Living … One day at a time.

Well Good Morning.

I took this day off from work so that I could have an extra long weekend and to just relax.

We were up at 6:00 as Humphrey is spending the day with us.

Relaxing on the sofa we watched several episodes of “My Lottery Dream Home.”

It was interesting to see the amount that folks would spend on a home which was clearly dependant on how much they had won.

There were winnings from $1,000,000 to $7,700,000 in the shows that I watched.

I can honestly say that I have my Dream Home, without winning the lottery.

However, I would love to be mortgage free.

We had a great weekend from Friday night to now.

I managed to finish writing up all the cards and letters that are to be mailed.

I will be walking over to Shoppers Drug Mart to mail them sometime around noon or so.

Today is just a bonus so we will just enjoy each other’s company.

We enjoyed a full walk yesterday afternoon.

The weather is supposed to be nice today as well so we will pop out for a walk a bit later.

I want to call a couple of our friends.

One we keep missing each other so I want to chat with her today.

We also want to check in on Teddy’s Mom as she is not working today.

Well that is all for today.

Oh, I should mention this as it was quite disturbing in a way.

My neighbour had picked up some of the Almond Milk the containers not kept in the store coolers.

When I went to open a new one this morning, I realized that the outside seal on the lid had been broken (not by me) and inside the tab had been punctured.

So clearly not a great idea to use this.

I mentioned to my friend and she is going to see if the store will exchange for a new one.

Always a good idea to ensure that the safety tabs/seals are not disturbed.

You never know what could have happened.

Okay time to get dressed as it is getting late here.

Enjoying this day for sure.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 15th day of August, 2014.

Wow, yesterday it was August 1st and then it was my birthday and now it is the 15th.

How crazy is that time seems to go by so quickly.

I guess if it is going by quickly I must be doing something right.

If I were bored or really unhappy it would go very slowly.

Or at least that is my theory.

Today is my kid’s Friday off from their jobs …. oh, how I wished that we still had every second Friday off.

It was so nice.

Oh well ….. life goes on.

On the up side when I have to catch the bus now that I start at “8:30” – I won’t have to catch the 6:00 a.m. one or earlier……

We are having an office “barbecue” today at noon followed by some fun.

Then tonight I work at the store.

I haven’t been there for almost two weeks as I took last weekend off while I was on vacation from the office.

So will be nice to see my friends again …..

The sky seems overcast …..

It is definitely a bit cooler out there this morning which will make for a comfortable bus ride to work.

I hope that you all have an amazing Friday.

Just remember whatever you are doing whether it be your dream job or something that you tolerate because it pays the bills and you have not as yet found your dream job ….. have FUN.

Everyday throw caution to the wind and be silly.

Life is so much better when you are having fun.

Crack a joke …. make a funny face ……. watch a stand up routine …..

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings that are just getting by …… get out there and find your passion ….. dream ……. go for it.

Thought for the day…

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 8th day of November, 2013.

We have a fresh blanket of snow covering the ground.

Last night Alvin and I went for a nice little walk and then a bit later it started to snow.

Sometimes we have impeccable timing.

Today is my day off from the office and I work tonight at the store.

My friend “G” is coming over in less than one hour and we are going to take several boxes of “extremely well kept” magazines to a nearby hospital.

My daughter and I love magazines and we take care of them.

So it is with pleasure that others will enjoy them.

Lots to do this day.

Thoughts today revolve around just how blessed and fortunate I am to live here and now.

I guess you could say that I have impeccable timing.

I hope that you have impeccable timing in whatever you are doing this day.

Take care and I will be back tomorrow.

Have a great Friday.

Special Hello to: all my supporters who have made reaching my first goal of 1,000 blogs a reality.

If no one reads it is just another journal.

Thought for the day….

Welcome to Friday, October 12th, 2012 ……

Today is my day off from my office job and I work the evening shift at the store.

But I plan to play and work for the rest of the day.

So my friend “G” and the kids are coming over for coffee/visit; afterward I will do some work.

Mid afternoon Mr. Alvin has an appointment with the vet (he’s okay just a nail trim and his annual shots).

Then come home and start getting ready to go to work as I am catching the bus to work tonight.

I actually love catching the bus …. you get to meet all kinds of wonderful and interesting people.

In between you hear people talking on their phones in every language on the planet.

The rhythm of their voices relaxes my mind and I just listen.

Not knowing what they are saying but just sitting there ….

Then I will at the store …. my favourite store …. the staff and the customers are amazing …. always fun.

I meet so many wonderful people ….

Well better get going … just time to vacuum the floors and put the coffee on before my company arrives.

Have a great weekend.

Special Hello to:  everyone working in retail ….. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. “G” just called the kids are sick so I am going over there for coffee ….. and pumpkin muffins.  How did I get so lucky?  Sorry for Mr. Alvin as he was excited to see his friends.  I will leave the television on so he has company.

Vacuuming can wait until later ….. mmmm ……. perhaps Al can do some housework while I pop out for coffee…..  LOL

Thought for the day…..

Hi Everyone and welcome to Friday, August 31st, 2012.

The very last day of August, my birth month.

Today is my day off from the office job and I am hosting a garage sale in a couple of hours.

So lots to do as I am less organized this time around than usual but that is okay.

I shall put myself into overdrive and get things done.

I am so grateful to have this day off and am looking forward to a successful sale.

I am already blessed besides having the day off but having the sun shine.

At first I was going to have the sale on the front lawn but then after consideration and debate with myself, I figured most items are already out in the garage so it would be easier.

No sense in reinventing the wheel so to speak.

So off I go……

Have yourself a great great day.

I hope that you have lots of time to yourself to perhaps walk in nature or lay on your deck or grass and look up at the night sky and just smile.

Those are two of my favourite things to do and guess what they are for FREE.

Special Hello: to all those other folks having a garage sale today.  I wish you much success.

Thought for the day…..

Good Thursday morning and welcome to August 30th, 2012….

It is a lovely morning here in Edmonton and the sun is beginning to rise in the east.

Tomorrow is my day off from my office job ( I work an extra long day to have this, and I am so grateful to have this option).

Tomorrow I am hosting a garage sale ….. I was thinking of having it on the front lawn but now I am thinking that perhaps I should just keep it in the garage.

After all, most of the items that I am selling are already in there …. would save moving things through the house or through the back gate.

Slight dilemma …. what to do.  I did mention on Kijiji that I might have it in the garage if the weather did  not hold.

I hope that you are having a great day.

As I was in my office and kitchen looking for some items last night ….. I had a huge revelation, and that was I still have lots of things to go through to sell, give or toss.

One thing at a time ….. perhaps I will have time tonight …

Did you have a garage or lawn or patio sale this summer?

Do you hang onto items for various reasons?

Is it hard to let them go?

Yes, yes, and yes for me.

I think that everyone should watch the TLC show “HOARDERS BURIED ALIVE” and that would light a fire under us to get rid of things that we truly do not require.

If you looked around my home for example I would say that it is not even remotely close to being over stocked but at the same time I want to keep only those items that I require to live my life and a few things that remind me of my life.

Even though we think that things make us happy …… really they don’t …… maybe for a short time but it is people and life’s experiences that make us happy and enrich us.

So on this Thursday, I would ask you to take stock of what you have ….. ask yourself the following questions:

1.  Is my home so crowded with things that I cannot live the best life for me?

2.  Does my home bring me joy?  Like when you walk in the door are you “grateful to be home” or does it scare you?

3.  Do I really need 50 boxes stacked in the corner of the basement?

4.  Do I really need all of my Grandmother’s china or example or perhaps I could share some items with family and friends?

5.  Do I really need to keep all of the cards that I have received over the past 40 years?

6..  Go through each room and ask yourself, Does this help me live my life?  Have I used it in the last year? (except Christmas).

I think that you get the idea ….. honestly you will feel light as a feather once you have your home just filled with the items that you love and require to live your best life.

Oh, yeah …. keep those items that you honestly love ……. we all have them.

Gotta run.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello: to all those having garage sales ..  good luck.

Always, Carol and Alvin
