Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 8th day of July, 2015.

Mid week ….. sunny with signs of fires still lingering in the air.

SMOKE ….. you can smell it everywhere.

Did you know most forest fires can be prevented?

There is a breeze this morning which is nice so the air feels refreshing.

Supposed to be plus 30 degrees celsius.

That is hot for me.

Definitely a day to turn on the air conditioning otherwise Mr. Alvin will hot.

News: Mr. Alvin is starting to use the new ottoman to get onto the bed but still not sure about coming down.  He is one funny guy.  Oh well, hopefully he will get used to it this century …. I sure hope.  Poor guy.

I am so grateful that I live where I live …. am surrounded by the best neighbours on the planet …… am in good health …… am part of a great family …… feeling very very blessed this Wednesday.

So am leaving the house in a “Happy State of Mind” ……..

I hope that happiness surrounds you this day and everyday.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” who keeps finding doggies and getting them home.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 6th day of May, 2015.

Waking up to a brand new world for Albertans.

After 44 years of Progressive Conservatives in government we have a new party leading the way, the New Democratic Party.

Perhaps a change will get us back on track.

Also woke up to SNOW ….. yes, SNOW.

I could hardly believe it and then my thoughts went back to last night and there was just something in the air.

Confirmed this morning when I looked out of the window.

“Oh, and when my friend and I arrived for bootcamp we were surprised to see a POLLING STATION.

They forgot to tell us….. oh well.”

On mornings like these it would be nice to just let Alvin out to do his morning constitutional and then go back to BED.

But that is not happening this day as I am off to work.

Yes, I have not forgotten to go and see Miss Aussie, she needs some attention, food, water and medicine.

Oh, and our new Premiere is a WOMAN.

So on this Wednesday I am grateful for the moisture even though it is not clear and requires me to carry an umbrella.

I am grateful for change in our government, which I believe to be a good thing.

I am grateful to be ahead of schedule this morning.

I am grateful to be alive and in good health.

I am grateful that Alvin loves to be on my lap while I write in my gratitude journal before breakfast.

So this is a “GRATE”day.

Well I have to add a couple of items to the outdoor apparel before leaving to see Miss Aussie and for my walk to the bus.

I hope that you have a grand day …..

Special Hello to: all of the Mothers out there this is our week …… we are grateful for each and every MOM.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 24th day of April, 2015.

Well it is finally Friday …..

Are you thinking that as well?

I know that is like seeing the glass half empty inside of half full but it has been a long week.

Work at the office has been extremely busy and a bit on the stressful side.

But that is life and at the end of the day I am very grateful to have a good job in this economy.

Plans for the weekend?

Well, my “to do list” keeps growing every time I turn around.

So I will be busy.

Lawn care ….. laundry ….. cleaning bathrooms ….. dusting ….. floors …. you know that STUFF.

The best part of the weekend other than being at home with me Alvin is that Amanda and family are coming for brunch on Sunday and a visit.  YAY.

We are still adjusting to the quietness of the two of us.

I am sure it will take time to once again being just the two of us.

I am so grateful to be down to one job ….. two jobs is HARD WORK.

Not the work as much as the time ….

Time away from home …… when home everything has to be done in less time.

Always boils down to TIME.

Either too much or not enough.

I guess for most of us it is not enough.

Just have to reconfigure the best use of it.

So I am grateful to be home in the evenings and weekends.

Well here it is time to put on the finishing touches and catch that old bus to work.

I guess for the most part we are in a routine ….. for now.

I feel great ….

So happy that this day is Friday.

Special Hello to: my sister ……. it is time to SKYPE and catch up.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 21st day of October, 2014.

It is another beautiful morning here in Edmonton.

Yesterday it hit low 20’s (degrees celsius) ….. so great for October.

Last night we all went for a wonderful walk (me, my daughter, son-in-law and all the puppies).

I was thinking about the “Bucket List.”

Perhaps we should do the reverse.

Make a list of all of the things that you have done over your life.

Maybe your list looks like this:

1.  gave birth to a beautiful daughter and amazing human being

2.  visited the World Trade Centre

3.  learned how to walk again after mysterious “illness”

4.  have met some of the most incredible human beings – just around my neighbourhood

5.  lives in a peaceful nation

6.  spent a winter in MacAllen, Texas and swam in the water by Padre Island (Gulf Coast)

7.  adopted the most loveable puppy named Alvin

8.  retired from a job with 30 years and started second career

There are so many things that you and I have already done …… you have created your own bucket list by just living your life.

I am so grateful for all of the things that I have done thus far and hope to add more to the list.

Have fun creating your list.

Special Hello to: everyone

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to a Fantastic Sunny Friday 13th day of June, 2014.

WOW ….. I am totally doing the happy dance as I am so HAP HAP HAPPY that I have flowers.

I have a huge pot of impatiens on the front porch and another one that at this very moment cannot remember the name.

At the back on the deck I have 11 ….. yes eleven pots of varying sizes FILLED with YES, you guessed it “FLOWERS.”

Pinks and purples and blues are the colour pallet for this year.

OMG, they are so pretty.

I took some photos but did not download them to the computer but I will share very soon.

Also was up late planting and then walking with Alvin …..

So have to run ….. so grateful for all of my flowers.

I hope that you have a Great Friday ……

Special Hello to: my flower lovers ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to a Wonderful Wednesday the 12th day of February, 2014.

How are you doing this fine morning?

I hope that you are feeling great and are ready to start the best day of your life.

Did you say “thank you” for everything in your life as you arose from bed and got ready to start the day?

Did you eat a good breakfast?

Am I starting to sound like your “Mother?”

Time to “laugh” ……

Both of the above are so important to getting off to a great start.

Being thankful and grateful for being awake and alive.

Being thankful for food in your belly.

Being thankful for clean drinking water.

Being thankful for your loved ones.

Being thankful for your job.

When you are thankful for what you have   –   you are allowing more to come into your life.

So on this mid week day be grateful.

I hope that you have the best day of this New Year.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: EVERY SOUL ….. YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO US ALL.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the very first day of January and of the New Year “2014.”

Well we were in bed before midnight.

We did see the ball drop in New York due to the time difference, thank you.

Someone in the neighbourhood lit fireworks so we listened to them but I was too “lazy” to get out of bed to see them.

I read the first chapter of one of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book “Change your thoughts …. Change your life.”

Good way to end 2013 ….. reading.

I hope that you all had a great New Year’s Eve.

Now we are entering another New Year.

Time to be better people.

We can do it.

Starting today ….. be kind ….. be good …. be generous and be grateful.

Well I am on my way to the store to work a shift.

Should be fun …. I get to say “Happy New Year” ……

Much more fun than “Good Morning or Good Afternoon.”

Thank you for reading my blog.

I am so grateful.

Special Hello to: friends and family all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 17th day of September, 2013.

So did you have a great Monday and did you perform a random act of kindness?

Did you know that it doesn’t have to be huge?

It could be something like “paying a compliment to someone.”

Say thank you ….

Say please …..

I think that we need to say more positive things to people.

We often hear the negative side of everything whether at home or at work.

We need to appreciate people more.

ENOUGH of this negative nilly stuff.

I want to hear good things.

I want to know that I am appreciated.

I want to know that I matter.

I want to know that someone cares.

I want to know that my hard work is noticed.

After all, don’t we all.

So when you think that you have to bark orders, yell at someone for making a mistake or be a negative nilly – think again.

BEING KIND AND APPRECIATIVE AND GRATEFUL will get you way farther and besides you feel so much better.

I know it is not always the easiest thing to do but perhaps if we all tried a bit harder we would be in a better place.

Please try for me.

Have the best day ever.

Make your day by making someone else’s.

Special Hello to: my sister – I think of you always and miss the times we lived together…. 🙂 and see you in three sleeps …. YAY.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Dear Sister, (she is the cuteness on the left)

This is one of my most favourite photos of you and me.

I just want you to know that I appreciate you so much.

You are always there when I need you – no questions asked.

You are honest and true.

Loving and Kind.

Thank you ……
