Thought for the day …….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 15th day of March, 2017.

Today is the 14th Birthday of my Great-Niece “S.”

I thought she was going to be 13 but her Grandma reminded me that she is turning 14.

Wow, the little blonde-headed girl is into the teen-age years.

How did that happen?

I remember when her Grandma brought her to my house and they stayed for a sleepover.

We gave her a bath in the big tub, read her stories and enjoyed the evening.

We had a few of those which were great.

She often would come to my house in Regina for a visit.

We would watch movies and go for walks.

Play at the park.

My how time flies.

Happy Birthday “S” …… Wishing you a great day and year ahead.

Another warm day ahead for the City of Edmonton.

Plus temperatures are always good at this time of year.

Looking forward to our walk tonight.

Last night it was gorgeous.

We set out on our walk.

As we approached the park we both saw a young man and a little white dog on the other side of the street.

Both Alvin and the little one spotted each other.

Alvin pulled as though he were pulling a sled but it was me.

The other little doggie started to bark.

The young man crossed the street to the same side as us.

They were not too far ahead.

The little white dog kept turning around and barking at Alvin.

Alvin kept pulling me like there was no tomorrow.

I had to break into a run at some points.

We did not catch up but this kept up until we were over half way around the park.

They actually took a left turn and we then took a right.

Ending up walking our whole regular walk.

Felt so good and it was good for Mr. Alvin, as well.

What a character.

I cannot imagine why he thinks his Momma is a sled (perhaps I have put on a couple or five pounds this winter).

It was a great night.

So today our office is closed and we have an off-site staff meeting.

One of the girls that I work with is picking me up as well as two others.

So a ride to and from work today in a car.

How lovely.

Will be a nice break from phones and paper …….

My hands have sure taken a beating from this constant change in the weather.

Does not seem to matter how much moisturizer I use or how often.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Better get going here so I am ready to leave when my ride arrives.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello: to the Birthday Girl…… Happy Birthday Little One.

Always, Carol and Alvin

One of my favourite photos of the Birthday Girl from way back when …….

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 28th day of December, 2016.

Our weather has warmed yesterday and for today and the next few to follow.

My thoughts as of late are to all of those wonderful souls that have passed during this past year.

Some have been famous.

Some have been family.

Some have been friends.

Some you know and some you do not.

They made us laugh.

They shared their lives, their stories.

They will always be with us in the air that we breathe, and in all that surrounds us.

Their stories will continue in us.

To all of those who are missing your mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, friends, grandparents, beloved fur-babies: pups and kitties, you are in my thoughts.

I wrote this poem almost twenty years ago.

I would like to give this a tribute to all those wonderful spirits we have said goodbye to in 2016.

The sun melts into hues of gold and pink,

as the sky darkens.

A peaceful sigh, as she closes her eyes.

She sees the roses in her garden.

The fragrance soft but strong in the air.

She sees her children and theirs.

She feels her husband’s touch.

She remembers times gone by.

It has been a great life!

She is not afraid,

The time has come.

The Lord extends his hand,

And she follows him home.

Written by Carol Lewis on September 29/30, 1998 for my Grandma Stella.

Special Hello to: Rest in Peace our darlings. Rest in Peace.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 10th day of June, 2016.

It is a gorgeous bright and sunny morning here in Edmonton.

Elton arrived about 45 minutes ago to spend day two with his Grandma and Alvin.

We enjoyed a REALLY quiet relaxing day at our house.

Today is the day to get some work done.

Laundry and Alvin’s hair cut are the two big jobs of the day.

Always love the hair cut days ( just a little ).

I have been reading and re-reading about the power of INTENTION.

So I am going to make a habit of practicing being intentional.

My intentions for this day is to feel great and to know that great things are about to happen to us.

I have a great life and it is going to get even better.

Sunnier days ahead.

Well time to get that laundry going.

Time to grab a cup of coffee that is ready and waiting.

Time to cuddle with my boys, Elton and Alvin for a bit.

It feels like an amazing day already.

I hope you have a really great day.

Fill it with intentions.

Intend for your day to be great and it will.

Special Hello to: to all my friends who take the time to ready my blog ….. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 8th day of January, 2015.

Seems like a dream ……

I just woke up and today is the 8th day of the New Year.

Actually I have been at home sick for the past three days so I guess that is why.

When you are not feeling well time just seems to stand still.

Until you are ready to go back to work and realize that three whole days have gone by.

Three days that you pretty much slept through.

Three days that you spent wishing to feel better.

The best part of the three days was that I was with me Alvin.

It was so nice to snuggle with him on the sofa.

Elton and Penny, of course were here to make “Grandma” feel better.

So back to work ….

It seems strange ….

Like I am starting all over again….

Back to it …. back to my life.

I hope that all is well with you and that you are having a great week.

Sorry that I missed it.

Special Hello to: “Belated Birthday Wishes to my BF back in Regina” ……

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 21st day of February, 2014.

Today is my Grandma Stella’s Birthday ….. she was born in 1901 and she would have been 113 today.

Isn’t that crazy ….. I wished that she was still here.

She was a unique and special person ….. she lived her life to her own “beat.”

Happy Birthday Grandma wherever you are …..

Sometimes when I wake up I feel very reflective.

Other times I am thinking of what is going to happen.

I am thinking “WINNING THE LOTTERY” …..

The jackpot is $50 MILLION and our group at work has a ticket.

It is about time that a group won again.

We sure could do lots of amazing things with that much.

It would be about $3.3 million each.

WOW, WOW, and WOW.

Doing my happy dance ….. 🙂

I am so blessed in my life and the money would just be the icing on the cake.

To have financial freedom.

So on this fearless Friday I am dreaming of the big win.

I am visualizing and feeling great.

Thank you Universe.

You know what at the end of the day –  I have already won big.

I have the best puppy dog a gal would ever ask for and the “best” daughter.

I have a great son-in-law and the cutest grand-puppies.

I have my OWN house ( I have always wanted my own place with a yard for flowers).

I have a rocking wonderful sister and two crazy good brothers.

Lots of nieces and nephews and cousins.

I have more friends than a person should be blessed to have ….

I am in great health.

I love my life.

There you  have it ….. I have WON big ……

I am so grateful.

Have the best day everyone.

Dream big and follow your heart.

Special Hello to: my family who are my support and my loves – you are my dream come true.

Always, Carol and Mr. Alvin …. my main “dog” ….

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to “FRIDAY” the 19th day of April 2013.

I love Fridays because one Friday in a two week period I work at the office and then go to work at the store and

the other Friday I have off from the office but work at the store.

I love going to work at Bath & Body Works ….. my favourite part is meeting people and my co-workers.

The smells are pretty great, too.

I want to ask you something this morning?

What are your favourite scents and smells from your childhood?

What are your favourite sights and sounds from your childhood?

What are your favourite scents and smells now?

What are your favourite sights and sounds now?

My favourite scents and smells from my childhood are:

-Fields of crocuses in the spring ….. just a blanket of purple covering the ground….so beautiful.

-Mom making french fries and fish ….. OMG…. loved smell and the vinegar….

-Spring, used to have a scent ….. fresh and clean…

-Lilac bushes …… the aroma …

My favourite sights and sounds from my childhood are:

-baby calves

-school bus picking us up for school

-playing in one of the clean sloughs and catching tadpoles

-Grandma’s flower garden

-playing with my siblings ….. hide and go seek most especially ….

Now here are some of my favourite smells, sights and sounds:

There are so many things that I love as an adult but it is funny how refined my list was from my childhood.

I did and do still love the simple things in life …..

Better add “COFFEE” to the list ….. I love the smell of coffee.

So as you are thinking back remembering those sights and sounds and smells …… smile and have a great day.

Happy Friday.

Thank you.

Special Hello to: all my childhood friends ……. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday, February 7th, 2013.

I was just thinking about how we sometimes forget to thank people for the things that they do for us.

Or perhaps we are thankful for what they do but we forget to tell them.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my daughter and son-in-law who safely transport me, body and mind to my place of employment each and everyday.

Thank you so much.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my neighbours “J” & “T” and “S” who take turns with me shovelling each other’s sidewalks.

Thank you so much.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my Grandma Stella who taught me the importance of manners and being polite when I was a small girl.

It is something that I have taken with me each and every moment of my life; and passed it onto my daughter.

I also want to thank my Grandma Stella for being a strong independent woman, teaching me to dance and for lending her name and fashion sense to our jewellery.

Thank you Grandma …

I also want to thank my sister who has always remained my strongest supporter, ally, and friend over our lifetimes, and continues to listen and be supportive.

Thank you my Sister…

I have so many people who truly matter and make a difference in my life each and everyday.

Some of these people I know very well and others I have never met.

But to each and everyone of you …. THANK YOU.

It is simple I know but it is from my heart …. THANK YOU.

Have a great day.

Pass it on ….. tell the next person that you see “THANK YOU”  ….. it doesn’t matter for what …. just be grateful for them.

Having manners and being mindful of what they truly mean is a great gift.

So share your gift(s) with the world.

Thank you for reading my blog and that number keeps growing and that makes me so happy, pleased, joyful and grateful.

Your time is important.

Special Hello to:  to those people who have manners and know how to use them…… thank you.

Thought for the day…..

Good Monday Morning and Welcome to February 4th, 2013…..

Today is my youngest niece’s 16th Birthday ….. Happy Birthday “M” ….. we wish you a great Day and Year to follow.

OMG, “16” …… I remember being sixteen ….. that sometimes feels like an eternity ago.

I guess it was …. I just grabbed the calculator to do the math when I realized that I turn “56” this summer and that it was “40” years since I celebrated that special birthday.

What did I do?  …..I am not even sure if I had a cake but I do remember that it was the last birthday that I celebrated with all of my siblings.

It was my last birthday at home, and for that it was extra special.

My birthday is in August and that September my paternal Grandpa passed away several hundred miles away,  and I left home to live with my Grandma.

It was a totally different experience and even though I missed my siblings terribly it was good living with my Grandma.

She taught me so much.

I was “16” and she was “72” ….. what a combination.

I am certain that when I turned sixteen in August that I never for one minute thought that the following month I would not be living with my sister and brothers.

Things can change in the blink of an eye.

We always have to be mindful and live the best that we can in every moment of every day.

Now I grant you that some moments it might be less easy to do so but try.

I think seeing the glass half full and seeing yourself with abundance is more fun than the other way around …..

I know that sometimes you may think …. “I would love to stay in bed” or “Do I have to go to work?” or “Really, I have to cook yet another supper?”

But even though I have the odd moment of that …. I change it up and think “I have a comfy bed and am blessed” ….. “I have income so that I can live my life” ….. “I have good food to eat” …..

There is always a good side to everything …. sometimes you just have to look or think about it for a little bit.

But it is there.

So on this beautiful Monday morning I wish you a great day.

May you be blessed with a comfy bed, means so that you can live a good life and food in your belly.

Because we truly have so much …..

Shine on …. shine on ….. today is your day……  🙂

Special Hello to:  the Birthday GIRL “M” and all those folks celebrating birthdays and other special occasions today.

Always, Carol and Alvin ……

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Thursday, September 20, 2012 …. only two days until it is officially “Autumn” or “Fall” whichever you prefer.

I am so excited …… I have noticed that the leaves are already turning glorious shades of yellow, red and orange.

It looks like a rain shower but with leaves when the wind blows ….. so beautiful.

I love walking in the fallen leaves as they crunch below my feet.

It is so wonderful …… the air is so calming …..

Last night Alvin and I went for our walk but had company.

My daughter and her two pups came with me ….. my grand-puppies.

It is so funny …. I took some treats with me and when Amanda said to her Elton …. go see “Grandma” ….. he came right over to me.

They recognize my name not as Carol but as Grandma…… isn’t that funny.

We had a wonderful nice long walk ….. there was not a breath of wind and it was just a perfect temperature for walking.

I am so grateful for this weather and this time of year.

I am so grateful that I live close to my daughter and her family.

I am so grateful that I have this computer so that I can share my life with you.

I am so grateful that people like to hear my stories …..

Well I better get running along here ……

I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to:   EVERYONE ….. today is the day.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…….

Good Monday Morning – today is January 9th, 2012.

Another gorgeous morning.

Alvin is resting on the foot of my bed (he goes up there while I am getting dressed in the morning).

I was thinking this morning as I was writing in my gratitude / daily journal how much I loved having him snuggle on my lap as I write.

OMG, he can curl up ….. I shall deem him the MASTER of curling up.

He looked so cute.

He makes my mornings ….. somehow getting up at 5:00 is much easier with him here to go through the process.

He is such great company.

I hope that you all have someone to wake up to ….. whether four-legged or two …..

The four-legged ones (like Alvin) are there every step of the way (whether I am eating or getting dressed or brushing my teeth …. he’s there).

Today I am extra grateful to have Alvin here with me.

Special Hello to:  my great nephews Azlin, Zane and Ezzy (we SKYPED on Saturday and was so great to seem them all and of course, their Mom, Sara and their Grandma, my sister Cindy).

What a great way to begin a Saturday afternoon …… visiting with children …..

Always, Carol
