Last Half 2022 – August

Good Morning ALL! What a wonderful morning! We were up at 4:30 to go outside and then back to the sofa until 6:30, I cannot believe that Mr. Alvin slept until 6:30. Then we were up at he had his breakfast and then outside for a few minutes before returning inside. The sky was slightly overcast at that point and the air was cool and refreshing. I could have laid on the deck and just been so comfortable. Once inside the house we “hit” the sofa for some more zzz’s because it is Saturday and I was still tired. Next thing I know it was 8:30 so up we got. The sky still overcast with rain in the forecast for this afternoon, I thought that I would just get dressed and we would head out for a walk. So upstairs, I went to get dressed and afterward happened to look out the window and the pavement was dark, say “what?” Well shortly after that it really started to rain and now it is pouring as the rain bounces off the roof of the garage. We desperately needed some moisture but I worry and wonder about the farmers and their crops. Now the sky is that foreboding gray which makes it appear that the rain is here to stay. So much for getting out for a walk this morning or perhaps it will just stop as quickly as it started. I am concerned about Mr. Alvin as he did not poop since last night and it is not fun going out in pouring rain. I guess we will figure it out as usual, grab that trusty umbrella and hope for the best. It is windy outside. I certainly do not wish to be Alberta’s version of Mary Poppins, lol. Now that would be a sight. Feels like the time for a cup of hot coffee and relaxing. Will be nice to be able to do some cleaning and things with the temperature decreasing in the house. I think that someone is squeaking so likely has to go downstairs so this will be quick.

Last night only one of my friends was able to attend the potluck as the other had fallen ill. I hope that she is feeling better today. We, two had a good time. Way too much food but lots of leftovers so no cooking this weekend or even Monday so that makes me happy. Next week is forecasted to be hot again. So not really looking forward to that. One more thing about the potluck, I should have been clear that I was bringing supper items and not just dessert and beverage. For next time, lol.

Okay, sorry we have to go.

I wish you sunshine and rainbows. Beautiful walks with a friend or your pup.

Happy Day.

I can hear thunder in the distance.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Life is what you make it.

Today is wonderful and I am so happy for the rain. It is still raining.

I guess I should check the main floor windows especially the kitchen one as it opens out.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Beautiful morning …. no breeze but the air is cool so I have the windows open before heading out to work.

With the blinds closed – the house will stay cool most of the day.

We walked right after work last night in the rain.

Only did half the walk and then later after supper the sun came out.

But we did enjoy a nice walk in the rain.

Only got a bit wet.

Thankfully not a downpour.

But then again we wouldn’t go if it was raining hard.

There is something healing about walking in a nice rain.

Touching nature.

Looks like our services will be in high demand over the next little while.

Master Teddy is coming Thursday night until Saturday night.

My daughter asked if their two could stay with us Saturday till Monday.

Then next week the Humphrey.

YAY, my favourite thing to do …. is to be surrounded by the pups and the cat.

All of our four-legged fur babies.

Looks like the sun is peeping through the morning cloud cover.

Always a good thing to see.

Only a short time until my beloved sister comes for a visit.

She is my only sister.

My “little sis” …. my younger sister.

I am so excited to see her again.

We are going to have so much fun.

My sister, my daughter and I are going to take a short road trip.

YAY.

Then my sister and I will be joined by another brother to go and see our other brother.

Try and say that five times fast.

Not this gal.

So excited to be blessed to have this time together with my family.

I love our sibling get togethers.

Nice to catch up.

Looks like this girls road trip is going to be an annual event.

Happy about that.

Feeling so grateful to be surrounded by great family and friends.

Feeling so grateful that I, we will have all our fur-babies coming to see us over the next week and a bit.

Feeling so grateful that my daughter is giving me a ride home tonight (also going to COSTCO).

Feeling so grateful for the moisture and moderate temperatures.

Feeling so grateful to have Mr. Alvin by my side.

Feeling so grateful that I get up and swing my legs to the floor, this morning, and all others.

With kindness and respect I shall enter this day and do my best all day long.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Bright sunny morning with just a few clouds dotting the sky.

Yesterday was a glorious day weather wise.

In the morning it was bright and sunny beginning to warm.

Afternoon came around with rain clouds and rain.

One minute it was bright and sunny and the next there was a gentle downpour.

This went on and off all afternoon.

Alvin and I managed to score a wonderful walk in between showers.

Although I would not mind getting caught in a gentle rain shower.

Alvin, would be okay except would have to make certain that his ears were dry on the inside.

He is prone to ear problems so have to be careful.

On our walk we came across several families of geese.

I could tell as there were at least three different sized goslings.

So cute.

We walked by them and checked out their cuteness from the sidewalk.

I was prepared to move onto the grass on the other side.

But they did not seem to mind us as all.

One of the Papas and I will call the goose that as I really have no idea if it was Momma or Papa …. he stared me down as we walked by.

The air was so fresh and clean after the rain.

Felt so good …..

Great walk.

After arriving home I decided that it was a good time to stake up one of my plants in the front flower bed.

Alvin helped me find a stake in the garage.

He stayed in the house to supervise as I fixed the plant out front.

When I was out there …. our friends from down the street … spotted us and popped by for a visit.

J showed me Jazmin’s hair cut ….. she looked so good.

Jazmin is an elder dog with a heart condition, she is doing so good at the moment and I hope for a long while longer.

My friend helped hold the plant while I tied some garden twine to the stake.

Tonight or tomorrow night I have to transplant one of the lilies as the ferns are taking over the front garden.

Will move the lily to a different spot in the garden.

Well almost time to go and catch the bus to work.

Carpool is back in business for tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Will be nice to get home in good time once again.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Monday.

I hope that the sun is shining and if you need a rain shower, I hope that one comes your way.

I hope that love and kindness surround you on this day and always.

Happy Monday to you ALL.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 11th day of July, 2018.

The sky is overcast but there are patches of clear sky hiding just beneath the rain clouds.

Last night the heavens opened and boy did we ever get some rain.

So happy that my flowers and one tomato plant are enjoying all this rain.

They lose a few petals with the strength of the rain pelting against them but in the end look better than ever.

So enjoying my flowers this year as I do actually every year.

The deck looks great.

The roses that line the walk entering our neighbourhood park are so gorgeous.

That fragrance stops you in your tracks as you walk between two rows of the pinkness that are those “wild roses.”

I wished that I could bottle that exact combination of pure bliss.

I could stand there forever.

Alvin likes the roses but for another reason.

He usually tries to pee on the bush.

I do tell him to be careful of the thorns.

Does he listen?

Sometimes.

The roses seem to thrive regardless of how many times he has peed on them.

Poor roses.

Last night the carpool dropped me off at 4:35 p.m. – so as it was too early for supper – I decided to grab the boy and head out for a walk.

It was perfect.

By that time the skies were filling with rain clouds big and perfect and the temperature had started to drop.

It was great.

Alvin decided just over the half way point that it was time to head back for home.

When he makes up his mind, that is it.

So back home.

Great to have two walks in the same day.

The evening was relatively quiet.

My friends called about the boards that I need to fix my fence in the back yard.

“N” wanted to come and see to ensure that he was selecting the proper ones.

Guess what, I even measured it perfectly (on Sunday all by myself).

Happy about that.

Not easy to measure something by yourself.

Although the measuring tape is metal and is kind of weighted at the end.

The training at work went well and was shorter than we first had been advised.

So practice over the next couple of days.

The breeze is helping to cool off the house as I have all of the windows open at this time.

It sure helps.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I am feeling just a tad tired as the storm kind of kept my up last night.

Just after I put my book down last night and turned out the light there was a major BOOM of THUNDER causing both Alvin and I to jump up.

At the same time.

I hope that you all have an awesome Wednesday.

Two more to go and then it is the weekend.

Wednesdays are nice …. mid week and all.

Special Hello to: my daughter who always makes me smile.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of July, 2018.

There is a nice cool breeze coming in through the office window as I type these words.

The sky is overcast with rain clouds.

Yesterday Master Teddy spent the day with us.

We had a quiet day just me and the pups.

Enjoying the thunderstorms off and on all day long.

One minute there was thunder and lightning and downpours.

The next minute the sun was shining and it was lovely.

We enjoyed every minute of it.

My flowers are doing well.

Even with the constant pounding of the rain.

Just some photos from our day.

Pups and flowers.

A great combination.

Happy Saturday it was.

Now after having a quiet, relaxing day it is time to get some work done.

Finish laundry, bake some cranberry oatmeals muffins with perhaps some raspberries, some house cleaning, update my financial records, have a shower, go for a walk.

That kind of thing.

STUFF that needs to be done.

The house is quiet this morning with only me and Mr. Alvin.

The boys together can sometimes be noisy.

Alvin actually played with one of his toys yesterday.

The boys played tug-of-war for about 4 seconds but it was cute.

Then each one ran after the toy when I threw it across the room.

They are good for the soul, those boys.

Made me smile and once or twice gave me a moment of “argh.”

Mostly made me smile.

You might notice that Master Teddy has a bandage on one of his front paws.

His Momma told me that after his bath on Friday he ran around like a house on fire, like he usually does (as does Mr. Alvin) and somehow managed to tear his “dew claw.”

So his Momma took him to the Vet where they put on some antiseptic and clipped it off so that it would not catch on anything.

Then bandaged so that it would heal (get hard).

His Mom brought the roll of bandage over – just in case it got wet.

The bandage is the coolest thing ever.

It is gauze but is sticky so it does not require tape or pins.

Not really sticky as in glue but it stays in place.

Poor little guy.

That must have hurt.

Well I had better get this show on the road, so to speak.

Have an awesome day.

I hope that you are able to spend some time relaxing whether with someone or one your own.

Enjoy this day.

Special Hello to:  my daughter and sister, two of my favourite women on the planet.  Kind and good and supportive.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 23rd day of June, 2018.

A beautiful morning.

The sun is shining and there is a breeze which at this time remains cool.

We had a nice “storm” last night with a good rain and lots of thunder.

Thankfully the pups are not frightened of the those loud claps of thunder.

We managed to get a walk in before the downpour.

When we left the house it had not felt hot until we were half way through our walk and that was when Alvin decided it was time to go home.

So home we went.

We had a good night.

I watched a couple of movies and played with the pups.

All three of us slept great last night.

We were all up at 6:20 a.m. – YAY.

Breakfast was odd.

Teddy ate some of Alvin’s food and not his own and Alvin ate Teddy’s.

No harm no foul.

Everyone ate.

Teddy is not a breakfast eater for the most part so having had some of Alvin’s at least he ate.

Tonight I will make him the remainder of his food for supper before his Momma comes to pick him up.

We have had a lovely time.

One minor accident this morning but it was fixable.

Things happen.

Alvin has his regular appointment at the Vet this morning at 10:30 so Teddy will be coming with us.

Almost time for coffee (after I make it of course).

I can almost smell it.

Today will be laundry and cleaning.

THE NORWEX order arrived yesterday so I will sort it today to be delivered.

We are most grateful to live this life.

There are a few “downs” along the way but when I see what other people are living with and through; I cannot help but feel so much peace and gratitude.

I have been blessed with good health, supportive and wonderful family and friends.

I have a house, yes my very own home in partnership with the bank at the moment but in time I will OWN it.

I have me Alvin, who is the best partner one could ever ask for..

I have a full-time job and several part-time ones that I enjoy.

I can write to you every day.

I can dream or not.

I can be me.

So as we travel down the road during our days on this earth – if we are able to just be ourselves – our true selves, that is the most wonderful blessing of all.

Happy Saturday Everyone.

Back to my Saturday, coffee, the pups and LAUNDRY ……

Special Hello to: Everyone who takes the time to read my words, it means so much to me.  I hope that perhaps some day you learn a little something but most of all I hope that they bring a smile to your

face and warmth to your heart.

Always, Carol & Alvin

The boys:  Teddy and Alvin – enjoying a chew treat.

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 5th day of July, 2014.

I hope that everyone in North America had a great week of celebrations.

We celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1st and on July 4th our friends and neighbours to the south, the United States celebrated their birthday.

A full week.  Eating.  Fireworks.  YAY.

There were a great many of our fellow North Americans that have been caught in flooding due to the enormous never ending rainfall, also forest fires, hurricanes and tornadoes.

We hope that they are all safe and receiving help where needed.

Last night or actually earlier this morning we had quite the light show.

I am reminded of the power of Mother Nature.

One moment it was still – the next what seemed like torrential downpour.

Then it ended.

Then the thunder and the lightning.

A couple of times it was so sudden that I jumped up in bed.

I wonder how Alvin did ….. he is at his sister’s house.

It is overcast here this morning and windy.

Well time to get the laundry going, start moving things to the garage for the garage sale next weekend.

I am preparing the house for my daughter and son-in-law and my two grand-puppies who will be living with me and Alvin while their new home is being built.

It is a great time to donate, recycle, sell and give away items no longer needed.

I am so excited.

I have most of the upstairs done.

Just have to rearrange the basement and the garage somewhat.

Also string the bracelets for the wedding jewellery as next Saturday we are having a “jewellery fitting.”

I love the sound of those words.

I have heard of dress fitting but never jewellery fitting.

Sounds appropriate.

On this somewhat dreary but exciting day nonetheless, I hope you are happy and safe.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: my sister …… we have to talk …… and catch up.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 5th day of June, 2014.

Here I almost went again …. started to key May instead of June.

I am not quite in the month of June yet.

Should be soon ……. laughing to myself.

The sky is overcast and it is has been raining here a lot over the past several days.

Last night Alvin and I managed to sneak in a lovely walk between downpours.

We have impeccable timing – I should say.

I sure wished that I knew what Alvin was thinking.

It would be so nice if he could talk.

Er, maybe most times, anyway.

He always seems to have a lot to say.

Sounds like there has been more crazy weather all over the world.

Our neighbours to the south have been plagued with fires and tornadoes.

Other neighbours on the planet – suffered from earthquakes.

I am not sure if there are more or if it is just that “social media” and regular media are quick on the bandwagon and you hear about things in real time.

Another reason that I do not regularly listen to the news.

They should have specific time for news that is “happy, good” …… we need to hear more good things over social media and regular media.

How can we see the silver lining in things if all we hear about is death and destruction, crime and injustice for victims?

Well here we go again …. almost time to leave for work.

The time flies in the morning.

I do so much enjoy this time laying out my thoughts and writing.

This is my life.

Today is my last work day for this week at the office and my second last Friday off before we switch back to no Fridays off.

I will miss them.

Great weekend coming up ….. lots of coffee dates (visits with my girl friends and neighbours) …. shopping for “beads” to make wedding jewellery for another custom order.

I hope that you have a great Thursday.

Let us try to always see the silver lining in whatever comes our way today and always.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 24th day of June 2013.

What a gorgeous morning ….. Alvin and I thoroughly enjoyed our walk this morning.

The moon still being displayed high in the sky.

Just before I left work last night it started to pour (heavy heavy rainfall).

It rained and it rained.

By the time I got home I was pretty much soaked.

This morning on our walk you could see the tell tale signs of a heavy downpour.

The lakes were once again joined together and up over some of the trees that line the shores.

The water had gone over the sidewalks in places leaving behind a slick muddy residue (which I slipped in my “crocs.”

The lakes are man made and are in pretty much all of the new neighbourhoods in our city.

They are surrounded by grassy areas …. very pretty.

Also I noticed on the sidewalks remnants of a rain were “earthworms.”

I was surprised that Alvin did not pay any attention to them.

We could really use some sunshine.

Also the one day that I do not place my flower pots in shelter by the house was the day that it rained hard.

They took quite a beating but I think that they will come back.

It is not surprising how much damage a heavy rainstorm can do.

So here we go the beginning of another work week.

I think that Mondays have a whole new meaning.

Used to be that it was the beginning but now with people working two jobs and so many different work schedules …… Monday is just Monday.

I hope that you have a lovely week.

Stay dry and I wish sunshine for us all.

We desperately needed the moisture but with summer here now the sun would be nice.

Special Hello to: all those folks travelling over the summer ….. make certain that you always check ahead for weather and be prepared.

Always, Carol and Mr. Alvin …..
