Last Half 2022 – December

Good Morning ALL! How are you on this Tuesday morning? I am doing well. Perhaps a bit tired as I seemed to toss and turn a bit last night. Went to bed a bit later than usual which seems to be a trend as of late. My friends Pauline and Lucy came over for a visit. Pauline brought some of her Christmas baking treats and Lucy made some Chinese Dumplings. I asked if I could freeze everything and they said yes. I thought Lucy’s Chinese Dumplings would fit into our Christmas Menu perfectly. YAY. We drank teas and they tasted some of my Christmas baking. Laughed, oh how we laughed. So much fun, these two wonderful friends. We exchanged gifts as well. Quite unplanned. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful friends. My friend Lucy is Chinese and last night we were talking about language as she learns something about the English language everyday. We decided that we will help each other. She is going to teach us some Chinese. I cannot wait. Always loved the Chinese language(s) and culture. Will be so much fun. Lucy says when she does go home she finds that her “mouth always hurts” and that is the different way we use our mouth in conversation. We are practicing to say her name properly as her name was changed when she came to Canada to make it easier for everyone. I cannot imagine having to change my name. We had a great visit. Thank you ladies.

Looks like another cold day ahead. Not much good for walking. I believe after today, it will warm for a few days before we head into another deep freeze. Hopefully by Christmas the weather is good for people to travel and for everyone to go outside and get some fresh air and walk. That means me.

I am mentally and physically preparing for the office Christmas party at my house this Saturday. By mentally – just wanting to ensure that I do not forget to do anything. Making sure I have enough seating, food and all of that. We will have a great time. Two out of three Christmas “parties” are already out from under the TREE. One more to go and then of course Christmas.

Countdown to Christmas: 11 sleeps till Christmas Eve.

Time to head downstairs. I have to grab something to take for my late coffee break snack as I only eat once before supper. I have leftovers for tonight so that is good. I should likely go and check the mailbox and deliver the last handful of cards tonight.

Have a wonderful day!

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. one of the gifts that I received from Pauline was the card game that we played at the “fish fry.” I cannot wait to play it with the kids. To the office, I go today.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 9th day of Sunday, 2018.

The sky is blue with nice white clouds and the SUN is shining.

It is a bit later than yesterday as we were up earlier and then elected to hit the sofa for some extra zzz’s.

There is a breeze.

Today with some reluctance I will pull my flowers and prepare for winter.

Not all of the flowers but most of them.

The snapdragons are just starting to get nice so I will leave them and try to protect them from incoming frost.

I also want to research how to preserve the LAVENDER plant that I have and how to make little Lavender packets or bouquets.

Last night was beautiful.

Teddy went home just after 6:00 p.m. after a great day with the little guy.

The boys played but mostly just hung out.

Teddy accompanied us to Alvin’s regular appointment to have his pedicure and stuff.

Alvin and I went for a lovely walk after supper.

We, I just had an easy day.

Cleaned out the pantry and shelving by the back door – nice to have restored some kind of order.

The tea cupboard has also been cleaned out.

Laundry or some of it done.

AND I set up the JENGA game on the counter and then on the table …..

In between I played JENGA.

Oh, how I love that game.

One of the few games that one can play by themselves.

I could play it all of the time.

One of my co-workers, actually one of the managers gave me the game as a “late birthday gift” as she knew how much I loved it.

Also I never seem to get to a place that would sell games.

So grateful to her and know that I am truly blessed for such generosity.

I find it relaxing and truly FUN.

If you are living by yourself – it is a great game to have set up.

You can play it over the course of the day.

Or you can sit down and play.

If you have someone at home to play with you, that is great as well.

Well there is a list of things to do and I see that the sky is beginning to cloud over.

I know that the forecast calls for clouds but I was hoping that the sunshine would have stayed longer.

Guess I had better get dressed, eat and make coffee and then get to the yard work.

ARGH, I wanted the sunshine to be around for today.

Perhaps it will come back.

I hope so.

Have an awesome Sunday.

Special Hello to: my sister (I had a great Friday and weekend).

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 25th day of May, 2016.

YAY, the sun is shining and it feels good.

The sky is that pretty blue.

I am not complaining about our almost five days of rain, no sir.

Because it was just what the Doctor ordered.

But now he orders sunshine and that is good.

I am so grateful for the moisture and hopeful that we will receive more over the course of the summer months as it is needed.

Mr. Alvin was so funny last night.

We were chilling on the sofa, the Momma watching the taped VOICE and watching the top four perform and Alvin with his chew treat beside him.

One minute it was on the sofa and the next it was on the floor and then the whimpering began.

So the good Momma that I am – I picked it up for him.

Not in the beginning paying too close attention to what was going on.

As I mentioned I was watching the VOICE and also enjoying a cup of “steeped” tea.

Again, the treat was on the floor and the whimpering began.

Again, I picked it up and next thing I knew I saw him out of the corner of my eye pushing it to the edge and off.

It was a game.

He got me.

So cute.

We played the game for a bit.

Best of two worlds …. playing …… snuggling with me Alvin and watching the VOICE.

If you know who won …. I do not as yet.

We enjoyed our first walk in a few days last night.

It was a great evening.

Well here we go again time to go to work.

The evenings sure pass quickly.

Have an awesome day everyone.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: my sister ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Welcome to Friday, February 24th, 2012 ….

Guess what ….. it SNOWED last night ….. we now have a heavy blanket of the white stuff covering the streets, sidewalks and yards ……

I shovelled the deck and front sidewalks last night before bed and now this morning we got even more…..

When Alvin and I were first up and out …. I shovelled the deck ……

Will leave the front sidewalk for later …… usually I have a burst of energy after my shift at BBW so tonight much later ….. perhaps I will shovel the front.

Isn’t it funny how we can go from barely any snow to a solid covering ..

I do love, a fresh blanket of snow ….

Mr. Alvin has decided that he wants to be a lap dog and is now resting upon my lap.

He is so darn cute ….. just love him so much.

He was fussing about and asking me in his own way …. to get up.

Not the traditional stand in front or perhaps put his paws on my knees …. some indication of wanting up.

No, he has his own way.

He grabbed at my hands when I put them out to pick him up.

Now he didn’t bite me …. just does his little nibble … thing …. so cute.

Anyway, I knew he wanted up but first of all …. he likes to play his little game.

Perhaps he thinks that it is Saturday morning and time to SKYPE with Auntie Cindy…… whom he loves…..

Well almost time to sign off for another week ….. where does the time go?

I had a great week both at work and at home.

I wish for you a great Friday and the weekend.

Stay safe and warm ……

I hope that you are surrounded by both love and laughter this last weekend of February 2012.

May you have someone who wants to sit in your lap …… pet, child ….. “other” ……   🙂

Special Hello: to all those travellers who are leaving or are at a warm destination soaking up the sun.  ENJOY.

Always, Carol and Mr. Alvin
