Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of December, 2018.

WOW, just three days remaining in December including today.

It remains dark as we were up slightly earlier than most of the last few days.

We are hosting the girls coffee party/visit this morning at 10:00 a.m.

Only one of the two gals is able to make it but that is okay.

Next time.

I am also planning to give Mr. Alvin a bath this afternoon.

Forecast is for plus 2 so figured after our walk – a nice warm bath would hit the spot.

What are you thinking about this morning?

We were up the first time about 6:00 and then 7:30 and then 8:00 a.m.

Each time I laid back down I started to dream.

My mind has been running amok landing on the strangest of topics.

Where do we get these thoughts from?

At one point I was choosing a couple of purses and something else that I do not remember from some items that were going to be tossed.

The thing is all these items were brand new.

Strange.

My Mom was in the dream and the items that were being tossed were hers or at least she was in charge of the items.

I don’t remember anything else.

Too bad.

Just the purses and my Mom.

Outside my window – still dark.

The sky is white, the rooftops are white and the ground is white.

Hopefully the sun will shine again today.

It seems quite eerie almost as if we were placed in a large white bowl.

Does not appear that we have sky.

Very odd.

Alvin is laying on his blue blanket beside me.

Oh, the comfort of routine.

I would say that is the case for most of us.

We feel good when we are in our routine.

No matter what that routine is ….

It is the unknown that causes us anxiety.

For the most part.

Well time for a nice warm shower.

Wake me up before our company arrives.

My friend will be bringing her daughter.

So three girls and Mr. Alvin.

A nice group.

I hope that you have a great day.

Maybe we should all stretch a bit beyond our comfort zone.

Not always easy but we should try.

Special Hello to: all those folks who take the time to read my blog.  Thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 13th day of June, 2015.

It is a glorious morning here at my house in Edmonton.

There is a breeze, the sky is almost overcast with the sun peeking through in spots.

Yesterday I took half of a day vacation from the office and came home for the afternoon.

I made a few stops before arriving at the house.

Stopped at Shoppers and then at Save-on.

The one out of the ordinary item that I bought was one of those bags that is on wheels.

My daughter told me that I should get one and it would be easier to carry groceries home.

I really didn’t want to because it kind of made me feel “old.”

Now I know that shouldn’t be as I see all ages pulling those “carts” around filled with things.

It wasn’t the easiest thing to load.

Trying to hold the full grocery bag and load it into the bag …. took a few tries.

I have the recycled bags so perhaps the plastic might have been easier but oh well.

I am trying to do my part for the environment.

After loaded I did find it easy to pull home….. so much easier on my shoulders and arms and hands.

The main reason I took the afternoon off was to paint the front porch.

I will admit that I have kind of procrastinated on doing it but it is done.

There are pictures to prove my hard work.

There was a bit of a wind …. actually it was quite windy …. not gale force.

But from the looks of my hair, clothing and the landing you might think it was a strong strong wind.

Now all white and pristine.

Looks pretty good for a non-professional and it was fun.

There was only one thing … Mr. Alvin.

I put the baby gate up at the door so that he could at least see me.

Didn’t work so much as he just sat there and “cried.”

I did not wish to take it down as I knew he would be running to one of the neighbours or the other.

So I just tried to be reassuring ….. “Your Momma is here.”

Or perhaps he didn’t think I was doing a great job.

Or perhaps he thought I may fall off of the ladder.

Anyway it is done.

In the fall it will be door frame and window frames.

YAY ….

I am so proud of myself….

Now it is your turn …. try something outside your regular comfort zone.

Well time to finish my coffee and get dressed as Mr. Alvin has an appointment for his regular pedicure.

His favourite thing to do …. NOT …..

I have a long to do list and I am going to accomplish every item and be all done by six o’clock tonight.

YAY …..

Have to have the house in ship shape for my Steeped Tea par-TEA next Saturday.

Besides always good to get the rest of my spring “cleaning” done.

Blinds ….. cupboards ….. you know.

Have a awesome Saturday.

Special Hello to: all you folks who are stretching and doing things outside of your regular routine.  Congratulations

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Happy Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

I remember when I was a little girl…..

When it was November, I got so excited because I knew that it was close to Christmas.

Christmas was, and has always been a special time of the year for me.

I have changed my usual routine and am putting up my Christmas tree on the weekend (Saturday) …..

I am very excited to start decorating.

Sometimes it is good to change things up a bit.

The last three years of my life have seen major changes …..

Guess the ten or so before that … I had been playing it relatively “safe” ….. things remained basically the same.

That is not to say … that I had not seen change in my life.  Just was small in comparison to that of recent.

All I am saying is ….. change can always be seen as GOOD …… it is good to step outside your comfort zone ….. drop your safety net ….. your “blankie” ….

For those willing to take a risk and make some changes no matter the size ….. I say “way to go” ….

All those still wanting to keep things unchanged … that is okay, too.

Sometimes it is just a matter of “baby steps” ……

Add cream to your coffee…

Go for a walk to a different neighbourhood than your own….

Have an awesome day everyone.

Special Hello to:  Jeannette, Janice, Joan, Jim, Janine, and all those folks that names begin with the letter “J” ……

Always, Carol
