2021

Good Morning All! How are you doing this morning? Feeling refreshed after a nice shower. Alvin was barking but has quieten down now. It is dark as night outside at this moment. It would appear that nothing has changed since the question of “Adopting Daylight Savings Time” in Alberta has reached a stalemate. So we shall see what happens. I thought this election that maybe people would want to change ….. meaning no setting the clocks forward and back. For me, I find it takes so long to adjust to the time change. Having the sunrise rise at 8:25 or 9:27 a.m., really what difference does a hour make. I would rather have the time at the end of the day. Perhaps we should ask our neighbours in Saskatchewan what they think? Actually I lived in Saskatchewan for most of my life and I loved it. Not having to change the clocks, remembering to change the clocks. I also remember that whenever I wanted to call my family in Alberta, I would have to think is it “fall back” or “spring forward” and calculate the time. A pain really. Anyway “time” will tell. Have to go with the majority. I think even if it is 51 to 49, you go with the majority of votes, right!

Someone has started to miss me again.

I noticed that most of my neighbours leaves are on the ground making a beautiful patchwork quilt of leaves. Looks so pretty. My yard has remained with only a few. I guess that big wind yesterday was blowing in my direction, lol. Anyway I love the leaves. The rich colours. I also love walking through them and the crunching beneath my feet as I go. Just like a little child.

Are you thinking about Christmas yet? It will be another different one. I hope that folks decide to keep things simple this year. I wonder about the increasing cost of food and other things. What does 2022 look like? So many questions.

Time to go. It is later than I thought. Always enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings.

Have a wonderful day. It is Wednesday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love, laughter and gratitude.

2021

Good Morning All! How are you this morning? My first day back to work since last Thursday and I will admit that I HIT the snooze button more than once, yes I did. I am up and going in the direction of work.

I was listening to the news yesterday. Next week in our Municipal Election they are asking us to vote on whether or not we want Daylight Savings Time. A Doctor was stating the cons of the sunrise and how it negatively affects us. So the sun would rise at 9:30 instead of 8:30, something like that. My home to the east Saskatchewan has been on DST for years and I don’t remember hearing that they were enduring problems. I like the idea of having everyone on the same time instead of having to think about the time everytime you call someone outside the province. Hopefully people will want to make the change.

Guess what I missed the Northern Lights show on Monday night. I cannot believe that I did not hear about it or SEE the light show. We were even outside and still up when the show was happening. Perhaps I do not have a good vantage point from here! I guess not if I did not notice the green sky. Hopefully it will happen again in the near future and I am sorry that I missed the show. Green is my favourite colour.

The last few mornings have been very crispy outside. Had to don a light winter coat. Still surprised by how many leaves remain on trees around the park and in our immediate neighbourhood. When we were out for a walk yesterday afternoon, I took notice of all the sizes and shapes of leaves from all of the different trees and the colours. Do you remember as a child collecting leaves for school projects? I do and that was a long, long time ago. There were long narrow leaves, round leaves, pointy leaves, almost square leaves, oblong and on and on. Colours everything from a plum, burgundy to golden yellow and orange. I love this time of year. My favourite time, actually. Walking and crunching on the leaves.

I took this photo a little while ago but I love the leaves from my tree. Now they are crunch and much fewer. I raked these ones but left the remaining ones as they fell to the ground. The wind has been so strong that there was no point in raking. Some of mine have gone to the neighbours and some of theirs to mine. If there is a point in the near future where there is calm outside I will give them one more rake before the season changes. One of the neighbours north of us has a tree that has red leaves. So pretty and such a vibrant red.

Well time to get downstairs and get the coffee on. See if Alvin has to go outside before I start work. Then turn on the computer and start work.

I hope that you have an awesome day. Wednesday already.

Continuing to live with respect, kindness, compassion, patience, understand, love, laughter and gratitude.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 17th day of February, 2017.

Well it is Friday and almost the weekend and a long one at that….. so happy.

I am looking forward to three days at home.

The air felt cooler when I opened the door this morning for Alvin to go outside.

Definitely cooler than the past few mornings.

Still much warmer than most winter mornings.

We have been really lucky with weather and hopefully that will last.

Is this evidence of global warming?

I would suspect so.

The sunrises have been so colourful the past few mornings.

Love clear skies so that you can actually see the sunrise.

The purples, pinks and yellows are incredible.

Looks like the most beautiful painting ever.

I woke up on the sofa from an odd dream this morning.

I dreamt that I was with my sister and I think at our Grandmother’s house.

Someone had a truck.

There were large pieces of wood and odd pieces such as benches, garden tables, wooden flower pots.

She grabbed this nice wooden bench and ran off.

I didn’t know what to do so I grabbed a couple of flower pots.

It was really strange.

Perhaps my sister can figure this one out.

Oh, by the way Mr. Alvin has continued his 4:00 a.m. rising.

Not sure why.

Perhaps I should participate in some manner in the talks about “Daylight Savings Time.”

Really not sure why we really have to have a different time than others or the other way round.

Definitely conversation worthy.

Well almost time to hit the road.

Definitely going to wear a heavier coat this morning.

I did wear boots yesterday as I just could not bring myself to wear shoes.

One never knows.

Happy Friday to You All.

Enjoy the day.  Spread some kindness to every living creature you encounter today.

Special Hello to: my sister and I have a question for her …. did your son, my nephew ever receive the card that I sent to him?  I mailed it one week before his birthday.

Always, Carol & Alvin
