Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 5th day of August, 2018.

The house is quiet at the moment except for the whirring of the fan downstairs.

My sister, Alvin and I are awake but not wanting to disturb the sleeping ones.

It is getting late – 9:30 – so soon we shall just go downstairs.

Alvin and I were up earlier for him to eat and go outside.

The sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful day on the way.

YAY.

We had a great time yesterday.

The birthday party was a huge success.

Today the family leaves for Calgary.

A couple of days staying at a hotel with a pool/waterslide, I think.

They will visit with our youngest brother.

The days passed so quickly ….. they always do when you have company ….. on vacation.

Alvin will miss everyone most especially my sister.

Yesterday we walked to the service station just out of our immediate neighbourhood.

Alvin and I waited on the corner as I did not wish him to walk on the street.

Busy streets with traffic lights.

He cried and tugged on the leash for her from the time she crossed the streets to the time she was back with us.

Was glad when she arrived back.

He loves his Auntie C.

I am so glad that they were all able to come and spend some time with us.

It was great getting to know the great nephews.

Well time to get this show on the road.

Have an awesome Sunday and enjoy the day.

Special Hello to:  my friend “V” in Regina, hope you are having a great summer.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of June, 2018.

Happy Father’s Day to all the DADS out there.

It does not matter if you are a biological father, a father by marriage or by adoption or a Dad to fur babies.

Every DAD is important.

Happy Father’s Day to all the FATHERS in my life.

Thank you.

Well this was an unusual morning.

We stayed up and watched a movie, the new TOMB RAIDER, Lara Croft one after my family went home.

We had a great visit and supper together.

So much laughter.

This was a company weekend and we both it enjoyed all of our company.

So this morning we were up at 5:30 or Mr. Alvin wanted me to get up.

We got up and he had breakfast and went outside.

Back to the sofa and then it was almost 9:00 when we got up.

Figured would eat first and then go for a walk as it looks like a hot one on the way.

We left home about 9:30 and got home about 11:10 a.m.

Had a few stops for visits along the way with the last one being with our friends at the corner.

Alvin enjoyed running and sniffing in their back yard while we sat and visited on the swing.

He laid and rolled in the grass, so cute.

He loves their back yard and so do I.

Looks like a hot week ahead.

No complaints as our summers are so short.

We had a nice morning no rushing.

Just having coffee now which is late but that is okay.

ON our walk we saw the geese down by the water by the trees.

Did not see the goslings.

Disappointed.

Well time to get some things done and to enjoy a CUP OF COFFEE.

I love that first cup of coffee.

I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday with your family and friends.

Maybe you are looking forward to a quiet one and that is okay, too.

OR perhaps you are working away from home as is my nephew.

Have a safe and wonderful day.

Looks like this is going to be great summer.

I hear that company is company is coming to our house at the end of July.

My daughter and I are taking a road trip in August.

Just gets better and better.

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day.

Special Hello to: all the FATHERS out there …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 24th day of August, 2017.

To be another hot day and possible thunderstorms.

Is this the end of August weather?

As August winds down, I am happy in the fact that I spent time with so many of the people that I adore this month.

Some from a distance and others from around the corner.

I write on paper every morning and say to myself multiple times each day of how blessed and fortunate I am.

To be surrounded by the most kind, thoughtful, compassionate, generous, funny and intelligent people.

Some of them are young ones and others in between and some older.

I have always believed that your friend base should be broad and of every age category / group.

This has kept me young and alive.

I will never forget the time that I spent with my sister this August.

The most time we have spent together in years.

It was wonderful and amazing.

She always makes me laugh and even sometimes provokes those conversations and feelings that get you going.

That is a good thing.

Learn and grow.

She is a smart lady and I love her very much.

Also this August I spent lots of time with my girl, my daughter.

She is simply the best person on the planet.

Her kindness, generosity and compassion are surpassed by no other.

Love you my darling.

Also my friend “V” from back in my other home ……

This woman is the best friend one could ever ask for ….

She is funny, intelligent, thoughtful, kind, generous and the BEST COOK on the planet.

I treasure our conversations whether on-line or on the phone.

I am hoping that we can visit before the year ends.

She also introduced me to a friend of hers named “J” and she is this incredible funny and wonderful lady.

Never met her but I feel like I have known her for years.

My friends in Edmonton ….. treat me like a Queen.

They are supportive, great conversationalists, thoughtful and kind and SMART.

How could one go wrong being surrounded by all these great WOMEN.

Now the men are another story.

I have some men friends and of course they have all of the above traits.

Including me Alvin.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day and that you are as blessed as I.

Special Hello to:  friends and family ….. you rock.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 6th day of August, 2017.

Just a few more days until I turn 60.

Having a great visit with my little sister.

We are off to West Edmonton Mall for a few hours.

The sun is shining and the birds are singing  and life is grand.

What a lucky girl I am.

Alvin is loving having two of me…..

The reason I say is because we sound exactly the same.

Alvin is running between the two of us.

But I will say that he loves his Auntie C.

Last night we were out for a walk and she popped into the corner gas station.

We stayed across the street waiting for her as I did not want to take him across the big busy street.

He cried for her and waited impatiently for her to return.

Well time to put the finishing touches on getting ready.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my family and friends on this sunny Sunday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 and it is the 9th day until my 60th Birthday.

Getting close now.

I am reminded each and everyday of how blessed I am to have such caring and thoughtful friends.

From the time I was a “wee girl” to today as a grown “mature” woman – I have been surrounded by wonderful friends.

Some of my friends I have known for a lifetime others I met when I moved to Edmonton.

Each and every one of them is special and holds a special place in my heart.

Honestly, I do believe that I have some of the best friends on the planet.

Always thoughtful and always there at each turn.

Sometimes with advice.

Sometimes just to listen.

Sometimes with leftovers.

Sometimes with treats from their garden.

Sometimes delicious treats made with love sent from miles away.

Sometimes just for a hug when life is getting you down.

Sometimes to make you laugh.

But always there.

So on this Tuesday, I am honouring my friends.

I am so grateful to have “friends” in my life.

Always, Carol

P.S. I have not forgot about the photos of the cherry blossoms.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 30th day of April, 2015.

Here we are on the last day of April ….. summer right around the corner.

I have spent the past couple of days home sick so it is great to be feeling better.

I will miss me Alvin ……

They have been forecasting rain for the past few days but alas no moisture.

Perhaps because I am going to work today it will rain.

I am going to take my umbrella, and be prepared.

The house is still with the only sound being the click clack of the keys as I press down on each one of them.

Almost sounding musical.

Perhaps this stillness is a good thing.

I am able to hear my thoughts with no distractions.

Alvin just got up from his position on the rug outside the office and moved into the shadows.

He likes to be in the corner for some reason.

He has his way.

Soon I shall be downstairs donning my jacket and shoes …. grabbing my purse, lunch and umbrella and on my way to catch the bus.

I hope that you are feeling great and are on your way to a wonderful day.

Almost May and in a few weeks I can plant some flowers.

One of my favourite times of year …. planting of flowers.

Okay …. time to go….

Be happy ….. do your thing ……

Special Hello to: my friends back in Saskatchewan.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 4th day of April, 2015.

Well it is overcast and snowing here in Edmonton.

On the deck the snow is sticking as it makes touchdown.

Just a steady stream of rain-like snow coming down.

When I look out of my front window the streets and sides are only wet.

What a start to the weekend, yesterday was bright and sunny, and I think it was 15 degrees celsius here.

Now today exact opposite.

Well today is my last shift at the store.

Last night I baked a bunch of chocolate chip cookies to take to the staff this morning.

To show my appreciation for them all.

I am both excited and sad for this day.

Excited to have Friday night and the weekends back but sad to not to see all of my friends.

Today will be bittersweet.

Alvin is intently gazing out of our temporary bedroom window.

The kids move into their new house on the 16th which is right around the corner.

So much happening right now.

Still busy but at least now it will be on my own timetable.

I hope that if you are travelling on this Easter long weekend that you have clear skies if you are flying and dry safe roads for driving.

I hope that you are surrounded by the love of family and friends.

I hope that you are surrounded by laughter ….. always good to have some giggles.

I hope that perhaps you reach out to someone less fortunate than yourself.

I hope that if you see an animal in distress you help them.

May this weekend be all about love and respect for yourself and others.

Always remembers “others” includes all beings …..

Have a great Saturday.

Special Hello to: all those folks who read my blog, thank you so much.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 26th day of March, 2015.

How are you doing this fine morning?

I am doing great.

Today I am learning something new.

One of my new friends is taking me on the “train.”

It is one of the means of transportation in our city.

It is above ground and there are only a few trains in certain areas at this time.

I am excited and nervous.

I will meet her at her “work” and then we will walk to the train catching it to a central location where we will hop on a bus home.

Apparently it is much faster.

Should be interesting.

So that is my new thing for this day.

Well the temperatures are rising and with the sun higher in the sky the snow is melting quickly.

Wow can you believe it almost the end of March …… April is right around the corner.

Easter a week away.

My last shift at the store is one week from this Saturday.

I am so looking forward to this next chapter.

Well time to go to the office.

I can hear my ride ….

Have an awesome day.

Remember to learn something new everyday that is what keeps our brains “firing.”

Learning.

Special Hello to: all those folks who try to learn something new each day.

Always, Carol and Alvin
