A New YEAR 2023

Good Morning ALL! Well it has been quite the weekend so far. We, me and Alvin had a good sleep last night even with couple of times up. The wind is blowing so hard that it feels like the snow will be swept up from the rooftops and the ground and be a snow storm. Yesterday ended up being quite different than the way that I had planned it to be. I walked over to have my eyeglasses adjusted. Perhaps I should start at the beginning. Maddie, my friend’s daughter who was going to stay with Alvin while I attended the New Year Eve’s Dinner at my friend Lucy’s house – well I asked her if she could come and stay with Alvin while I went to have my glasses adjusted. Things went well so I stopped at the Shoppers Drugstore to pick up a couple of items (deodorant as do not wish to be smelly). Then back home. Alvin and Maddie did well and it was then, that I asked if she would be available to stay with Alvin while I went out for supper. She said yes. I had earlier advised her that I had changed my mind because of Alvin and work, if I am being honest. The week from HELL, I will say. I texted everyone to tell them of my changes to the plan. For sure I wanted the Hostess to know that now she would have four people including herself for supper. As it turns out she had not seen my text saying that I was not going to attend, lol. I guess she was busy with all of the calls/texts coming in from family and friends back home in China.

After Madeline (Maddie) left, I did a couple of quick things and then grabbed Alvin’s harness and some poop bags and with only a sweater (instead of coat), we were on our way for a walk. Alvin did not need a jacket and I was so warm from my walk that I wore a warm sweater. He stopped and sniffed along the way. We both enjoyed the warm air and sunshine. Divine. We went as far as just into the park which is the longest we have walked together in a long time. Then back home. We had some quiet time before I got Alvin his supper and then changed for the dinner party celebrating Chinese New Year’s Eve. Next thing I knew it Maddie was there, Alvin was happy to see her. When she arrived earlier his tail was wagging so much and the same this time. Then I was off with my gifts for Lucy to acknowledge her tradition and the New Year. It was starting to get a bit icy by this time as the sun was going down. So I walked semi slowly and carefully. When I got to Lucy’s house, our friends who live two doors down were also just leaving so we walked over together. We had a great evening. Lucy had her house decorated with red decorations for which I forgot to ask if they said “Happy New Year” or something else. All the food items for supper had a meaning. “Blessings,” “Abundance” and so forth. The dishes were so yummy. There was a noodle dish with mushrooms and beef, fish dish, shrimp, a type of meat ball with carrots, great soup and so much more. We laugh until we cried (almost). We had the best time. Ate way too much but the food was amazing. We took a selfie of the three of us without Pauline’s husband. He took a photo of us gals together earlier. In hindsight I do not think I took one of him. I was home by 8:17 p.m., I think. Pauline drove me home as it was dark and the sidewalks were icy in places. Very grateful for the ride. At home Maddie and Alvin were hanging out. She had been studying and Alvin was “watching” a Disney movie.

Happy New YEAR

Wishing you a Happy New Year and a great Sunday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

My gifts to Lucy were tea and chocolate.

A New YEAR 2023

Good Morning ALL! Another busy day ahead. My daughter slept over last night and she is still sleeping. We are having my cousins over for a visit and supper today. So I have lots to do. Cooking and cleaning. Alvin has taken the corner in major improvement. He had a good poop or poops yesterday so that is such a relief. I will continue with his regiment and hopefully by next week he is back to his old self. Next Thursday is his 14th Birthday. We will celebrate not next Saturday but the following Saturday with our family and perhaps even a friend or two. I am grateful for all of the many blessings in my life. Family and Friends.

Speaking of friends, just a special shout out to my dear friend Gillian who helped me out in a major way yesterday. After work, I had to go to the vet to pick up something (treats, yes I know – not like Alvin can have them now but they are a hard commodity to secure), my eyeglasses and some groceries. She picked me up shortly after 4:00 p.m. and we had all three stops done and back home by 5:00 p.m. How is that for getting things done. I am so grateful for her friendship, love and support. She saved me time and walking and carrying.

Another dear friend received good news about her pathology report and we are forever grateful.

Just good news all way round.

Freezing rain earlier ….. yes ….. raining in Edmonton ….. in January. Go figure. The next days and virtually all week are to be mild. Perhaps Alvin and I may get out for a walk yet before the temperatures change.

I will post a few photos tomorrow but need to get this show on the road.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to read my posts, it is so appreciated. I love to write and to share my life with you. Maybe some of the pooping stories are a bit much but they are part of my life, unfortunately or perhaps fortunately! Take some time for yourself on this weekend and have a good one. Be safe and take care.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee. I have already enjoyed a mug of that good stuff, lol.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 17th day of August, 2016.

I have to apologize to my friend “V” as I forgot to mention her birthday yesterday.

I knew it was on the 16th but I did not think that the date was the 16th.

One of those things.

I did wish her a Happy Birthday on FB but I wanted to acknowledge her on my blog.

She is one of those special people that deserves recognition.

We have known each other for likely 25 years or so now but really got to know each other as good friends just this past year.

Life just is full of surprises and that was an excellent one.

She has become one of my dearest friends and I am grateful for her friendship.

Happy Birthday “V.”

Well Alvin is going to have some company today as Elton is on his way over.

Yay, I will have a ride to work.

It is our staff barbecue today as well so that is nice.

Happy Wednesday.

Things are finally coming together …..

I love when that happens.

Well time to get this show on the road as they will be here any minute.

Just a short note today but I would leave you with this …..

You just never know what life will bring your way.

I also just in the past year or so connected with another person who happened to be a close friend many years ago and we just lost touch.

Such as life happens.

So “M” – I am grateful for you and our friendship.

I am truly blessed.

Surrounded by amazing family and friends.

Time to fly.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: all those great folks out there …. you are so special.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 17th day of February, 2016.

It would appear that we have spring here in Edmonton.

Temperatures hovering around the zero and single digit plus temperatures.

We would not be complaining that is for sure.

The ice is melting.

Chip chip away ……

One morning we shall wake and the sidewalks and streets will be bare pavement.

Then it will be summer …..

I hope that you all had a grand long weekend ……

In Canada we celebrated “Family Day” and in the U.S. they celebrated “President’s Day.” and there was “Valentine’s Day.”

I have never googled to see if anyone else on the planet celebrates Valentine’s Day ….

Mmm, I seem to remember something about that day ….. will have to check later.

Maybe today would be a good time at some point to google something new.

Always good to learn something new.

It was a busy weekend.

What is new with you?

I hope that you are managing to get through winter depending on where you live.

Very cool that there are different types of “winter” and “summer” depending on which part of the planet you are located.

I will say that we are so lucky to have four different seasons.

Winter has perhaps become longer over the years but has definitely is shorter.

So on this mid week day …. I hope that you are well and ready to get on with this one.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  my friends back in Saskatchewan “V” and “M” ….. thank you for support and friendship over the years.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to the second day of summer Sunday, the 22nd day of June, 2014.

It is bright and sunny out this morning and the air has a slight coolness from the breeze, making it practically perfect.

This morning I was reminded as I gathered the jewellery that I always wear …. you know the rings and watch and then touched off with bracelets and a necklace, perhaps earrings.

One piece that I have worn every single day since it was given to me back in the summer of 1976 – a jade ring.

The ring is smooth and green ….. an ever ending circle of friendship.

It was a gift from my then best friend, Carolyn.

My forever friend, Carolyn, I might add.

We met in Grade Twelve.

She got married right after high school.

She had gone on a trip to the United States and had brought it back for me.

It is strange that I have no other piece of jewellery that I have consistently wore for that length of time.

This summer is is thirty-eight years since she gave it to me.

We were inseparable for a long-time and always kept in touch.

But somehow like many relationships go they slowly slip away.

I miss her.

We have and had such an amazing friendship that no matter how much time had elapsed we would just pick up from that point, like we had just spoke that day.

To my knowledge she still lives back in Regina and hopefully someday we will meet up again.

I am grateful for the jade ring a fond reminder of love and friendship.

Special Hello to: my friend Carolyn wherever you are ………

Always, Carol and Alvin
