2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you this morning? Thursday January 28, 2021. You likely are wondering why I am writing so late when I should be at work. Well today is my late start. So as per usual the boy had me up much earlier at 3:00 a.m., I think and then again at 4:30 and after that we slept till 7:54 a.m. Nice to sleep in a little bit. I start work today at 11:00 a.m. and work until 7:00 p.m. I even after getting up shovelled the deck and picked up poop in my pj’s. Of course, I had on winter boots and my winter coat with a hood and mitts. I would be so silly to go outside in these frigid double digit minus temperatures. It has averaged with a windchill in the high twenties or so this week. Thankfully the long range forecast is for warmer temperatures. I cannot wait for us to get out and walk again. We are getting that cooped up feeling. Both of us. Anyway, it felt good to get one thing off my list before even dressed for the day.

I was reading a few minutes ago that Cloris Leachman had passed. So many well know folks have passed this past while and of course a great many folks only know to their family and friends. My heart and thoughts go out to all of them. Thank you for all your contributions and for being you.

The sky is clear this morning which is great meaning no more snow at least in the next bit. I shovelled the front yesterday after work. Of course it kept snowing so there is more snow to shovel. But shovelling is exercise and I really need more of that.

The house is quiet except for the tick tock of the clock in the main upstairs bathroom which is located next to this room, the clicking of the keys as I type and nothing else. Sometimes it is good to just close your eyes and take some deep breaths and relax. Actually we should be doing some concentrated breathing every day. So much that we should be doing. I think perhaps it is time to change up our routine. We have been getting up later in the morning now that I am working from home. In the beginning, I was up earlier but over time it has got to be later. If I got up earlier there would be time for exercise and perhaps some other writing. Baby steps so I am going to figure out some things to do and start to get up 30 minutes earlier and then build from there. No point in going all out as we all know that, that gets you nowhere. I do not wish to set myself up for failure, I wish to be successful. Working from home is great however in some respects it has made me lazy, most especially in the morning. Do not get me wrong, I do my job and I have put in many extra hours over the last months at home. I also keep my house clean and do everything else that needs to be done. I guess what I really mean is when I was working outside my house, I used to get up at 5:00 a.m. and stay up. I basically did the same things as I do now getting up at 6:45 a.m. Mm, thinking about it I also had travel time in there and I ate breakfast before I left the house. Anyway, I just need to start getting up 30 minutes earlier and doing some physical activity. It is most important especially in the winter time.

I guess that I have babbled long enough. Time to get dressed. Do more shovelling. Pick up the mail. Have breakfast.

Wishing you a great Thursday. I am so grateful for clear skies this morning and for the fresh snow. Finally the leaves are well covered. I can now distinguish between leaves and poop in the backyard. Excited to host a birthday party and get together for me and my girl friends and then pick up my new eyeglasses.

Continuing to live with kindness, respect, compassion and ever working on patience.

Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Brrr, it be COLD here in Edmonton and most of Alberta and the prairies.

We are breaking records for these cold temperatures.

Hardly something to brag about, I know.

Oh well, just grateful to have a nice warm house and office to spend my days and nights.

I believe that Mr. Alvin is in the throes of cabin fever.

He was up at 12:28 a.m. and then again around 2:30 and then at 4:00 a.m. …….. argh.

This is way too hard on my brain.

Poor boy, I feel it.

Well it is Tuesday.

Somehow this cold weather is playing with my brain.

Making an intelligent thought somehow difficult to articulate.

I yawn the minute that I leave the house for work in the morning.

It certainly gives us the feeling that we should be hibernating.

I am going to post some happy, photos of warmer weather.

Perhaps that will change my brain.

The key lime iced vanilla cupcakes that I had for my 62nd birthday.

Isn’t that funny that I would go straight to the food photo, the sweets.

I am sitting in that chair that has the blue blanket draped over the back.

Alvin is laying on that blue blanket beside me.

I do love this room.

Flowers from my friend’s house this past summer.

Going to post more as they are so pretty.

Alvin peering around the far corner.

They have such a beautiful yard.

I could live in it forever.

Friends enjoying the view outside.

Well time to hit the icy trail.

But first as you now know my routine, outside to pick up those precious parcels that Alvin left for me, earlier.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

Please be safe.

Please stay warm.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 15th day of January, 2017.

The sky is mottled with dark blue clouds but happily you can see clear blue sunny peering out.

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous ….. warm temperatures and no wind.

Alvin and I thoroughly enjoyed our walk after lunch.

We bumped into one of our friends and while we visited the pups played.

Alvin and Willow played hard …. Willow is about one year old and full of energy.

Willow is a girl (are you surprised).

He loves the girls.

That is for sure.

They had such a good time.

Alvin was certainly pooped after a good play.

I was glad that we happened upon them.

Thank you “K” and Willow.

So we are hoping that the weather today will be just enjoyable.

We are most happy for this change in the weather.

We both needed some fresh air and exercise.

I do get a bit on my walks to and from the bus but nothing is more enjoyable than a walk with a friend.

Chatting along the way.

He may not speak back in words that I can totally understand but he usually manages to make me understand in his Alvin way.

I love our walks.

So on this Sunday …… if you are experiencing a break in the winter deep freeze …. go outside.

Get some fresh air … and the exercise is a great bonus.

Happy Sunday Everyone.

Special Hello to: You …… you are a rockstar…..always keep that in mind.  Never forget how special you are.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 11th day of January, 2017.

Another day in the deep freeze but a reprieve is on the way.

I heard that the weekend and next week are supposed to be nice.

That would be great.

Finally we have had some sunshine.

It seems as though most of this winter has been overcast / foggy.

Even though it is cold – I was grateful to see the sun yesterday.

Not sure what happened last night but I was feeling out of sorts just after supper.

Dizzy to begin with so we headed for bed before 8:00 p.m.

Then went through nausea and the other end.

Alvin just happened to have a “chewie” (which was my mistake as I was not paying 100% attention).

Once he has it there is not much chance of taking it away from him.

So he chewed and chewed.

He wanted to go outside twice before 11:00 p.m., and all the while I am feeling dizzy.

Going up and down the stairs was not fun, I will say.

Happy to report that I am feeling great this morning.

So grateful that it only lasted a short while.

There are so many colds and flus going around …..

I want to stay in good health.

Well almost time to get this show on the road.

No road for this girl today.

Bundle up and go.

Keep warm – stay safe.

Note to self: treats are not to be around before bed.  (applies to dogs and children)

Have a happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 7th day of December, 2016.

This is Day Three of the Big Deep Freeze and only 1  1/2 weeks to go ( not 100% certain about that but that is what they forecasted a couple of days ago).

One never seems to warm up when it is almost – 30 degrees celsius with the windchill.

Any wind just seems to pierce through your layers and ping against your skin.

But I am not complaining – just stating the facts.

We, I am so grateful for a beautiful November.

We did have some in October actually quite a lot and rain.

What a mix.

Last night when we were taking a few minutes watching a show before bed.

Alvin rested his head on my lap.

I was so touched.

He never does that …..

He looked so darn cute.

Well here it is time to start bundling up for the walk to the bus in the deep freeze.

Not so bad if you have good layers on ……

This morning I am pulling out the big guns …. big warms boots, big mitts … the ones that are good for these temperatures.

I am prepared.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Talk to you later.

Special Hello to: my sister …. SKYPE soon….. Sunday?

Always, Carol and Alvin
