The Next Chapter

Good Morning! Looks like today and following days are cooling off a bit. So we shall have a reprieve from these 30+ days. I think of Mr. Alvin when it is hot and the many ways, I worked to keep him cool. A cool wet towel laid over him, the fans going full blast, opening the windows early in the morning before work and then closing the blinds to keep in the cool air. I cannot believe that it is going to be three months in a couple of weeks since he passed on. Sure miss the little guy and my life certainly is no where near the same without him. He was a good companion and the best little buddy one could ever ask for ever …..

I guess this is May 5th and CINCO DE MAYO.

I am so grateful that today is Friday. One day closer to retirement for some of us. Not rushing my life away or anything.

So yesterday I took the bus to my dental appointment. I really had no idea what was in store for me as I have never had crowns before and the prep work is a bit on the painful side. Well not really painful but lots of pressure as they prepped the two teeth for the crowns. Which is a whole deal, I am finding out. I will be getting two crowns on May 18th, 2023. YAY, me. I am so grateful that I have a good dentist. He really care and is gentle. All of his staff are very nice. There was only one that I had not worked with to this point. Yesterday I had Cheryl. She was wonderful. Explained every step and was so gentle and thoughtful. She helped the process in a huge way. The block that they place on the opposite side of your mouth from the “rubber dam/tent” was so big and my mouth is very small and it was causing me to gag. She realized and said we have a smaller one and got it right away. The assistant from Tuesday, did not pick up on that but she was clearly in training. I am also glad that I have good dental coverage and have a Health Spending Account so all the fees have been covered thus far. I will be paying for one crown come the 18th. On that appointment I will be having two front fillings replaced and two extraction all on the top. This should be fun. Better on the top though. Should heal more easily.

The sun is shining so brightly. I have a long list of things to do come this weekend. Time to get the deck washed, reorganize the garage and work on finishing washing the walls. The upstairs walls. Then will be the main floor. At least the blinds on the main floor were done recently.

The night before last the bargaining committee for my son-in-law’s employer settled. They did not come yesterday. I am grateful that they did not have to travel in the heat. Even with A/C in cars, not much fun for pups.

Well time to fly here. Have a wonderful Friday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities, coffee and forgiveness.

Always, Carol & Alvin (My Forever Angel)

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 1st day of FEBRUARY, 2019.

Well winter is now upon us.

Snow, snow and more snow.

Temperatures taking a dip.

Was out shovelling the back deck for the pups about an hour ago.

Should have time to do some of the front before my ride arrives.

So what does one do when the snow is blowing and the temperatures are a dipping?

Answer: You surround yourself with puppy love.

This was my Thursday night.

Now poor Mr. Alvin even though he loves his best bud Teddy very much, he cannot seem to get past Teddy having a chew treat.

Even though he has one of his own.

Teddy just laid there all calm and Alvin was not calm.

Despite my valiant efforts to calm him, he just had to wait until Teddy decided to let him have it.

What a friend.

Alvin, what a spoiled guy.

Alvin finally ended up with both …. Teddy is way too easy going.

Out of site out of mind??

Teddy on the bed with a chew treat AND

Mr. Alvin in the hallway by the bedroom.

Oh, isn’t life grand.

Thankfully the boys slept well last night.

I had a great afternoon ….. teeth cleaning …… received my permanent crown, now I feel like ROYALTY.

Then had supper once the freezing came out.

Had a lovely evening with the boys.

My furry four-legged boys.

Well time to leave for work.

So grateful to one of my co-workers for coming to pick me up.

Taking the bus home tonight will be pleasant, I am sure.

Glad we have food and a warm place to be this weekend.

Hunker down and keep warm.

Special Hello to: all my friends in the west …. hope you are safe and warm.

Always, Carol & Alvin & Teddy

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 26th day of January, 2019.

Last night it was raining and raining hard.

This morning it is +2 degrees celsius in the afternoon forecasted to be +5 or so.

Remembering it is Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA and almost the end of January, 2019.

There is a beautiful sunrise this morning and it started about 7:30 a.m. …. so nice to see sunrise earlier.

The sky is clearing the morning covering to display a beautiful palette of oranges, pinks and yellows.

So, so pretty.

Alvin is laying on his blue blanket beside me.

Last night I had a complete change of plans.

One of my friends messaged me about going out for supper.

She said that it was being paid for by our other friend’s husband.

Our friend’s husband” gave us a gift card to Original Joe’s, a restaurant in our neighbourhood so that we girls could go out and celebrate her birthday.

We were supposed to go out on the 1st of February which is her actual birthday but her husband would be working away from home and they have a young daughter.

Who is old enough to be alone after school but they don’t like leaving her alone at night.

Makes sense to me.

I was planning to do laundry, call my sister and do some cleaning as my cousins are coming for a visit and supper today.

So I contacted my sister and she was okay with changing to Sunday.

I thought laundry could wait.

So long story short, I went out with the girls for a nice night out with them.

I do not go out much so figured it was a good idea.

Late on Thursday I noticed that the growth on Alvin’s eye had changed colour so after work yesterday I called our Vet to see if I should bring him in today or if okay to wait

until his appointment next Saturday which is the 2nd of February.

The vet was busy so I asked if they could call us back as I wanted to take Alvin for a walk.

Said yes.

Just after we arrived back home and I had our coats off and Alvin’s paws dried off, the phone rang.

Dr. K wants to see him this morning to see if the growth needs to be removed or not.

I am thinking yes.

So we switched his appointment from next Saturday (his regular exam and vaccinations) to today at 10:00 a.m.

I am kind of nervous but I know that of course he will be okay.

I also contacted my cousin to let them know as this might push back their arrival time depending on how long we are at the vet.

So that has been my last less than 24 hours …..

All good things, right.

Always look at the silver lining.

If and I am quite certain it will be a yes, he needs the surgery … perhaps while he is under they will clean his teeth.

That would be a good thing.

I have a dental appointment next Thursday to put on the permanent crown.

Teddy comes for a sleepover on Wednesday night and for a day or so.

Never rains but it pours.

Thankfully the crown costs will be covered by my insurance which is great.

Just have to pay it up front and put in my claim.

The sun is almost up and I think that the load of laundry I put on 30 minutes or so ago should be done.

Might as well get the second one going before I have a shower.

Hopefully I can have a cup of coffee before we leave.

Keep us in your thoughts, at least positive energy for Mr. Alvin.

I am certain that all will be okay at the end of it all, but doesn’t hurt to have some positive energy streaming.

Special Hello to: my sister, thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin
