It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and another Monday Morning.

That is a good thing actually a great thing.

This may be the most unpopular day of the week.

But the fact that you are reading this post and I am writing it are a great thing.

I hope that this finds you in good health.

What did you do this weekend?

As you know I had Friday off after a quiet celebration on Thursday for my daughter’s 40th Birthday.

I did the normal chores like laundry and some cleaning.

Alvin and I had the most glorious walk yesterday the first full one in as many days.

I was blessed to have had a girls night on Saturday with my young friends.

Spoke on the phone with other friends over the weekend.

Did you have a quiet or noisy weekend?

Did you stay home and watch movies?

Did you colour a picture in your daughter or son’s colouring book?

Did you play board games?

Did you go for a walk with your doggie?

Did you make a bit pot of soup, just because?

Well whatever you were doing as long as you are in good health, that is the most important thing of all.

Yesterday I started putting my papers together to do my taxes.

So shouldn’t take me too long.

Guess what?

Big news.

Alvin slept through the night.

I would say this is the first time in weeks, months and possibly years.

He did not get up in the middle of the night nor did he stir before the alarm went off.

You may think that perhaps I did not hear him but I always hear him.

Actually I got up once but did not check the time, assuming it was middle of the night.

He appears to be okay nothing out of the norm.

That is my big news.

Well it is almost time to head downstairs.

Today we will find out about work.

Are we working through this or is the office closing.

We are closed to the public which is a good thing.

Please make sure that if you have an elderly neighbour or someone who is not easily mobile, that you call by and see what they need.

Take them some bathroom tissue and some food items.

Think of others during this time and all times.

Please be kind and respectful.

Please think of others.

We need each other during this time and always.

Time to head downstairs.

Pick up the poop.

Grab my lunch and stuff.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Be kind and respectful.

Be well.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 6th day of February, 2015.

I almost keyed January …. I guess that means it flew by.

Winter has come again to our City and Province and most of Canada.

Yesterday was blustery and quite a lot of snow accumulated over the course of the day.

The forecast is for more today, as well.

Waiting for the bus after work was an unwelcome treat ….. just a hint of sarcasm.

Really it was not too bad but not great.

Thank goodness for the bus shelters.

I gave up standing in the blowing snow after 15 minutes and popped inside.

Nothing like stinging snow to brighten your afternoon.

Okay enough complaining.

I was quite happy when the bus did arrive only to find that it was stuffed literally to the rafters ….

there was only enough for one person to enter via the back door and three people got on board…

then the doors wouldn’t close.

I did ask if anyone could wait as I was on my way to my other job but they all ignored me.

How nice is that?

If someone would have asked that of me ….. I certainly would have let them.

Really what is happening to our society that our manners have totally fallen by the wayside.

Food for thought.

Even a woman in the bus shelter commented on how she noticed no one will move for an elderly person or someone that needs a seat.

To wrapped up in their own selves and comfort that they do not help or sometimes likely even notice.

Well that is my rant for the day ….. all out of my system ….. so I can get on with my day.

I know that all of you would give up your seat to an elderly person or someone in need of the seat or standing room at the back.

I guess the high point was that the next bus which was late ( they were all late ) had room for all of us to sit.

I got to the mall with just enough time to grab something to eat for supper and eat before starting work.

The manager was kind enough to let me start a couple of minutes late …..

I am one of those people who always likes to be early ……

Next time word to self …. CHILL….

It always works out …… being late once in a lifetime is okay …… only thing was supper ….

I just thought might be a good idea to eat before working until 10:00 p.m.

I hope that you have a great day.

I hope that anyone you encounter will have manners.

Kindness goes a long way in the world.

Special Hello to: all those folks who give up their seat on the bus, who hold open a door, who help someone carry heavy bags up the stairs …

Thank you as well.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 3rd day of February, 2015.

Warming up.

Not sure if spring is 6 weeks away or 6 months away…. just kidding.

I am sure it will come when Mother Nature thinks it is time!

This morning I am reminded that one should always surround themselves with the things that they love.

If you love the colour turquoise then paint a couple of walls in your bedroom and or living room that particular shade.

If you love photography …. have a hallway filled with family photos or ones from your travels.

If you love baking then make some extra cookies and deliver them to an elderly neighbour or working single parent.

If you love to cook then once again make something extra and deliver to someone who works multiple jobs …. someone that would really appreciate a home-cooked meal.

If you love to write ….. send off a newsy letter to a loved one who lives far away.

Perhaps you love to be around children, and have none ….. then offer to help watch family/friend’s children so the parent(s) can go out.

If you love to walk then check with a neighbour who owns a dog who may need help getting their beloved that extra exercise.

There are so many things that one can do …. to help by doing things and surrounding ourselves with things that you love.

If you love to clean then volunteer to help the elderly or go out and pick up the trash in your neighbour.

If you have extra time … shovel some sidewalks ….

So many things ….. so much love.

Just be the person you love to be without worrying about what others think.

Surround yourself with things you love.

Live your life doing what you love to do.

Have the best day ever.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” who is one of the best people I know.

Always, Carol and  Alvin
