….

May your week be filled with perfect health and much joy…..

Oh and laughter ….. gotta have some laughs along the way.

Special Hello to: my family ….. I don’t call nearly enough ….. I know that …… thinking of you all….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 23rd day of April, 2019.

The sun is well up and the sky is slightly overcast.

My last day of vacation before heading back to work tomorrow.

I have so enjoyed this time at home with my Alvin.

So much has been accomplished and I am most grateful.

Last night we went to bed a bit later than our usual time as we had Mr. Humphrey over while is Momma was out for her dancing class.

Up then up at 5:30.

Alvin ate his breakfast and went outside and then we hit the sofa for some extra zzz’s.

I figured last morning to sleep in for a bit.

I was dreaming stories which was great and now only remember bits and pieces.

Like out for a walk with Alvin and a small dog (one we knew but do not remember) with no leashes.

Not something that I would ever be doing.

Alvin went to turn onto the street and a red car turned at the same time he stopped and rolled down his window; it was my son-in-law.

I do not remember if he even spoke to me.

I managed to get the pups to safety across the street where my son-in-law stayed with them while I got into the car.

The windshield was covered with a sheet as I struggled to get the seat ready for me to drive the car.

It was so strange.

The seat was not your ordinary one.

Every time I moved it back for forward; it would zig and zag.

Finally I managed to get it sort of okay and pulled the sheet up and caught it in the door so that it would not move.

Why I did not take it off I will never know?

Why was it there in the first place I will never know?

Why did I drive the car?

Why did I not put the pups in the back seat and my son-in-law drive us home?

Why did my son-in-law bring the pups home?

We were very close to home.

Just down the street by the park.

More questions that not.

So many dreams in that few hours that we were snuggled on the sofa this morning.

At the end I drove home and my son-in-law brought the pups home.

I think he carried them.

Stuff of dreams.

Well last day before heading back to work.

Some laundry to do and I am going to check on Mr. Humphrey after getting dressed.

A bit later than we have been getting up as it is slightly after 9:00 a.m.

We have been up for about 20 minutes or so.

Will be enjoying a walk or two today.

I hope that you all had an awesome Easter weekend.

Spent time with your family and friends.

Perhaps got some spring cleaning done.

Had a walk with your pup or with family and friends or ALL.

Wishing you an awesome Tuesday.

Happy Day.

Looking forward to coffee after I get dressed and go check on Mr. Humphrey.

Perhaps later will bring him over to spend some time with us.

He likes to go outside.

Special Hello to: all my family and friends.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 10th day of June, 2015.

It is a beautiful morning here in Edmonton …. sun coming up with a bit of cloud cover.

Mid week.

We had a strange night …..

About 8 p.m. or so I just felt so tired and actually fell asleep for about 40 minutes on the sofa.

It was after that ….. that I decided might as well go to bed.

So we were in bed before nine which is rare.

Of course, Mr. Alvin did not settle down right away and he was also up bright and early.

After having my shower this morning …. Mr. Alvin treated himself to licking some of the coconut oil from my legs.

What a silly dog….. it was funny trying to keep my legs away from him.

Perhaps I will start giving him a bit everyday and then he will leave my legs alone.

I have been giving him these chews from the Vet.

He really likes, understatement, really loves them.

He wonders about the house hiding them and last night ….. he decided he was going to bury one in the back yard.

I found this out when he brought it back in the house at one point and it was covered in dirt.

YUCK.

So as any good Momma would do …. I wanted to wash it.

Only thing was …. he thought that I wanted it … wanted it….. and growled at me.

Can you imagine?

Growling at the “Mom.”

Finally after tricking him with some of Elton’s dog food that was left behind and we used as treats (because Elton has allergies and by the way, Elton is my grand-puppy).

Anyway he dropped the chew and I grabbed it up with my other hand.

Washed it up and that was that.

He is a funny guy, Mr. Alvin.

He always makes me smile.

I hope that you have an amazing Wednesday.

Thank you for reading my blog ……

Special Hello to: all those folks out there who have a special “Alvin” in their lives …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 26th day of October, 2014.

The sky is partially in cloud cover but I do see Mr. Sun starting to come out.

We had a great day yesterday with our Open House.

Some of my co-workers and neighbours dropped by.

We sold some jewellery and had some refreshments and had some great conversation.

Doesn’t get better than that for a Saturday.

I love the simple pleasures in life ….. good food …… good company and great conversation.

A good laugh makes my day.

So just putting on the finishing touches before leaving for the store.

Sundays are always fun …… lots of people out shopping.

I love meeting new people.

So on this Sunday I hope that life finds you in great company eating delicious food and sharing a laugh or two.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: all the ladies who came over yesterday for our Dear Stella Open House.

Always, Carol and Alvin
