The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? Well, I hope and trust. Me, well I hit that darn SNOOZE button on my phone more than once this morning and now I am racing to get things done. My fault. I am not sure why as I was awake, just finding it difficult to get out from underneath that red cozy blanket snuggled beside the Alvin while listening to the wind howling. For some reason the wind does not give me incentive to get my butt moving in the morning. Unfortunately for me, there has been a lot of wind howling going on here in the past few days and even weeks. Thankfully not everyday until recently. I will say it is nice to be looking out of my office window and seeing the sunrise. It is so pretty. Makes me smile and feel good. I can smell my coffee waiting for me to drink. Thank goodness today is Friday. We made it to yet another weekend.

Alvin had a good vet appointment yesterday. No ear infection. He got an oral vaccine for a word that starts with a b and I cannot remember how to spell it at this moment. Too much of a hurry to stop and figure it out. Not important. He does need to have his teeth cleaned sometime in the coming months. Which I was not surprised by. So do I. It is funny that the best things in life are free like snuggling with Alvin and walking but to keep him alive and healthy COSTS so much money. Same thing applies to us. We in ourselves are free but everything to stay alive and well costs money. Isn’t life so much fun, lol.

I was so grateful to have my neighbours car to drive to the vet. She is parking in our garage for the time being as parking is little or none and when her guy is home, well, not enough room for them both in her garage. Anyway, it was great not to have to worry about walking over the ice and water to the vet. Dangerous even. We had a little situation as we were leaving but thankfully my neighbour was able to come over right away and help me. Ended well.

Anyway, I was so happy when they announced the total of my vet bill yesterday as it was much less than originally quoted which leaves me money for groceries. Oh, I am not starving as I have my pantry and freezer with food. But never good to be completely without funds. I also picked up his food, toothpaste, movoflex so he is also good to go. Thank heavens for that.

Well I have to sign off. Sorry for the short post. I think we can all agree that we have been there – hitting that darn snooze button in the morning.

I hope that you have an awesome Friday. Be safe and take careful.

So light out now. YAY. Spring is close.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

2021

Good Morning ALL! Hard to believe we are now at FIVE sleeps until Christmas EVE. I am starting to get SUPER excited for Christmas. Later this afternoon our little neighbour Cookie is coming over to spend the next two weeks with us. We are preparing for her arrival. I got most of the laundry done yesterday. Spare room bedding all washed and changed, should someone other than my kids spend the night. I made a double batch of fudge as somehow we ran out of fudge and we cannot have that. I had to make a bit of change to it as I was short of chocolate chips so I added a bit of peanut butter. So will see how that goes over. I sure hope that no one has any allergies to peanut butter. It is the only item made with peanuts. I did my last shopping which included gifts for Mr. Alvin, Aspen, Milo and Cookie. That took two hours and I will say quite a lot of money, things should have increased over the past year or so. I am grateful that I did in fact have the money to pay for them although I was a bit disappointed that Shoppers did not honour the President’s Choice Gift Card that I received from my Employer. Oh well.

Last night I wrapped the gifts for the pups and one extra item that I picked up for my son-in-law’s stocking. Alvin was sniffing around the table where I was wrapping as he did smell in the shopping bag some little peanut butter treats that I picked up along with their main gifts. I added ribbon and secured the treats for the pups and put them into the fridge. Once the gifts were wrapped I debated about putting them under the tree as we know what happened last year. I had them on the kitchen counter and then thought that would be four more gifts under the tree which would look nice so I went to put them under the tree and guess who was in there like a dirty shirt? You got it, Mr. Alvin. So back to the counter they went. Last year I was in the kitchen working and I heard this rustling in the living room so I quickly went to check things out only to find someone had found his gift amongst all the presents under the tree and was starting to open it. OMG. I did not wish a replay of last year. So the gifts will remain on the counter in the kitchen.

This morning I will vacuum, dust and clean the bathrooms and the floors. Hoping to get out for a little walk with Mr. Alvin before our company arrives. It is to be minus 12 celsius this afternoon which is the warmest temperature according to the long range forecast for awhile. So we shall see. I have shovelling to do because it snowed more overnight. Thank you to our neighbour Steve for shovelling the front walk decreasing the amount that I have to do. There is snow in the forecast so I will have to stay on top of it. The sun is shining which energizes me. The coffee has perked so time for a coffee break. Lots to do before 4:00 p.m. and luckily there is pizza left from Friday for more leftovers tonight. Planned that right, yes, I did.

Happy Birthday to my great nephew LEVI who turns THREE today. I cannot believe you are three. We wish you a wonderful day and year to come.

Have an awesome day everyone!

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? 10 sleeps till Christmas Eve Day. Yesterday it started to snow late afternoon and did not stop overnight. We woke up to I would say a couple feet of snow to shovel. I had to shovel some of the deck at 5:00 a.m. so that Alvin could go outside to do his business otherwise I would have lost him in the snow. Plus he likely would not have gone out. We were in bed just before 10:00 last night and not up until almost 5:00 this morning. YAY, Mr. Alvin. Before getting ready for work after getting up at 6:40, I went to shovel the front thinking that I would beat my friend’s boyfriend out to shovel the front but we were out at the same time. He was just on his way to work and only had time to do theirs, I said that I wanted to do theirs as well but just did not get out early enough. I am grateful that he did shovel their half as there is a lot of snow. Certainly do not want to overdo things. Anyway, I want to go out and shovel the driveway and ensure that my recycling isn’t covered in the snow otherwise the garbage person will not see it. They are usually out and about before now but imagine they are running late. For all those people in our area, please be careful if you have to drive anywhere today. There is one heck of a lot of snow. Thankfully it is not wet but dry snow and not cold out.

Yesterday I took the afternoon off from work to go with one of my friend’s to Costco to get groceries. I am so glad that I did. I was able to finish my shopping for the humans and get some food items for Christmas. YAY, me. It was busy but didn’t take us long to get in and get out.

Last night I delivered more Christmas baking packages to friends and neighbours. I had a few visits along the way. I was out for 1.5 hours and everyone is less than 5 minutes away. Nice to chat with my friends. Catch up.

Well I had better get out there if I am going to do some more shovelling. Be careful out there and have a great day. Feels like Christmas now.

P.S. never a dull moment with the weather.

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you on the second day of December 2021? When we went to bed the sky was clear and I could see the stars. At 3:00 a.m., stars, at 4:30 a.m., overcast and now at 6:30 a.m. it is snowing. That wet sticky stuff. At least it does not appear that we had freezing rain – so hopefully the roads are okay for everyone when they are out and about this morning. It is still dark outside as the days quickly approach the shortest day of the year and then like magic they will start to lengthen. Alvin is patiently waiting for me outside the office door. Yesterday we thoroughly enjoyed a couple of walks to the park. I long for our walks around the neighbourhood but if Alvin can or only wants to walk to the park and home that will have to suffice. He does not appear to be in pain. This afternoon he has his regular vet appointment and will have his long nail trimmed.

Today is payday so I was up a bit early to pay bills and as I was on the computer anyway, thought that I would do my post before heading into the shower. So grateful for three pays this month. It is nice to have when it is a more expensive than usual month.

This afternoon I am borrowing my neighbour’s car so that I can pick up Alvin’s food, mail my Christmas cards and get groceries. We can walk to his appointment later but so nice not to have to worry about carrying things or catching a cab. Not sure that I am ready to catch a cab just yet. Today is a busy day for sure. Lots to do. I hope that I can find everything on my list.

Do you think about how all the flooding and fires will affect the food chain? When crops fail inevitably prices increase and also some things may temporarily be off the shelves. How does it affect the economy, the money that people have to spend. How do the farmers manage? Pretty intense thoughts for this early in the morning but that is where my brain went. I think of all the farmers in British Columbia who have had not only their lives and that of the animals threatened or harmed but of their livelihood threatened or destroyed. I always marvel at how farmers seem to carry on despite so much uncertainty. This morning I am thinking of the farmers in British Columbia and everywhere. Thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you. I hope that you and your families and the animals are safe and well.

On this Thursday, be safe and well.

Just a random beautiful photo of farm land. Not sure where it is but is very beautiful.

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you this Monday morning? Hard to believe the weekend is over already. Where does the time go? Alvin is patiently waiting in the hallway for me. He is laying on his tummy. I finished the Christmas cards and letters to be mailed yesterday. So once the photos arrive and are placed in with the cards and are sealed – they will be ready to be mailed. The mail to date is for December 2, 2021. I think that I read somewhere that our postage is increasing in the new year. Isn’t everything? It is pretty scary to think that there may be some shelves at the grocery store empty over the next days, weeks and months ahead. Items that are stuck in transit or just are beyond the reach of the grocers. I see very likely that our diets will change accordingly. With the recent events (flooding) in the Fraser Valley – the farm area – it will definity affect all of us. The farmers will be reeling from the loss and it will then turn to the consumer. Then there are the storage containers stuck in port in both Canada and the U.S. We may be reaching the end of the Pandemic or are we? I have not looked at the number lately but I have hope that people will get vaccinated and slow down the variants. Who would have thought that all this would happen? It sounds like a movie. I just take one day at a time. Keeping all those affected one way or the other in my thoughts and heart. It is surely getting crowded in there but you know I am feeling a lot of gratitude for my life. I have a nice home, Alvin and I are in good health, I am employed and able to work from home, I am able to plan my meals around what is accessible, I have clean drinking water, I have heat in my home, I am surrounded by good neighbours, I have a wonderful family and so much more. So everyday I am grateful. It is gratitude for my life and all those in it that get me through each and every day. No matter what has happened or will happen, I am grateful. Grateful that the sun rises each and every morning. Grateful that when Alvin wakes up – I can get up with him. Grateful that I wake up each and every morning. Grateful when I sit up and swing my legs over to the floor that my legs and feet will carry me whenever I need to go. There may be some moments when I am scared or nervous or stressed but I try very hard to keep those moments to just moments. Changing your thoughts to those of gratitude can certainly make a huge difference in one’s life. Life is seldom 100% silk and satin. There is always roughness along the way. The way we think and feel determines the difference between silk & satin and roughness. Feeling grateful for all that we have smooths away the roughness leaving the softness of silk and satin. I hope that you have more silk & satin in your life than roughness. Remember the mindset …… GRATITUDE. Truly it makes all of the difference.

Well time to go and put on the coffee pot. Work in a little bit. Still dark outside. Sunrise in a bit. Have the strength to have the gratitude for your life.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love, laughter and gratitude.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. I baked some yummy cookies as I needed some sweet treats. Chocolate chip with some Halloween treats – smarties, cut up twix bars, and M&M’s. So yummy. That is what I did yesterday afternoon after our walk.

2021

Good Morning ALL! I hope that you are well this morning! Also sending positive thoughts and energy out to all my friends and family. I hope that the fog is lifted, the job is secure and more orders come in, that good health is once again restored and life is less complicated. Last night we were in bed a bit later than usual, shortly after we laid down, Mr. Alvin was frantically rubbing his ear against the bed as he laid down, then he would jump up and shake his head and then lay down and lick his paws. I tried to soothe him as much as possible and after a few minutes of this, I got an idea. Off downstairs I went. In the drawer I secured one of his tramadol pills and in the fridge grabbed his wet food. In a small bowl I placed the pill inside a bite sized piece of food, put the food back in the fridge, rinse the spoon and went back upstairs. He was very happy to have more food and very easily took the pill which was hidden inside. In a little bit of time, he had calmed down and was able to sleep. He has not shook his head or rubbed his ear yet this morning. Was it possibly that his paws were bothering him so much that he did not know what was hurting. Or what? I do not know for sure. His ears look good. I was so careful when I gave him a bath not to get any water in his ears. So for today, I will monitor him and if he shows any signs of discomfort or pain, I will be calling the vet to make him an appointment. My poor boy. At this moment he is laying on his round dog bed which has a new home in my upstairs office.

Yesterday we had a nice walk at noon. It was a bit cool and windy but not bad for this time of year. After work I made another great escape by borrowing my neighbour’s car and going to both Shoppers and Save-On Foods. Both stores were surprisingly busy for that time of day. I guess most people had the same idea as I did. While in the checkout at Shoppers I noticed that they had self-serve areas and happened to say it to the Customer Service Clerk who said “Yes, they were put in back in May” and I replied “Oh I hadn’t realized it was that long since I was in the store and continued to tell her about my neighbours and daughter who for the past 18 months have been picking up my groceries. Lately I have been going myself but only once every couple of weeks. Sometimes my daughter picks me up things in between or another friend grabs me coffee from Costco or other items, if I need or on a good sale.

I was back home in less than one hour. At home first thing after parking, hauling the groceries to our porch and returning the keys to my neighbour and then placing the bags inside the door – I quickly gave Mr. Alvin his supper. He does not appreciate being late for supper. He is so funny that way. A foodie for sure.

The sunrise looks beautiful with streaks of pink and orange in between the layers of blue sky. I love this time of day ….. I especially love sunrises and sunsets. The colours bring me joy. Well on that note, I am going to sign off and head back downstairs. I hope that you have an awesome day. May your ears be clear, your hands and feed be pain free and may you be able to have a nap anytime you wish and that you sleep through the night! Be in good health.

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you on this Friday, November 5th, 2021? I am well and super happy today is Friday and the beginning of the weekend. Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely walk at my lunch break. Alvin has definitely slowed down while walking and is taking each moment to sniff every blade of grass and every leaf that has fallen onto the ground. If I wasn’t with him, he would still be out there sniffing, I would think other than the fact that he does not like to be alone. I was in the shower a few minutes ago and he was safely in the bedroom with me. He started barking while I was in the shower, of course, not like I could get out quickly so I called out to him and he did not stop. So I quicken my pace and got out and realized that he was trying to get a drink of water from his dish and I think that he could not see it. I had the light on in the ensuite off the master bathroom but no lights on in the bedroom. There is no door on my bathroom so it was not pitch dark in the bedroom but not bright light by his dish. So I quickly grabbed a towel and turned on the bedside lamp closest to his water dish. Then he stopped. Might have had something to do with me being there but even once I went back to the bathroom, he no longer barked. If this is something new, I worry about those days when I have to go to the office. Guess I will have to leave a light on the main floor. Thankfully I only have to go to the office every couple of months or so. So grateful to be working from home. I will keep repeating this as I am truly feeling this way.

Yesterday my daughter had another dental appointment (she is having a tooth straightened). After her appointment she had to run to the grocery store so she asked if I needed anything. Silly girl, when doesn’t the momma need something, just kidding. I asked her to pick up a few vegetables, bananas and vegetable oil. Last night I made a stir fry for supper, it was so good. While my daughter was here she helped me bring the Christmas Tree upstairs and we had a couple of giggles over that. She also helped me to erect the tree. Now it is ready to decorate tonight. At lunchtime I am going to run to the vet and pick up food for Alvin and then we can go for a nice long walk after work and not have to rush. YAY.

Time to head back downstairs. I noticed there was heavy frost last night by the sight of car windows. I hope that you have an awesome day.

Continuing to live this with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding and gratitude.

2021

Good Morning ALL! Just back a few minutes ago from a nice early morning walk before the heat of the day. There is a bit of a breeze so it is perfect for a walk. While out on the walk I picked up a few pieces of trash so I figured not only did we get some exercise, we also did some community service. Right! The wild roses are blooming by the entrance to the park so we, rather I stopped to give them a sniff. My favourite fragrance next to summer rain and freshly cut grass. So gorgeous. So pretty. Today is my late shift that is why I left the post for a bit later than usual and decided to walk first. We went to bed later than usual last night and two hours later at midnight, guess who woke up and it wasn’t me? So off downstairs we went and outside. He had to pee so then back upstairs to bed. Next time we were up was 4:30 (man, did I feel that). So I gave him his glucosamine chew and his breakfast and then outside and then back to sleep for a bit on the sofa. To be honest, I had set the alarm on my phone for 6:15 but somehow I just could not do it so I set it for 6:30 and we were up at 6:45. Oh well, I am not perfect. When I am tired, I find it hard to get up unless I have no choice. Given the choice, well you know what I did. Oh well, no matter. We got our walk in and the coffee is perking and I am writing this post. Yesterday when I finished writing my post, I noticed that it was at 999, wondering if it is at the 1000 mark now. How exciting! I cannot believe that number. Guess I need to step up this post. I used to write more about different things but somehow fell of that wagon. Perhaps it is time to get going and start writing more poetry. Some crafting ideas. How about organizational ideas? I love to organize and people tell me that I am quite good at it.

Oh, I just got a waft of that freshly brewed coffee. I think that I will be able to enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck this morning as I do not start work until 11:00 a.m.

Yesterday my daughter stopped by after an appointment, she stopped and picked us up a few items from the grocery store. She is so kind and generous to her Momma. I love spending time with my girl.

I am grateful for the morning walk.

I am grateful for all my dear friends and family.

I am grateful for our good health.

I am grateful for all the people that we will meet.

I am grateful for our beautiful home.

I am grateful that the roses are blooming and smelling so fragrant.

I am grateful for my/our life.

Well somebody is acting up so better sign off for now.

I wish you a great Tuesday.

Good Morning ALL! How are you this Wednesday morning? Alvin and I had a great night sleep. I was just thinking that wow today is Wednesday. Isn’t it funny how we think on Monday morning ….. what a long way it is until the weekend! We are always wanting it to be the weekend until retirement when everyday is a weekend. Well today is Wednesday and I think that the week is going quickly and it is a ever running pattern of life as the days seem to accelerate with each passing year.

I was so happy to see my girl, my beautiful daughter and Alvin’s sister. We were waiting outside the garage as she came driving down the back lane, waving. I think that it is a great way to say HELLO. Waving madly hello with Alvin in my arms so that he could see her coming and also for safety’s sake as this was a last minute thought. I thought when I knew she was almost here that we would wait outside, I would open the garage door and wait with Alvin on the deck as he could not be without his harness for safety’s sake. I had not planned this ahead of time. When I opened the garage door and stepped inside I felt warm and it was cold in the wind on the deck. So I scooped up Mr. Alvin and held him in my arms. Walking to the garage pad we looked outside to see if she was coming and no, not yet. We walked around a bit back and forth until I saw her car turn from the main lane to our back lane and then starting to wave at her. When she was closer she started to wave. As she got nearer we moved back closer to the door to the garage while she backed into the garage. YAY, she had arrived. Once she was out of the car, I closed the garage door and she said hi to Alvin who was in my arms and then I put him down. We chatted while unpacking the groceries from the car. Each of us took a load and back and forth until we had all of my groceries in the house. I had put on a pot of coffee so I poured one for her right away and for me, too. So nice to have her with us. We chatted and chatted and chatted. She had picked up some Annie’s pasta so we had some of that for supper with some raw veggies. Chatting all the while. After supper we moved to the sofa and continued to chat and visit. Awhile later she was preparing to go to her home, to her husband and two pups Aspen and Milo. I am always grateful to see our girl and grateful for her looking after her Momma by picking up groceries. I am very spoiled.

This morning I noticed a bunny grazing on what is left of the food under my neighbour’s tree. I have raked up most of what was left of the food and a crazy amount of bunny poop. They must eat and then poop. He is pretty much brown now so summer is close at hand.

Well it is time for us to head back downstairs. I hope that you have an awesome day.

Maybe today is the day to reach out to someone, pick up the phone and call. Always nice to hear from family and friends. Even a text is nice. To contact is important.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion and patience to ALL.

2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you this morning? I am doing great. Funny start to the day. We had a good sleep. Alvin woke us up at 4:00 and we came downstairs. Decided to feed him and give him his glucosamine chew. Once he was done eating, outside he went. While he was outside at this time, I decided to change the clocks on the stove ahead one hour so that I would not forget when we got up for the day. Once he was back inside – we hit the sofa for some more sleep. Alvin woke up and it was already light out so I got up to check the time and it was 8:00 a.m., so I set the microwave timer for some extra time and headed back to the sofa. Alvin laid down for a bit and then was up. So I decided okay it was 8:23 or so, just get up. Something hit me between the kitchen and the living room and I realized it was Saturday. The girls are coming for coffee at 10:00 a.m. and the time changes Saturday night/Sunday morning. So actually it was 7:23 not 8:23 a.m. Changed the time back and stayed up. What the hay. But I was giggling to myself for the mixup.

Yesterday was awesome. The temperature allowed for me to wear only a long sleeved sweater and a “winter vest.” SUN shone brightly just as it is doing right at this very moment. My daughter picked up us and drove us to the Vet so that Alvin could get out his stitches. Both of the staff that were there had not seen/read the email from the Surgeon at that point so I happily told them the good news about Alvin. We were almost all in tears of joy. Alvin’s Vet Dr. Karen arrived shortly after we did. They were doing some surgery on a cat. An easy surgery. Thankfully. It only took a few seconds or seemed liked it to remove the stitches and he was back to me. I was waiting in one of the exam rooms. In the main lobby area we talked about his new food and other matters. I was able to pick up his new food both hard and wet. Happily surprised the price was not quite as much as I had thought it was going to be. So that is good. Although he will be eating more wet food so will be going through it more quickly but that is how it is going to be. Booked his next appointment for his nails etc. and then we were on our way. Courtney held and opened doors, Michelle carried the food and I with Alvin exited the building where my daughter was waiting for us. She had quickly gone over to StarBucks to pick up her free Birthday COFFEE. Once we got home we girls had coffee and went over what was required at the store. I had written up my list on the NOTES on my phone. So was easy to forward to her. After Amanda left for the grocery store I brought out some chairs and a bench from the garage as today the girls are coming for coffee on the deck. I took the steel/river rock top bistro table out of the garage and to the top of the first landing and left it there for my daughter to help me carry it down the steps. A few years ago, maybe two years ago, I would have carried it myself but I am getting smarter in my “old age” and decided better to have help. Once that was done, we were back in the house and did a few things and then sat down on the sofa and I had some coffee and Alvin just curled up beside me. I love that. It seemed like only a few minutes and Amanda was back from the store. We visited and then she was on her way with a quick stop before heading home. Alvin and I went for a walk. It was so gorgeous out. I only wore a long sleeved sweater and winter vest and shoes. Not even any mini gloves! We walked on the opposite side of the street where it appears to be spring or late fall and where the sidewalk is mostly dry. There were a few wet spots but mainly where there was a street or back lane to break up the public sidewalk. Several streets away from home, Alvin decided he wanted to cross to the other side of the street, I wondered why for a second, checking both directions for oncoming traffic and none we crossed. As we got to the snow back lining the other side of the street, I realized that he was going to see his best friend Teddy. Even after climbing over a small snowbank and down to the sidewalk he turned the right direction and literally pulled me to his friend’s house. I kept saying “Alvin, not today buddy” but he was firm in his decision and before I knew it he was crossing their driveway and heading up the steps. As I rang the doorbell, I could hear Teddy and Kobi barking. Then saw Iris peeking out of the window. Everyone was excited to see us as I apologized for just dropping in as they both replied “you are always welcome.” Before we got past the foyer, I explained to Iris that Alvin can no longer have any of the chews that the pups always have and she quickly picked them all up. We had the most enjoyable visit as we social distanced of course. I sat in a rocking chair and little Miss Kobi came and curled up by my feet, so sweet. Iris remarked “oh she missed her Auntie Carol.” It was a quick wonderful unplanned visit and we were all happy to see each other. I guess Alvin missed his buddy after all he has been through and the time since he last saw him. I see a sleepover in their near future. Once again we were on our way walking and enjoying the warm, sunshine of the day. I let Alvin lead the way. He took us down a different street on the opposite side from Teddy’s house and we made our way home from there. It was a wonderful feeling arriving home and having to wipe Alvin’s wet paws dry. What a wonderful time we had. Shortly thereafter, I was washing my hands and grabbing the ingredients to make the fruit pizza. I had the cream cheese softening on the counter. Fruit pizza is very easy to make but is time consuming. Have to make the cookie dough and bake. The cream cheese filling. Cut up the fruit. Make the orange glaze. All separately and then put together when the base and the glaze are cool so that the cream cheese does not go runny. Made the fruit pizza and was admiring it – even snapped a photo and then I realized that I had forgot to pour the glaze over the top. I actually even sent a photo to Amanda before the glaze went on and had her thinking that something was missing. Anyway, all good. Once done, it was almost time to feed Alvin and get changed and finish up the dishes from the baking. I had time to have a sip of coffee. The food arrived five minutes before the kids arrived. Perfect timing. I covered the bag with heavy tea towels to keep in the heat. Then the house was filled with family once again. We enjoyed our supper and conversation. After supper we decided we were too stuffed to enjoy the fruit pizza and played a game of sequence. All three of us were were in conversation and not 100% in the game but we had fun. After the game we had the fruit pizza. Poor Mr. Alvin was so sorry that he could not have some fruit. He really wanted some but I did not cave. He could not have the pizza anyway because of the sugar but I had some cut up in the fridge and it stayed in the fridge. Sure is hard to not give him fruit or vegetables. Alvin’s doctor is going to check and see if there are any fruits or vegetables that he could have. Oh, I forgot before the fruit pizza and the game – Amanda opened her birthday gift. Alvin and I got her a pair of earrings. Tiny silver hoops with her birthstone. She loved them. After dessert, Amanda and I went into the basement to go through some of her childhood toys and stuffies. They have neighbours that they are especially close to and they have a daughter and a son. The little girl is smitten with Amanda and even told her that she loved her. How sweet is that. Anyway said girl named Charlotte is turning 5 this month. How cool they even have birthdays in the same month. She wanted to give her a toy of some sort ….. maybe science set as she loves science and I suggested because of Charlotte’s love for her that she give her something that was hers when she was a little girl. So we went through containers until we found her bag of stuffies. We brought some things upstairs where she went through the bag of stuffies …. there was Miss Piggy, Rainbow Brite, one of the bugs from a Bug’s Life, Teddy Bears, Wuzzles and so many more that I cannot remember the names. She took the bag home but decided to give her the “Bug from a Bug’s Life” as she has an invisible friend and likes that particular movie. How cute. Anyway it was touching and brought back so many memories as she went through some of her toys and stuffies from her childhood. Now they are where they belong with Amanda. I miss them though …. my baby is not a baby … I guess my 41 year old daughter is a grown woman now…….

Well it is now after 8:30 and I had better get the show on the road. The girls will be here shortly. Yesterday was amazing and I am so grateful for every moment of the day.

Today is going to be great as well. I need some coffee and cannot wait until the girls arrive so will run down and make a couple of cups before making a pot closer to 10:00. I want to get some more chairs out of the garage. Was waiting for this morning.

Have an awesome day. Harness the joy that each moment brings and hold it close to your heart and keep those thoughts in the foreground of your mind as you make your way through this day and every day.

Living with kindness, respect, compassion and patience.

Always, Carol & Alvin
