2021

Good Morning All!

I thought a great way to start this Thursday morning would be with photos. I have taken these over the past couple of days. My tree as it turns to gold. The morning sky two mornings ago rich in a lavender pink hue. Last night I picked some of my flowers from the pots that are still doing okay and thought that I would have some mini bouquets in the house. The greenery in with the pink geraniums has lasted since I received my birthday bouquets. So beautiful. I am surrounded by greenery with pops of colour on the main floor of my house and I also have some plants in my office (water me please).

Well I am not sure that Alvin is cut out for moving back upstairs just yet especially when I have to carry him up and down. He seems to wake up every couple of hours and is finding it hard to settle down. I am thinking that the dog bed and cushions that surround part of the bed should he have decided to jump are freaking him out. I guess that makes sense. I have noticed that when we sleep on the sofa, he sleeps a bit longer. Maybe it is age and all of that. I don’t know for sure. Just going to take things one day at a time. Tonight we will sleep on the sofa to see if I can get a bit more zzzz’s. The sun is up and it looks like a beautiful day ahead. We are going to visit our friend Pauline after work, cannot wait. We should be able to walk at noon, as well. Great. We can always use the exercise.

I am excited as the new fall season has started and I have already started to see some of my shows returning. I always love the first episode ….. they always leave us on the edge of our seats.

Well, this will be short and I apologize but I think that Alvin has to go outside. He is downstairs as I came up to make the bed, shower and do this post.

Wishing you an awesome Thursday. If you have an opportunity to go outside and if you are fortunate to have a green space nearby, go there. Walk about. Stop and close your eyes for a few moments and breathe in that outside air. Soon enough winter shall be upon us and the air is definitely different, lol.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, gratitude, love and laughter.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 15th day of April, 2018.

Overcast this morning but not cold outside.

I have a pool of water taking up most of the green space in the back yard.

It is waiting for the ground to thaw and for warmer temperatures to carry it out to the storm drain.

Gotta love spring.

At the other end of the water is a snowbank.

Poor Alvin …. no where to go.

Thankfully there remains some snow on the deck for those early morning bathroom breaks and at night.

Slowly the snow is melting.

When I look down our street it still looks like winter.

On the side that faces north there remains about two or so feet of snow on the front yards and on the side that faces south, NONE.

I was listening to a program on television reporting about the melting permafrost in the Northern part of Canada.

Slowly land is disappearing and falling away.

Anything buried in the permafrost over time since perhaps the beginning of time is thawing.

Scary thought.

Bacteria, dust and mold.

All once frozen is thawing.

Anthrax from a once frozen animal has made a child deathly ill.

I am not quite certain how I went from spring to the melting permafrost in our North.

Point being our climate – our environment is changing.

We see it in many ways all around the world.

If you think that picking up that piece of styrofoam laying on the front lawn Or that flicking your cigarette butt into the storm drain DOES NOT MATTER,

You are sadly mistaken.

Our oceans are filled with garbage.

Microscopic plastic fibres are finding their way into the drinking water.

Marine life are eating what they think is food.

We are eating that marine life.

Something to think about.

It is not something we can ignore any longer.

Special Hello to:   all residents of the planet Earth.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 12th day of July, 2016.

Another mixed weather morning although the sun is shining and reflecting off of my neighbour’s garage making it seem quite bright out of the office window.

Now it is time for some sunshine so that things can grow and develop.

Yesterday my grand-puppy Elton celebrated his “13th” Birthday ….. he is doing so well.

I am so grateful for every extra day we have with this awesome guy.

Thank you to my daughter and son-in-law for taking a chance and literally adopting him in the parking lot of the Human Society.

You never know where you will find love.

Last night on our walk we heard “Oh Carol” in a British accent coming from somewhere and then I realized it was my friend “P” who was standing behind her flowers in the back yard as we were walking by.

She has the most glorious garden.

They just returned from a wonderful vacation in Alaska.

She said it was her favourite trip and the landscape was incredible, different at every angle.

They met some interesting people along the way as well.

I am happy to have her back home.

Both Alvin and I missed her.

Alvin and I love stopping by to admire her garden and to visit.

How are you doing today?

I was just wondering.

Please take a few minutes for yourself.

Go for a walk and enjoy the green space in your neighbourhood.

If you do not have any green space then maybe walk to your nearest flower shop …. some place where you can connect with nature.

Take off your shoes and wiggle your toes in the grass.

Smell a flower.

If you have no green space then go to a quiet place and put down a blanket and look up and admire the sky.

I think you could find a spot.

Take some time – just for you.

You deserve it.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my sister … who makes me laugh.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 12th day of May, 2015.

Sun coming up …..

Great start to this wonderful Tuesday morning.

Last night I raked the front lawn and gathered up the hundreds of cork size bits of soil from the aeration.

I thought it would never end.

There literally were hundreds of them.

Also just saying ….. THEY WERE HEAVY when placed in the recycling bag.

Followed by a good watering.

The ground is so dry that watering is likely in the future if we want green grass unless Mother Nature decides to help us out.

Mr. Alvin was out with me for a bit until he was so excited by something that I could not see that I let him back into the house.

It was so relaxing and so much fun being outside doing this small amount of yard work.

No matter what our days are filled with …. work …. school whatever …. we have our homes.

Most of us are so blessed to have our own homes.

I know that I cannot speak for everyone.

If you are blessed enough to have your own yard or even a balcony or patio space ….. go OUTSIDE.

Use it.

Plant some flowers ….. maybe some herbs or veggies …. put a chair out there.

It is so great to be outside ….. most of us do not fully utilize our green space.

Even if you do not have your own ….. there are parks usually not far away …..

Have fun, enjoy.

We also enjoyed a beautiful walk last night.

Well time to finish getting ready to go to the office.

Have a great Tuesday ……

Deep breath … you can do it.

Special Hello to: my cousin “J” in Saskatoon ….. miss you cousin.

Always, Carol and Alvin
