Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 16th day of September, 2017.

Bright, sunny morning to start the day.

Looks like a bit of a breeze but it is SUNNY.

YAY, supposed to be a bit warmer than the past few days but it was great to have some rain.

Yesterday on the bus ride to work in the lower lying areas like the golf course, there was a light frosting.

Luckily my flowers survived for another day.

Perhaps it is time to start putting away the deck furniture and what not.

But alas it seems that as soon as you do that ….. something is closer to being on it’s way.

I can wait for it a bit longer.

Try and hold off putting things away until after Thanksgiving….. time will tell.

Some year it is a mad dash to put things away when the weather changes.

OR it freezes so hard that you cannot put out the plants and then you have to cut them down and put out the roots in the spring (talking about the pots that I have on the decks).

We are so excited because the grand-pups are going to being spending a few hours with us this afternoon, so excited to see them.

I was so grateful to find that blade for Alvin’s grooming kit so this morning will clean up his hair cut so that he looks his most handsomest self.

Well I guess nothing gets done if I am in the office …. laundry calling ….. have to eat and make COFFEE.

It would not be a Saturday morning without my perked coffee.

Oh, more more quick story.

Yesterday at work after having kind of a couple of trying days one of my co-workers (a guy) came up behind and said “Carol” …. I turned about to see that he was holding a massive amount of all different

coloured GERBER DAISIES in his hand and proceeded to tell that me “that because me and some of the other co-workers (girls) were also having a rough day or so he brought us flowers”.  We each got to

pick out our favourite colour.  How sweet.  I did feel badly for being out of sorts.  But truly I did have a situation that dropped me to my knees (work related so cannot give details) and made me gasp

with another’s reality and later made me realize that when people forget to do things, really they are little things but may be extra work for you ….. I should not complain (which I did) …. vented.

Anyway sorry for the semi cryptic message.

It was nice of my co-worker to give us flowers, very thoughtful and he is a sweet guy.

So onto the weekend …. hair cut sprucing up for Alvin ….. laundry ….. visit from the pups ….. YAY.

Special Hello to:   You and yours …. have a safe, happy, dry, warm, great weekend.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. always remember not to sweat the small things …. I have to remember that ……

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 12th day of July, 2016.

Another mixed weather morning although the sun is shining and reflecting off of my neighbour’s garage making it seem quite bright out of the office window.

Now it is time for some sunshine so that things can grow and develop.

Yesterday my grand-puppy Elton celebrated his “13th” Birthday ….. he is doing so well.

I am so grateful for every extra day we have with this awesome guy.

Thank you to my daughter and son-in-law for taking a chance and literally adopting him in the parking lot of the Human Society.

You never know where you will find love.

Last night on our walk we heard “Oh Carol” in a British accent coming from somewhere and then I realized it was my friend “P” who was standing behind her flowers in the back yard as we were walking by.

She has the most glorious garden.

They just returned from a wonderful vacation in Alaska.

She said it was her favourite trip and the landscape was incredible, different at every angle.

They met some interesting people along the way as well.

I am happy to have her back home.

Both Alvin and I missed her.

Alvin and I love stopping by to admire her garden and to visit.

How are you doing today?

I was just wondering.

Please take a few minutes for yourself.

Go for a walk and enjoy the green space in your neighbourhood.

If you do not have any green space then maybe walk to your nearest flower shop …. some place where you can connect with nature.

Take off your shoes and wiggle your toes in the grass.

Smell a flower.

If you have no green space then go to a quiet place and put down a blanket and look up and admire the sky.

I think you could find a spot.

Take some time – just for you.

You deserve it.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my sister … who makes me laugh.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 21st day of January, 2016.

I thought it would be fun to check out previous posts from years gone by.

This one is from today’s date but back in 2013.

To be honest I was going to share the one from this date in 2012 but the story made me cringe (something that scares me).

So I picked another one.

I think it is good to go back and see what was happening and what I/we were thinking.

I hope that you have an awesome Thursday.

By the way, just wanted to share that Alvin’s sister did not forget his birthday ….. she gave him a big bag of treats ….. he was so happy.

He loves them and is grateful to have such a wonderfully thoughtful sister.

Good Monday morning and welcome to January 21st, 2013.

We received another covering of snow last night, and it was still snowing when Alvin went out around 5:00 a.m.

I love how Alvin stands in the doorway ….. he sniffs ….. “pretend sneezes” and then if he really has to go …. he will go outside.

Meanwhile the temperature in the house has dropped by two degrees.  ( Just kidding ).

But he surely does take several minutes working up the courage to go outside.

Most especially when it is cold or raining.

I do not blame him …… poor little guy and all the other animals that have to do the same.

What’s new with you this Monday morning?

Did you have a quiet weekend?

Spent relaxing? or did you Work?

I did a mix of both and I suspect that most of you did as well.

Well today is my early start so have to run.

I hope that you stay warm and safe on this day.

I hope that you are happy, healthy and abundant.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: all those new pet owners ….. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Have a fun Thursday and spend a couple of minutes in reflection.

Looking back can be interesting.

Special Hello to: my fellow bloggers ….. isn’t it great to have a place to go back in time?

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 27th day of August, 2015.

Well it is another gorgeous morning here as the sun begins to rise later in the morning.

I love this time of day.

Quiet and lovely.

Alvin and I had a great walk last night sharing with two of our neighbours.

It was great.  She has a pup name Jasmine.

Jasmine is afraid of most dogs because she has been attacked but she “loves” Alvin.

He is just the best guy.

I am so proud of him.

He is definitely very loveable.

Right now the guy is sitting / laying / now walking into the office.

Checking things out.

He always waits for me to be done getting ready before going back downstairs.

Follows me wherever I go …. most times.

Well here we go again ….. must be almost fall …. my body is telling me to start preparing for winter.

Hibernating …… sleep.

This week all I want to do is to sleep in the morning.

Okay, gotta run.

Bad girl …… need to get up a few minutes sooner.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all those folks who are finding it hard to get going in the morning ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 8th day of July, 2015.

Mid week ….. sunny with signs of fires still lingering in the air.

SMOKE ….. you can smell it everywhere.

Did you know most forest fires can be prevented?

There is a breeze this morning which is nice so the air feels refreshing.

Supposed to be plus 30 degrees celsius.

That is hot for me.

Definitely a day to turn on the air conditioning otherwise Mr. Alvin will hot.

News: Mr. Alvin is starting to use the new ottoman to get onto the bed but still not sure about coming down.  He is one funny guy.  Oh well, hopefully he will get used to it this century …. I sure hope.  Poor guy.

I am so grateful that I live where I live …. am surrounded by the best neighbours on the planet …… am in good health …… am part of a great family …… feeling very very blessed this Wednesday.

So am leaving the house in a “Happy State of Mind” ……..

I hope that happiness surrounds you this day and everyday.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” who keeps finding doggies and getting them home.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 7th day of July, 2015.

The sky has been mostly overcast until this point at just after 6:00 a.m. when the sun is breaking through.

That is the view from my office window which faces southward.

Now the sun almost casts a glow over the houses as the trees sway in the morning breeze.

I am so grateful to live in such a great place.

I am grateful to have my own home.

I am grateful to have such a great guy as a companion, Mr. Alvin.

The best four-legged friend this Momma could ever ask for …… mmmm

Last night before Alvin and I went for our walk we had a couple of errands to do in our neighbourhood.

Dropping stuff off.

After completing our task we proceeded on our nightly walk.

The air was perfect.

Not too hot.

Not too cool.

Just the right amount of a breeze.

We bumped into Mr. Alvin’s girl friend’s Moms (they are sisters who live down the street from us).

Mr. Alvin loves his Abby ….. unfortunately she had gone for an earlier walk and the girls were out for a run.

We chatted and caught up and then we all went our separate ways.

Running is not for me.

I love to walk ….. not run.

I like to stop and smell the roses.

Just before we arrived home we saw our friends who have the most gorgeous yard.

The grass is now the most lush that I have ever seen it to be.

Just the right amount of TLC ….. oh my goodness so green … the perfect shade.

They have beautiful flowers …. a rock garden …. hedges ….. roses ….. just spectacular.

Nicest people and Mr. Alvin loves them.

Funny thing the girls caught up to us ….. LOL….. we were visiting again.

Well it was the best evening.

We have a great many of them and I am truly grateful.

Now if I could only persuade Mr. Alvin to use the new sofa ottoman to get onto and off of the bed.

Still isn’t using it all of the time…..

Stubborn boy …. not good with change.

Well time to put on the finishing touches before going to catch the bus.

Oh and my sister called me last night.

Didn’t I say it was the most perfect evening.

Could not ask for more…… family, friends …..

Special Hello to: my sister …. thank you for your call.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 15th day of May, 2015.

It is the long weekend here in Canada, and I also have today off.

So what do you think a person would be doing on their vacation day?

I thought a great way to get me started ,and because I missed a couple of classes is to go to BOOTCAMP.

The sky is overcast and it is windy.

The temperature in the house is 65 degrees …. but by the end of BOOTCAMP, I shall be nice and warm.

I did find my core …..

Now what?

It does require some work … oh, what am I saying …. it requires a lot of work.

I still have not got my head wrapped around fitting in yoga and some other exercises.

Once I get these into a regular routine with walking, life will be great.

But until then I shall do the best that I can.

I just keep telling myself that I am in great shape.

Always a work in progress.

This is one of those weekends where I have a TO DO LIST but I am going to what happens ….

Perhaps I shall clean the windows or maybe I will read my new book.

Perhaps I shall power wash the deck or maybe I will take an extra walk with Mr. Alvin.

Actually I decided that part of this weekend would be his ….. bath …. more playtime.

He needs some extra attention….. my little guy.

Well time to get ready for bootcamp.

Put on the lightest, coolest clothing that I own.

By coolest, I mean light weight.

Definitely not COOL …… if you know what I mean.

Oh well.

Grab the water bottle, yoga mat and TOWEL.

A girl always needs a little towel to wipe her brow!

Special Hello to: my sister …. we have to sKYPE this weekend.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Happy Mother’s Day – Part II

In part of one of my Happy Mother’s Day post, I only spoke of my daughter Amanda and Al (my puppy).  But there is another important person in my life and that is Amanda’s husband, Steven.  He is a great son-in-law.  Always keeps me on my feet.  I try to be the best Mother-in-law that I can possibly be.  I cringe at the thought of those unfortunate children who do not get along with their Mothers-in-law.  My Steve, is intelligent, has an awesome sense of humour, offers good advice, is compassionate and just an all around great guy.  There is no doubt that I am the most blessed “Mother” and “Mother-in-law” on the planet.  I know this for certain.  I thank my lucky stars each day.  Very grateful, I am.

So for all those Mothers-in-law out there – Happy Mother’s Day to you.  May you be as blessed as me.

Thank you Steven for being such a great son-in-law.

Note:  special hello to Elton and Penny my grand-puppies.
