Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 26th day of December, 2018.

Wow, another Christmas onto the books.

I did not even make it up into my office to write my blog.

We slept in this morning until 7:00 a.m. and then back to the sofa until almost 9:00 a.m.

The sky is overcast and is a heavy grey colour as it sends snowflakes softly to the ground.

Just makes one want to sleep.

I would love to see sunshine.

Back to Christmas.

We had a wonderful Christmas.

Alvin and I hosted my daughter, son-in-law and two grand-pups Miss Aspen and not so baby anymore Baby Milo.

Somehow his handle seems to have stuck as both Aspen and Milo are close in age.

We also watched over Humphrey the Cat and Cinder the Gecko while their Mom was away with family for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve:  I hung out with Alvin, Teddy for a bit, Aspen and Milo and Humphrey and Cinder while their parents attended other family Christmas parties.

It was nice just vegging with the pups and in between checking in on Humphrey and Cinder.

We watched Christmas movies until my daughter and son-in-law arrived here about 11:00 p.m.

Then it was gift opening.

We always have fun opening gifts.

My favourite gift was a framed piece of my daughter’s artwork.

It is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait to hang it on my bedroom wall alongside another one of her creations.

I think that I am going to request more and fill the wall.

The pups seemed to be the winners in the gift category this year as the main floor was covered in toys.

Everyone was tuckered out so after gifts we retired to bed.

then it was CHRISTMAS DAY.

Christmas Day is usually quiet.

I made the hot CHEESE DIP again and it was a hit.

We nibbled here and there throughout the day on veggies, mini quiches, hot cheese dip & bread and oranges.

My daughter and I took Aspen and Alvin for a nice walk.

It was snowing quite heavily then and we looked like snowmen when we arrived back home.

There were phone calls made to family and friends.

I oven roasted two turkey breasts which was a nice change along with whipped potatoes, gravy, stuffing (just stove top), corn, carrots, homemade cranberry jelly (yup, I did) and beet pickles.

We had some sugar cookies and fudge for dessert – although no one was very hungry.

I am so grateful that my kids live close by and that we spend Christmas together.

After supper we watched the Netflix movie “The Christmas Chronicles” with Kurt Russell.

I had watched it before but was happy to see it again.

The day just seemed to evaporate into history.

The kids packed up and in a blink of an eye were back home by about 9:00 p.m.

Alvin and I tried to stay up but by just after 10:00 p.m. we were in bed – snoozing away.

Now today is Boxing Day.

As I am not one to hit the stores for Boxing Day sales, I will just spend a quiet day at home.

I can hear a doggie barking ….. would someone please let him or her into the house.

Oh, I have a story.

I was speaking to my friend from Regina and happened to be looking out the window when I saw a dog run by on the opposite side of the street.

Clearly not on a leash.

I relayed the situation to my daughter and we watched to see if anyone was out looking for him/her.

Then we saw a truck turning and stopped a guy got out.

Then there were about six people on foot running after this poor doggie.

Who just kept running as they chased him.

We were so relieved that the dog had family out looking for him/her.

They finally got him….. happy ending.

Well I guess that I should get this show on the road.

Still snowing.

Dog still barking.

I am breathing.

Alvin is patiently waiting in the hallway.

Guess that I should get dressed or NOT.

Happy Boxing Day.

Special Hello to:  all my “sisters” out there ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of April, 2018.

The sun is shining but there are some clouds scattered throughout the sky.

There is a strong wind blowing.

Woke up with a headache this morning.

Had been invited to one of my friend’s homes for morning coffee and visit but decided to cancel this time.

Alvin needs a hair cut and bath.

That needs to be done.

No excuses there.

We have had a good weekend.

Laundry and some cleaning was accomplished.

We enjoyed our walks.

So nice to have most of the sidewalks dry now.

Finally.

Was happy that yesterday was not an all day rain fest.

In fact it did not start raining until well into the afternoon.

Alvin and I beat the rain and had a lovely walk.

We saw one of our neighbours who lives on the opposite side of the street.

He was raking his lawn.

We still have snow and ice on ours.

Funny how that is.

Well time to get going.

I can hear a big dog barking to the south of us.

Oh, how I wish that people would not leave their dogs outside for long periods of time.

Have an awesome Sunday.

Special Hello to: my friends and family.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day……

Well Good Morning ….. today is Tuesday, January 31st, 2012.

What a gorgeous morning …. the sky is clear and the last of the morning stars were in view.

Once I am out of bed and up …. I really love the wee morning hours.

I enjoy those precious moments outside standing on the deck waiting for Alvin ….

Taking deep breathes and looking up into the early morning sky.

I take advantage of those moments by preparing for the day ahead.

Visualizing and focusing on positive energy flow.

Of course, I somedays get sidetracked  by taking in all that surrounds me like the stars in the sky,  or a neighbour’s dog barking.

But I think you get the idea.

Often times we rush around so much that we forget that we hold the power inside of us to create our days ….

Life is so much easier and fun if we work on creating our days ahead of time.

I am still working on the process, and somedays things work better than others.

But I will say this …. when I let something “get to me” ….. like doing a task less than perfect (I am learning a new job) …. it really can spiral out of control.

My confidence level drops.  My “ego” …. Yes, I have one…… we all do.  When it gets bruised ….. yikes.

It is so important to keep that positive energy and focus about you at all times.

Of course, there are times like when you are learning a new job ….. that you might as I do find it “not so easy” but I try.

We are all human …… we are perfect as us …… we hold the power ….

We can do whatever we need to do…….

So whenever you are feeling “human” and not that “super power” …… if you can remove yourself from the situation (go to the bathroom) …..

Be by yourself …. breathe deeply  for a few moments ….. plant a smile on your face …… and go back.

Sometimes we just need time to re-focus our thoughts.

Always important to feel “good” ……. no matter what is going on around you.

As it goes ….. all you need is practise……

Have a great day.

Special Hello: to all those folks out there starting or learning a new job.  We must remember to breathe.

Always, Carol

P.S. Alvin was feeling a bit left out so ……
