2021

Good Morning ALL! Just back a few minutes ago from a nice early morning walk before the heat of the day. There is a bit of a breeze so it is perfect for a walk. While out on the walk I picked up a few pieces of trash so I figured not only did we get some exercise, we also did some community service. Right! The wild roses are blooming by the entrance to the park so we, rather I stopped to give them a sniff. My favourite fragrance next to summer rain and freshly cut grass. So gorgeous. So pretty. Today is my late shift that is why I left the post for a bit later than usual and decided to walk first. We went to bed later than usual last night and two hours later at midnight, guess who woke up and it wasn’t me? So off downstairs we went and outside. He had to pee so then back upstairs to bed. Next time we were up was 4:30 (man, did I feel that). So I gave him his glucosamine chew and his breakfast and then outside and then back to sleep for a bit on the sofa. To be honest, I had set the alarm on my phone for 6:15 but somehow I just could not do it so I set it for 6:30 and we were up at 6:45. Oh well, I am not perfect. When I am tired, I find it hard to get up unless I have no choice. Given the choice, well you know what I did. Oh well, no matter. We got our walk in and the coffee is perking and I am writing this post. Yesterday when I finished writing my post, I noticed that it was at 999, wondering if it is at the 1000 mark now. How exciting! I cannot believe that number. Guess I need to step up this post. I used to write more about different things but somehow fell of that wagon. Perhaps it is time to get going and start writing more poetry. Some crafting ideas. How about organizational ideas? I love to organize and people tell me that I am quite good at it.

Oh, I just got a waft of that freshly brewed coffee. I think that I will be able to enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck this morning as I do not start work until 11:00 a.m.

Yesterday my daughter stopped by after an appointment, she stopped and picked us up a few items from the grocery store. She is so kind and generous to her Momma. I love spending time with my girl.

I am grateful for the morning walk.

I am grateful for all my dear friends and family.

I am grateful for our good health.

I am grateful for all the people that we will meet.

I am grateful for our beautiful home.

I am grateful that the roses are blooming and smelling so fragrant.

I am grateful for my/our life.

Well somebody is acting up so better sign off for now.

I wish you a great Tuesday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Almost Christmas 2020

Good Morning ALL. Well we did it, only one sleep to go until Christmas Eve Day. I am so excited. The plan is on for my kids to come for Christmas. There was a possibility that they may not but it has been confirmed they are coming. Alvin and I are over the moon. Our pod will grow by four, my daughter, son-in-law and the grandpups Aspen and Milo. We are happy. Today is my late start and I am happy to report that the two of us that are not on vacation have managed to keep the mail current to this point and hopefully the phones will remain quiet today so that we are able to do this for our coworkers. What a great Christmas gift that would be. I am hopeful. Also today Alvin’s BF Teddy and his little sister Kobi are coming to spend the day. I told Alvin last night and I would like to think he understood that they were coming this morning. He will be over the moon to have one last visit with his buddies before Christmas break. Christmas break will be quiet as we will remain on strict restrictions. The only visitors in the house we are allowed will be our POD which is my daughter, son-in-law and grandpups. I am pleased that we are allowed to have someone although I have said this before – I would be okay with just Alvin for some time. If that time alone meant that the virus would disappear hopefully forever. We would still see people when they dropped off food and stuff and can always video chat. There are ways not to be completely alone if you choose. Back to Christmas. Are you ready? Food in the fridge and pantry? Baking done? Gifts wrapped? Movies selected and games? I am quite certain that you are. I am except for changing the bedding on our bed as the kids will have the master bedroom, changing out the towels with Christmas towels in all three bathrooms, one last clean of the bathrooms and then prepare the food for us to snack on tomorrow night. Well less than one hour before the pups arrive. I need a cup of coffee. We went for a walk but only went just inside the park yesterday as the wind was cold. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be warm, I believe. We won’t get out today as the pups will be here and I cannot walk all three at the same time and I am not sure that I want to leave anyone behind while I walk the others separately (gifts under the tree). But we will get exercise with the pups here anyway. I work until 7:00 p.m. tonight. Last night I made a pan of chili not a big pot. It was delightful. Just scaled it back. I wanted to mention that I noticed the number of “followers” is now over 900. So exciting. Maybe by the 2021 I will have 1000 people reading or at least signed up to read this blog. Makes me over the moon happy. When I was a small child I did not dream of this …. although I think think that in the future we would be able to see people’s faces when we spoke to them on the phone. That would have been in the early 60’s. I guess I can see the future. LOL.

Well everyone time to head on downstairs. Put on the coffee to perk. The sky cleared yesterday and I was happy to see the moon last night from my deck.

Be safe, continue to live your live showing kindness, respect and compassion to all. Truly it is the only way for us to live our lives.

Always, Carol & Alvin

YAY, it is almost here. I feel like I am 8 again. Best Christmas EVER is coming. So excited. So excited.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 11th day of July, 2017.

What a difference in temperatures between Sunday night and last night.

It really cooled down.

Did not even need the fan on during the night.

The sudden drop in temperature always freaks me out a bit as it generally means a storm is brewing.

They did forecast some tornadoes in central Alberta last night.

We are grateful to sleep with just the window open.

Well Mr. Alvin did not sleep through the night last night.

I am beginning to think that it had something to do with the “fan.”

Will try with fan on tonight and see what happens.

Having a small rain shower at this moment.

The air is cool and crisp ….. thank goodness for a cool house.

Just thinking about this ….. due to the cancellation of my bus in the morning …. I now arrive later but on time of course.

So instead of worrying about making coffee ….. one of my co-workers who changed her work schedule just recently ….. well she just whips up a couple of pots.

Thinking of me ….. they are ready for when I arrive.

How lucky am I?

I guess what goes around comes around …..

So for the summer I will have my morning coffee made for me.

In the fall when the bus schedule returns to norm …. I will gladly assume my coffee making duties.

What a great life I have….

I was thinking about great it would be to have 1,000 followers on my blog.

Years ago when I first started writing this blog on Word Press, I so badly wanted 1,000,000 followers.

Perhaps that was a bit on the high side.

Now reality has set in and this small town …. big city girl is grateful to have 665 followers.

Shooting for 1,000 ….. why not?

Special Hello to: all those folks who read my blog.  I am so grateful.  This is making my dreams come true.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 25th day of August, 2016.

This morning the skies are beginning to clear after a night of rain.

Likely safe to say at this point that we need more sunshine than rain.

Farmers need sunshine to finish their harvest or perhaps to start in some cases.

Today marks the 78th Birthday of my Mother.

We passed away 23 years ago.

Hard to believe that it has been that long …..

We miss her and think of her all the time.

She was an unique being and loved everyone and was loved by everyone.

No matter what.

She gave third, fourth and one hundred chances to those who just could not seem to get things right.

Always, always welcomed everyone into her home and fed them.

People always had a way of showing up at mealtime and I guess they knew she would never turn them away.

When someone says they would give the shirt off their back to someone in need – she did.

She had a wit and charm and wicked sense of humour.

No one could tell a joke like she did.

So on this day – I would like to raise a glass to my, our Mother and thank her for all her 55 years on this planet and wish her a Happy Birthday for eternity.

Thank you Mom.

Elton is coming to spend the day with Alvin.

So that means his Momma is getting a ride to work, yay.

So thank you to all those folks who take the time to read my words.

I hear that sometimes those words bring joy, sometimes laughter, sometimes a smile and sometimes further thought.

Today is a day to give thanks.

I like to give thanks and to show my gratitude each and everyday.

But sometimes it is good to write it for all the world to see or at least my ever faithful followers.

Thank you.

Have a wonderful day.

Maybe today is the day that you see your Mother and thank her for all that you do.

Perhaps you send her thanks if she has passed by thinking of her on this day.

Happy Thursday.

Special Hello to: all those Mothers out there …… thank you

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 27th day of July, 2014.

It is a grand day here in Edmonton at my home.

My daughter is downstairs finishing (tying off) the necklaces for our wedding jewellery order.

I am writing this my “1301” blog.

Alvin is lying in the hallway outside the office/bedroom door.

One of my grand-puppies is with my daughter and the other with my son-in-law still snoozing.

We are just getting ready to go for day two of cleaning.

Day one was just moving the odds and ends that were left behind from the big move and smaller trips.

Day two is the nitty gritty ….. cleaning …..

First off, I am going to take Alvin and Miss Penny for a walk.

They have been slightly neglected the past few days.

They deserve a nice walk.

There is a nice cool breeze coming in through the small opening (left window open).

Feels nice.

Thank you again to my first follower and the 500th and everyone in between.

I am so very grateful for your kindness, generosity of time and support.

Time to sip that last coffee and then get ready to go for a walk.

Have a great Sunday.

Oh, did I mention that I booked off from the store ….. I always work there on Sundays.

A regular fixture…..  giggling ……

Special Hello to: all those people back in Saskatchewan who enjoyed Beyonce and Jay-Z last night.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 25th day of September, 2013.

Well we had another gorgeous day yesterday.

This morning early on, ( about 5:00 a.m.) the sky popped with the brightest view of the moon and stars, I was so in awe “I said, “WOW.”

It was truly magnificent.

Making me feel so grateful to live on this planet with this incredible view.

Thank you.

ALSO:

I made an even more conscious effort to be extra kind to everyone that I came in contact with throughout the day.

That was yesterday.

It worked I felt so good.

Like I had just conquered the world or went to the moon or better yet “won the lottery” (actually I think going to the moon would be pretty spectacular).

So let us try this again tomorrow and the day after that and so on.

Can you imagine what a great place this world would be …. if we were all kind and respectful …. warm and generous.

Well that is going to be my mantra …..

“KIND and RESPECTFUL … WARM AND GENEROUS” to everyone that I meet.

Special Hello to: all those people who follow the SECRET ……. it is a great thing to be in your company.

Always, Carol and Alvin
