Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 27th day of January, 2014.

It is a cold crisp morning here in Edmonton.

Mr. Alvin hesitated for several minutes before running outside to do his business and then quickly back into the house, no dilly dallying for him this morning.

He is a good temperatures gage for sure.

Just when you think that people have lost their “kindness factor” or their ability to do things for a total stranger …

My faith was renewed.

Yesterday morning when I left the house to catch the bus to work at the store.

I had climbed over the ice and snow and a car was coming.

I let the car go by so that I could take my time and actually walk on the street for a bit as our sidewalks are horrible.

The car stopped and I didn’t think anything of it …

I had just crossed the street when I heard a woman’s voice say something.

So I turned my head and “heard her say are you going to the bus stop?”

I walked over to the car and said yes …

It turns out this lady used to catch the bus and knew what it was like to walk on these icy sidewalks and streets.

I was extra early to the bus stop but very grateful that I didn’t have to walk over the ice to get there.

I thanked her multiple times.

So nice to see that people still do things for strangers.

She lives in my neighbourhood but I do not know her or where she lives.

That simple act boosted my spirits and made my day.

See what you can do.

Give it a try ….. be kind …. it is always a good no GREAT thing.

So off to work I go …..

I hope that you have a wonderful day wherever you might be.

If it is cold I hope that you stay warm.

If it is hot I hope that you stay cool.

Special Hello to: all those good Samaritans – you rock and thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

OMG what a day!!

It is now almost 4:30 p.m. and I have not accomplished much.

The sky is overcast and it has been foggy most of the day.

Those conditions make me want to lay down on the sofa with a soft blanket next to Alvin, my dog and just sleep or watch t.v.

I did however, get out for a walk and do a couple of “good deeds” while out.

Dropped the flyers off at a friends.  Not sure why they do not get all of the ones that I do, but figured it would be a good thing to share.  Now that is recycling/reusing !

When we were on our way to the lake – came across a poor little animal (believe it was a young muskrat) dead on the pedestrian walk.

It was still there but had been moved so now it is in the south bound lane.  Bless his heart, Alvin didn’t even try to go near the poor little guy.

So when Alvin and I arrived back home, I called the City to have someone come out and take the poor creature away.

It was so cute.  I feel so bad and hope that it did not suffer.  With all of the new resident areas having water features it is not surprising that these creatures leave the “safety” of the water area, and end up in traffic.

I am not sure what I can do about this type of incident but I pray that it does not happen again.

So despite my not getting much done today, I did try and do something good for the environment and for nature…..

Now before supper, I plan to go and bake a chocolate cake.

Oh well, there is always tonight or tomorrow…….somedays it is okay to just be LAZY or just have a quiet day.

You might wonder what the “thought for the day is here”  ……. LOL (next line ….)

I hope that wherever you are ….. that life is treating you grand and that you have a chance to be lazy or quiet ….. do something for someone or the environment…..and eat something YUMMY!!!!

Always, Carol
