Living … One day at a time.

Hello to a gloom grey sky.

Just going to be a quiet day for us.

I think because of the gloomy skies, it would be a great time to share some colourful photos.

Photos taken over the years.

Flowers and Nature always bring a smile to my face.

Hopefully will bring a smile to your face.

I always find that when the sky is grey and rainy – flowers bring joy to my world.

Also Alvin does that as well.

Our children, our fur babies, adult family and friends …. they all bring us joy.

Wishing you a quiet, happy, healthy Sunday ….

With kindness and respect our days will be good.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 7th day of January, 2018.

A successful day on all front was Saturday.

Alvin and I had a great walk in the sunshine and warm air.

I managed to do all of the laundry, clean the bathrooms, make a lovely roasted vegetable supper and baked a spice cake for our coffee party this morning.

In between I watched the STAR TREK movies that were played on the SPACE CHANNEL.

I had forgotten that they were going to be on so missed recording the first two but recorded all of the rest.

I have most of them on DVD.

One of my favourite television series and movie series ever.

I miss William Shatner as Captain Kirk but Chris Pine reminds me of him, a great deal.

So I decided after writing about my beautiful Christmas Cards yesterday that I would snap some photos and give you a show of them.

Here they are:

the very first card was actually handmade by a family friend’s daughter, how colourful and great.

I am painting my office in the spring and will have one wall with all of my cards for Birthdays, Mother’s Day and Christmas all displayed.

When you hang them up on a string from corner to corner you can change them out whenever you like.

DYI, instead of wallpaper string up CARDS …… once this is done, I will post this project.

Well time to go and have breakfast and prepare for my company.

Happy Sunday.

Another warm day on the way before colder weather coming.

Special Hello to:  my sister.  SKYPE tonight at 6:00 p.m. my time?

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 17th day of February, 2017.

Well it is Friday and almost the weekend and a long one at that….. so happy.

I am looking forward to three days at home.

The air felt cooler when I opened the door this morning for Alvin to go outside.

Definitely cooler than the past few mornings.

Still much warmer than most winter mornings.

We have been really lucky with weather and hopefully that will last.

Is this evidence of global warming?

I would suspect so.

The sunrises have been so colourful the past few mornings.

Love clear skies so that you can actually see the sunrise.

The purples, pinks and yellows are incredible.

Looks like the most beautiful painting ever.

I woke up on the sofa from an odd dream this morning.

I dreamt that I was with my sister and I think at our Grandmother’s house.

Someone had a truck.

There were large pieces of wood and odd pieces such as benches, garden tables, wooden flower pots.

She grabbed this nice wooden bench and ran off.

I didn’t know what to do so I grabbed a couple of flower pots.

It was really strange.

Perhaps my sister can figure this one out.

Oh, by the way Mr. Alvin has continued his 4:00 a.m. rising.

Not sure why.

Perhaps I should participate in some manner in the talks about “Daylight Savings Time.”

Really not sure why we really have to have a different time than others or the other way round.

Definitely conversation worthy.

Well almost time to hit the road.

Definitely going to wear a heavier coat this morning.

I did wear boots yesterday as I just could not bring myself to wear shoes.

One never knows.

Happy Friday to You All.

Enjoy the day.  Spread some kindness to every living creature you encounter today.

Special Hello to: my sister and I have a question for her …. did your son, my nephew ever receive the card that I sent to him?  I mailed it one week before his birthday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 13th day of September, 2016.

Alas, morning darkness has swept across the nation.

Too dramatic?

Well that is how I feel this morning.

It is more and more difficult to get up in the morning.

Okay perhaps a bit overdone.

But gone have the dog days of summer.

I have always wanted to write that …. what does that really mean?

Getting up in the darkness and in a few months we will be going home in the dark, as well.

Wha Wha Wha !!!

Okay off of the self pity train here.

I am grateful for this week ahead as the forecast is for low 20 degree days (that would be celsius).

That is so wonderful.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk last night.

The grass is still a plush green.

I mowed the grass in our backyard last night and it looks the best it has been all summer.

It will go out in style that is for sure.

The leaves are turning but the flowers are still quite pretty.

My impatiens plants are so full and colourful.

There was a chance of frost last night but I believe that we missed it.

I will find out for sure when I go to work.

Guess that is sooner than later.

Catching this earlier bus now kind of sucks but oh well …..

It is less packed so that is nice.

I am so grateful that my ride in the morning is seated down because most nights going home it is not.

At least not all the way.

I am getting onto which bus to take at night so that I sometimes can sit and then catching another one going home and actually getting home a few

minutes early.  Last night I was home by 5:00 – pretty good considering I get off at 4:00 p.m.

Well time to fly.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Enjoy the days.

Special Hello to: my friends all over the world.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 9th day of September, 2016.

Starting raining shortly after we went to bed last night.

Came down fast and hard.

No notable thunder or lightning.

Still wet this morning.

But does not appear to be raining at this time but I will take the old “umbrellie” just in case.

So grateful that today is Friday.

Why is it that four day work weeks always feel like two weeks?

I know it is because we try to fill those days with a week’s worth of stuff.

Last night after work I came home to my boys; Elton and Alvin.

They are so cute.

After they went outside and followed by their supper and I got changed we went for the most luxurious walk ever.

Elton loves to take a slow gait and smell every light post and blade of grass.

It was so funny Elton was stopping to smell something and Alvin was checking things out ahead.

Needless to say I was caught in the middle.

It was so funny …..

We had such a good walk.

The temperature was perfect …. just perfect for our walk.

Two nights in a row.

I wished that every evening could be that way.

Well as we are in September it is time to start the fall clean-up.

Start pruning bushes, pulled plants, cleaning and putting away patio furniture and the like.

My flowers for the most part are still doing so well that I think I will leave them for a bit longer.

The impatiens are so full of blooms.

The colours are crazy beautiful.

Just amazing.

I put my “autumn” wreath on the door last weekend as I figured we are in September ….. why not have fall colours mixed in with summer?

After all some leaves are yellow and some are green.

Well it is almost time once again to get this show on the road.

Have to start getting up just a tad earlier now that I am leaving the house 15 minutes earlier.

Alvin and I wish you the best Friday.

Full of love and laughter and abundance.

Special Hello to: my sister …… we have to SKYPE soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 16th day of August, 2016.

Another gorgeous morning – a bit cooler – so refreshing.

The sun is coming up in the east as it always does.

Last night it was hot, muggy and there were mosquitoes so we opted to hang out in the yard.

We, Alvin and I snapped some photos and watered flowers.

Here are some shots that we took last night.

The second photo of Alvin should read: “Really, Momma enough already.”

Who knew roses again!

They are the most delicate pink and so pretty again.

There are photos of my back shrub/rose garden and deck.

There are photos of the front yard freshly mowed thanks to my neighbour “S.”

Photos of my front flower bed which I have dubbed “The English Canadian Garden.”

Without my friend who has the most beautiful which I call English Garden it would only be a flower garden.

Just thought I would share.

Chicks & Hens

Impatiens to name a few.

Also two of the shrubs are from another friend of mine down the street.

So my garden is truly a community affair.

Well time to get this show on the road.

I hope you enjoy some colour in my blog ….. beautiful colours.

A fond reminder to stop and enjoy all the bounty that nature supplies to us.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello: my gardener friends …. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 28th day of July, 2016.

It is a gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

The sunrise is the most brilliant delicious red with orange and yellow hues.

In contrast to the south there are deep blue rain clouds filling the sky.

Earlier I saw a bolt of lightning light up the early morning sky.

I quickly grabbed my tablet to get a couple of photos of this amazing morning sky.

It has been hot with temperatures of high 20’s celsius but the ringer is the humidity ….

With the humidity it feels like in the 30’s …. hot and muggy.

Along with the weather of course we have had many a thunderstorm filled with manic rain showers, thunder and lightning.

Yesterday afternoon at work about 2:00 p.m. it was raining in buckets.

I was hoping it would stop before I was off work as getting soaked on your walk to the bus is only a bit fun.

Yes, I said it …. the child in me, does not mind.

After work is okay to be wet ….

I carry an umbrella with me but sometimes it does not matter.

I remember years ago on my way to work I did not have an umbrella and was soaked completely through and with the air conditioning in the building it literally took me all day to dry out.

Not a comfortable way to spend the day.

The sun is shining so brilliantly now that the blue sky to the south is almost sparkling and with another bolt of lightning.

What a beautiful sky this morning.

Well time once again to leave for work.

I wish that I had the time to show my photos but they do not capture the true beauty of this morning’s sky.

Close your eyes and use your imagination and you will see what I see.

Have a wonderful day.

Happy Weather er, I mean Thursday.

Special Hello to: all those folks who love weather.

Always, Carol and Alvin
