Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Well we are one week into the second half of this NEW YEAR.

It certainly has been a roller coaster kind of ride thus far.

Who would have thought on New Year’s Eve when everyone is thinking about the New Year – that we would have a worldwide Pandemic?

Not me that is for sure.

This year has been stressful, caused anxiety I would say for most people on the planet.

Of course, certainly some more than others.

Children were disrupted in their school  year.

Likely the middle school aged children were the happiness to be away from school.

The little ones and the ones graduating not so much.

Although I believe that most schools did offer some online schooling which was great.

Parents losing their jobs or working from home adding to the household stress.

Children and their parents home together, 24 / 7 for months.

Not something we see everyday.

Then there are single folks and folks without children.

Some working and others not.

Whether you have a house full or not, we have all given our heads a shake in disbelief as the days pass.

By now most of us that are working from home have settled in, I have for sure.

Alvin loves having me at home and I really enjoy being here with him.

We have somewhat of a routine although I find that I am changing things up a bit here and there.

Which is likely a good thing.

Parents with school age children are likely happy that it is summer vacation.

Now they just have to worry about keeping them entertained for the summer months.

Although that is a word when used in this context, I am not fond of.

Children should be learning to do things on their own to some degree.

Bringing forth that imagination and such.

But this is a topic for another day.

Reading …. they should definitely be reading more.

This pandemic has given the human race much to ponder and consider.

I believe that we have learned so much and have even more to learn for the future.

The nature world has certainly enjoyed the respite from us pain in the butt, human beings.

On this Tuesday, we should pause and be think about things that we can do to make life for all.

Picking up trash.

Keeping your yard and neighbourhood clean.

Planting trees.

Being kind and respectful to yourself, to others and to nature and the environment.

Well time to head out on the long tiring commute to my workstation.

It is oh so far …….. away …… so far …… at least six inches ….. oh my!!

Enjoying my days and nights with me Alvin.

With kindness and respect,

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. thought there was a storm a brewing last night so I carefully placed most of  my potted plants into the garage.

What – no storm!

Oh well, better to be safe than sorry.

AND

I somehow managed to break off the arm on my glasses while doing yoga after work yesterday.

HOW?

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 7th day of January, 2019.

Lots of snow outside this morning.

Poor Alvin did not stray too far from the back door.

I see shovelling in my immediate future.

Will try and do some shovelling before I leave for work.

Especially on the deck for Alvin.

I looked out the front window as I opened the blinds and it looks so pretty.

The freshly fallen snow.

As the street lamps shed their beams on the snow flakes they shone like beautiful diamonds.

So beautiful.

A great sight to behold early in the morning.

Yesterday Mr. Alvin and I had a lovely walk before I headed out to the baby shower.

It was wonderful.

I had not been to a baby shower in years other than at work.

There were over 20 ladies/women/girls; a table full of food and she was adorned with many beautiful gifts.

The new baby girl due to arrive in early February will not need for anything.

My friends, the proud Grandparents are leaving for Hawaii about the same time and are hoping that the baby arrives before they leave.

The trip has been booked for over one year.

They have already made temporary arrangements just in case …. the baby GIRL is late …… on time …… (depends on who you are – looking at it all).

They will not leave without saying hello to the newest grandchild.

Their daughter and son-in-law did not think (according to doctors) that they would ever have a baby.

SURPRISE.

Such a great story.

During the couple of hours or so I was at the shower; I chatted with two ladies that I did not know and also a neighbour of my friend whom I did know.

So it was great.

Lots of conversations.

Learning new things.

One of the gals had even in her early years applied at the same office as I am currently working but did not get the job as she did not have enough “experience.”

My how times have changed – now it is all about the education of which she has.

Anyway, time to get going here and do some shovelling.

Might as well get some more exercise.

Always have a few sets of stairs each morning before leaving the house.

Also watched the GOLDEN GLOBES last night.

I most especially enjoyed the award that Carol Burnett received.

The award will now be in her name for lifetime contributions to television.

VERY COOL, I love her.

By far one of the funniest people on the planet.

Okay time to fly.

Have an awesome Monday.

Special Hello to: Carol Burnett, I adore you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 5th day of September, 2018.

Wow, mid first week of September 2018.

That came fast.

I was at home under the weather yesterday – so I did not post on my blog.

I hope that life is finding you well, energized and happy.

I am doing well.

Alvin and I had a nice walk last night.

Always makes a person feel better to get some fresh air.

My carpool is on vacation this week so catching the bus this morning.

Back to the normal bus schedule now as the kids are back to school.

I will catch the earlier one which gets me to work about twenty minutes early.

Alvin is semi curled up on his blue blanket on the office floor beside me.

He is like an attachment.

When I am at home – he is never far away.

Oh, how I love this little guy.

The temperature seems to be warming and ended up being warmer than original forecast.

Today mid to late teens so that will be nice.

Alvin is noticeably licking his paws now.

Not sure if the new “egg shell membrane” medicine is working better or worse than the glucosamine.

I was watching a bit of a show in between sleeping yesterday and caught Jamie Lee Curtis speaking about her life.

She said that she never was particularly good at school or sports and was not considered to be pretty.

She just went by unnoticed until as a young adult she started to do the things that she was interested in acting and later writing.

Jamie just published her 12th children’s book.

Very inspirational.

Well almost time to grab my things and my shoes and hit the trail to the bus.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

We have to remember that having all the education in the world does not guarantee you happiness UNLESS you are passionate about your chosen path.

I am not saying that education is not good nor am I saying that it does not help.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 7th day of March, 2017.

Well the forecast is for a cold snap.

We are well below seasonal temperatures for March.

Not great news but it is March and one month closer to spring.

Officially spring in a couple of weeks or so.

This morning while getting ready for work I was thinking about “dreams.”

Not the dreams you have while you are sleeping but the ones you have when you are young for your future.

I always wanted to be a nurse, published writer, mother to four children (two boys and two girls) and to be married.

The white picket fence with the beautiful two- storey house – the dream.

I could see us all going on family vacations.

I could see my children further their education, get married and have babies.

I could see “us” being retired and living the life of riley.

So what went wrong or what changed.

Nothing is ever really wrong – we just take a different path.

One thing changes and everything changes.

So I am not a nurse, I do write a bit, I am a mother to one amazing daughter and one puppy named Alvin and I am single.

My daughter did further her education and went for her dream at that time (which I am grateful for), she is married and I have grand-pups.

Perhaps that is where the number four came from as they have had/have two boys and two girls.

I do not have a white picket fence but my house is a beautiful two-storey half duplex.

There has been the occasional family vacation.

Retirement is a long way off.

Different direction – different dreams.

The reality is you never know what life will bring to you.

Or where life will take you.

Even if you are super positive and live a life of doing kind and wonderful things the reality is you never know.

All you can do is live your life and work towards those dreams/goals.

Live each moment and day to the best.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my daughter who teaches me things daily.

Always, Carol and Alvin
