Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter.

Good Morning All. Can you believe that it is the weekend once again? My how the time flies. I have a long list of things to accomplish over the next weekends until Christmas. Alvin needs a haircut but I don’t want to do it too soon or he may need a trim and then he has a vet appointment on December 1st and definitely needs a trim before then. So I have decided on Sunday, tomorrow, in the afternoon I will give him a haircut and bath. I believe that the temperature is too be mild for this time of year. There is always laundry to do. Some of the gals that placed Steeped Tea orders from me are coming to pick up their “teas” this weekend. My daughter said that she is coming for a visit. I have that Christmas project that yes, I have not gained any momentum on that as yet. I put it together and it has sat for weeks. I just got stuck. I have other ideas and now cannot make a decision for love nor money. Oh well, there are still “how many days and weeks until Christmas Eve.” I have not counted as yet and that is likely good. Anyway, I always seem to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat (just so you know I would never place a bunny in a hat like that). I mean that I will somehow magically get the project done. I always do somehow. There be cleaning to do and I always would like to make some “energy bites” and “scones.” I love the versatility of both of these as you can make them your own depending on what you have in your pantry and fridge. The energy bites are: oatmeal, coconut, dried cranberries, almonds (the roasted ones from COSTCO) with honey and peanut butter and likely will throw in some M&M’s leftover from Halloween (tucked away for just this). The scones I will add perhaps blueberries. I still do not have eggs. Remember my last time with making scones. The eggs gone very bad!! Anyway that is part of the plan. Always things to do. I am happy that most of my shopping is done and some of the wrapping. Need to pick up things for the fur babies who in our circle have increased in numbers over the past year. We have the grandpups Aspen and Milo. We have our neighbours, the cats Humphrey and Bogart. We have Alvin’s BF Teddy and his little sister Kobi. Then I cannot forget Mr. Alvin. So lots of babies.

Well the clock is ticking away and it is 9:04 a.m. already. I have only changing bedding on our bed and have written this, oh and I guess I have entered in a couple of contests/draws from store receipts. Who wouldn’t like to win a VISA gift card or free groceries. Me, I would.

I hope that you are well. The sunrise is beautiful once again. When I was outside with Mr. Alvin about 45 minutes ago – it was delightful. Definitely will get a walk in today. Looking at my mid section and Mr. Alvin’s – well we have to get outside more often and for longer when the weather permits. I guess we both have to cut down on our food intake. Pretty difficult when we both love to eat. Isn’t it funny how our four-leggeds are more like us than not.

Wishing good health, some fun and laughter and abundance. I hope as I continue to live my life with kindness and respect that you are as well.

Oh, last night I had a great visit with my neighbours down the street. I snapped some photos of their beautiful decorated yard. Oh, I guess I have to figure out why I am not able to upload / download photos from phone to computer. Yes, that has been on the list for awhile. I have to write these things down so that when I can capture my daughter for help, I don’t forget. My poor girl – always has a long list of things to help her “old” Momma with.

Happy Saturday. Alvin is laying outside the office door waiting “patiently.”

Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

True it is a New Year and today is a New Day, Tuesday.

A cold morning here in Edmonton.

We are grateful to be inside a warm home.

Alvin is resting on his blue blanket beside me.

This morning while I was in the shower and getting ready he stayed resting on the bed.

Not his usual routine.

He appears to be okay.

He got up and off the bed okay.

Perhaps he is just tired although he did sleep through from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Oh, well.

I feel the same way.

I would have loved to have just stayed at home today.

Just curling up on the sofa with me Alvin under our warm red blanket.

But I have lots of work to do today and if I miss a day it just piles up.

Becoming way too stressful.

So off I go to the office/to work.

Teddy went home just around noon yesterday.

The house is quiet without him.

Not that he is particularly loud or anything.

We miss him.

I know Alvin does.

Perhaps some photos of cuteness and beauty this morning.

Will help us get through this cold Tuesday.

Just close your eyes and visualize laying on the grass ….. just relaxing.

Okay, perhaps I got a bit carried away with the photos.

Too much cuteness, I don’t think so.

Too much natural beauty, be serious.

More words …. well maybe.

I wish you a wonderful day.

Filled with love, joy and abundance.

May everyone you see and everything you touch be done so with kindness and respect.

Happy Tuesday.

I know the Tuesday after a long weekend, feels like a Monday.

Have an awesome day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One Day at a time.

Hello,

A beautiful morning.

Windows open to let in the cool fresh morning air.

To keep Mr. Alvin comfortable until I arrive home.

There are clouds forming on the southern horizon.

We had another hot muggy day yesterday.

Luckily we managed to get a walk in right after work.

I, as per usual took along a full bottle of water for Mr. Alvin.

He has the slickest water bottle / tray for him to have a drink.

There was a slightly cool breeze otherwise I would have waited until later.

We got our walk in and after supper the temperature dropped quickly followed by thunder/lightning/rain.

Not too much rain but lots of thunder and lightning.

Sure love the beauty of the sky when there are storms.

On this Tuesday I am thinking about how blessed I am.

I am surrounded by loving and supportive family and friends.

I have me “Alvin” alongside me everyday to keep me company and to keep me focused.

I am employed.

I have a beautiful home with a yard.

So many blessings.

The most important of all is good health.

I am most grateful to be my age and to be in good health.

Everyday I count my blessings / grateful that both Alvin and I are healthy.

Makes the world of difference.

Well for some reason we are less on time this morning.

Not sure why.

I have windows to close before my ride appears.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Filled with kindness and respect.

If we are fortunate to be surrounded and live with kindness and respect, life is good.

Maybe you are lucky to have an Alvin in your life.

Or a Humphrey or a Teddy or Miss Aspen or Baby Milo ….

These fur-babies ….. so much love and fun.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S.  going to the Mall tomorrow night to shop for shoes……I have not done that in a long while….. so excited.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of June, 2018.

Happy Father’s Day to all the DADS out there.

It does not matter if you are a biological father, a father by marriage or by adoption or a Dad to fur babies.

Every DAD is important.

Happy Father’s Day to all the FATHERS in my life.

Thank you.

Well this was an unusual morning.

We stayed up and watched a movie, the new TOMB RAIDER, Lara Croft one after my family went home.

We had a great visit and supper together.

So much laughter.

This was a company weekend and we both it enjoyed all of our company.

So this morning we were up at 5:30 or Mr. Alvin wanted me to get up.

We got up and he had breakfast and went outside.

Back to the sofa and then it was almost 9:00 when we got up.

Figured would eat first and then go for a walk as it looks like a hot one on the way.

We left home about 9:30 and got home about 11:10 a.m.

Had a few stops for visits along the way with the last one being with our friends at the corner.

Alvin enjoyed running and sniffing in their back yard while we sat and visited on the swing.

He laid and rolled in the grass, so cute.

He loves their back yard and so do I.

Looks like a hot week ahead.

No complaints as our summers are so short.

We had a nice morning no rushing.

Just having coffee now which is late but that is okay.

ON our walk we saw the geese down by the water by the trees.

Did not see the goslings.

Disappointed.

Well time to get some things done and to enjoy a CUP OF COFFEE.

I love that first cup of coffee.

I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday with your family and friends.

Maybe you are looking forward to a quiet one and that is okay, too.

OR perhaps you are working away from home as is my nephew.

Have a safe and wonderful day.

Looks like this is going to be great summer.

I hear that company is company is coming to our house at the end of July.

My daughter and I are taking a road trip in August.

Just gets better and better.

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day.

Special Hello to: all the FATHERS out there …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Friday, July 14, 2017 and it is the 27th day until my 60th Birthday.

So if you are a family member or friend reading these posts, please do not be offended if I missed something like your birth.

It was truly important to me but when you are almost sixty ….. sometimes you remember these things a bit later ….. like the day after..

Well let us see here ….. what year are we at …… this is not as easy as it may seem….

1978: Flew to U.S.A. with friends in a four seater airplane.  It was awesome.  Went to LA, baby ….. Saw JAWS at Universal Studios, saw Queen Elizabeth, and so much more.  Dipped toes in the ocean.

1979: BIG NEWS – expecting – was so excited.

1980: The birth of my daughter in March.  The constant that lights up my life as she did back then and continues to do now. BEST YEAR EVER.

1981:  Being a Mom was great …. once you get past the “no sleep stage.”  I even did some sewing and made us some matching outfits with help.

1982:  Living with my sister and my nephew and my daughter ….. we had fun ….

1983:  Survived major flood in Regina in July ….. we were living in a basement suite …. me and my girl……

1984: My first niece was born ……

1985: My daughter starts kindergarten….

1986: On my Fridays off from work I would walk to my daughter’s school and pick her up and we would walk to the nearby mall and have lunch.  So much fun treating her to lunch and spending that precious time together.

1987: Clearly she ruled in the memory department ….. she was my world and remains so to this day.  I do share that world with Me Alvin and my son-in-law and their fur babies but she was the first born and will always be extra special.

This is a good test of the old memory banks.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 1st day of May, 2017.

Well April showers hopefully will bring May flowers.

We had a great couple of days to close out April.

Yesterday only a few minutes after I finished raking the front lawn including my neighbours we received HAIL.

YIKES.

Thunder shower with hail that is how we ended April 2017.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk.

We only were a few houses away from home when we bumped into neighbour/friends so we had a short chat to catch up.

We have changed our regular walk as the pathway around the lake has been wet and muddy.

So as we were on our way around the big lake – friends of ours spotted us and of course, we went to join them.

We ended up chatting for quite some time before we decided just to walk together on our way home.

The temperature was perfect …. no wind …… just perfect.

We listened to the frogs in the lake and birds chirping from the trees.

People stopped to say hello with their dogs.

We met even more nice people and their fur-babies.

Absolute perfection.

After reaching home I went about finishing the last two loads of laundry, raking the back yard and then decided I may as well rake the front.

Why wait – perhaps it was not as wet as I had previously thought.

I was right.

So rake both mine and the neighbours.

Just in time as the thunder shower with hail happened just a few minutes later ….

After I make the fridge oatmeal, lunch and got supper into the oven – we had time to catch up on THE VOICE.

Such a lot of talented singers.

I noticed on FB, something that made me beam with pride.

At a recent hockey game in Edmonton when it came time for the guest to sing “The American National Anthem” there was a mic hiccup so he rallied the crowd and they sang.

It was amazing.

So Canadian Hockey FANS singing the American National Anthem and sounded like they knew the words.

Made me proud.

Thank you guys.

Well here we are time for me to leave for the bus.

Sun coming up …… promises to be a great day.

Happy Monday.

Be well everyone.

Special Hello: thank you sister for the lovely chat via SKYPE last night.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of October, 2013.

The weather has been great here in Edmonton.

Definitely a gorgeous autumn or fall.

I had a great weekend.

On this day my thoughts are with my kids and their “Penny” who is not feeling so well.

I am sending all my love and positive energy to them and hope she is 100% soon.

To all those beings in the world who need some love and goodness, I send it to you.

Have a wonderful day.

Always remember to tell the ones you love that you care.

Special Hello to: all our fur babies – we love you.
