2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you this Wednesday morning? Cool, I hope. Alvin and I were up at 3:30 as both had to “pee.” It was so refreshing outside and even though it was in the 20’s celsius even at that time with a breeze it felt cool and as I was wearing my summer pj’s, I put on a sweater, imagine that! We lingered on the deck for a time enjoying the coolness and for a moment I thought of grabbing Alvin’s beds and bringing them outside and laying down on the deck. For a moment. Then back into the house and laid down until he was up at 4:30 to eat. After Alvin ate, I changed my alarm from 5:00 to 5:30. I checked the weather and before the official sunrise it was 24 degrees celsius with a breeze and only climbing after the sun begins to rise higher in the sky. The sun rose at I think 5:07 so we could see to walk of course and at 5:40 a.m. this morning Alvin and I headed out for a walk. We came across three runners and one couple with a dog walking. I think that the dog was walking the Mrs. They were fully dressed with long pants, tops and jackets. I felt warm looking at them. Anyway we enjoyed the coolness in the air, the smell of the roses, the smell of the morning. It was enchanting. Really it was. I felt like we were in a different place and shortly we will be. I am grateful that we have fans and can keep relatively okay. Last night before bed I gave Alvin a bath of sorts, no shampoo, just got him wet and then partially dried him. I had a shower. Then we went to bed. I also put a wet towel on him. When the towel dried out during the night, he woke up. I realized what the problem was grabbing the towel went into the bathroom and ran some coolish water soaking the towel. Covering him with it once again, he went back to sleep. I think that he knows what the towel represents now. I am grateful to have towels and water. There is still a breeze coming in through the office window and it is actually cool in here. Unlike yesterday morning when it was warm but we are earlier I think. A few minutes ago after returning from our walk, Alvin wanted to go outside. So we went into the backyard and found Bogart atop the fence between his yard and ours. He was meowing at Alvin and Alvin was barking at him. His Mom came out, picked up Bogart from the top of the fence, he was not impressed, we had a short visit as she was vacuuming while it was still cool before realizing that she promised a coworker that she would go to the office and help with a task. So then she was hustling Humphrey and Bogart into the house. That has been our morning thus far. Honestly feels like we have been up for hours and I guess actually we have.

At least the weekend will be 10 or more degrees cooler and 25/26 degrees celsius looks pretty cool to me.

So on this Wednesday the last day of June 2021 and the day before we celebrate Canada Day, I am grateful to live in a country that is not perfect but we are trying to do better for all our citizens. We are hopeful that for the children of the next generations we will always remember what is not acceptable and that we will all live together with respect, compassion and kindness for everyone, for each citizen of this great land. Everyone is important. Everyone!

Happy Wednesday to you. I am off to put on some coffee and perhaps sit outside on the deck for a little while while the deck remains shaded before the sun rises higher in the sky. Enjoy that refreshing cool air a bit longer.

Take care and stay cool and hydrated.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude.

Love, Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 27th day of March, 2019.

Well we had a rainy day on Tuesday …..  we missed our walk last night.

Sometimes I wished that Alvin had a raincoat with a hood.

I have to be careful that he doesn’t get an yeast infection.

It can happen from excess moisture in the ears.

Who knew?

We opted out last night but he spent time on the deck and every time he came into the house – out came the towel.

Tonight I have a meeting and our friend is watching over him.

Perhaps it will be nice and she will take him for a walk.

Otherwise we will have to play catchup tomorrow and over the weekend.

Not so bad.

******************************

I read the following just before signing on to do this post.

It was surrounded by math problems.

Love is many things none of which is logical.

I would tend to agree with this statement.

Love is anything but logical.

We all know and remember poems and song lyrics about love.

Nothing logical about any of them.

Perhaps love is an opinion.

After all we all love differently.

Some we understand and some we do not.

But we cherish LOVE above all else.

There is the love of another human being.

There is the love of one’s children.

Different love between you and your parents, for example.

There is the love of money.

There is the love of material items.

After all that priceless family heirloom was purchased with love and handed down over the generations with love.

There is the love of animals.

I love my Alvin.

There is the love of nature.

I love walking by a lake with tall grasses waving in a breeze.

I love watching animals in nature.

There is the love of food.

Who does not love chocolate.

There is the love of oneself.

Many levels of self love.

There is the love of a rain storm.

Yes, love the excitement of thunder and lightning.

There is the love of sports.

There is the love of exercise.

There is the love of music.

That song that you simply cannot live without.

There is the love of love.

Anyway you look at it LOVE covers a great deal of ground.

Funny how one statement can spark conversation or in this case a great many statements.

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing that you love yourself, you are safe, you are in good health and are surrounded with love and support.

Happy Wednesday.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my friends and family all over this world.

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 23rd day of April, 2015.

Yikes, bad me ….. I forgot in my blog yesterday to mention “Earth Day.”

I think it is an important day and that we should all be doing our upmost best to look after this planet, we call home.

We truly live in an incredible environment when you really think about it.

Sometimes makes me think that someone created this just for us.

It is absolute perfection.

It depends on your beliefs whether scientific or religious.

That is about the creation aspect.

But …..

How important is it to show our appreciation to our planet by being great caretakers!

There are so many ways each of us can participate.

One simple way is to make sure all of your garbage goes into a garbage can …. not thrown to the side on the ground.

Another is to cut down on consumer spending …. meaning do not buy things unless you absolutely need them.

Recycle….. please

There are so many ways.

Let us continue to celebrate “Earth Day” …..

We only have one and that is all.

So please help me help our Earth be here for generations and generations to come.

Well time to go to work.

I hope that you all have a great day.

Remember one Earth …. our Earth …..

Special Hello to: my daughter, I miss you honey.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 10th day of April, 2014.

How are you this fine morning?

I am doing great.

Alvin even sat on my lap as I wrote in my “gratitude” journal.

He hasn’t done that in awhile.

Was nice.

How did you do yesterday at remaining positive and upbeat?

Did you take a misstep?

I did …. and I apologized.

Was a bit stressed and didn’t take into account that my co-worker might have been too.

Wasn’t serious but I felt bad.

Always learning.

Every word that comes out of your mouth you have to take responsibility.

Every thought that comes into your mind you have to take responsibility.

It would seem that if we all took more responsibility for our words and actions that perhaps the earth would be a much better place to live.

A place we would be proud to leave to the next generations.

A place we would proudly call “Planet Earth, Our Home.”

Just thinking ….. you know ….. on a Thursday morning.

I just want to be a better person.

Not just for others but for me.

If I am that better person then I will give that to others.

They will see that and perhaps it will give them the push they need to be better people.

Just thoughts on a Thursday morning.

It is all you can do and all you should do.

To strive to be better in that moment.

This moment.

To live in the Now ….. not behind or ahead.

Food for thought.

I hope that you are energized and have the most spectacular day.

Thank you for reading.

Special Hello to: my fellow inhabitants of planet Earth …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of January, 2014.

Sure was windy last night with warm temperatures.

More snow yesterday.

I think we are well on our way to a record.

As I shovelled the driveway and the deck, I realized how narrow both are becoming as the space to put the snow is fast disappearing.

Now what…..

Sure wished it would remain in the plus temps for a couple or three weeks … enough to melt and dry up some of this moisture.

As we watch weather reports and the news from all over the world, I think more/most people are starting to believe that there has been significant damage done to the environment helping to create this crazy weather.

I just want our earth to be healthy and safe for us and our generations to come.

Just a couple of reminders …. things to do that will help in the effort to restore our earth to “green” ….

Take the time to separate your waste between real garbage and recycling.

Take the time to wash those cans and bottles.

If you smoke ….. please do not throw your butts on the street as they all end up down the storm drains and in the sewer system.

When you get groceries …. use cloth bags or paper or boxes anything but plastic.

Pick up the trash in your neighbourhood.

Take electronics to a recycling depot to be dismantled instead of throwing them in with the trash.

It is not only our weather that is affected but the wildlife on this planet.

You know all of those lovely plastic rings that hold your cans of pop in place instead of a box …. well they end up in the oceans and inside fish and birds.

They end up on beaches inside baby gulls and seals.

Poor babies have no idea what they are eating.

Can you imagine filling yourself up on plastic and starving to death?

Or perhaps a sharp bit of plastic perforating your insides.

How painful.

Just a reminder to be kind to your environment – we only have one earth.

If every person on this planet lived a “kind life” …. our planet would be happy.

Anyway not exactly a positive – happy blog this morning.

There are days when I am positively thrown by how inconsiderate we humans are of our co-inhabitants on this earth.

After all just because we have a “brain” that allows us to reason does not mean we are smarter or better than the common housefly.

We share this earth…..it is about time we showed it.

Special Hello to: all those people who take the time to recycle.

Always, Carol and Alvin
